What an adorable restaurant! If you are looking for a cozy, beautiful brunch spot, this is definitely it. They do offer quite an array of brunch items. When we sat down, the server brought a small bowl of complimentary popcorn, which was a welcoming touch. My nephew ordered the short rib benny and he cleaned off the plate. He thought it was a savory bomb. I had him try their horchata, which was his first time trying, and he loved it. I ordered the Thai chicken salad. I like that they use Goffle Road chicken and it came out nice and tender. The veggies were fresh and good quality. I also thought the portion size was perfect. I asked for the dressing on the side and the dressing came in two small cups. One seemed to be a mix of soy and oil, I think there was a bit of sesame oil too. The other was a creamy dressing. I was expecting, nutty, sweet and savory dressing, but it was kind of bland mayo like dressing. The dressing would have also benefited from acid like lime juice. While I liked the salad, the dressing was a let down, so I'm not sure if I would order that dish again, The service was wonderful, everyone was smiling and our server was attentive. White Maple Café in Ridgewood is such a gem. The atmosphere alone is worth a visit; gorgeous, rustic, and boho with a really cozy, welcoming vibe. Everything here is clearly made fresh, which absolutely shows in the quality and flavor. The mulled cider is incredible, and their soups are truly to die for (comforting, rich, and perfectly done)!! I'm giving it four stars only because if you're in a hurry, this probably isn't the spot. Service takes a bit of time, but that's the trade-off for how fresh everything is. The staff were friendly, but service was slow due to the fact that all the tables were occupied. They start you off with a bowl of popcorn which was tasty. We've been here in the past and actually enjoyed this place, but unfortunately, it's really gone downhill. It started when we sat at one of the outdoor tables; our server didn't even bother to clean it. I asked if it could be wiped down, and instead of doing it herself, she handed me some wipes so I could clean it. That probably should've been my first red flag to leave. They put a small bowl of popcorn on the table as a complimentary snack, but only gave one bowl even though we were sitting at two tables. I had to ask for another one, and it took about 15 minutes to arrive. It's a small thing and was complimentary, but if you're going to offer something, it makes sense to bring enough for everyone. The same lack of common sense showed up when we had to ask for more cups for water--and silverware. There were five of us, and they gave us two of each. Were we expected to share? We ordered the kids pancakes (which come as two large ones), but they were overcooked and dry. We also got the kids' scrambled eggs with bacon--my son actually liked that. The steak and eggs were fine, but a very small portion for the premium price. The crispy chicken sandwich from the specials menu was disappointing. The piece of chicken was so thin and over-breaded that it felt like I was just eating fried breadcrumbs and bread with no chicken. I asked for extra vodka sauce because it was so dry, and it took over 10 minutes and multiple requests to get it, by then I was over eating just bread with sauce. The pistachio latte was awful--basically watered-down milk with zero flavor. To top it all off, when the bill came, the woman stood right next to us, clearly waiting for us to pay. It felt very pushy as if she was trying to rush us to not see the extra charges on the bill. I had to ask her for a moment to review the check. I'm glad I did, because they tried to overcharge us for my son's kids' meal by nearly $10. His kids meal was listed on the menu as $10 for scrambled eggs and bacon. They charged us for 2 scrambled eggs for $13 and then an additional fee for bacon. On top of that, they added a credit card processing fee, even though we were paying in cash. I asked about it and was told it's automatically added to the bill. I had to insist they remove it from the bill as I was paying cash. They also automatically add tip which I hate because that's the exact reason why we received awful and slow service. Sorry, but will not be back to this establishment. read more

We went there for Mother's Day, and I think that was one of our worst experiences. First of all, the menu they had on the table was very unprofessional. They only gave you options that felt like they were pushing on you. We had the Caesar salad, and it had no taste. The lamb chops I had were some of the worst I've had in my life, and I go to restaurants all the time. The service was really bad. The prices were way too high, and I think they were trying to take advantage of people for Mother's Day. Overall, it was a very bad experience, and I wouldn't recommend anyone to go to this place. read more

