I LOVE THIS PLACE..... This was my first time to Bishop California. Driving through, the giant Whiskey Creek sign caught my eye and tickled my curiosity. As I enter, I am greeted by the host and seated right away. My server was attentive, knowledgeable and super friendly. Have you tried their fish taco's? Seriously.... FISH TACO'SSSSSS.... ... ! I close my tab and I am curious about the bar area. I ask my server if it is open seating, They said it was, so moseyed my way to the bar for my post cocktail cocktail. Had a great conversation with one of the managers, If I remember correctly his name was Mike. We got talking about the building, the beer and local area. Aaron, I can't give you much more about the server she was rude and didn't introduce herself. She had blond hair that's all I remember. It was about 8pm on Halloween. All I am saying is she could have just told us the kitchen was closed in a nice way and we would have returned another time. Unfortunately we will not be back. 2.5 Overpriced low level steakhouse. I got a 30 dollar steak which came just drowning in butter, couldn't even taste any beef flavor, huge waste of money on that. Steak was cooked perfectly at least, side of onion rings was decent but could have used more seasoning... Asparagus wasn't seasoned either??? Ugh. Place was quiet... Music too loud... Just, Idk maybe that's a Bishop thing. Gladly for me, work paid for about half, but I wouldn't come back. I hate to compare the experience to eating at a Sizzler, but you know...minus the buffet... We really enjoyed the staff and food at Whiskey Creek so much so that we came here 3 nights in a row on our trip to Bishop. We had the prime rib and steak and even tried the Thai food. Wine list was nice too. Had a Malbec and then two Pinots the next couple of nights. read more

My sister lives in Reno and I live in L.A...we meet in Bishop for the weekend around every 2-3 months because it's the halfway point between our homes....we found this place and will definitely be making this part of our Bishop weekends from now on!!! Great service...(thanks to Mia, the bartender and the wonderful Blonde lady that helped make our time there great!) Awesome food!!! Lobster bisque and bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer was delicious! Good sized portions...great salads and sandwiches too AND BEST OF ALL a nice dark beer on tap...for a person who loves draft beer it was refreshing to have something dark on tap and not just bud or miller lite...good jukebox as well...They also have a nice couch area in the bar to lounge around on! Highly disappointing. Tried to eat here tonight. First encounter was with unpleasant hostess. Was seated in a karaoke area that was clearly closed and had no lights--we had to ask for them to be turned on. Waiter was upset we had been seated in this area. The floor was dirty with old French fries and the table and chairs all rocked. A TV was playing clips of people eating grossly (people spilling all over themselves and tables). We finally just walked out without ordering. We definitely will not be back. read more

After a couple of visits here recently, I soon realized that the service is terrific. However, the food is not necessarily so. On one visit with some friends, the Asian chicken salad was undercooked. My burger, which was satisfactory, was a bit dry. I wondered why, only to find out on the subsequent visit. The server was especially attentive and quite endearing, making up for some of the food dissatisfaction. The second visit was with a friend who ordered a steak, well done. Meanwhile I figured I couldn't go wrong with the burger. The steak came burnt to a crisp on the outside and still pink in the middle. My burger was again mysteriously dry, which made me ask how it's prepared. To my dismay, the burgers are apparently cooked with an iron press on them, which presses all of the juices out of the burger. Mystery solved! Again, the server made up for some of the dissatisfying food with wit and aplomb. Overall, the service is generally excellent. The food? Not as excellent. Hopefully, with time, they'll change that around and I'll return at some future point. read more

Waitress was so busy chatting with regulars it took over 20 minutes to get a beverage order, 45 minutes to order food and after being there for an hour she explained that they messed up our order and it had to be redone. Awful place to dine. You walk in and the worst hostess doesn't greet you, glares at you and makes you feel unwelcome. You are surrounded by pretentious junk that is overpriced but of zero value in the gift shop. You then get seated in a room with outdated decor as you walk by tacky art. There's branches tied with burlap on the ceiling that is reminiscent of wannabe martha Stewart DIY fails. All of this could possibly be forgiven if the food was great, but sadly no. The prime rib was served on a tiny plate and was difficult to cut through. It was surrounded by baby food l, piped like cake potatoes, and other outdated sides. IF your server remembers you exist they may be by at some point while you struggle to chew through your prime rib that is 85% fat. This place needs to fire their interior designer, their chef, and their hostess. Throw out all the gross self loving kitsch in the gift shop while you're at it. read more

