FINALLY!!!!! A good poke place in north county! My husband and I have tried poke place after poke place with no luck. We decided to give this place a try after shopping next door. Honestly we went in with low expectations and boy were we blown away!!!! First of all it is amazingly priced for the portion that you receive! This is the first time I've been to this location (and also the last I might add..). The other Oceanside location is always amazing both food-wise as well as customer service .. That's NOT the case here ... the guy or rather kid that "served" me was one of this types where it's not what he says necessarily but the sarcasm and attitude with which he says it. I noticed right off the bat that the avocado was browning and just didn't look fresh. It was also getting towards the bottom of the container but not quite there yet . I asked if there was any way to get some fresh avocados that wasn't brown . I didn't feel this was an unreasonable request .. I'm well aware that for a short time , browning on avocado is merely cosmetic and if you scrape off the top layer, it's green. But that doesn't stay that way forever ... it will end up tasting old too after a time .. and that's what it was starting to look like to me . In my opinion I doesn't really matter if that would end up to be true or not . The fact is , it did not look appetizing and that should be enough reason to accommodate the request . He replied with a super sarcastic tone that if he "scrapes off the top, it will be green again". Sounds YUM, right!? .. .. so after he makes the bowl, he asks what else I want and here we go back with the avocado again and I say that I would like some of it stilland if there really isn't Any new avocado available , that I'd take what was there but was hesitant about it. And again in total sarcastic tone , says "I'll make it as green as I can".(which he thinks he accomplishes by rolling the scooper over onto itself over a big layer of brown to reveal the semi green but slimy looking underside before plopping it into the bowl). Then he says (w/ the sarcasm), "is that green enough for you"? By this time , I basically want to punch him. I'm super annoyed but I just sort of give him this half chuckle of sorts just because I'm kind of in disbelief at What a little punk he's being .. sorry but that's the most accurate word I could come up with to describe him. So after I pay for the food, I ask him this question , I guess because I'm trying to find some explanation for his crappy service so I don't have to just settle for the fact that he's just a jerk. No such luck... I asked him if they were out of avocado and perhaps that was why he was unwilling to get more . He says (again with the sarcasm practically dripping from his lips) "that's all we have out front" TRANSLATION: " We have PLENTY of it in the back but Im too lazy and/or couldn't give two f@&ks about getting it for you and would just like you to get out of this store as quickly as possible so I don't have to deal with you " . I'd bet you a hundred bucks if you asked him himself if I got this "translation" correct , he'd agree.. Bottom line ... it was NOT about the f$&kin avocado! The only reason I kept on about it was solely because of the sh$&ty attitude I was being given thinly veiled under the "pseudo polite" words he was saying.. which is actually far more irritating than if he just told me to f$&k off honestly (which I'm sure he did the moment I turned my back and walked out .. which is fine since I did the exact same ).. "Peyton", your customer service is truly appalling. I'd never hire you to represent any sort of business. Btw, I don't leave all that many reviews .. over the years, I've left maybe 9-10 in my whole life . So for me to take the time out of my busy day to do that when I could be doing a lot of other things , means you either totally made my day or you really pissed me off .. I'll let you take your pick .. If I were the owner of this place, I'd absolutely fire this kid. Again, not because of an avocado but because it's telling of his complete lack of giving a sh$&. The so cal surfer good looks only go so far.. The sh&@ty attitude is so off-putting.. interestingly , about the only thing he said that didn't have a tone of sarcasm , was when he told me his name when I left after I asked . I found this funny for whatever reason. I'll never be back... I'm sure much to Peyton's relief .. P.s. the avocado tasted like sh$& and the fish was nowhere near as fresh as the other location on Oceanside blvd. I didn't get any cucumber because it was soggy , yellowed, and far from fresh. I'm actually amazed at the positive reviews this place has . It really just appears this place does not care UPDATE: Just saw my emailed receipt and on top of everything else , I was charged for TWO bowls totaling $25 ! Which was rung in as a CASH transaction when it was actually a cc card! That is shady AF! I'm livid! I need the owner to contact me immediately to rectify! read more