Place was super cute. Wait staff was a little slow. I got their veggie omelette which came with hashbrowns. The omelette itself was OK. The eggs were dry though which was odd, but the hashbrowns were so incredibly delicious. They were crispy and perfectly salted. I probably would've given this place more than two stars had we not been asked leave immediately after paying the bill and only being there maybe an hour and 15 minutes. We were told another reservation for our two seater was here but there were also plenty of other seats within the restaurant including a two seater directly behind us. It felt like we were rushed out of there immediately after paying our bill and that the restaurant didn't really care that we wanted to sit there and talk for a little longer. Cute and super clean, family-run cafe located in the heart of Ridgewood. The owner was very friendly and our waitor was helpful, informative and attentive. None of us could decide what we wanted to eat and he was very honest about the menu items which helped tremendously. The food was delicious - you can taste the freshness in every bite. We ordered the ricotta board, mini scones, huevos rancheros with a side house salad, chicken salad sandwhich, tomato bisque, mushroom and potato soup, lava cake and apple cobbler. The mini scones come with maple butter and strawberry preserves which was a great combo! I highly recommend checking out the tomato bisque - it was creamy with crunchy croutons ontop and the taste kind of reminded me of vodka sauce. The food is actually pretty good. Unfortunately the service is hit or miss. There are times when you have to wait for service longer than expected. The staff is also hit or miss. We have had great experiences and also have been pretty much ignored. It appears to be a lack of staff. Had dinner here last night and it was absolutely delicious! As soon as you are seated, thy put a small bowl of popcorn to pick at while you are looking at the menu. The seasoning on it was sooo good. For appetizers, we ordered the ricotta board and the bruschetta. The bread on the bruschetta was well toasted and not soggy. It had a thin layer of goat cheese and well seasoned tomatoes with fresh basil. The ricotta board included fresh toasted slices of bread, deliciously seasoned ricotta, honey and fig jam. JUST YUM! The branzino was pure perfection! Well seasoned and perfectly cooked, it had a crispy top and flaky, melt-in-your-mouth filet. The red curry seafood dish was to die for! A generous amount of seafood, served over rice and with a good amount of kick to it. Finally, the service was great! The owners walked around the dining room, making sure everything is perfect. They stopped and chatted with customers. Very warm and friendly people. The whole ambiance and experience was 10/10. We can't wait to go back and try other dishes on the menu! read more

I visited White Maple Cafe the week before last for lunch on a weekday and absolutely loved the atmosphere. The space is beautiful, bright, and very welcoming. It is such a great place to sit and enjoy lunch. Our server, Finley, provided great service. She has such a lively personality and a wonderful attitude, which really made the experience enjoyable. It is honestly hard to find great service these days and she is definitely a keeper. I ordered the Caprese sandwich. It came out cold at first, so I sent it back and it came back warm. The Caprese itself was not quite as good as it could have been, but the mocha latte was delicious and a really good size. Overall, I had a nice experience and would definitely return, and I would love to try something different from the menu next time. read more

My friends and I went to White Maple for lunch today. We were celebrating a friend's birthday. The cafe was super cozy! The staff were very kind. When we got there, we were given a bowl of sugared popcorn. It was so sweet and tasty. For lunch, I had the Grass Fed Burger. It was incredibly delicious! I loved the spicy chipotle mayo and the fries were to die for. The burger tasted like nothing I've ever had. I could've done without the tomato remoulade though. I also drank the Main Squeeze Cocktail. It was the perfect blend of fruit flavors. My friends said they really enjoyed their meals as well: the Short Rib Benny, the Salmon Benny, and the Mexican Omlette. Our only issue was the wait time. The small cafe was pretty busy, but we felt like we waited a long, long time for our food and I had to flag down a waitress to get her to serve us in the first place. We've been here a number of times and dropped in for a quick lunch while shopping. It's located on the main strip along Ridgewood Ave downtown. Ambiance is American cafe with about 20 tables, coffee bar and a few outdoor seating areas. Staff is very friendly and seated us quickly. However the staff seemed to be all new since the last we came and there so wondered if management changed or other? Menu looks the same with sandwiches, soups, salad, and a few main dishes. It also includes a number of brunch items from French toast to several Benedict's. We opted for savory lunch items which were tasty including rh chicken salad sandwich and burger. Service was okay but some lag. They don't notice we had finished so had to flag down staff to ask for to-go box. Assuming they knew we were done, we waited for our check which never came so flagged them down again. It wasn't a big deal but those small details are important and may reflect other details. Pros: - Tons of parking - The waitress was friendly and polite - It has a cute, rustic ambiance - It has reasonable prices for the area; a brunch of 4-5 people was less than $100 before tip (shared appetizer) Cons: - Our table was not ready when we came (we made a reservation), and we were defaulted to a table right next to the door. It was below 50 that day, and they didn't have the heat on, so it was a very uncomfortable place to sit. - Food was bland and not cooked correctly (scones were cold and rock-hard; french toast was overcooked, shriveled, too tough to cut; pancakes tasted like they were made from Bisquick - they had that 'plastic-y' taste to them; lox tasted raw and not smoked at all; avocado was not ripe). - They were hurrying us out a bit, only giving us an hour for five people. I saw that the owner is open to improving the food quality based on their replies. I am hopeful that will improve! It has a lot of potential. read more

