No one was there but the owner picked up the phone and was able to arrange a great table for us right in the bar area! Walking in I was immersed in the moody and dark space, brightened by pops of red and other Asian accents. The bar is beautiful and the bartender was hard at work cranking out cocktails. Lindsay was our server, and she was an absolute breath of fresh air, clearly passionate about her role in providing the guest experience, and frankly, she made all the difference in our experience. It all started when she saw our boys sitting at the low two top and offered them a private dining experience right next to us! They downed so much sushi, I nearly had to take out a second mortgage, but I'd happily pay it over and over to see the looks on their faces at 5 and 8 again! To say that a core memory was made that night is a massive understatement, as we have not stopped hearing about this since we returned and my son even made my mother walk him back to the restaurant the next day just to see if he could say hi! She took incredible care of the grown ups too. Helped with menu selections, addressed all requests swiftly and handled any issues with actual regard for the feedback being provided, which is becoming more and more rare in today's industry. On the food, we ordered most the apps including wings, green beans, cucumbers, shrimp, and spring rolls, and then we added the crab noodles, yellow curry and a few sushi rolls. The cucumbers and green beans stole the show, with the shrimp and crab noodles not too far behind. The sushi was decent, but I found the rice a bit gummy and didn't really get a sense of each element within them. The wings and curry were a bit bland for my liking but the wings benefitted by the additional sauce with them. The curry needed a bit more heat, fish sauce, and maybe a hit of vinegar. As someone who LOVES Asian food, this satisfied the itch after mainly eating American food for so many days, but I'd realistically rate it a 3.5 stars, especially considering the price and value. I'd happily return on my next visit to Saugatuck and suggest it to friends too. Keep crushing the service game!

The wings were huge and kind of gamey, and the skin was not crispy so they were not my favorite to eat. The fries were tasty but nothing special. I will give 5 stars for the beer! I had the lake noir, which was a blueberry/blackberry beer and the other fruit beer which was watermelon flavored. They were both fruity and refreshing and I really enjoyed them. I would come back for the pizza, which seemed a bit pricey but looked delicious.

The meat was chewy/tough, the sauce tasted like nothing, and the fries tasted like they came straight out of the freezer section of Walmart (freezer taste included). Wedges or fingerlings would have been a far better pairing in our opinion. Both of our plates were left barely half finished and it turned into a date of being food critics lol. A positive was they did make a decent old fashioned (was more of a double), and their French 75 was fabulous. Overall, it was a joke. We love interesting new places with unique menu options. We chose this place for that reason. Unfortunately we felt it was a case of "quantity over quality". These dishes had so much potential, but it was by far our worst food experience of our trip.

I do not believe they serve food here but did see bartenders making microwavable popcorn on request to several patrons. So this place is designed with a three-room set-up. You walk in and it's a square carpeted room that can be used for live music. Then you reach the bar area, then there are pool tables. There seemed to be an area behind the pool tables but I was too afraid to go back there. Now in terms of bar design, I would have led with the bar but that's just me and I'm sure the architects (possibly Mike Brady from "The Brady Bunch") knew what they were doing. I tend to trust professionals, apart from what our public health "experts" did to us during the forementioned COVID. This bar is cash only. That's probably in other reviews. Also, if you have AT&T cell service, good luck. There's no service so you can't look up scores and check Instagram. And now you're thinking, "what about the wifi?" C'mon bro, be serious. I love this bar. They have four different TVs in the main bar area that range from 19 to 45 inches. All are on different setups. Antenna, YouTubeTV, etc. The staff is fantastic. Patrick and Katie were my two favorites. Entertaining and straight out of bartending central casting. I was just drinking beers so I can't comment on what like a cocktail or normal-person drink tastes like. Clientele ranges from bachelorette parties to people who have seen some shit. It's a dive bar that never had to try to be a dive bar. You'll read other reviews on this place and they are super granular or longwinded or whatever. Don't pay attention to those bozos. This place is strictly vibes. Did I mention the dropped ceilings have art paintings on them? One even has a Pontiac painted on it. Hell yeah, Michigan. Haven't seen a Pontiac since cars still had cassette tape players in them. I would live there if I could. And I'm a proud Ohioan.

It would be nice if the sign had been a little more visible or if we had been redirected more kindly. We were sat immediately and even though I tend to hate high tops, the chairs were sturdy and comfortable. Between myself and my friends we ordered the grilled ham and cheese, the nutty salad, and the burger (with cheddar, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, mayo, ketchup, and mustard). We all loved our food and it came out quickly. I ordered my burger medium-well and it was cooked perfectly. Our server was attentive and made sure to refill our water frequently. At the end of our meal they gave us little cups of animal crackers, which was just the cutest touch! Overall loved and would totally return and recommend.

