This is the long awaited White Castle- I couldn't wait to go and experience my childhood nostalgia. This White Castle is the first in the Lehigh Valley and I guess everyone else along with their children, grandmother, great grand mother and great great grandmother was excited as I for when I arrived I had to wait about 30 minutes, yes you did not read that wrong a HALF HOUR just to place my order. Which at a fast food place is totally unreasonable- that is what knocked off 2 stars. Once I finally received my order it was as good as I had expected. The first time my son and I went here we thought was just a one off, because we both came home and had upset stomach's. The place looked deserted. After almost 2 years we went back thinking things would have changed for the better, and we had to wait almost 25 minutes behind the car in front to get to the collection window. They asked me three times if I had ordered iced tea and I said yes I had. 10 minutes later I was told only half our order was ready and to pull forward and park and someone will bring us the rest. Nothing happened for 15 minutes and when we will walked in the employee was just coming out with the two barbecue brisket sliders but no sign of the ice tea, for which we had to go back in and obtain. All in all we must've spent over 40 minutes at the drive-through of a fast food chain. Service was pathetic. One employee even seemed more concerned with eating, rather than working efficiently to get orders delivered. The special barbecue brisket slider turned out to be cold. And the chicken sliders and the original sliders were a total disappointment. Seemed undercooked and soggy. The fries seemed to have been cooked in a microwave and were terrible. Wouldn't you know my son can home and has an upset stomach again and I just threw my food away. Avoid this place at all costs. Will never go back again!!!!!!! If you love the frozen cheese burger sliders that you get in the frozen section of the grocery store then your going to love the fresh ones here, also there is more options for you to pick of course. Stopped today right as the store opened, something was going on today? There was a DJ and a clown with balloons, stepped up to order to find out it was the grand opening today! Got a insulated bag with the White Castle logo and a coupon inside for 10 free burgers. Yes paydirt in burgerland gas to go. Strap yourself in because things are about to get dirty. My experience at this White Castle establishment can be described in one word. Pathetic. My friend, Chris, and I arrived at approximately 6:15PM. To first set the stage, there was a family of 6 sitting down and there was a gentleman sitting by himself. Both of these customers were waiting for their food. Another pair of people walked in the door behind us. Chris and I let the two go ahead of us, because we knew we were going to have a large order. They stood in line for a few minutes waiting to be served, but after a few minutes without even being acknowledged by the staff decided to leave. Chris and I advanced one space up, waiting by the register to have our order taken. After the two people in front of us left, I started a timer on my phone, as I knew this was going to take a while and I was curious to know exactly how long it would be. After another 6 minutes a person who I assume was the manager came up to the register. Our original plan was to get two crave cases. I, however, wanted some of the delicious chicken and waffle sandwiches. So I ordered my food first, then Chris was going to pay for the crave cases. I ordered 8 chicken and waffle sandwiches, an order of 20 chicken rings, and an order of loaded fries. Immediately after my order was taken the manager walked away from the register and vanished. As for the rest of the staff, there were 3 people "working." It was a few minutes later that Chris decided against ordering another 60 burgers, because the two customers that were here before us still were waiting on food. The thought of having to wait for this ragtag group of teenagers and twenty somethings to produce over 60 sandwiches was not something we were prepared to wait for. Chris decided to take his food needs to the Taco bell down the street where we were in and out in 10 minutes. The employees were working with no sense of urgency. One person was trying to make food, while the other two walked around the kitchen and just watched the food being made. Two of the employees looked to be wearing generic sneakers, which is incredibly unsafe as non-slip shoes are required in all fast food jobs, regardless of position. One girl had heart shaped hoop earrings the size of a baseball that could have easily got caught in anything and everything in the store. Eventually another person came out onto the line and started rubbing her eyes, picking up garbage off of the floor bare handed, eating food that may or may not have been handed out to a customer in drive through, and finally using her phone with gloves on after laying down meat onto the grill. It's worth noting that not once did this employee wash her hands during her bacteria filled journey around other people's dinner. Let's rewind about 15 minutes and take a break for a bit to talk about the status of the building as a whole. Upon stepping inside, the first thing we noticed upon entering was completely filled, overflowing trash cans. After ordering my food and getting a good look over the counter and into the kitchen, I was able to see the large pile of trash just sitting on the floor. Plastic wrappers, empty boxes, and broken bits of hamburger bun lay in an approximate 2ft diameter circle of trash. Looking back on the experience, I wish I took a moment to look at the bathrooms, but unfortunately I did not think of it in the moment so I cannot comment on them. There seemed though to be some problem with the nacho cheese dispenser. I watched one of the employees start putting together my loaded fried I ordered. I saw the fries go in the box, followed by bacon bits and ranch sauce. One thing was absent though. There was no cheese sauce. I'll get into more detail a bit later. So back in the present day. More and more customers were starting to not only enter the building, but pile up in drive through as well. It was at the point where people would come in and see the mess of people