I had a terrible dining experience here--in both food and service--and cannot recommend this establishment to anyone. I was both ignored and outright insulted by the staff. My food was very slow to come and when it did show up it was obvious that it had been sitting under a heat lamp for twenty minutes (plate was super hot; food had a heavy film on it, rubbery texture). After tasting it (one bite), deciding I could not eat it (or pay $16.95) for it, I set my napkin on top of the uneaten food and pushed the plate away from me in the universal sign for "there is a problem with my food." The server ignored this. I was never asked if there was a problem, how the food was, was I happy, would I like something else. The server just brought the bill and, looking at my uneaten plate said meekly, "you're not going to eat this?" Then I was charged. When I complained, I was told the manager refused to refund the food because "there was nothing wrong with it." I had to threaten to call the police for them to remove the charge. Seriously. Then the server went and spoke insultingly about me to another patron at the bar. I do not think the server knew I could over hear him. The patron he was speaking to then made a loud comment about how I was just a "dirty climber" who was "passing through" and looking for a "free meal" by refusing to pay for the food I didn't eat. I had to confront this patron and inform him that, in fact, I have lived in Bishop for 10 years, am gainfully employed, pay taxes and vote and what we was saying was incorrect and inappropriate. He swore at me and said he didn't care. No help or intervening from the staff at all during this embarrassing episode. It's one thing to have food be slow. Fine. It was (sort of) busy and I wasn't in a rush at all. It's even fine with me if the food isn't that good. I just want to feel considered as a patron. If the food is unsatisfactory, they should ask if I'd like something else on the menu or if they can attempt to make the dish again (it was the Chicken Pesto Pasta). However, to deliver slow, unsatisfactory food and then refuse to make right the situation is unacceptable. To then go out of your way to slander me and my dining party to other guests is abhorrent. Shame on the management for condoning this behavior. read more

You walk in and it is like so surprising and the courtesy of the servers is 5 stars all the way. The food was super good. We had Salad and a Pizza and it was just top-notch awesomeness. Our Server on July 3rd was on his game and didn't miss a beat from finish to start he had it dialed in. For me, I hate having to ask for the bill and then hurry up and wait for it. It was a great dinner and I am still enjoying the memory. I think they must have listened to reviews because of those situations given we didn't experience that. What a waste of money. We went here midweek (Tues, Sept 6). Walking in we thought perhaps they were closed again as the entire (extremely large) lobby area of the restaurant was devoid of people, decoration...anything. Finally a woman came over and explained they were still working on renovating the gift shop. Okay fine. Got it. Were immediately seated at a table with a broken candle. Asked for a new one. Waitress told us they probably didn't have any more and were having trouble with them. (They only just re-opened and they didn't stock a supply?) But she found one and brought it to us. You may say I'm being picky, but come on...part of what you are paying for in a restaurant is atmosphere and they've only just recently reopened. DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, ORDER THE DUCK LINGUINE. Even if the waitress tells you it is one of the best things on the menu. It was pasta (which was perfectly cooked by the way) in a flour and water sauce. Completely flavorless. Never ate paste as a child but imagine this is what it would be like. There were five very thinly shaved slices of fried duck (breast? leg?-so thin hard to tell) on the side of the plate. Oh yes, almost forget that were were also some broccoli stumps (not florets) tossed in for color. One of the worst meals I have ever had in a restaurant. And even more disappointing since we were told the place had been bought and re-opened by Erick Schat (of bakery fame). Drowned the plate in salt and pepper just to get some taste and even still barely ate 1/3 of it. Boyfriend had the burger. Tasty but overpriced. They wanted $1.75 for each additional item (cheese, grilled onions, avocado). Okay that's fine...but an additional $1.75 for bbq sauce???? Again, the waitress saved the day and just brought him some on the side. As a starter we had shrimp wrapped in bacon which was good but uneven. Half the bacon cooked/half not. $100 for 2 entrees (one inedible), 1 starter, 2 glasses of wine, 2 Manhattans. We didn't bother sticking around to try the deserts.