I am the President/CEO of Travel Leaders travel agency in Holland, MI with nearly 100 employees. My wife and I eat our six out of seven nights of the week year round. It's a Monday night in July and we decide to try something new that we have not been to before (we visit many different Saugatuck restaurants every week) so we went to Wild Dog Grille. We walked into the restaurant, there was NOBODY inside but outside on the patio there were about six or seven tables occupied and we asked for a table for two outside. The hostess politely told us it would be only a five minute wait so we sat down at the 30 seat bar where there was not one stool occupied. We waited for several minutes and while my wife went to the restroom, two men walked in and said to a different person that they were there for two for dinner. This woman in a less than appropriate baseball cap immediately took them outside and grabbed some menus and sat them outside. My wife came back from the restroom and I said we won't be staying here because this staff has no idea what they are doing and this woman in some kind of baseball cap gave our table away. The hostess then comes up and said your table is ready and I said what about the table out front you said we were going to get and she said well there was a mix up and we gave your table away to someone what just walked in the door but we still have a table for you in the back of the alley. I said that's not acceptable and she said, well I'm done hosting anyway so sorry about that but whatever. The bartender in the meantime who looked like a pit-bull on medication said "oh well, we will have a great business night anyway so whatever"....we then asked who the owner was and believe it or not she told us is was the woman in the crazy baseball hat that we originally inquired about who did absolutely nothing about our situation. We of course left and paid for our one drink and will never be back and told the bartender we were headed back to Saugatuck to Wally's and low and behold we got there and it was standing room only....on a Monday night...and there were only ten people at Wild Dog Grille. Don't waste your time here, it's a joke and the service was not only bad, it was worse than McDonalds and I think McDonald's gives great service. Stay away from this restaurant at all costs...I have over a hundred employees in my business in Holland for over 23 years and if I ran my business like the lady in the baseball hat did, I wouldn't' have a business...and I seriously doubt, she will much longer either. Go to the MANY great restaurants in Saugatuck...you won't be disappointed as you will going here! P.S. This is not a cheap restaurant...my wife came back from the restroom and said that there was no toilet paper in the restroom stalls....really?? The restaurant has a contemporary approach including preserved and mounted animal heads and sleek ebony colored furniture. This might sound like a übercool eatery but the restaurant comes with a laidback vibe that makes it cozy and casual instead. We tried the Wild Dog Burger and BBQ Chicken Pizza and were pleasantly surprised how tasteful both were. Besides the Wild Dog Grille serves dishes such as grilled fish, beef skewers, baby ribs and daily specials with a modern American twist. Love the patio at this place it's so cute & comfy when the weather is nice. I like the creative comfort food they have available but sometimes the descriptions don't match what is served, but it's tasty. The servers are way nicer than the bartenders. Every time I've been there the bartenders never smile or greet us. They just seem angry. Go in the late Spring or early Fall and enjoy pizza on the patio! read more

Been there, done that. Nothing special. Those who eat here may want to be aware that the management fired a waitress due to her being in the hospital with a double concussion. She had the proper documentation and everything required by the restaurant. Don't waste your money at a restaurant who treats their employees so unethically. read more

Now I could be wrong here, but the fried green tomatoes seemed like a frozen product. with a uniform breading and cook, but the chicken fingers definitely were and the mac n cheese was quite literally Kraft. I'm going to hope that this is a hot dinner or brunch spot, because what we had was pretty disappointing. I was torn between here and the spot around the corner that featured a lot of local ingredients in a more casual setting, but chose this because it seemed to be more culinarily focused, and I was let down.

Overall, this dish was sadly disappointing since we were looking forward to something savory and herby but got what felt like a sugar bomb for chicken. The salad was good and loaded with toppings, however, I felt like there was way too much dressing that drowned the salad once it was all mixed. If possible, I would get the dressing on the side. All in all, great ambiance, good service and a wonderful location. Perhaps I just ordered the wrong things. Still worth checking out, if you're in the area!

When we were seated, the bartenders were pleasant and helpful. The service was quick. We ordered the aged cheddar pierogis for the appetizer which was a good start for two people. They were fried so you are staying clear of fried foods--I would skip this dish (it wasn't listed as fried). The cocktails and food was amazing. My husband liked that the special salad brought together a bunch of different flavors into a sweet/tangy delight! For our main entrees, both my husband and I were eying the Three Little Pigs pizza. Have we REALLY been going to Spec's for two decades? Wowee. We enjoyed the saucy and crunchy wings the most. Our only recommendation would be to offer a more traditional (sliced) steak sandwich that comes out ready to eat. Pre-slicing and cooking the steak will also help balance out the sandwich and cook the steak more thoroughly.
