Fruity pebbles pancakes
Dalia A.

I had the absolute best time having brunch at Whistle Stop! We came here on a Sunday and got seated within about 15 minutes! The atmosphere is warm and bright with both indoor and outdoor seating options. I ordered the Ole skillet, which was a great mix of flavors and textures. I had my eggs sunny side up and got turkey sausage instead of the regular sausage. Potatoes were cooked perfectly and cheese was nicely distributed throughout the warm, sizzling skillet. It came with toast and house made jam. I highly recommend picking their strawberry jam. I loved the skillet but the star of brunch had to be the Fruity Pebbles pancakes. Fluffy and colorful, these pancakes were not only a feast for the eyes but also a deliciously sweet treat. The yellow icing on top was perfect - I just wish it had even more of it because it was that good! Overall, this brunch was a fantastic experience and I can't wait to come back!

I grew up in Birmingham and remember the old Whistle Stop in the "Rail District" from my high school days. The newly remodeled restaurant is very welcoming. Open and airy. I met my sister here for breakfast. We are both in town from out of state for our mother's 90th birthday celebration. It was a Monday morning and only a few patrons were there, but gradually the tables around us seemed to be occupied. I ordered their cinnamon roll half order. Could not resist since it was stated their cinnamon rolls are homemade. Even a half order was more than enough for me and I took two pieces to go for breakfast the next day. My sister had a spinach and cheese omelette which she liked. The side potatoes were crispy. Overall, it was much more enjoyable to come to an independently owned historic place rather than a chain.

My friends in the area highly recommended this place as they basically go every week or so! The wait wasn't too bad, but it was a busy Sunday. I ended up ordering the Charlie's Skillet and it was delicious! It doesn't look that pretty, but it was super hearty and the gravy was the perfect touch. I would definitely come back when I'm in the area again.

Both locations are fantastic. Great service and delicious breakfast. BUSY. Patience is key. It's all worth it in the end.

Very nice diner the decor is on point. The service was also great. However the prices were too over priced. We ordered 2 cafe lattes for $10.50 it had more coffee foam than coffee. I felt cheated out with my drink. We also ordered the Pancake Platter with a side of hash browns. The food quality was a bit poor. We spent close to $50 for breakfast. Wouldn't be my first choice to come back here again. Also, there's a credit card fee if you pay that way.

I arrived around 11 AM. I only had to wait for about 15 minutes. The service was good! The hostess was very friendly! I wouldn't say the food is anything amazing. Pretty average, but not at all bad. I definitely think it is overpriced compared to other places in the area. I got the Amtrak sandwich. My friends got the western omelette and the breakfast burrito. Portions are definitely small for the price.

March 2, 2023: Definitely not as crowded as my 1st time since this was a Thursday afternoon. Was seated at a table & had a friend with me this time also. Drinks were brought out. Food was brought out. Food was delicious!! I had the whistle stop benedict but my absolute fave was the connamon swirl pancakes March 17, 2022: VERY busy at 1030a on a Thursday! Since I was by myself, I was able to sit at the counter. I parked in a lot on the next block for Woodward businesses. All the spots on the side of the building were full. Portions are normal/could be eaten in restaurant. Strawberry jam was more like blended strawberries. There were quite a few dishes I wanted, but I managed to choose only 1. I was charged a credit card fee even though I used a debit card but she was busy so I didn't bother.

Our first time venturing to Birmingham with breakfast in mind. This place did not disappoint. It's on a residential street and honestly felt like it belonged to the people of the city. I've never been here before and from some of the other reviews, this place was recently renovated. It definitely looked new and beautiful. As always, my Tuesday's are for trying out new places with my beautiful breakfast date. We got the kids' silver dollar pancakes with sausage and the French Benedict. Having a croissant instead of an English muffin is absolutely a game changer. This food was delicious. The egg was perfectly runny and the hash browns were nice and crispy. The pancakes were excellent but the sausage was even better! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. And I've already been asked if we can go back again tomorrow. That would be a No, but soon...

My husband and I stopped in on our way through town. He had the breakfast burrito and I had the veggie skillet. Both were amazing!

Decent place. One of those small little restaurants that probably not many people know about. I had the breakfast special. Good price.

Great place. Eat here all the time. My one and only complaint would be that I just wish they'd offer some multigrain bread.

