As part of a fundraiser, a group of us (16 in total) went to the Swan last evening. Both the bar and restaurant are very nicely decorated and had that "farm house" cozy feel. The service, food, beer selection and Friday night specials were excellent. At our table we had a few orders of buffalo wraps and the nachos grande. Both were excellent. Our waitress was fantastic. It seemed like every time we turned around she was there asking what else we needed (and it was busy). My wife and I love the White Swan. We eat here several times a month. Great reasonably priced food. Wonderful variety of specials. Outstanding staff of servers and bartenders. The owner really makes everyone feel right at home. Huge bar area with lots of TVs to watch numerous sports at the same time. Good for families (but keep them out of the bar. That's for adults). My only complaint is that they used to have the best ribs in town, but for some reason dropped them from the menu. read more

My husband and I have been here many times. I'll be honest, it's not my favorite but it was his turn to pick and he just loves this place. When we arrived we thought "wow, this place is busy tonight" but we still went in. Found a spot at the bar where a couple was just leaving. Sat down and the bartender never acknowledged us. Ok, we realize you're busy getting other guests drink but a "hey folks I'll be right with you" would have nice. Finally order two bottle beers, easiest drinks ever for a bartender. He never offers for us to see a food menu, so my husband asks "can we see menus when you get a chance" his response is why I'm writing this review. He responded "kitchens on a freeze right now but I'll check for you".....what's that mean???? He walks over to a women who is clearly the manger, asks about food and she says "if they wanna wait". The bartender NEVER returns to tell us anything. We finish our beers, throw $8 down on the bar just as the bartender asks if we want another round. "No, just the check". We left and went to Lincoln House in Ephrata where we had a great dinner sitting at the bar. read more

We went on pasta night and both decided to take advantage of the $10 a plate meal thinking that we would both have something left over for lunch. To our dismay, we both received a cereal size bowl of pasta. The menu stated that the pasta dishes included salad and bread; however, we received neither. We both went home hungry. I wanted to take my mom out for dinner after I finished up at work, and she suggested this place. I walked in to a full bar as their dining section was booked for parties. No problem. We were waiting for a place to be opened up at the bar. As we were chatting with an employee, the manager came up to me and said that I needed to take my hood down for his "facial recognition security software" meanwhile, there were other patrons with hats on. I understand I have purple hair and was wearing work clothes, but it's a freaking bar! Makes me wonder if my grandmother would be welcome should she be wearing a hijab. It's definitely not "fine dining". I feel like I was definitely profiled, as it turns out, I have done research on "policing and surveillance", would love to provide sources if I could, and security systems don't need you to put your hood down. I felt judged and unwelcome, like he didn't want "my kind" there, whatever in the world that might mean! There's definitely a bunch of other great places to dine in Lititz, but not here! I've only been there once and will never go back. The man who seemed to be in charge (assuming he's the manager or owner) was extremely rude to his staff and to us as patrons. When overhearing a discussion I was having about politics, he told me to, "Get out of his restaurant" when he heard my political affiliation. The interior is very nicely decorated and the service was very nice, although a little slow. The food was terrible. I 'm amazed by the raves about the crabcake. My friend had the crabcake sandwich, and it smelled so bad the other diners in the room looked around for the source of the smell when it was served to him. A little boy at the table next to us actually held his nose and yelled "yuck!" I had the fettucine in pesto sauce, which consisted of mushrooms, a small amount of fettucine, and a ridiculous amount of sliced onions. All this sat in a pool of green oil. Because I was so hungry I ate most of this, knowing I would regret it later. At 3:30am I woke up retching and was sick most of the day. My friend returned his crabcake after a few bites because it tasted as bad as it smelled. I have to say the server did remove it from the bill and gave us a dessert to take home. Maybe I caught them on a bad day, but getting sick will keep me from giving them a second try. read more