I was in the Oceanside area and decided to check out a new poke place. It was my first time trying out Wicked Poke and as soon as I walked in, I was impressed by their clean interior and organized setup. The condiments and proteins were all labeled and easy to find. The workers were extremely welcoming and friendly as well. They were very accommodating. I also noticed the owner walking around and making sure their customers were all enjoying their food. It seems like they really care about their customers' experiences and want them to really enjoy their food. Prices were very reasonable too. Ingredients were all fresh and well-prepared. I got a regular bowl with half white rice and salad, with 2 scoops of shrimp and 1 scoop of salmon with tofu. (FYI: Some places include tofu as a protein, but Wicked Poke allows you to get three proteins + tofu for a regular bowl.) It was actually a bigger serving than I expected it to be and bigger than other places. Their sweet miso sauce is amazing! What I liked is that they didn't just drench all the proteins with the sauces like most places, but they asked if I wanted their house sauce and sesame oil and also just drizzled the sweet miso sauce on top. When I went today, they were also giving free miso soup with each meal. The owner told me that they will be giving free miso soup for a while! So come and get it while it lasts~ They have Stubborn Soda, which is new for me. But I have to say, the draft kola was really good. It didn't taste too sugary and artificial. It's not the norm, but it's unique and different, which was interesting to see and taste. Overall, it was an awesome experience! Great quality of food and customer service. There's definitely room to grow for Wicked Poke. I can see why others might rate them 4-5 stars if they haven't visited other poke places, but I after having visited over 10 of them, there's not much that sets them apart. Wicked poke's workers can benefit from not being so stingy with the servings of protein. Where other poke joints will have heaping scoops, the workers on Halloween night literally scraped the fish along the bin to level off the scoops (damaging and squishing the fish in the process). I also didn't like how seaweed salad was an extra 2.00... That is almost always a free topping at other poke places and I was disappointed t see such a high markup for it. What should have been a quick one minute process to build our bowls, my boyfriend and I spent way too long at the counter since the workers tried to educate me on what was "traditional" poke. I had already shared that I am no stranger to poke and my boyfriend had grown up in Hawaii eating it day in and day out and was not happy that I was being treated like I had never had it before. I did really enjoy the sweet miso sauce and the mango topping. Definitely a must try if you decide to see what wicked poke has to offer. Anyone who has worked in the food service industry knows about those people who alter and customize their meals down to the smallest things- well that's how I am. And this place handled it perfectly. We were able to make substitutions as necessary since I am not a big meat/ fish eater and don't use the entire protein amount in the bowls. They customized my bowl without hesitation and the manager helped with any confusion. Great customer service and amazing food. Wicked poke happens to be the closest poke place to me and I couldn't be happier. After trying many other poke places this one continues to stand out to me. The price is hands down the best part. It's 8.99 for three scoops and 10.99 for five scoops! Many other places are much more expensive but you get less fish. Usually with a lower price the quality might not be up to par, but the quality is always very fresh. I never have had any issue with the fish tasting to "fishy" or "looking old". The vegetables always seem to be fresh and not reused from the day before (no brown avocado!). I think the hardest part for people is not having eel sauce as an option but after experimenting I found out I truly don't need it to enjoy my poke bowl. I recommend a blend of the sweet miso and sweet/spicy sauces. I am also a huge fan of their reward system. It's nice to be rewarded for being a customer. I have yet to see another poke restaurant have a system that is similar. Overall...very affordable, friendly customer service, and great quality! I will be coming regularly unless something changes. *Update* Was not happy with quality of ingredients today. Brown avocado, not the best ahi tuna, cucumbers were off, way too much sauce poured on my bowl. Only ate half. Very disappointed. Hoping it's a one time thing. read more

This place is actually pretty good and was one of my favorite poke places. The only issue I have is with the portion sizes of the food. You used to get 3 scoops with a regular bowl and 5 scoops with a large but now they changed it to only 2 scoops for regular and 3 for large. Like what? Excuse me? I just paid right under $20 for a large bowl with only 3 scoops of salmon. I feel like I just got scammed. If you need a larger portion...you should probably be on a diet. Just being real. The portions here are plentiful, my husband and I are always stuffed. The fish quality is amazing. The sauce options are of wide variety and all are super delicious. The toppings are YUM--ie: tempura and crunchy onions. I'm drooling. And to top it all off, the service is efficient and everyone is super friendly! You pay for quality of fish here and it's definitely worth it. This is my favorite poke place and still is! Although today I had the owner make my bowl for the first time and I must say I was dissatisfied. I've always been given extra cucumber and pineapple without an issue by other employees but today he refused my request and said that's the max he can give me (just one scoop!). You'd think that when spending $17 on a poke bowl, it wouldn't be an issue to request a bit extra of something so cheap like cucumber. I made my order through DoorDash and when my bowl arrived it was nothing but disappoint. My bowl was mostly rice! There was hardly any protein or toppings. I got four tiny pieces of shrimp and four small pieces of salmon. I barely saw a whole scoop of avocado that I paid extra for. This bowl was not worth $15.99. This was the biggest rip off. Out of all the the local spots that serve poki bowls, this is probably at the bottom of the list. The seafood wasn't as fresh as the others. Wicked Poke is my go-to spot in North County for poke. There is a place much closer to my house but I choose to make the extra 10-15 minute drive here because they're that good. It's located between the Toys R Us and LA Fitness, so parking is not hard to find. You can customize your poke bowl however you like - I normally get a scoop of salmon, a scoop of tuna, and a scoop of spicy tuna with a free scoop of crab salad. Avocado is only 50 cents extra, most other places charge a dollar. With a large, you get an additional 2 scoops of protein/fish (5 scoops total), but I find that the regular is already very filling because of the large portions they give you. The regular also comes with two scoops of rice (white or brown, or a salad), and it is cold! I really dislike poke with hot/warm rice, so this was a great plus for me. The quality of the fish is fantastic and fresh. Doesn't leave a weird fishy aftertaste like other places I've dined at. You can also mix the sauces however you like - I like the mild house sauce mixed with sesame oil, and sweet miso drizzled on top. The staff is very nice and will make recommendations if you ask for it. Even when they are busy, you don't feel rushed because they are always fully staffed. I went there today for lunch and there were four people working behind the counter. Even during a lunch rush, I was in and out of there pretty quickly. Make sure to sign up for their Five Stars reward program. Each dollar you spend earns you points towards redeeming free drinks, upgrades, and free poke bowls! read more

First time here on a Monday afternoon, me and my sister decided to try here. Simple,.well laid out menu. There were 3 people behind the counter which was great, friendly and fast service. But sadly the food itself was just okay. We got the large, two scoops of rice and some protein. The scoop of the protein is small so no matter how many types of proteins you get its only a small amount. The toppings are also counted, if you get more than a certain amount then you pay for the add ons, which I don't think is worth it. I love this poke place, I come here occasionally when I have to make a stop at Daiso. For under $10, I get pretty fresh salmon and tuna. They're very generous with their rice scoops and I always love getting an additional miso soup (it comes in a little cup! :)) The inside has a couple of tables and there is outdoor seating. During some times it's not that busy, and they're quite fast. You can just grab n go, or just chill out outside. Overall, love this place, and hope to see it thrive more. :) read more