White Maple came as a recommendation from a friend and it did not disappoint. The vibe of the place is relaxed, especially in the afternoon hours of the weekday. The waiter was good at checking in with us throughout our visit and making sure we had what we needed. For starters we had the baked mac and cheese and for mains we had the poke bowl, brisket sandwich, and chicken salad sandwich. All good choices and tasty. However, the food was pretty disappointing for the price :( Everything we got is shown in the photo, and it was a little over $70 after the tip (which is crazy for a simple breakfast!) With that price mark I would at least expect larger portions, but the only thing that was larger was the latte (very pretty though). I came for Sunday lunch while visiting with family. Ridgewood is such a cute town with a big downtown with lots of stores. I found this place on yelp and I'm glad we did. We didn't have to wait and the service was great. I ordered the grilled chicken mozzarella panini which was pretty decent. My daughter ordered the chicken fingers and french fries which she enjoyed. My daughters aunt ordered the huevos rancheros. They have gluten free options which came in handy for my daughters aunt strict diet. They also give complementary popcorn when you first down. I had high hopes for this place given the beautiful ambiance and the price point, but unfortunately, this fell short for me. The staff was friendly and the restaurant is beautiful and clean, so this review is solely about the food, which was lackluster. Instead of table bread, you receive complimentary popcorn. This is a cute idea, but the popcorn is barely flavored or salted at all. You could tell they attempted to flavor it due to the seasoning on some of the kernels, but none of us could tell what it was supposed to taste like. To start, we got the Ricotta Board -- the sourdough bread it came with was good, as was the honey, but the ricotta was grainy and not super flavorful, and the fig jam was dense and felt/tasted like mashed up figs versus a typical jam. For my entree, I chose the grilled salmon, and for $33 I was expecting a fatter filet, riper mango, and at least a better presentation. The salmon tasted fine (was nothing to write home about) but was slightly over cooked and overall, this just fell flat. This place is so cute, but not sure I'll be back here. read more

Ate there again last week. I never write anything until I've been somewhere a few times. The food was great, again. I usually have the salmon, shrimp and grits, fish tacos or hanger steak. All are excellent. Our waiter was Anthony. He has been our waiter several times. He's great. Attentive. Food arrives hot and he is friendly. I'll admit I don't love the decor. Who doesn't love walking around the town of Ridgewood right? It's so cozy and filled with tons of shops and restaurants - an easy way to spend a Saturday afternoon with visiting family. There was no reservation needed, we just popped right in - the restaurant was fairly empty, we had assumed because it was still quite early in the day. We were quickly seated inside the restaurant on a table that comfortably fit the 4 of us - the server quickly arrived shortly after we sat down with water and popcorn. A nice little treat for all of us to snack on while we browsed through the menu and enjoyed the restaurants ambiance. We ordered: - The short rib sandwich and fries which was eh, there was no real flavor to the sandwich. - The tomato bisque which was delicious, my cousin was ready to lick the bowl clean - The grilled chicken and mozzarella panini - a classic that lacked any wow factor - The bacon grilled cheese panini pretty tasty, can you really go wrong with anything bacon related?
