    Double Cheese Slider

There was a time about 25 years ago, when I used to close down bars more often, that our local White Castle would see me after 2 am. That was a long time ago. I no longer have a White Castle near me in Philly. So when I passed this one on a recent stop in Allentown, I got really curious. I mean, I'm probably not going to tell you anything new here. It had at least a 20 minute wait at the drive thru on a Saturday at 4 pm, so some people must still love it. These burgers haven't changed since I used to have them. I'm not even sure why I liked them. It's kind of mushy. It needs to be a double to even have any flavor. But I found myself oddly comforted by having one. My son liked the chicken rings. Those are still a favorite of mine as I tasted one. I tried the clam strips just for the heck of it and I'm not sure I'm going to do that again. I have no idea why they are still popular. Maybe it's the movie.

This may have been the worst "fast" food service. Ordered 3 impossible burgers that took nearly 15 minutes to get!!!!? Finally at minute 14 someone came to the window to offer me something to drink!!! Like really??? I said no and asked them why has it taken this long. She said someone had dropped them and had to make them all over. Out of courtesy, wouldn't it have been the common sense thing to let the customer know that and allow them to decide if they wanted to wait??? And to add to fuel to the fire this is what you give me??? Couldn't have the cheese b/c its not plant based. They give out no other condiments besides onions per the employee that took my order. But yet you barely put any onions on them??? Wow. Just so disgusted. First and last time.

We drove 4 hours to get here and try WHITE CASTLE! I was a little disappointed when I got here because the lobby just closed and it started raining and after ordering all of our food we had to wait in line for a while but Harold and Kumar weren't messing around.....the sliders were PHENOMENAL omg the best fast food ever all of us loved it would highly recommend!!!!

Road trip pit stop! I was starving and in search of the nearest Chipotle when we drove past this gem. Being a pescatarian, food options while on road trips can become a challenge, however I was happily surprised to learn that White Castle has a wide ranging selection of sandwiches. They have black bean veggie burgers! They are great, but don't include any toppings so be sure to add those. Additionally, they have crab cake burgers, traditional and fish. The food was good. Fries were hot and crunchy. We ordered one regular and one cheese. Service was friendly and the line moved quickly. All in all not bad.

Some guy outside saw me taking a photo and asked to be in it

The worst dining establishment I've been to. Food wasn't bad by any means, but it certainly wasn't good. Their touch screen soda machine (with 500+ options) only had coke and root beer. Coke tasted funny and ran out before my significant other could fill their cup. They/them were left with only root beer and it did not stop pouring when they/them released the button. Then I ordered a milkshake, boy what a mistake. It was a frozen block of chocolate flavored slushy. Couldn't even drink or eat it. Terrible...

although the fries were good and crispy, they did not make up for the soggy cheeseburgers shoved into boxes & the flavorless chicken rings.

My daughter and I both ordered fried chicken sandwiches, and unfortunately, both were seriously overcooked--like "bottom of the fryer" overdone. The chicken only covered about half the bun and quickly became inedible. We actually had to swap sandwiches just to see if one was any better, but neither improved. Between the two of us, we could only get through about half of one and maybe a third of the other before it just wasn't worth trying to eat anymore. I mentioned it to our waitress in a calm, straightforward way and told her both sandwiches were inedible. She did offer to have them remade, but after seeing what came out the first time, we declined. I don't recall receiving an apology, which was disappointing. What really stood out was that the issue was never addressed beyond that--no follow-up, no adjustment to the bill, nothing. I didn't ask for anything to be taken off, but when a significant portion of the meal can't be eaten, you'd expect some effort to make it right. Coming from someone who works in customer service, this felt like a miss on both food quality and basic service recovery. I wouldn't recommend the chicken sandwich, and I'd be cautious about expecting attentive service here.

The idea is alluring -- burgers, hotdogs, shakes done well but unfortunately they really didn't deliver. I should have known based on the scowl on the face of the guy already waiting too long for his order at a table. There was chaos abound, door dash drivers being given the wrong orders, everything delayed, employees barking at each other for having made mistakes, etc. No greeting when I went in there, and needed to flag someone down to get help. Great food can forgive a lot of sins, but unfortunately PB struggled here too. The Yinz BBQ burger had barely the smallest bit of BBQ flavor, and was just flat, one-note and mediocre at best. The Chicago Dog was a mess(see pic), hot dog way over cooked and shriveled up, no poppy seed bun. Yovi's truck does not need to worry about the completion. It's a shame because I really wanted to like this place. Conceptually, this idea should work, could work. If this place had recently opened, then perhaps I'd wait and try again. Given that they've been open for about 15 months, I'm not sure I'll be back.

We didn't, but somehow got lucky snagging seats at the bar... which honestly turned out to be a perfect spot to eat too! The beet salad was SO good I could've easily ordered a second without hesitation. I had a self-proclaimed Reuben connoisseur with me, and he declared it the best Reuben he's ever had (second only to his own, of course ). It's not your typical version either--no standard Thousand Island overload. The corned beef was perfectly peppered and packed with flavor, and even the bread stood out. Fish tacos? Absolutely a yes. Fresh, flavorful, and just done right. We split sides--tater tots for one dish and the homemade chips for the other. Always go for the homemade chips here. WOW! They had this subtle sweetness that made them seriously addictive. Friendly service, great atmosphere, and food that lives up to the hype. Totally worth it! What an improvement over the tiny little order-at-the-counter spot with the free wine and rickety folding chairs! The food was good before, and it's still good, but the place is now a full service, upstairs-downstairs cozy spot. We had fried pickles, a sunshine salad (as a side salad), and a couple of hot dogs--the bacon dog and the Picklesburgh dog. Pickles were a tiny bit greasy but crunchy and substantial. The side salad was absolutely delicious with lots of textures and crunch, both acidic and a little sweet all at the same time. I would order it as a dinner salad for sure. I didn't try the bacon dog, but my husband liked it. The Picklesburgh dog was a delicious mess--truly, it was so messy--but it was crunchy and salty and briny, and totally worth ordering next time I'm in the mood for a dog. I shouldn't have waited so long to go back to Brick and Mortar; I'm glad we finally checked it out.

Our waiter came immediately and let us know the drinks on draft were $2 off for Happy Hour. I ordered the Purple Haze, a raspberry lager, and really enjoyed it's smooth fruity flavor. As a meal, I ordered the fish sandwich with chips, since upgrading to fries was an extra $3. The sandwich came out within 10mins, freshly hot and fried crispy. They split the big fish in half and stacked it on a bun, so it's very filling. On the side they give you a small portion of tarter sauce, which wasn't nearly enough for how much fish was on the sandwich. It was in need for a bit more flavor, so we requested hot sauce. Tabasco was free (other sauces were 50 cents) but unfortunately the bottle stated it expired in June of 2023. It didn't have any spice left and was a brownish color, so I didn't want to put it on my fish. The chips on the side were good, seasoned with salt and pepper. Overall the fish sandwich was good and a large portion, it just needed more sauce or maybe seasoning on the batter to give it more flavoring. For $15, I would recommend supporting a Firehall or Church fish fry that provides more sides with their menu items for the same quality.
