My husband and I heard about this place from a friend and went to try it out. They have this really cool industrial-like interior style that we liked. The tri-tip was also really good! Although, as we were eating we overheard the server on shift... He was talking to a girl at the bar and was talking about customers, calling them weird, and while it may not have been about us, it is pretty disrespectful to talk like that considering everyone in the shoebox-sized restaurant could hear him. Not only that, but he made inappropriate sexual gestures and comments towards the girl... he must've not realized how close we were, but we were very uncomfortable hearing this as we ate our food. Not at all what I expected when looking for BBQ but true BBQ s hard to find..this is more of a steakhouse. A very good steakhouse. The brisket burger was probably the best I've had in the northstate. My husband had the tri tip sandwich and since his plate was emptied before O could sneak a bite i guess it was good. They are new and trying hard but their food speaks for itself. Just don't expect pulled pork, ribs or Brunswick stew..the name is misleading but the service and the food is top shelf! read more

We had the most incredible Brisket Burger on earth. The staff is awesome! I HIGHLY recommend. One of the best meals in Redding, hands down.

Tried out the new Whiskeytown BBQ on Eureka Way last night and was very impressed. We ordered the ribs + the Santa Maria platter. I'm a steak snob and usually only like filet mignon but the tri-tip quality was outstanding and full of flavor I was pleasantly surprised. Both meals came witn a side salad first (not pictured) that was a generous size of a normal salad. It was also "Thorsey Thursday" so they had $4 Sangria which is also not pictured but very tasty so naturally I ordered two. The garlic bread on the side was the best I've had from the texture to the taste I couldn't get enough. We also got the cowboy caviar which was a nice snack to begin our meal. Finished off with their root beer float. The ice cream they used was very creamy along with the top shelf root beer selection. Staff was very attentive, quick, and gave great menu recommendations. We had a party of 8 and could not be more pleased with the service and accommodation we were given. We got the beer tower with Whiskeytown blonde beer which was great and the food was excellent. Portions were way above, meat was tender, and sides were also good. Also, everyone in our party loved the atmosphere. Decorations, lighting, country music and old westerns. Spot on! I'm pretty sure puppy got water before we did too so calling this place pet friendly would be an understatement. The food and drinks were fantastic. Attended their soft opening on Super Bowl Sunday and was immediately in love with the food and the staff and ownership. Such a personal place with flavors I never would have guessed would be amazing together. They care so much about their guests and the feedback on the food. The menu is small right now, but super smart on their behalf as a new business. They strive to prefect that small menu before moving on. The flavors are pure with a cultured past. We went during the Tuesday grand opening. We waited quite a bit if time before we got our food. The Salad is big but the burger was a bit underwhelming and no fries which would have been perfect but got garlic bread instead. No kids menu so we ended up sharing a small plate. All in all, the food was pretty good, a few bumps here and there but ultimately Good food. We will go again and try the other items. Please add a kids menu and fries is a must to any burger and maybe we'll give this place a 5 star rating. read more

We were on a trip from the Bay Area to Bend, Oregon and decided to veer a little and try this BBQ place out. It was SOOOO GOOD! I had the beef ribs with BBQ sauce on the side. Best BBQ sauce I've had. Sweet and spicy. The meat was so tender and perfectly smoked. My husband had Tri-tip, Santa Maria style, and his was delicious as well. The salad was fresh and plentiful, the beans are delicious. We would drive her just for a day trip to eat here. The folks inside were a pleasure to have take care of you and your meal. We live in the area and had high hopes for this eatery as there are limited options in this locality. The restaurant is small but has a nice ambiance. The staff were very friendly and moved quickly in an atmosphere that was busy for this evening. They were even more impressed when, since we asked for "to go" orders, and they didn't have containers, that we had brought our own. Our disappointment was in the fact that for this area, patrons should be prepared to shell out some hefty cash. The menu is limited, and, for a barbeque joint, oddly does not serve ribs(??). My chef salad, at $17, was a little larger than a conventional dinner salad and consisted mostly of romaine lettuce with a few onion slices, tomatoes, cucumber, olives, and a few strips of beef. You can go almost next door to Round Table and select what you want off the salad bar, which is substantial for $7.50. My wife selected the tri tip, at $25. This was a small serving of tri tip plus beans and a dinner salad. She wasn't asked about how the meat should be cooked and, as a result, was served the plate with the meat almost raw. Fortunately we have a microwave at home so it could be cooked for another 20 minutes. There is another higher priced option on tri tip or a brisket sandwich which all run about the same price. I totally understand start up restaurants struggle here and provide jobs but sorry we'll go elsewhere considering the price tag for what you get here. Redding has a lot more choices with better quality and prices. No, a good steak in Redding does not cost $50 at many locations except here. read more

Since my Mom is so kind, she stopped and wanted to try a new local business.. she bought some Tri-Tip sandwiches that were $16 each, with a few slices of Tri-Tip and some stale garlic bread.. no fixings to go with. For the exception of BBQ sauce. No beans, no side. The meat had no flavor.. so disappointing. If I'm gonna spend that much for a couple slices of meat, on some bread.. I'd rather go to Holiday and get the whole tri-tip for 4 dollars more that has flavor and I can serve plenty! read more

The food is delicious!!!! Tim does a fantastic job with the BBQ. The ribs are so tender and the tri tip is delicious and not covered in BBQ sauce. We went for the first time last night, got there around 5 and the host told us someone had stole parts of the BBQ the night before and so the owner was running to Lowe's to buy a new BBQ and they informed us it would be about a 30min wait. I'm so glad we chose to stay and wait, best tri-tip sandwich I've had!! And the cowboy caviar is delicious as well. The owner couldn't be more nice, and actually comped our first round of drinks for the wait, which really was not long at all. So I asked somebody at work where I can get some barbecue and they recommended this new place. At first appearance when I walked in I thought this is the real deal. Sat down at the bar which was comfortable. Nice bartender. Saw the menu and a little bit underwhelmed but I thought OK no big deal. Then I saw the brisket and I thought ha ha this is where I'll test them. Every barbecue place thinks they have the best brisket. So I ordered the brisket burger. What did I get? I got an oversize mashed up hamburger meat that was over salted and over peppered, that was not brisket in any sense of the word. It was raw hamburger meat. With what tasted like A1 steak sauce. Still, I tried to eat it and took one bite only to discover it was basically raw. Actually, I was just gonna get the 12 oz of brisket and then I saw that there was 1.1 pounds available so I thought I love brisket. $24! If you like brisket, this is not the place to go. Sorry to be negative because I yelp posts a lot of negatives but just giving you a heads up. I predict they won't make it unless they change the minute. Very deceiving. read more