waiting to have their order taken and then leave. All in all, to wrap up because I've got better things I want to do instead of typing up this review so I'll leave it with this. This entire event is a failure on the management. When employees are too busy holding conversation and singing and dancing to vulgar rap music playing over the store's radio system rather than doing everything in their power to service the customer management is not doing their job. The store was in total disarray and completely understaffed for a Saturday night dinner. Trash overflowing in the dining room and kitchen so much that there was a pile on the floor employees were trying to avoid. Employees lacking food safety awareness and not wearing the proper uniform stem from poor training, or poor management. Perhaps both in this case. This store needs a serious overhaul. i was really looking forward to white castle like i used to get in Philly 15 years ago. Well this was pretty bad. Not like i remember at all. Soggy, greasy little burgers. I trashed the second burger and likely I will never return. Service was very slow and there was only 2 other customers there. Stopped here on the way home from a concert tonight. The place was an absolute mess. Bathrooms and all. Another customer next to us was upset because he was waiting twenty minutes for his food and the manager told him it was his own fault. As we waited for our food, we witnessed an employee take her she odd and proceed to itch it on a box that was on the floor. The man taking our order complained he had to get our drinks because the drink machine in the dining room was broken. The other employee making the hamburgers dropped a bun on the floor and proceeded to kick it around on the floor for fun. This course at 10 this evening. Good thing we don't live near by because this place was a filthy mess and I wouldn't trust to come back. There are NO other burgers that come close to their unique taste. Forget the frozen ones in the super markets, they don't come close to the fresh off the grill. 1 star is pushing it. Worst fast food I've ever experienced. It took FOREVER to get our food. The place was not clean. The soda tasted like water. The burger buns were soggy and wet. The food is good. Few issues are slow service-they dont seem to know what they are doing, milkshake too over a half an hour to be able to use a straw- it was that thick!, and with all those delicious sliders comes a crap load of trash for the environment. My first visit to a White Castle was at this location in the late evening. The place, being the only White Castle in PA, was predictably crowded, but our orders were taken with speed and relative friendliness and our food was delicious. The dining room was mostly clean. Having now experienced the particular delight that is the White Castle slider in this solidly average location, I can say I will definitely be a repeat customer. read more

The food got me sick for several days, this was the first time I had eaten there and certainly be the last. I was told by friends in California I should try it and learn the history behind the franchise the cashier could not tell me one good thing about the place the kids in the back had meat patties on the grill with no heat they turned on the grill when more people started walking in. The place was filthy with trash spilling over and none of the employees bothered to clean just laugh and on the cell phones. I have never been to the Allentown one but I have been to couple in Ohio. They are still good but like anything else they are not what they used to be. It was fun to go and "buy em by the sack" when the bars closed. They used to close much later in Illinois than Pa. Mind you this was in the late 70's early 80's. They slid much better than they do now. I can get them frozen in the grocery store. That's the best I can get until I get to a real one. Thumbs up I just wish they were a little greasier. read more

I went to White Castle on Macarthur Rd in Whitehall PA on Nov 20th 2011 at 1:49pm and purchased $54.47 worth of food and when i got home the food was RAW & UNCOOKED..... I called and spoke to a supervisor and they stated that they will take my name and order number and the food that was RAW and replace it... I was fine with that...Now its Nov 27th 2011 7:20pm and i was passing by so decided to stop for the food. I spoke with a supervisor name unknown and he replaced the food. I left the store pretty happy about the customer service from that supervisor until I was chased down by a man named PETER who stated that i came in last week for the replacement food and that he has my plate number down as well...... When i confronted Peter about him having my plate number from my vehicle and said it should be on camera he then stated never mind cause he new he was lying... I followed him back into the store to get his name to make a complaint to the corporate office about him lying he refused and then i was yelled at by some other woman behind the counter that she was going to call the cops without knowing the story she also refused to give her name.... I then proceeded to call the police myself and make a complaint....I was able to get a incident number and will be following up to make sure people like Peter do not get away with embarrassing other people when lying about situations that never occurred.... Worst idea ever. Got there shortly after lunch time after driving over 3 hours there. I had the entire family with me so we ordered an entire case of cheeseburger sliders. There was some confusion at first as the cashier didn't know what putting the pickles and onions on the side meant, but someone finally straightened him out. Finally when our food was ready we picked it up. First bite and we knew something was wrong. They had put the pickles on the side as we asked, but you could tell that they had put the onions on the sliders and then tried to scrape them off. On top of that, the buns couldn't have been soggier. They tasted like they were soaking in water. It was so bad that we threw half the case away. We tried to contact management, but no one would pick up their phone. I think we'll just stick to Burger King from now on. It's not worth the money for White Castle. I even took pics but it won't let me post it here or I would. Completely disgusting. read more
