Service was good, view and entertainment great but the food varied. My ribs were dry and the coleslaw didn't taste quite right. My wife's fish & chips was quite good. Our friends had wings and a shrimp salad that they enjoyed. read more

My inlaws took us here while we were in town visiting. Am amazing view off of the back section. It was settled in to this little cove and we saw some dolphins swimming out. We all ordered our drinks and perused the menu. They don't have a lot of choices, but most of us made seafood picks. We did try the macaroni and cheese nuggets. They were fried in the same oil as the fish, so you can kind of picture how those tasted! I had the cocunut shrimp and switched out the fries to sweet potato fries. The shrimp was served with sweet terayaki sauce and there were about 8 of them in the basket. They were quite good. I thought the fries were a little over done. The menu says that they may reserve the right to not split checks for parties of six or more, but the waitress didn't question it and separated them out four ways for all of us. I thought it was kind of pricey, but you are probably paying more for atmostphere than you are the food. I would go back for drinks on the back patio, but probably skip ordering the food. read more

Overall it was.... Aight! We enjoyed our grouper, it was flaky and hot and very yummy but the rest of the food was just ok. The fries were greasy on the outside and sort of freeze dried tasting inside. The chips and salsa tasted like tostitos. The beer was cold, $2.75 miller light drafts, and $4.25 corona bottles. We went on a weeknight, and 95% of the patrons were 65+, and the crowd really enjoyed singing karaoke.... A very relaxed vibe but after hearing Johnny angel sang for the 3rd time, I was ready to head out! read more

I love the music at White Elephant and their burger but I don't understand why they don't reduce their wine prices. I can walk 30 steps to Sand Bar and get a glass of wine for $3.25 but white Elephant still charges $6 on weekends. Sorry this is a no brainer. read more

Overpriced small portions, overcooked everything, salads are a joke... go anywhere else. We had a large party, our teenagers had to sit at a separate table and our server refused to serve them because "it wasn't her section". Screwed up the bills terribly and had a terrible attitude. We have been going to the White Elephant Pub for 10 years...it has become a family tradition when we stay on Manasota Key during Christmas week. It wouldn't recommend it for dinner or lunch, the food just isn't that great. However, their appetizers are great. The reason you need to go is for the good drinks (try The Turtle), their outdoor seating and the live music. It's fantastic! Keep in mind that because of a local noise ordinance, the bar shuts down around 11:00 (even on New Year's Eve). read more

Visited there on 03/10/18 with family for lunch. Rainy day and not too busy. I ordered a grouper sandwich, blackened. I usually opt for grouper when I'm at a beach bar/restaurant. This one was very unremarkable. The bun was basically a cheap white bread thing. The tomato and lettuce were fresh. The fish on the other hand was over cooked and dry. Actually it was pretty thin for grouper. It made me think it could have been another type of fish. The condiments are all served in packets. Really? I pay $16 for a thin piece of fish (grouper?) and I get a packet of Kraft tartar sauce? The fries were way over cooked and dry as well. I ordered a beer $4.50 for a bottle of Land Shark? C'mon now. I live here in Florida in beach town now and a place like this makes me feel bad for people that are visiting. This...is not representative of what I consider a good beach bar / restaurant. Yes, it has a "locals" feel which is cool...but aside from that....not a place I would return to. If it was a busy day I could let things go and give it another shot, but there was no excuse for the value proposition. I will say our server was great and she was tipped well. It's not her fault about the food quality and prices. The rest of the family were okay with there food. One had shrimp cocktail, one had a kids menu item and one had "grouper" fingers. ll of which looked like something you could buy at a grocery store and cook at home. Like I said...un-remarkable. This place is a good candidate for a "make-over". read more

We've come to this restaurant several times with family when we were in town for a visit. The food has been just ok for me. Everyone else liked it in the past. We went midweek, and the food was awful. I had broiled grouper which was overcooked and what looked to be heated frozen vegetables. That alone earns the dinner a zero. The others in the group said the oysters were awful, they couldn't even eat them all. They tasted old and oily. One person had a shrimp basket and she said they tasted off not as good as usual. Maybe it was the oil and it needed to be changed from being overused? The karaoke was fun, but that's it. I've never written a bad review before, but I couldn't let this go without rating/comment. read more

