Great times this Saturday at White Elephant after hitting the beach. We sat outside by the water , we split a fried gator app w spicy sauce ( so dang good..crunchy on the outside, , soft and juicy on the inside ), one of the best gator meals I ve had in a while , my friend had a cold Prosecco split, I thoroughly enjoyed Miami vice w a floater. Service was good, live music was fun. we shall return soon !

It's a vibe from boat life to beach life. It's a one of a kind 100 year old place that's indoor outdoor. The servers are really friendly and the the bar is almost always packed.

It's hit or miss with this place. Typical bar food, but can be disappointing. I've been here when the food is decent, and I've also been disappointed to say the least.

Basic water-side restaurant. Pros - good location. Cons - super loud music and you cannot hear the people at your table. The food is basic. The chips and salsa are bland and store brought. The burritos are flavorless. Not much to look at nor worth eating at. Spend your time elsewhere.

Disappointing only begins to describe our dining experience with the White Elephant. When we came inside, we noticed a number of patrons smoking at the bar. We asked for a table outside which was readily available. And - the guests at the two tables nearest us were also smoking. No escaping the second hand smoke. Rick ordered the steak sandwich - medium rare. Not sure why they give you a choice. The sandwich was well done - as in - overcooked. The sandwich came on a toasted hoagie bun. The meat was tough and not tasty. Fortunately they had A-1 sauce to help with the taste. Fries were - fine. I ordered the coconut shrimp "dinner" - which comes with rice and a vegetable medley of broccoli, cauliflower and carrots. Um hum - that vegetable medley was more like a solo (the carrots) with backup singers of broccoli stems and a few pieces of cauliflower. The broccoli floret you see in my picture is the only one on my plate. Those veggies were steamed - but zero seasoning. No butter, no salt, nothing. Just the carrots and their veggie friends. The rice? I thought it was a bad rice-a-Roni mix - but that's giving too much credit to Rice-a-Roni. I'm not really sure how they managed to get this side dish of rice to be so tasteless and bad- but they did. The shrimp? It's hard to do coconut shrimp poorly. And frankly - the shrimp were fine. I ate all 8 of my shrimp. But the sauce? Heinz sweet and sour in a package? I could have gone to McDonald's to get that! You can't make your own shrimp sauce of sweet Thai Chili? Mango pineapple? Cilantro melon? Honey and orange? Seriously - I can think of quite a few inexpensive and easy options to make your own sauce that would taste much better than the sugar laden Heinz sweet and sour that you serve. (I asked about the veggies with the meal - I did not ask about the sauces available for the shrimp - shame on me.) I ordered one of their "tropical drinks" - a vodka lemonade that would be $6 - $8 anywhere else in the area - but was $12 at White Elephant. The "smart" patrons were those who had a friend with a boat. They pulled up to the dock, got some drinks to go - and headed back out. That might be the best way to enjoy the White Elephant.

Karaoke Sunday was a blast! Didn't have any food because I think there were better options next door but we stayed for karaoke all night Sunday. Servers were attentive, drinks were reasonably priced. Place is huge and they had fans placed throughout for everyone to be comfortable.

It was decent, nothing over the top. Food was just ok.. wife got the turkey Reuben that basically had no coleslaw, burger was decent nothing saying come back to buy again. Easy access by boat. Service decent, two brothers singing on the stage was decent. I would go back and try it again, just needs a little better vibe, maybe we boated in to early in the day.

I've gone here a handful of times throughout the years. I've never been impressed. This time…read morethough, will be my last. They changed the inside of the market. Before, you used to be able to view the live lobsters and see them pick them out. I used to like this, because I want to make sure the lobsters are alive and moving when they are removed from the water. Now, I don't know where they keep them, but I can't see them. I wouldn't trust that I am getting the fresh and very alive lobsters. Second, and most important of all, the prices are BAD. I called them a couple weeks ago for the price of lobsters. They told me 3 for $65. For me, that's extremely expensive. For me, I wouldn't pay that for myself, but my wife wanted me to cook some lobsters (would have been only her second time having lobster in her life). I decided to give them a try one last time and compare it to other markets that cost much less. If I could get similar taste at the other markets, I would no longer go here. Sadly, when I went in, I noticed the prices were now 3 chick lobsters for $75, or $25 a pound if you don't want 3. I asked about this, telling them they recently told me they were $65 on the phone... maybe not more than 2 weeks ago... and they said they raised their prices. Holy shit. That's not a $1 raise... or a $3 raise, but a whopping $10 raise. It wasn't too long ago that 3 of their lobsters were $25, and even that seemed expensive. I was willing to try them one last time at $65 (highway robbery bent over backwards), so I asked if they would honor the price quoted on the phone a few weeks ago, and they said no. So I walked out without spending one penny. These prices are terrible. TERRIBLE. Other markets in the area are charging $15 a pound for new england live lobsters. It's their store, they can charge what they want, but I won't buy anything if the prices are too high. Maybe this will go out of business like the port charlotte location? Maybe the snow birds don't know about other places to buy fresh lobster and pay the price? Well, if you know where to shop, you can find everything I've seen in this store for about 1/2 the cost. Tourist trap? I don't know, but buyer beware.

