Everyone wants to try White Castle especially after seeing Harold and Kumar, so of course my boyfriend would want to try it in real life as he's never had a White Castle ever. So on our exploration of Detroit we had to stop by a White Castle. Well we went to this one which was on our way back home and well it was a little sad drive through in the middle of a busy intersection. Not very busy. We used the drive through as, I don't think there was anything but a drive through. We ordered the standard but also got the chicken with waffle bun and well that was actually the winner for me! Surprisingly good. Just skip the other stuff and stick to the chicken and waffles :)

The only time I get to eat WhiteCastle is when you catch me out here in the east or deep in the south ya digg. I love their mini burgers. They got this one called the wave or something live that. Their calamari fries are off the hook. Their mini jalapeno burgers are good. 10 burgers for under $10 plus calamari fries and a drink. They location is hood, but after you cross them bricks in the road everything else gets hood as well. Tellin yall, they need to expand to the west and they need to make one 24 hrs

Dried up tasteless burgers. They don't put ketchup or mustard on the burgers no more you have to ask. Sucks and I will never go back.

Good thing I came when I came, because it got busy as hell shortly after. I went with 2 coney dogs and a Vernors. The dogs were delicious! Messy as hell, but absolutely delicious. They come loaded with a ton of chili, onions, and mustard on a super duper soft steamed bun. The dog had a great snap to it and the simple ingredients just worked! My Vernors ginger ale soda was great, too! Never had one before. Really liked it though. Had a hint of vanilla, and was sweeter than other gingers ales I have had. I loved it! It was the perfect beverage to wash down my dogs. Service was quick and to the point. This is the type of place where you eat and get the fuck out. No lingering around talking afterwards lol. The Coney dog ($4) was ordered. It had the classic toppings of bean less chili, yellow mustard, and raw chopped white onions. This was solid. There was a nice bite on the chili with plenty of mustard and onions. The bread was soft and the hot dog was cooked appropriately. The chili was the key as it was hearty and meaty. Will I go back? Yeah, sure.

It is straight-up childhood nostalgia in a container. Think back to growing up without much cash, where dinner was store-bought spaghetti using the cheapest canned sauce on the shelf, paired with standard Texas toast transformed into makeshift garlic bread. That is the exact flavor profile they are hitting, and truth be told, they nail that specific vibe perfectly. The process starts out in the alley where you order. The staff handling the food window were nice and remarkably quick, handing over the bag without any fuss. Things got a little confusing when trying to head inside to eat. The layout blends into a separate restaurant next door, and it is tough to tell where the boundary line is. I tried to wander over to that bar side just to grab a beer, but holding the spaghetti bag apparently marks you as an outsider. The staff over there chased me off pretty quick and directed me back to the designated area for the pasta crowd. Once you get into the correct zone, the space actually has some cool character. The highlight is the "trailer" that acts as the merch store. The concept is neat, but the actual retail experience fell a bit flat. They were completely cleared out of most shirt sizes, the pricing felt way too steep for what it was, and the guy working the counter was kind of a dick. Still, the spot is absolutely worth checking out at least once for the sheer novelty, just make sure you know exactly what you are getting into before you walk up to the window.

They come with a meat patty, cheese, grilled onions and ketchup and mustard. It was a tasty little meal to end the night. I definitely could have ate more if I just didn't eat some coney dogs 30 min before. The man collecting the money and the lady making the burgers were both real nice! I drove back by here during the day, and it looks way less ghetto than what I thought it looked like after midnight lol. Would definitely stop back by if I was hungry late night in Detroit.

I had just gotten into Detroit from NJ and was debating hitting the Tigers vs. Red Sox game that night, but decided to slow it down, walk around, and grab a real meal instead of rushing it. The place sits at a 4.2 on Yelp and leans into the film's iconic line. After checking out photos, I was all-in on getting a burger--but ended up pivoting. Walking in, it's clean with a rustic vibe. On the left, two large monitors cycle through the menu (a little fast, honestly), but the QR code helps you actually read it without pressure. You order at the counter, pay, grab a number, and they bring the food to your table. Simple, smooth setup. The menu's full of character-inspired names, which is a nice touch. I went with the Royale Fries & Brisket--seasoned fries topped with 18-hour smoked brisket, smoked Gouda cheese fondue, coleslaw, and honey-ancho BBQ sauce. Good move, especially since I wasn't in the mood for a bun. The brisket had great flavor but could've been a bit more generous. The fries, though, carried. They had that curly-fry-style seasoning (even if they didn't fully commit to the curl), and the combo of BBQ, slaw, and Gouda worked. I'd come back just for that. I was ready to skip dessert... until I saw people walking out with shakes. Not a huge selection, but cereal-inspired flavors--CEREAL. I got the Cinnamon Toast Crunch shake. Easy recommendation. On the way out, I grabbed a s'mores cookie and saved it for later that night. Soft, gooey center, marshmallow, Hershey's chocolate in the middle, and a full graham cracker on the bottom. I've had s'mores cookies in NYC and back home in NJ--this one hit. Really good. Staff was friendly and easygoing. Quick story: there's a sign telling you not to touch the cookies because the marshmallow sticks to the wrapper. I asked about it, got the explanation... and still did it anyway. Ended up scraping (and yeah, licking) it off. Zero regrets. Shoutout to the chefs, owners, and staff. Solid 4 stars--great food overall, but could use a little more brisket and the theme doesn't go quite as far as it could.

The chicken still had a nice crisp to it, which is always a gamble with fried food. The flavor absolutely delivered: perfectly seasoned with that signature spicy kick that builds without overwhelming. Juicy on the inside, crispy on the outside--exactly what you hope for. The sides held their own too. The mac and cheese was creamy and comforting. If I had one note, it would be that the spice level might catch you off guard if you're not expecting it. First, the packaging threw me off.. they don't even put the food in a proper container. The chicken was just tossed into a bag on a piece of parchment paper with a slice of hard white bread. It didn't feel sanitary or appealing at all. The chicken itself tasted old, dry, and chewy with barely any flavor. It also didn't look appetizing, which was already a red flag before I even started eating. I kept hoping it would get better, but it didn't. The mac and cheese looked promising when I opened it, but it was very bland and lacked flavor completely. To make things worse, I paid extra (75 cents) for ranch and never even received it. Overall, this experience was a huge disappointment. I don't like leaving negative reviews, but this was honestly a 0/10 for me.

Several weeks later, when the crowds died down, I popped in for dinner. The small parking lot was nearly full; I snagged the last spot. Maybe this is more of a to-go place? The menu is very limited. Essentially, there are various combinations of (3, 4, and 6) chicken fingers with fries and sides. There is also a chicken sandwich. I ordered the Box Combo, which includes four chicken fingers, sauce, fries, coleslaw, Texas toast, and a beverage, but I was worried I would still be hungry. The staffer reassured me that it would be more than enough. And she was right. The sizable chicken fingers were juicy and tender with a tasty, crunchy coating. The crinkle-cut fries were a-okay, as was the coleslaw. However, I did not care for the sauce, expecting it to be a bit sweeter, like J. Alexander's, nor did I care for the toast. The team staffing the restaurant was top-notch. They stayed on top of cleaning up the restaurant and replacing the garbage cans while remaining friendly and pleasant to customers.
