Place used to be better-run. Good chicken, but they're kinda weird here. They are very stingy with their napkins, and the staff is not very kind when you ask for more napkins for your messy wings. Annoying. Better places around for sure. Response to owners comment below: "Environmentally conscious"? I've never been to a restaurant where the staff refuses me to give more than one napkin at a time; so all the other places must all be inferior. I saw some pictures of this place and it seemed like a decent spot to get some wings but it didn't really fly for me. I came with some coworkers during lunch to try it out and the service was pretty lacking. For one thing when we ordered we asked for the family combo they had on the menu, and looked at us like we were crazy. They said we can't do that combo for you here and we all pointed at the menu behind them and said the exact words for the combo. Maybe it was some miscommunication but it definitely took way too long to order due to the many misunderstandings. They simply seemed like they didn't know what the items on their menu was. I could forgive the service if the food brings me back. Everyone has an off day after all, but as far as food goes it wasn't too great either. It wasn't terrible and I would still eat it but I was definitely starving at that point and didn't really care. I wanted to believe that the wings here were competitive to other places I've visited. Unfortunately today I found out they are lacking by a lot. First the prices are not too good, it's on the Expessive side. The wings lack flavor, the sauce isnt memorable at all (they also barely put any sauce on the wings). I purchased 5 traditional sauce wings, an order of fries and a pitcher of 805 beer. The total was $43.32. This is Expessive. Specially $28 for the pitcher of 805. Needless to say, I think this place has a long long way to go to compete with places like Buffalo Wild Wings or smokeaters. The friealso were not that good. They were kind of stale. My girlfriend and I have been frequenting wicked chicken for some time. We always enjoyed their burgers as they were very savory. We haven't been in over a month or so but last night we went and noticed they changed their menu. The amount of choices definitely has been removed and the quality of the burgers (taste, options, etc) were not the same. Honestly really disappointed with the new menu change. I'm pretty sure no one would've complained about the previous menu. Also, it's odd that you can't substitute fries for tator tots when ordering a sandwich or burger. We ordered their chicken Caesar salad and parm chicken tenders. Both were tasteless and we had to use the entire salad dressing to add flavor to the meal. The tenders had a soggy batter coating, salty and no parm cheese could be tasted. I won't be going back there again when I'm in town. read more

Do yourself a favor- head to the Taco Bell next door!!! Food is 10x better and way cheaper, AND you won't have to deal with the childish, ridiculous and incompetent staff. Not sure about the pointless buzzer system, because I sat and starred at my food getting cold for about 5 minutes without it going off. The lazy ass cook stood there and watched me contemplate grabbing it myself as he shoveled food into his own fat face. When I went to grab our food, the waitress loudly asked him if was sitting there for a while, to which he replied, "Yea." As we sat and ate our food, I couldn't help but watch the moronic duo dick around and cursing in front of families. I bet the boss would LOVE to see that. The waitress chick was mad-dogging me, and I didn't want to punch her in the head, so I couldn't be bothered asking for napkins, so I got toilet paper from the bathroom instead. I have been to this place a few times for takeout, this is the first time for eating in the restaurant. The staff was friendly, the restaurant was clean (this is a biggie for me), and the best part was the entire room was surrounded in tv's. We decided to go here after our first plans to go to New Jersey's fell through and crashed. Staff is friendly, and we were able to watch the nfl playoff game on multiple tv's. No matter what way you sat, you faced a half dozen or more tv's. I suggest you get the sauce on the side when ordering wings, as they are drenched unless that's your thing. Unlimited fountain drinks you fill yourself. The wings are on the pricey side, 10 wings for around $15 I think? The wings are pretty big, so it worked out fine for 2 of us. I recommend the sauce on the side because all the sauces tend to be very sweet for us. We also ordered the Tater Tots...crispy and not greasy at all. I would give this 5 stars, but I ordered mild. They made a spicier variety and when I asked, "is this mild" he said no and offered to fix it. He turned to the girl that took our order and said, "they ordered mild". She said "no she didn't, she ordered the spicy". Now I can fully understand this conversation taking place in the back, but 2 feet from me is just plain rude. How much do I love Wicked Chicken? Enough to make it my 100th Yelp Review, that's how much! Enough that when I was laying in my hospital bed a week ago, waiting to go up for surgery, all I could think of was, "I wonder if I can have Wicked Chicken later?" Now don't ask me about their chicken wings, because I don't care for chicken wings. As far as hot sauce is concerned, nooo thank you. What I am a huge fan of is their Chicken Tenders. We're not talking teeny tiny Chicken McNugget crap. We're talking at least a 1/4 of a chicken breast each. Minimum. You may look at the board and think, "Three tenders or five?" Go with three. I can barely eat two. They're deep fried. Not greasy. Sauces include teriyaki, honey mustard (it's not on the board but they have it), ranch and BBQ. And to go with your tenders you must try the fries. I didn't expect them to be half as good as they were. They're very similar to Five Guys fries. Num. I've only ever ordered delivery, but the food is always great. I've tried almost every sauce and they're all very unique and flavorful, along with some heat if you want it. If I could, I'd give his place ZERO stars! I came here last week with some friends on our lunch break. After ordering, the cashier mentions that their system is down and cannot accept debit cards (should've said something about that before I ordered, -1). I didn't have much cash on me so now I'm forced to use their ATM machine. If you know about ATM machines, you know that there is a fee, not only from your bank, but from the machine itself (such an inconvenience, -1). I asked the cashier if he would reimburse me for the fees, since I am forced to take cash out, and their machine is down. He said no (what kind of customer service is that? -1). I asked if there's anything else he could do to compensate for having their machines down. He said no. DANG! Can a girl get at least a 10% discount? Nope! I was lucky enough to have one of my friends spot me on some cash, but the fact of the matter is, this place has horrible customer service. Oh, and food isn't that great either. This totally reminds me of Smoke Eaters, and yes, I know Smoke Eaters used to vacate this location prior to Wicked Chicken. So although, from the menu to the sauces all being so much alike, the cashier claims they are not the same business. We came here on a Friday night and the place was EMPTY except for a few people at their "bar" but they left not long after we got there. I went with the 10 piece wings because the cashier said they were on the small side. They came out pretty decently sized to me! We ended up taking 3 of them home along with the seasoned curly fries and the regular fries that came with the burger. Ok, so I rarely ever write bad reviews... but this really, really deserves a review-- So, first, my friends and I wanted to order a to-go... We go online to try to find the number to call. Is it on their website? no. is it on yelp? no. on google? no. I had to dig around, and I finally found it on yellow pages.com. So i called them, made the order, told the manager that their number was hard to find, and that their website might need some reorganizing b/c all their links were overlapping each other, so when you pressed on "contact" you would get sent to the menu. Anyways... go to pick up my order, and i double checked the order to make sure it was correct... I orderd a large fries, extra crispy... they gave me small fries that were extra soggy... I ordered 10 wings with the traditional sauce on the side, and they gave me the wings tossed, so by the time we got home.. also soggy. I ordered a salad with honey mustard... They forgot to include the money mustard. and then, to top it all off, they didn't believe me when I said that there was no celery placed with the wings, and the guy behind the counter had to look at it himself. AND, we got attitude when I asked to switch out a ranch sauce for a traditional. I know this place is new... but commmon guys, get you shit together. Being stoned and working in a restaurant is not that hard, I did it for 2 years. I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt because it is a new establishment... so next time I go there, I will write a review. but I guess the lesson is... check your order (especially if it is TOGO). and Wicked Chicken management... if you're reading this.. work on customer service. please. Order burgers and realize they come with more fries. Order a gallon of beer. Drink gallon while watching any of the 10 TVs and nomming all of the fries. Decide that we need chicken strips. Order the chicken strips and realize it's a bad idea after all those fries. Eat them anyway. Ponder whether to get a second gallon. Smartly decide against it and go next door to Safeway and buy It's-Its. It's pretty chill. I'd recommend it. read more

