I was craving some bbq. I've been wanting to try whuttles for a long time. Located inside the Walmart. South entrance. Walk up counter. Order your food and pick up at counter. I went with the brisket sandwich 12$ and I added two sides one was potato salad and the other was bbq baked beans. 4$ each. I always like testing out the sides of any new bbq place I go to. Along with sauces if they have them. So let's get right to it. For 12$ just for the sandwich I think that's a little steep. At least for what you get. The brisket seemed old and dry. Like they reheated it. Wasn't tender pull apart juicy like I like it. Also pretty thinly cut rather than the pencil thickness I prefer. Didn't come with a lot of sauce either. So I had to ask for some just to safe the sandwich. Also it came out fairly cold along with the beans. The two sides were pretty good I suppose. But they should offer a side with a sandwich for the quality or quantity you get. The sides were not big either for 4$ a piece. So for 20 $ for my meal along with my 4 $ fruit punch. Which was ok. I'm gonna say I was not happy with it. I really wanted to give this place good reviews. But for my taste it did not pass. I'll definitely try it one more time atleast. I also ordered some rib tips to go for my mom as she loves rib tips. I had just tried one. The piece I had was Smokey and saucy but dry unfortunately. Not tender. Hopefully my next visit I can edit this post a bit and be more in the positive side. But right now this is just my honest taste buds speaking. Go check them out for yourselves

Food was out of this world. If you know anything about Louisiana, Gumbo is their milk, it's very good here. I love it. I'll be back for sure.

It was the perfect spot for a casual evening out. We had a couple of drinks, a cider and a Japanese lager, and really enjoyed the atmosphere. The musician playing that night was fantastic! He had a great song selection, and his voice was hauntingly beautiful. I'm not a huge barbecue person because I prefer my meals to have a little more variety than just meat, but I did enjoy the brisket and the pork belly. The sides were just okay for me. I'm from the South, where we take our potato salad seriously, so I wasn't the biggest fan of theirs but I did really enjoy the beans and the corn salad. I'll definitely be back for the music, a drink, and the laid-back atmosphere. It's a great place for a casual evening out!

Ordered the pulled pork sandwich which had a 60/40 meat to fat ratio and bun was quite soggy. Corn was not a Mexican street corn but good. Beans were actually the best. Finally, today was the day. We arrived at around 2:15 and ordered up brisket with beans, a three meat combo plate, and an order of nachos. While we were waiting, we began chatting with the owner of the Oregon Crepe Company, who was just dropping off the buns for service (love that this business is keeping it local). This gentleman was extremely pleasant and he and the owner of Chad's BBQ gave us a complimentary pretzel bun, which was generous and tasty. Salem Ale House was comfortable and we enjoyed a lovely beer. The brisket and the three meat plate were good - the sausage was the best part of the meal - very moist and flavorful with a casing that had a crisp snap. The brisket was nicely seasoned and tender, but not fall apart tender - we still had to use a knife to cut it. Pork was a bit dry (seemed to be very lean). The beans were smoky and tangy. Portions were generous. The meal went wrong with the nachos. The chips were stale and tasted like rancid oil. Despite the cheese sauce (we thought the portion was a bit stingy) and other various toppings, the rancidity of the chips just dominated each bite. We ended up picking off the pork and tossing the chips. We probably should have mentioned this to the owner but there was a bit of a line when we left and it is always easier to avoid complaining. UPDATE: The owner contacted me, apologized, and advised they noticed a bit too late that the chips were rancid. He has offered to make it right on my next visit and I appreciate this gesture tremendously

A Cubano traditionally is pork loin cooked into submission, ham Swiss cheese mustard and pickle grilled on a plancha. I dont do pickles so I ordered mine without. What i got was a grilled cheese with pulled pork bacon and smothered in pickles and onions. This was not even close to a Cubano and should not have been billed as one! I would also like to point out that those were pickled cucumber slices not actual pickles. Since I was at a function and the line for the food truck was exceptionally long. I just brought the sandwich home. I will also say the Mac and cheese was not terrible although I would rethink the pasta that is being used. It was large a overcooked. So with all that said there was some good flavor. The wait was too long for a bad sandwich made wrong. I would not purposely look for this truck .
