Great local coffee shop! Baristas are always so nice and take the time to make your drink properly, i would take quality over quantity any day. Found this place on tictok, I try to support local, especially POC owned business when traveling. The lady at the counter gave a great rec for a coffee drink. I got the iced hazelnut latte. My husband and I just enjoyed being offered coffee from today's Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony, today. I got to sit and ask some questions about the roaring process and the various reasons for celebrating with a coffee celebration, with the lovely person roasting and preparing the delightful treat. I highly recommend the Whittier Cafe on any day but Sundays at 2pm are when coffee ceremony is regularly being held. If you're in the Whittier neighborhood while in Denver, this place is definitely worth stopping in for a bite or a drink. On my last morning during a recent trip to Denver, I used my trusty Yelp app to find a great spot for that last breakfast. Whittier Cafe was one of the first spots to pop up, and was close to our Airbnb, so we made our way over there. After parking on the street (easy to do, and free), we popped in, where we were greeted by a friendly barista, who gave us some recommendations after we asked. I decided on a breakfast scone and a light roast coffee, and I sipped on my coffee while my scone was heated. Once I had it, we swung over to a couple of barstools and sat down to enjoy. Both the coffee and the scone were delicious, but I just loved the laid-back, eclectic vibe of the place. There were some obvious regulars who stopped in while we were there, and you could easily feel the friendly, neighborhood vibe that prevails. It also looks like they have a fantastic covered patio for enjoying visits later in the day -- I only hope that I'll be back sometime soon to get to enjoy it! My partner and I love this place, good atmosphere, great quality & prices. We rarely have anything to complain about, however his order has been screwed up about 3x now. On two occasions he ordered a vegan burrito, and after waiting a while, was told that they were sold out (and was offered a vegan panini to substitute, the second time they made the mistake of putting cheese on it). Writing this review after waiting 15 mins for our food, only to find out that they hadn't made his burrito at all. It seems this place could benefit from either better staffing to handle rushes, or a more organized system for ticket orders. We're a little bummed & wanted to give some feedback.~ small edit: we did receive an apology pastry, & it's also worth mentioning that the staff is always really sweet read more

What a neat place. The staff was INCREDIBLY friendly and accommodating. They answered our questions very nicely and were super helpful and just all around pleasant. That alone would've garnered a 5 star review in my opinion. The 2 people working deserve recognition, their names were Ray and Annalise (probably spelled them wrong) and they really made the experience great. Then we got out drinks and food. The cold brew was very well made and the iced tea selection was varied and tasty. The paninis were out of this world. I got the veggie with Turkey and it was so good and so flavorful and packed with a bunch of different tasty veggies. We also got the Turkey and avocado which was really good. Overall really like the welcoming atmosphere of the place and the outdoor patio was awesome too. We had a great experience. read more

Service here is TERRIBLE! Everything takes so long, orders are usually incorrect, and what's worse is that the staff blames the customer. Ordered a black coffee today, waited over 20 minutes, and then the guy yelled at me and said I never ordered ... meanwhile I'm holding the order ticket in my hand. Then he makes a caramel mocha something when all I wanted was a black coffee, and then accused me of ordering the wrong thing? Again... I'm holding the ticket in my hand that says black coffee. Go ANYWHERE else. Staff is rude and combative. read more

Food and drinks were great! But the staff left things to be desired. The barista informed me that only a portion of the patio is dog friendly, didn't ask if my food was for here or to go, and wasn't very friendly. I was there for two hours for lunch so my order was for there, and dogs were all over the patio, not in just her decided "designated section". If you're going to enforce a rule, I suggest it's enforced for everyone and not just those who ask out of respect for the establishment. read more

This spot rocks! The owner is super sweet and the staff is so knowledgeable about the coffee and teas. The smells you get when you enter take you out of town and into a new world. If you want to bring your dog you can sit outside and enjoy your drink and see the beautiful homes and artwork that surrounds the building. Personally, I believe this place is a little gem and I hope others from Colorado and elsewhere find this place and continue to support it. Just had the loveliest experience at Whittier Cafe! Glad I discovered this gem. This spot is all sorts of cozy and wonderful. My favorite parts about it: + Ample street parking! It can be hard to find parking for long periods of time at lots of my local fave coffee shops, so this was a breath of fresh air. + The coffee was delish. I had a simple Americano with coconut milk and could go for another right now. They also had some yummy looking breakfast pastries, snacks, and beer and wine (you know I'll be back for that last one). + The community feel here is top notch. I met the owner who was super sweet and you can tell put a ton of love into this place. Some of the dishes, pottery and a mural were made by a local artist. They have a gorgeous little patio with a tiny stage for live music, and they have traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremonies every Sunday from 2-4 pm. + Free wifi and lots of tables for meeting or working (can I get a what what?). read more

I love this cafe. Such a neighborhood gem tucked away in City Park/ Whittier. Their coffee is great and the staff is very friendly. What a lovely experience at Whittier Cafe! I arrived around 7:45 am and was treated to super friendly service, a delicious smoothie on the spacious and colorful patio, and fast free WiFi. I enjoyed the art on the walls, the free library, and the activist nature of the place (the bathroom had a display of funny protest signs). This is also a black owned business which I was happy to support. What a gem! I will definitely be back to enjoy the patio another morning. read more

Visited Whittier Cafe again yesterday and we were absolutely blown away by the fantastic customer service. When we got there, it was BUSY. The two girls working were running around as quickly as they could to get everything done, but it was a definite rush. We witnessed people being snippy (if you see a line, expect to wait in a line and don't get upset about it!), which was unfortunate, but the girl working the counter did not let her smile or friendly demeanor slip for a second. We ordered coffees and breakfast burritos to-go as we planned on strolling around with them at the zoo, and sat to wait the 10 minutes the breakfast burritos take to heat up. After a few minutes the girl working the counter let us know apologetically that she had forgotten to put our burritos in the oven, but she just did and would we like something on her while we waited? She was so sweet when she delivered the message, and had been so unbelievably slammed, who could be upset? We told her no thank you, we weren't in a rush, and went back to sipping the absolutely delicious latte and coffee she had made us. She delivered our breakfast burritos a short while later, still with a smile, and off we went. When we opened the bags to dig in (burritos were DELICIOUS, by the way), we noticed that each of our bags had a chocolate chip cookie slipped in. To err is human, especially when there are twenty people waiting at a counter with only two working, but to handle a mistake which such grace, composure, and sweet treats was a wonderful thing to see. I fell in love with this little coffee shop. I went on Sunday for the Ethiopian coffee ceremony, which gave me something cool to do on my last day in Denver. Not only were the coffee samples so rich in flavor, but I had the best latte I've ever had in my life. It's the perfect place to charge your phone, work from your laptop, or just hang out. The outdoor seating area looks so cute too. The staff is so friendly, and they even had complimentary popcorn for all guests to enjoy. Coming here is guaranteed to make you smile! read more

I love Whittier Cafe! even though I live in the Wash Park area of Denver [with plentiful coffee shops], I drive 20 minutes northeast to this gem of City Park. this is a lovely neighborhood coffee shop with a lot of heart. -their coffee + food offerings are tasty AND affordable. -they have weekly Ethiopian coffee rituals on Sunday afternoons, which are absolutely lovely to experience. -they have plentiful seating and outlets, including outdoor seating with a great patio! -lots of parking availability! -LONG HOURS!
