"Oh" she said "She didn't give you a menu!" I said, No, She didn't give me anything"! So the Server and her trainee went and got me a menu and a glass of water, silverware and napkin! After waiting and waiting for my server and her trainee to return and more people to be seated, my server returned and took my order! Lobster bisque and halibut with green beans no potatoes! Then, for more waiting! And I waited and waited and waiting! They brought my lobster bisque! I tell you! They just do not know how to make a lobster bisque in Birmingham thus far! Not up to par. It was orange and not a bit of lobster in it! Nor the smell of lobster was nowhere near it! I don't know what these restaurants think lobster bisque is. Did not even return to remove my bowl or replenish my water! Never saw them again! Then, I waited another long time until they brought out my main course which was pathetic and the sauce with it was so salty that I couldn't even use it so I did sprinkle some lemon on the fish and try to eat it. The best thing about the meal was the green beans! I ate part of the fish, but it was more or less tasteless! Not one time did my server come to check on me to see if everything was OK and as she was bringing me my check, she poured me some more water, that was really good. The only time she checked on me! A thicker cut would really let you taste the high-quality flavor of the beef. If you're going to order, here are a few pro tips: Get the sauce on the side: It's an excellent sauce, but you are much better off dipping. Otherwise, the burger will totally get drenched and lose the meat flavor profile. The bacon situation: They smash little bits of bacon directly into the patty. You can barely taste it this way, and it would be significantly better just served as traditional strips on top. So I would prob get it without next time. The Tallow Fries: These have huge potential, but unfortunately, mine arrived pretty soggy via delivery. I should have thrown them in the air fryer to crisp them back up, as I know they would be amazing fresh out of the fryer dripping in tallow. And they would have worked much better as larger almost steak cut fries to let the tallow flavor shine more. However as i ate them, i would still choose cajun 5 guys fries well done over them. My order for a burger and fries came to almost $40 (including tip) through their delivery service. Is it worth that price point for a delivery order? Probably not. However, the core ingredients are so good that I definitely plan to visit the restaurant in person so I can experience the food fresh and at its best.

Someone recently claimed the fries aren't fresh and the burgers are made with frozen beef, and that's just not true. The food at Luxe is consistently delicious and high quality....always tastes fresh. The burgers are made with fresh, never-frozen beef, and so much of the menu is prepared in-house. The staff is genuinely kind, the service is great, and the quality has stayed consistent over the years. There's a reason Luxe has been a downtown Birmingham favorite for more than 15 years. If you haven't tried it yet, I definitely recommend giving it a chance and deciding for yourself. I think the food speaks for itself.
