NEVER purchase from this company. I bought a jacket that was supposed to be warm for colder winters and when I went to return it, they wouldn't let me because I used a coupon for a discount. This was never indicated to me throughout the entire buying process. What a sham. This is such a fun store for window shopping: outdoor and boho clothing, eco-stylish shoes, quirky toys, garden accessories, and camping equipment. I always find fun stocking stuffers here, and I always lust after some of the shoes and accessories. They carry a lot of shoes that try to bridge the style-comfort gap, like Born, Simple, Toms, and Dansko. They also have more outdoorsy brands like Chacos, Merrill, and those hideous kind with individual toes. I may buy more shoes here than at any other store in town. However, I hear they may stop carrying Simple in the future, which really bums me out. Also, sale items aren't well organized, so bargain hunting is more like a scavenger hunt here. The prices are on the higher end, and the offerings are more fashion-and-fun than a place like REI would be. But the place is full of fun things to look at, no matter what your age or interests. And I almost always end up buying something. read more

My husband and I are skydivers, each with new skydiving rigs (ie. Very expensive equipment), and went into Whole Earth to find duffel bags in which to carry our gear when traveling. Eric, the floor sales person, not only gave valuable suggestions, but had paid attention to another customer shopping for the same thing enough to give us feedback about *his* experience. Eric's recommendations were at a lower cost, with a better warranty, and he encouraged us to bring the items back if they weren't to our satisfaction, no questions asked. Phenomenal service, got exactly what we went in for, and will continue to be loyal patrons of the Whole Earth company. read more

I have been a faithful customer of Whole Earth for the past 5 years. Even with the internet, I thought that it was important to buy locally and this store has many of the brands that my family likes. That changed today. I dropped in at 10:15 to finish picking up gifts. The store was busy but it was manageable. As I walked toward the counter, I watched an older gentlemen walk to one of the registers for assistance. One of the people behind the register asked him what he needed and went to retrieve it. I stood behind him and waited patiently for the employee to return. A few minutes passed and a new employee went to that register to help another customer. I was a little surprised since I was standing there. The customer asked me if I was in line. The employee answered for me and she said that the line was in a different place. The older gentlemen was still standing in line waiting for assistance. I asked her if this was a line since it obviously was and she again told me that the line started at a different register. The man she proceeded to help the customer who asked me if this was a line. I don't know why this happened. I was not rude to her and my hands were full of clothing. I assume that she was having a bad day as I don't want to assume that there was any deeper motive for her conduct. I will note that there were other customers who saw this and they looked at me after this event. I am not sure what they thought if this but I am not happy about the service or the treatment. This is a cool place to have in San Antonio. Full of outdoor equipment including tents, bottles, backpacks, stoves, etc. Also has lots of men's and women's outdoor apparel. Lots of North Face and Patagonia. It gets 3 stars because the service was lacking today when we went in. There wasn't anyone working in the shoe area and when we finally found someone he acted put out about having to help us. Regardless, good place for outdoor clothing and gear. read more

I love this store, BUT I only buy things on sale there. It charges MSRP for everything, but is not afraid to mark stuff down when it's out of season. For example: North Face Apex for $65, Hobo clutch $39. Woohoo best buys ever! The travel stuff and kids toys are awesome stuff to browse. I love how the stuff is so random there. You go to one corner of the store and see glow in the dark slinky's then the other corner and OOH organic underwear. I have major ADD so this store is perfect for me. read more

Whole Earth Provision Co. is a fantastic store located in the Quarry Market (apparently the original store is in Austin). I find that Whole Earth is most fun when browsing -- for yourself or a gift, but it's also great place to buy travel-related accessories. I've found myself there, combing the travel section, the night before I'm leaving on a trip, on more than one occasion. In addition to the travel stuff, they have all kinds of really fun science type toys for kids (the kind of stuff you typically find at the Discovery Store or whatever), lots of really fun and interesting books, windchimes, clothes (for outdoor/active, but a lot of the stuff is often very cute!), shoes/sandals, and other outdoor stuff. Definately worth a stop into this store if you haven't been before! read more

