For our last meal in town on a Saturday morning, we made it to Wild Eggs just in time to skip the wait. Dare I say it feels like a trendier, local chain version of IHOP? I don't mean that to sound negative - we enjoyed our meal here and I thought the restaurant was super cute. We deliberated much too long, but with the help of our waitress ordered exactly the right amount of food to fuel our last adventure in Louisville. We each ordered half portions of the BYO omelette with toast and my friend got a half order of biscuits and gravy (with both gravies) as well. I wish I had gotten something to top my omelette, like hollandaise or more cheese but it was still a solid omelette. For drinks, we went bougie brunch mode and ordered the blood orange mimosa and bluegrass sunrise. She got kinda a remixed version of her bluegrass sunrise because they ran out of juice, but said it was surprisingly tasty nonetheless. All in all, a nice little breakfast spot. Good food and drinks. Good service. Cute decor and cool location. I wouldn't mind returning when I'm back in Louisville. read more

I want to start this review by saying I love this place. I have a list of restaurants that I ALWAYS visit when I take my annual Mardi Gras trip, and this has always been one of them. The food is amazing, and I applaud and revisit the ones who make sure those of us who can't eat gluten get to enjoy things we usually can't get just anywhere. On this particular visit, it was the service that made me dock two whole stars. I was a server for much of my life. That was my first job and the one I held all through my young adult life until I graduated college. I know how it is to have a bad day, so even if the service is mediocre...well, I try not to be too harsh. This was just bad. I know the world has seen a real downswing in customer service in general, but I experienced 95% wonderful, attentive service during the entire two weeks of my vacation. This was my last day. You know how it is; you're a little sad it's over, but you say, "Hey, I have this last lovely breakfast at this place I really love." Back home I love my job, but it is very stressful, and I work long hours, so this trip is my only luxury (aside from my birthday weekend) in the span of a year. I travel alone, by choice, but this has often seemed to cause some servers and even hostesses to see me as a "small check" or maybe even assume I'm a small tipper--I was a waitress, so I'm an excellent tipper...when the service is good. I believe this is what happened in this case. I felt treated as an afterthought. I was excited to make it to the restaurant after a few hours' drive. I always order a mimosa with breakfast during vacation, and I don't mind paying more for a good breakfast. I ordered coffee and the Mad Platter with a gluten-free pancake on the side, a treat I only allow myself to have on vaca. The restaurant was busy but, as you can see in the pictures, it wasn't full, and there were several servers. Mine was Rachel. I started to get that afterthought feeling when it took a really long time for her to come back and take my food order after taking my drink order. I had a six-seven hour drive ahead, and it got to be so long that I was starting to not enjoy going out for breakfast anymore. The kicker was the coffee. I had to ask three times for my coffee and when it finally came, after the food was delivered, the pot dispenser was broken so that it poured out in little drips. There wasn't enough cream after I finally got enough coffee poured into the cup, but by the time she finally came back to check on me, I was over the coffee and that last little treat of the vacation's final breakfast had turned into just wanting to get the check and leave. She did make that last little attempt when she had to bring the card machine to tell me to have a safe drive and try to be friendly. She got a much smaller tip than the ones I usually leave. And I will add that this isn't because she was run crazy busy. Was she busy? Yes. But when I was looking around wondering where my coffee was and why she hadn't come back to take my order, I saw her on her phone behind the counter talking and laughing with the other servers. How was the food? It was great. The eggs were cooked soft the way I love and the bacon was good. The pancakes are amazing. They have a cake-like texture I haven't had anywhere else that is really delicious. But...when some other random server brought my food, they didn't bring any syrup. I had to flag someone down to get some. At that point, my vacation bubble had burst and m I really felt like the last little piece of it had been stolen from me. I work very hard for the other 50 weeks in the year, so each of these vacation experiences sometimes feel so hard-won. Then, we have to wait a whole year for them to come again. So, I'm just saying that's why this is important. The food here is good enough that I will stop next year again, but the service then will determine if I'm looking for a new breakfast place on my way home for NOLA the year after. I'll say it again. Just because I'm a solo diner, I'm still spending my hard-earned $ in your restaurant. I want to be treated like the tables of two, three or more. I don't want to be stuck at the bar on an uncomfortable stool, fighting for elbow room while I try to eat my meal, and I certainly don't want to be treated like an afterthought. **Update Apr/2023 - Not a single word from the manager or owner on any of the 3 sites I wrote this review. I will NOT be returning to Wild Eggs my next trip...or ever again! read more