They were pretty busy but the food arrived quickly. Lots of people were stopping in for fresh seafood from the market while a few were having lunch outside. The food was delicious and everyone loved it. The only issue we had was that I was hoping to just get fried shrimp for my daughter but the only options were coconut shrimp or the shrimp po boy. They said that's all they could do. Once we received the shrimp po boy, I was confused why they couldn't just give us that but without the bread. Oh well, she just picked the shrimp off the bun and loved it anyways. Just didn't seem very accommodating when they seemed so helpful to the customers ordering from the actual fresh seafood market. We will definitely come back.

The food downstairs is normally pretty good, reasonable pricing, with a decent selection. The reason we are writing is to suggest and encourage some changes to the atmosphere to entice customers to choose this place over the other competing beach restaurant's within the 2 block beach area. What we have noticed is that over time, the attention to the outdoor experience has slipped. It's started to feel somewhat sad and dead. I understand that live music isn't always available, but there is a stereo system that could be playing lively beach type music to help create a vibe/catch people walking by attention and lure them in for a drink and food. The T.V's downstairs are plentiful, but almost always locked on a scenery image, instead of playing sports that would help capture attention and make people want to come on in. We are locals, and really root for all the beach restaurants, and want the Waves/waverly in particular to be super successful, as it was the first place we went to on the beach after moving to Manasota Key, so please consider some small tweaks to make it a place people want to check out and and return to time and time again!

Blood Orange margarita was delish as a cold pint of Jai Lai, my friend had couple of glasses of chilled Lamarca Prosecco. We ordered Blue point oysters , clam chowder and my fav Silver hamachi roll! Everything was fresh and delicious! Great stop today at Waverly/Waves bar after a successful listing appt. Hunter and Kyle took an amazing care of me w drinks ( rum runner , raspberry Collin's, smooth velvety vanilla coffee porter), freshly shucked crisp Chesapeake bay oyster ( could use a tad more of horseradish) and long anticipated soft shell crab sandwich (upgraded to my fav sweet potato fries) , coleslaw could use some love in regards salt/pepper/spices, but everything else was lovely and delicious. Other employees were super friendly and fun to chat with. Live music was a nice touch. I should def return soon to try their sushi . Thank you for a great lunch .

As vegetarians there were ZERO options on the limited menu. The server was super sweet and let us check out the buffet before deciding to stay or not. All the sides were vegetarian and the price of 24.99 each wasn't too bad, so we stayed. The buffet included ham, turkey, fried flounder as the mains, with sides of mashed potatoes, scalloped potatoes, carrots, mixes veggies, Mac and cheese, rolls, corn bread, coleslaw, and roasted potatoes. It also included a small salad bar and about 4 dessert options. There was also Easter candy scattered on the table and plastic eggs to open with treats inside-- making the lunch extra fun! As adults we never get to open easter eggs! We also enjoyed the live music. Five stars, but subtracted one for the lack of true vegetarian options with the limited menu. And also because they were lacking their liquor, their liquid gold. But still way tastier than gulf oysters. Didn't see any little crabs which are a special gift in many va oysters. My guess is, if they found em, they threw them away . Shame tho, cuz they're better than finding a pearl. Also got a basket of 8 fried oysters. Little too much batter for me to put them on my must have list, tho still somewhat lighter than other places. Also, not alot of flavor. Not sure where those oysters originated. But hey, it's a fried oyster and cooked perfectly. Took home the slaw and fries that came with the basket. Well, minus the 4 or 5 fries I ate. They were crispy outside, soft inside. I liked them. Enough to bring them home for the air fryer another time. Raw oysters came with cocktail sauce and extra horseradish. Love that option of adding more!