White Swan Restaurant is Finally Open Again! White Swan is a great neighborhood restaurant that offers a diverse menu in a casual and friendly atmosphere. My first experience was during lunch service six weeks after their re-opening having undergone extensive exterior and interior renovations under new ownership. Beautiful hardwood floors run throughout two dining rooms and a full-service bar which also offers seating for diners. The walls are painted rich contemporary colors which along with the seating compliment the building nicely and mesh for a perfect blend of traditional old and fresh new - just what the 'ole Swan needed! A warm welcome for sure when one enters the door into the dining room! As I entered others were gathering for business lunches and still others for casual lunches. I was greeted by a friendly bartender with whom I chatted while I scanned the new menu offerings including the usual pub-grub, soups, salads and sandwiches and a menu for the kiddies too. The burgers are a whopping 1/2lb. and char-broiled too! They offer BBQ ribs and also Combo platters that give you a choice to pick one or two of the ribs, chicken, or fried shrimp - nice! Prime Rib on Fri and Sat., crab cakes and an array of pasta dishes. I decided to try the crab cake because they claimed it to be "...no fillers.." No fillers - no kidding! It was delicious. I would rate the crab cake a "10" on a scale of 1-10...It was ample sized, broiled to perfection. The fresh cut fries were a pleasant surprise - they weren't listed as such on the menu. They were crispy, just slightly greasy and salty - terrific. A great value at $8.95. I decided to return for dinner a few weeks later on a Saturday evening. It was full, but not PACKED, certainly a manageable crowd - everyone seemed like they were having a great time. The staff was friendly, albeit the service a little slow and not feeling the vibe of a well serviced engine - but hey they are new at this, just a few weeks in - gotta cut them a break for goodness sakes, it's going to be awhile before they collectively pick up their rhythm ya know? I wanted to try the Prime Rib - they were sold out at 7pm (HUH?)- decided to try the Tenderloin Tips - they were HORRIBLE! They were tough; more like sir-loin strips NOT tender-loin tips. Really, I've been a foodie for a long time - folks NEVER order "tips" dining out there almost NEVER good - there is a reason why you don't see them on menus anywhere! They appear on "Swan's " new menu three times, which intrigued me...I thought perhaps they had a handle on this "rarely done well dish." I don't fault them really - it's a tough dish. (no pun intended) My well-intended word of advice is, "Get these Tips off your menu AND quick! You are doing a great job - have a great menu - don't let this one unforgiving dish weigh your menu down! Didn't try dessert, but on my next visit I 'll be sure to save room! Planning ahead...a must try will have to be the crab dip appetizer for sure and maybe one of the many pasta specialties - or a juicy char-broiled burger...hmm...decisions, decisions! I remember when the Swan was an extreme dive to avoid. After a couple of false starts, some intelligent ownership has taken over and has changed The Swan in to a go-to destination. We've been there twice within the last 3 weeks, and I can't say enough about the place. The first time was on a Friday evening when my wife and I took our youngest, 15, for a spur of the moment Friday night supper. I had the scallops special which was fantastic. Service was perfect. Tis past Saturday [March 7] I took my extended family there for supper and had a great time. The service was top notch. Stop in! read more

Food was good. We shared the prime rib. A bit fatty but otherwise delicious. Service was terribly slow. If you see the waitress you better grab her otherwise you don't know when you will see her again. Good atmosphere. read more

We had a very nice lunch. The White Swan was clean and warmly appointed. Service was attentive and laid back making for a relaxed holiday meal. Two of us had the broiled fish sandwich. The flounder was moist and well seasoned and every who tasted them loved the fries. another had the fried chicken tenders and was pleased with the selection. Was very excited when I found out the swan was going to be renovated and reopened. Been I think two years now and the menu has yet to be changed or added too. On that note, the food is not horrible but it definitely leaves nothing to be desired. After trying a few things on the menu the only thing I order is the French dip. I'm a sucker for fresh cut fries and I like them here. Never in any hurry to go to the swan for food. The tap selection is poor at best. Heavy miller light crowd around the bar. Hard to believe that a bar as nicely renovated as the swan is, that its not capatilizing on the craft beer and gastro pub scene. We've visited the White Swan twice in the past 2 months. The renovation is indeed beautiful; however, this establishment has some glaring issues that need to be addressed. On both occasions, we went early on a Sat. night. They do not accept reservations. Each time, the place was packed, and there is literally no where to wait. We were elbow to elbow in a jam-packed bar area. Each time we waited more than an hour, only to be seated at a tiny bar table. All of the people who were waiting were piled around us. To say it was claustrophobic is putting it mildly. We could see that there were delays in getting tables cleaned up so that the next group could be seated. We of course waited quite a long time for our meals. The food and menu selection was OK, but nothing more. Certainly not worth the wait. The wait staff and bar tenders were friendly enough, and they did try to please, but each time the hostess seemed scattered and overwhelmed. Given the hoardes, management should consider hiring an experienced adult to supervise. We saw no one beyond the age of 21 managing the work flow. It was just a bunch of kids floundering to accomodate the numerous customers. We've crossed White Swan off our list for now because the long wait in a jammed bar, slow service, and mediocre food in cramped conditions isn't our idea of a good time. read more