Went to the Elephant with friends because Gummy Sharks was playing and we really all like the band! We all love to dance and have a few drinks! The band was great as usual, but if your having mixed drinks, just buy soda as the drinks are the weakest in all of Englewood! Rum and coke was all coke. My nephew had a pina colada the had no alcohol, and no, it was not a Virgin Colada, at least we weren't charged that way! Hoping this review along with others will get them to change their ways. I ordered the the blackened grouper sandwich! For one it was talapia and not grouper! Also the fish had a metallic taste! Their calamari was rubbery and no taste! The manager did not care ! I returned my food and did not bother ordering anything else! We will never go back! read more

My family of four had lunch at the WEP today. Walked in and got seated by 1:20 at an outside table. So far so good! From that point on, it was all down hill and easily the worst experience I have had at a restaurant in the past 20 years. Why this place is even open is a mystery to me. Filthiest restaurant ever from restrooms to garbage on the floor; can't imagine what the kitchen looked like; love to read the last health inspector's report! Table was dirty and we asked for a towel to wipe it down; treated like the filth that remained on the table. We ordered our lunch entrees around 1:50, much to my chagrin, and it took one hour to get them. The food was cold, unappetizing and inedible! We all took a bite and asked for the check; we are not people to make a scene! To her credit, our waitress asked if she could heat up our food! Are you kidding, she knew it was awful and still served it. My advice to all, avoid this place like the plague, otherwise there is a good chance you will get something that feels like the plague!!!! read more

Went for dinner on karaoke night. Our server was very nice and was able to answer all our questions. We loved the laid back, open air atmosphere. Kids watched the fish off the dock and good music. Grilled shrimp trunk (tortilla wrap) was good with the avocado and tomatoes. Off put with sauce prepackaged on the side. Hubby got chef salad and he said it was good and filling. We really enjoyed the strawberry colada and turtle tea! Took away a star for everything being a bit overpriced. But we will be back. read more

Very lively place. Live music entertainment. Good food,a lot of choices. A bit loud for the older crowd. We go for the broasted half chicken with roasted potato wedges and coleslaw, best chicken in town. We have never had any problems ordering or receiving our order. WHITE ELEPHANT-Englewood: What a terrible experience! We arrived around 5:00 and ordered cocktails and they were watered down. We ordered fish baskets and fries at 6:00 at 6:45 I finally saw the server and asked where the dinner was. She said sorry and it was on the way. 7:00 came and it was ice cold! The manager said it was a server error and he would take care of the dinner. I honestly didn't want to eat cold deep fried shrimp. He said that the server was having personal issues and he was pulling her from any new tables. What do I see after that... her waiting on 2 new tables and her talking to that same manager. Having worked a long time in the restaurant business, I am very patient about the time food takes to come out of the kitchen and disgruntled waitstaff. But this place is a new low. Service and food were generally terrible. The best part of my meal was the hot sauce for the wings (which I used for my barely edible fries) which probably came from Sysco. My waiter was at the bar eating sushi with chopsticks after he put in our order and threatened to quit if he "got the 12 top coming in." So many other great places to eat on Englewood Beach... go to any of them instead. read more

We came in a got seated promptly. The hospitality stopped there. It took me waiting an hour for food and then getting cold fish and not even what I ordered. I have worked in restaurants many times and service that is this terrible is really hard to come by. I am absolutely positive that my server was stoned out of her mind. So we waited an additional hour for the one remaining guest to get her sandwich. Finally after many complaints we decided just to leave. We were not going to pay and we told them that no one said anything until we got to the car and someone followed us out a took a picture of our license plate! So this whole time there is a bar manager who says he is the boss and so I walk back in not wanting problems with the local law and magically the owner appears in the restaurant. He doesn't even know what's going on. I told him and he still asked me to pay! Never ever eat here. Food and service is horrible. I think a place like this should be avoided at all costs. read more