Oak Diner - Royal Oak (Campbell Rd) Walking into Oak Diner…read morebrought back so many great memories. I used to live nearby about 25 years ago and remember coming to a diner in this area for breakfast back then. Fast forward to today--this isn't the same place, but wow, it's absolutely amazing. Right away I loved the vibe. The chalkboards with handwritten menu items and daily specials on the walls give the place so much character and charm. It feels welcoming, classic, and cool all at the same time. The customer service was excellent from start to finish--friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. I ordered the country breakfast, which came with biscuits and gravy, eggs, toast, potatoes, and sausage--everything was spot on. I'm usually not a big hash browns person, so I really appreciated that they offer an alternative to the shredded style. I went with the cubed breakfast potatoes (not sure what they officially call them), and they were so much better--crispy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Between the food, the service, and the overall atmosphere, this place completely won me over. I already know I'll be back next weekend. Oak Diner has a really, really good vibe, and I'm glad I rediscovered breakfast here. Highly recommend.

First time here and decent overall…read more I had chicken tenders and soup as I was not extremely hungry. Pretty basic and hard to mess up. Both were good! Hubby had turkey dinner and some of it definitely gave off the vibes of having been reheated in microwave. Maybe it was the stuffing that was cut into a perfect square. Hubby did say the turkey was "pan fried well", whatever that means...he did not really explain that further. But he ate all his meal and proceeded to eat part of my chicken tenders. Might come back and try something different. Might night. Hard to say.

She chose this location because it was a favorite restaurant of my late husband and I'd never gone. He would meet his childhood buddies here on several occasions for their monthly breakfast outing. The restaurant was totally decked out for Christmas! We later found out that our friendly waitress, Dawn, is the one who decorates the entire restaurant for each holiday. My bestie goes to this restaurant on a regular basis for takeout for their Hudson Maurice Salad and Maurice salad dressing. This restaurant obtained the recipe from the now defunct Hudson store. She says it tastes just like the salad sold at Hudson's locations downtown Detroit and Northland Mall. I completely altered my Hudson Maurice salad by removing the olives, sweet relish and salad dressing by adding egg and poppy seed dressing. I took pictures of mine and not one of the original Hudson Maurice salad. After we were served our salads and bread, Dawn came back with a birthday pancake for me. Now, I would never order salad and pancakes. I munched a little on my salad and a little on my pancake. We also ordered carrot cake and lemon rice to go. I truly appreciate Dawn for the surprise! I will definitely say Dawn is one of the highlights of Little Daddy Family Restaurant. We will be back requesting to sit in Dawn's section again.

Great service and prices make this place a solid choice…read more I can't speak at all to the Greek aspect of the menu, or really anything lunch or dinner, but it has a large breakfast/brunch menu as well. From looking at the menu, it is definitely less than most places around. I enjoy skillets, so I went with what I recall was called on the smaller (temporary?) menu the Mexican, though it could've been something like southwest. It indicated chili which I thought meant cooked with chilies and didn't see meat, so had some sausage added. It was a very unique taste when I jumped in. I then realized it was actual chili. Maybe obvious in hindsight, but was a surprise at the time. But it was also very different from chili I'm used too. Rather than the deep red chili with large beans, this was sweeter, lighter in colour with almost a pureed texture. I ended up enjoying it quite a bit, but far different from what I expected and a massive stretch from anything Mexican, or even southwest. But a surprise can be welcome. It was pleasant overall, good portion and no complaints.

All are in Michigan and the majority of those appear to be in SE Michigan. We have been now to three or four of these and even with this small-ish sample size, I can tell the experiences can vary widely. This was the first visit to this store. This location on US 24 was convenient for us because it was on the way home from picking up our grandson to spend his Spring Break with us. We needed a place that was open until at least 10 PM and one where he could get pancakes. This location in a strip plaza was nicely placed in a good commercial area. The interior was tidy and attractive with a more than adequate seating capacity. It looked relatively new as though the store had not been in operation for too long. We were seated right away as it was not at all busy one hour from closing on a Wednesday night. Our server, Castle, attended to us right away and did a great job looking after us while we were there. The menu is typical of a Greek Diner at a Michigan-style Coney with a lot of choices. Our grandson indeed opted for Kid's Pancakes with Sausage and was very happy with his order. My wife tried the Banana Blueberry French Toast and was likewise pleased with her choice. I had the Chicken Kebab Dinner which included rice with tomato sauce. It was quite tasty. The portions were all more than sufficient as we each had leftovers to take away. I'll note that I had coffee to drink and found it better than average as far as Diners are concerned. Our final bill with food, drink, tax and tip was $43. At just over $14 each, I thought it was a good bargain. That's especially true since we all had leftovers for another meal. This was a positive visit and I'd say this Leo's location will remain an active option when we are in the area.
