White Castle! The 2am spot after a good party night that everyone remembers, when you forgot what you did the rest of the night. My earlier memories of White Castle was when my Father use to take the family there. I've been to many White Castles on Long Island and in New Jersey. I must say the one that feel like home to me is this location in West Hempstead. I use to go a lot and the staff knew me and were always friendly. They keep it clean and there's a lot of space inside. There's nothing like a sack of ten with cheese of course and onions on top! Those mini, square,cheesy, gems of New York have saved me more times then I can count. However as we all know there is a penalty that must be paid for eating these gifts from the heavens! I don't want to go into detail, but you should all know what that penalty is by now. I would gladly pay the penalty for everyone on this planet if I could eat them as much as I wanted with becoming a balloon. I treat myself every so often and truly indulge myself. First impressions matter. I went to this White Castle for the first time and I must say I was not satisfied. I find this White Castle to be very disorganized. Three people working on my order talking to each other about what's in the bag already. I don't like people talking over my food! There was no soap in the bathroom but it was clean. I suppose I could've just asked for some. And they had no zesty sauce! No zesty sauce! How can I eat my onion rings without zesty sauce? Worst time of ordering food . I asked for 2 cheese burgers with bacon and they give me 2 DOUBLE BACON CHEESE BURGER - then the employee told i SHOULD OF said bacon cheese burger then I asked for steam burgers and had a attitude they had to make my order over . Hadn't patronized this location in about 20 years, had an assignment in Hempstead last week and just couldn't resist. Lovely Central American lady took my order and got it just right, and right quick! The fish were crackly and golden brown,the double cheese overloaded with pickles and ketchup, as requested. Hubby and I went here on a late night run as we were passing through LI. We have frequented this spot before and have rarely had a problem as the food is hot, fresh, tasty and they get your order right and the service is fairly quick. Well, it used to be quick anyway as our most recent stop there was very, very slow. It appeared that there were two to three employees working in the late evening and the drive thru was slammed with cars waiting and the overflow went on at least 10 cars deep onto the main street. It was also very packed inside at the counter area. Our whole drive thru experience from start to finish was an hour! I normally would never wait that long but there are few White Castles in the area and it is worth the wait once you get your food but this location really needs improvement at to their service and needs more workers! Such a positive experience since the last time i was here. It was the only thing open so early and i decided to go in and try the breakfast waffle slider. Upon immediate entry i was welcomed, helped, and served. My food was hot and made fresh upon request, staff was very humble i was impressed. The store was kept clean bathrooms were locked so i couldnt use it im assuming they close it at nite because of the overnight crazies. Now the waffle sliders i had were just ok, they werent what i was expecting in terms of taste. Horrible service. But the food is good lol. Walked in the employees are behind the register talking, laughing and playing with each other as if they are on a play ground & not at work . I usually don't even go to White Castle but decided to try it one night. The food was great but what was even better was the great customer service I received!! A nice young lady named Kathy helped me and I was so impressed by her exceptional customer service that I am probably going to be a regular customer now. She definitely makes this White Castle stand out from any other food i've had in the area. Had a coupon for a buy one get one free combo and being broke i decided to swing by on the way home and score some lunch for me and my bf. I ordered the hamburger combo and a cheeseburger combo,,,one with ff one with onion rings,,,,by the time i got home i had eaten most of the onion rings and half ff and 2 sliders,,,how can you resist that smell especially when hungry? I love the mini burgers and the curly fries. I used to live on it when i was young.

We came from the pga championships where we saw many things one of which being people getting par, after this I can definitely tell you the food here is sub par. The burgers were soggy and had the feeling of gravy on it. Would not go back. Although there was great service. If I was a golfer the only time I'd order a burger here again was when I needed I lost my ball and needed a new one. Again great service congrats to the staff. read more

My last review was 7 months ago and it seems like a totally different place. Last time I thought the food was good as usual, but the service was horrible. Well they must have gotten new management and new workers because today this place was amazing. Not only was the food good, but service was as good as it could have been. I waited on a short line, got my food in a flash and just plain old enjoyed sitting there. Last time the soda machine was broken and I had to wait about 10 minutes for some ketchup. Doug W and I are back in NY for a visit and Doug W needed his White Castle fix. This WC was everything we could ask for me. We went through the drive through which was not busy even though it was prime lunch time. One sack of greasy little burgers, o-rings and fries were our bounty. The sliders litterally slide down because they are so lubriated with grease. The onion rings aren't quite made of real onion slices but they are well breaded. The fries are crinkle cut and, if they are hot, they are fine. In fact everything from WC should be hot. The longer the food sits, the less you can stomach the grease.