My dude and his family and work buddies all buy there Merrels from here! never been disappointed. But lovely store. Friendly staff, very roomy, quiet and calm. It's perfect. My boyfriend got his first pair of merrels about two years ago after a year of wearing them there was a whole in the bottom and so we took them back in the box we bought them in and as promised they took them in for repair but wound up giving us a 140 dollar gift card instead. His 2nd pair of Merrels make him much happier. :D read more

Pretty much a mini REI mixed with Urban Outfitters. I was pretty ecstatic that they sell North Face and TOMS, and was even more over the moon at all the pointless stuff they sell that you know you just want to buy 'just cause.' Super cool store for the outdoorsy person. Heck, even for the non-outdoorsy person (me). This store is the perfect place to find a gift for the not easy to shop for. From tents to jewelry, shoes to hammocks, you can easily spend hours in here. The price can be a bit much, but the variety is huge. Academy or Walmart probably carry a lot of the same camping stuff at a cheaper price, but there are so many other really neat things here that you just couldn't find at those other stores. Like I said, this is a great place to find a gift. They do have the occasional sale here, so that may be the best time to check this place out. read more

By looking at the title of this place, I thought this was some type of organic food store. Well, I was wrong. Instead it's a nice outdoor store full of camping gear, clothing and products. A large store, typical of the size of a normal REI and typical of the products they sell. I found many things I wasn't looking for but end up buying any ways. This is my new favorite store in San Antonio! And that's saying a lot because I love central market. The store is like an even more amazing version of an REI. The employees are incredibly helpful and go above and beyond to help especially my cashier and French from the climbing section. French gave me climbing tips and was patient as I tried on every shoe they had in the store and finally found the perfect climbing shoe. He was even able to order the shoe in another size from a different store if needed and I was able to use their climbing board. I couldn't ask for better assistance. The sales are also awesome and military gets a discount on top of that which the cashier was sure to ask about. Can't wait to go back! read more

I also went here to check on their North Face gear not much selection, you're better off at the R.E.I in Round Rock Texas for that stuff. It's all outdoors gear that's priced wayyyy too high but if you're like me and love to window shop the booshy stores and then head over to the bargain bins like in target, walmart, academy. etc do just that. it's also got a bigger range of TOMS shoes if that's what you're into, if not you can mosey on down to the whole foods store. the prices are about the same just more patterns to look at. read more

Every time I go to the Quarry I almost always end up wandering into this store. Something about it always draws me back. Maybe because it reminds me of my hometown Austin, but whatever it is, I always find something new and eclectic. Whole Earth has a great selection of outdoor goods and apparel. I'm a pretty big yogi, and I love their selection of yoga clothes and gear. They have the largest selection of Toms that I've seen as well as a great North Face selection. While a little pricey, one can usually find some good deals in their sale section. read more

every time I go traveling I stop off at whole earth. the only thing I hate about it is that it's pretty expensive. but for the high quality equipment you get you sort of feel fine about it all. the employees are so helpful. I went in one time and was looking got a new pack and I had like three employees helping me find exactly what I needed in my price range. This store has a ton of fun stuff to look at. "Look" is the keyword here; unless you're packing some significant cash, a little bit of research and legwork will get you better deals elsewhere on most of the items in the store, especially the camping gear. That aside, if you're looking for some hard-to-find products, like Timbuk 2 bags (which are the same as MSRP from the website), then this is the only store I know of in San Antonio. read more

I have been here twice. One time I purchased stuffed animals for my wife for our wedding anniversary. I purchased a large king penguin and a king penguin with a baby. They have a wide selection of stuffed animals and other cools stuff. Recommended. read more

Great displays and great items available here. I bought a pair of Chaco's and while my size wasn't available in the store, they offered to order them for me. They said it would take about a week for them to come to the store for pick-up. It only took about two days before the employees called and said the shoes had been delivered and were available. Now we talk about oil companies having to pay a windfall tax, so why should whole earth be exempt? Why does organic always translate to higher prices? Whole foods used to be like that but now they have their house brands and it is more affordable. like one of the other reviewers said, "look" is the key word here. one sure can get better deals than here. By the way, I heaved a sigh of relief when I took my three year old there and he did not want anything from here saying he preferred chinese lead paint plastic toys from walmart. just kidding:)- read more

A really great place to check out when you're hanging out in the quarry. Although pricey, it is not unexpected of such a store.