Wicked Chicken, Smoke Eaters, Cluck U, University Chicken, who cares? Nothing has changed. All I care about is that they have my wings smothered in Global Thermal Nuclear winger sauce. I've been coming to this location with my wife (g/f back then) since the late 90's when it was Cluck-U. It changed names many times but the quality of the food and their offerings hasn't changed for us. That's why we keep coming back. Wing Stop and Buffalo Wild Wings... not contest. I see people rave about these other places, but that's only because they haven't tried this place out. What I usually get is the wings and fries. I used to get the buffalo burger along with it, but I could never finish my order, so I just stick with the bread and butter... the wings. My wife also gets wings but with a less spicy winger sauce. The wings are thick and they are not stingy on the sauce. The order comes with enough ranch sauce and celery sticks (that I just end up dipping in the sauce). The staff is very nice. One time, we came here twice within 3 weeks and the guy remembered us. That's pretty rare. Since I ordered for a family of five, he suggested what we should order to get the most bang for our buck. All in all, we will be coming back to this place whenever we're in the are for their delicious wings. And "no," we don't go to the other places to get our wing fix as long as this place exists. read more

Flavorless bland fried food. I ordered chicken tenders cause its a chicken place and there was no seasoning and the chicken was incredibly dry. The gap between the chicken tender and the fried breading was alarming and gross. French fries were even lacking charm. Honey mustard was soupy and watered down. I sent my food back and reordered a cheeseburger which seemed pretty fool proof. Wrong again. The beef patty was over done and dry and lacked flavor and seasoning all around. It was probably a frozen patty. The cheese was not melted on the patty and was hard and discolored. I've been eating at this place for a decade, through several name changes (Cluck U, Smoke Eaters, etc). And the time has come to call it like it is. The only reasons to eat here are the sauces. They have a variety of them, from mild to I think my tongue just melted off. I absolutely love the atomic and nuclear, they're close to each other, very spicy but also a bit sweet. Totally fantastic. What isn't fantastic, is the chicken they put it on. The breading is truly terrible. It's overly crunchy and thick, you take a bite and the texture varies from soggy to gritty. It's NOT good. And they don't offer the option of no breading, for reasons I can't figure out. What about the chicken, you say? Well, sometimes it's decent, but I guarantee if you eat three pieces, at least one of them will have weird unchewable bits and stringy things you don't want to see on your chicken strips. Makes me think that they buy in bulk, and skimp on quality. Side dishes? I got the fries, they were soggy and short on flavor. You can douse them in sauce, which helps, but they're still pathetic and limp. They used to have black beans and rice, it was pretty good. Now it's gone. The mashed potatoes are utterly generic. For a very long time I continued to eat here, just out of habit and love for the sauce, but recently after yet another luckluster meal, I called it quits. I'd still buy jars of the sauce if they sold it, but of course they don't, probably because they know no one would ever come back at that point. Maybe someday they'll start caring about quality. I love chicken wings: spicy, tangy, sweet, sour, whatever...I love it. I eat buffalo wings everywhere I travel, and I travel alot. I've been to the original Anchor Bar in Buffalo, and the original Buffalo Wild Wings in Ohio. Both awesome. So naturally, when I started working near Santa Clara Univ, in 2006, I became a regular at University Chicken. I loved it. I actually still liked after it changed to Smoke Eaters. The 5-piece chicken wings i had at Wicked Chicken last Wednesday was the worst wings I've ever tried. Obviously made from frozen chicken wings since it was served cold.