I was a bit annoyed by how hard they pushed sitting at their breakfast bar; we asked for a table and she said it would be a short wait. One minute later she took us to our table (there were three more tables sitting empty). It came across to me as a ploy to get us to their breakfast bar. Dock a for starting off this way. The good news is our church waitress, Allie, was so sweet, so patient, so helpful and ranks up there with the best servers I have ever had. Allie earned because she was great! Came in to pick up my food and the app says your order is ready for pickup at 10:54. I am told that my order is waiting to be bagged up. The time as I'm writing this is 11:21 mins you I arrived before my pickup time and came in at the time it said it was ready. I'm NOT happy at all. When I inquire about how much longer it's going to be, I'm told "oh, you're down the list". I've watched multiple orders come in and be taken out the door. This is an amazing breakfast/brunch spot in Louisville , KY! It was conveniently located across the street from our hotel. The first morning, I went and ordered breakfast to go and found this place spotless, and the pale blue and pale yellow colors make it a very bright and calming atmosphere. I ordered the egg white turkey sausage scramble and the "create your own" scramble for my husband. It was delivered up hot and very tasty. A few mornings later, we headed over for a sit-down breakfast. I once again had the egg white and turkey sausage scramble with a warm biscuit with a potato casserole. Found a fabulous breakfast place within walking distance from our hotel. No masks required! Ally, our server, is so kind and helped us through the menu on our first visit. Started off with an iced vanilla latte infused with vodka for me and their famous Bloody Mary for hubby. Both are delicious. We asked for a second skewer because what's served their bloody Mary's are so delicious: one banana pepper, whole; spicy sweet pickle slices; pimento stuffed olives. Interior is bright and cheery and modern. We visited around noon on a Tuesday and waited no longer than five minutes. Service was impeccable and attentive. Even got my own coffee carafe on the table (me: Need a warm up on that coffee, Sugar? Also me: Sure, why not?). Ordered eggs, bacon, sausage, and pancakes. I'm a self-professed pancake junkie. I'm always on the hunt for a place that adds pancakes along with the eggs etc. (or in lieu of toast). Wild Eggs's Mad Platter fit this bill! And the hotcakes tasted malty and fluffy and fresh, as if grandma had folded together the dry ingredients only five minutes prior. We also added a cinnamon roll. And oh. My. God. Make sure you're seated when you taste this cast iron baked confectionery beauty because your knees are gonna buckle and your sweet tooth is going to beg for mercy. It's sooooo good. Prices are higher than a greasy spoon diner, but this ain't a greasy spoon. And the ambience and laid back feel more than offset the "$2 for toast and eggs" rush you get on your way to work. First, if you are visiting the area, know that you can put your name on the list virtually without having to go in person. Had we known that, we would have put our name on the list before walking from our hotel because once we got there, we found out it was going to be an hour wait! I will say, it was worth the hour!! The menu had such an amazing variety and then the seasonal menu made it even more difficulty to make my choice. Our server was working her tail off hustling from table to table. She quickly took our drink order and when she returned with the drinks, offered to answer any questions before taking our brunch order. I felt the time it took for our food to arrive was reasonable based on how busy the dining room was. My Carnitas Benedict was out of this world. My tastebuds were exceptionally giddy at the flavors that were imparted by the chipotle queso and jalapeno infused cornbread. I felt it was perfectly portioned as I left full but not stuffed. Wild Eggs is a fun, diner style brunch spot that can be a scene even on a Wednesday morning. I went at 8:50 am and while there were lots of nope seats it was a bit bottlenecked by the front counter flow. The menu is super fun with all sorts of mashups. I had the creole omelette for $13.99 that came with a muffin and grits as well as black coffee. The food came out fast with the grits being the true star. We set a reservation and got in right away. It's a unique feel inside - part industrial, part diner, but all bright breakfast colors. Still not sure how I feel about the ambiance but I'm not mad at it lol. The food was BEYOND delicious. We got Kelly's quesadilla and the cinnamon roll. Cinnamon roll was huge, rich, and not too sweet (which is easy to do with pastries!). It was filling, but not to the point of feeling gross/over-stuffed. The quesadilla had perfectly matched flavor profiles.
