This recent addition to the Atascadero food, drink, entertainment scene was such a find. Not having been to this area in quite a long time, it was/is such a perfect fit for our eclectic family dynamic of diverse tastes and diets. The brews are exceptional and they offer beer flights if you can't make up your mind. There's a modest arcade that includes a miniature 2 lane (rollerball) bowling alley. Lastly, they have a attentive, engaging staff that made our return visit to this beautiful area, the topic of discussion when we all find ourselves talking over "the good all days"'! Over the past month since Wild Fields opened, they have quickly become one of my favorite spots in Atascadero. They have a great variety for beer, some wine and cider choices, as well as sodas for non drinkers. The food is great and my vegetarian friends love that they have the ability to sub out for a veggie dog. The giant pretzel is delicious and so far my favorite main dish has been the chicken apple dog. The staff and owners have been so kind and welcoming every time I've been in. You can really tell that they care about their business and have put in a lot of effort to make it a family friendly establish with a positive/playful atmosphere and stellar beer. The beertenders are always super patient and knowledgeable about the beer and have always helped me pick out which beers to try next. This place will no doubt because a local favorite. read more

This place was a mess. A lot of the tables where dirty. Kids running around and bumping into you. I ordered the artichoke dip and it was gross. Just cheese and some other funky flavor. I couldn't eat it. The soyrizo hot dog was not good either. My husband's burger was okay. But overall a waste of money and time to come here. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

Stopped in after taking my son and his friend to the movies and had a great time. We played foosball and the boys dumped 10 dollars worth of quarters trying to win a stuffed animal. The brewhouse is nicely laid out inside with a great bar top and beautiful wood touches throughout. I had the german pilsner and blonde ale and both were super refreshing. We had been wanting to try Wild Fields since they opened. I think it's a grand idea to mix a little adult/kid fun. We brought some guests from out of town as well (they are from SF) and they too were not impressed. We tried the beer which was good but the food was subpar and really expensive for what you get. We ordered 3 soft pretzels, sausage platter, Mac n cheese, chili Mac, baked potato, grilled cheese w/ linguica, the bratwurst and Joe's Dog. The best thing we ate was the soft pretzel. If you want to order the cheese sauce for $2, don't. Not worth it. Everything else was meh. If you're feeling Mac n cheese, skip it here. It's pretty bad, especially the chili Mac. All the sausages were overcooked (some burnt) and very dry. We were so hungry so we forced ourselves to finish the food since we had just spent $140 on food. The kids had a good time playing the games though so the experience was fun for them. We had gotten there at 8:30, didn't get our food until about 9 so the kids played games after we ate. At about 9:45, the girl with the long blonde hair at the bar announced that everyone had to leave because they closed at 9:30. The kids were still playing games (Foosball & bowling) but she just stared at us, the adults, basically making us feel uncomfortable for still being there. There were still quite a few other people there and we all got up to leave. Mind you, I get they closed at 9:30. However, I have NEVER been at an establishment where we were asked to leave because they closed 15 mins ago. Never. We had just spent $200 (including games) in a place I was embarrassed to have taken our guests to. I'd like to say we will try again sometime...but not anytime soon! Maybe they'll work out the "kinks" in a few months? I sure hope so, considering we don't want another place shutting down in Atascadero. read more

Came here for lunch today. I didn't read the menu closely and ordered a banh mi which seemed like a safe sandwich option. It also came with a side but for some reason French fries don't exist here so I got pretzel sticks which likely came out of a bag. When I got my sandwich I realized instead of meat the main part of the sandwich was a marinated carrot. The carrot was literally a single, large carrot and difficult to chew. This restaurant offers meat-based products but a careful review of the menu indicated that it's very vegetarian focused. I'm not sure who this appeals to as a carrot sandwich is rarely going to be craved by someone that is drinking. They also have appetizers like grilled veggies and other strange options that aren't stereotypical bar foods. The arcade idea is pretty neat but the games are rather lacking and sometimes eat your quarters. The drink menu isn't bad but the guest taps aren't available as tasters which I find quite odd as they are on tap. I suppose I would consider coming back here, but unless your are desperately seeking a below average brewery with very bad food at a high price, I wouldn't recommend it. read more

Came here for a quick appetizer and beers a few nights before their grand opening. I am in agreement with some of the other folks. My wife and daughter and I got a weird vibe here even just walking up and looking through the windows. The decor is very wonky and disjointed ! The place is gigantic so even with a bunch of people inside it has a very deserted feel. Although the lighting in the booth area of the bar was fine, I'm not sure I would like to sit in the larger area with picnic tables as the weird bright lighting makes me feel like I'm getting ready to sit down and take the SAT. Not much of a place to catch a game and drink beer as there was one tiny little 32" tv in a corner of the bar that wasn't even on. It looked very lonely in this huge kinda empty space. Food wise decided just to have an onion dip and chips plate. We were kinda expecting something more (like big homemade potato chips for starters) We got what seemed like about 2 lbs of ordinary sour cream dip with the equivalent of a small bag of chips! Needless to say we didn't finish the dip as we had no chips! Only positive note was all our beers were fine. The atmosphere here is a bit off. Kind of cafeteria meets day care. If my kids were still little I'm sure I'd be stoked so I'm sure many families will enjoy it. I thought the food prices were high considering you order at the counter. I definitely felt that after we got our food. My arugula salad was huge but mostly all arugula. Topped with a strange slice of brie. The cauliflower was pickled. Which is good as a side dish but not on a salad with balsamic vinaigrette. Pretty sure my daughter's loaded Potato had canned chili. The rest of our party also thought their food was a bit strange. The beer was good though. The art on the beer menu makes it hard to read at any distance. Maybe have a tasting menu at each table? Since they are new, we'll come back at some point to try it again but we live in an area with great food options so at these prices with the current quality, I don't see my family visiting if there aren't changes. read more

Having two little ones I was excited to try this new place as I heard it was very kid friendly. They have a good selection of beer and some wine for the non beer drinkers. My kids were entertained by the games, however we ordered a variety of food items that all lacked flavor (even my kids didn't like the mac n cheese) and we left hungry. The food is overpriced especially for the quality. Being my first time there I went to the bar to order a drink like I normally would anywhere else and was told I could only order drinks in one specific spot by an employee that was standing around showing someone pictures on her phone. I feel the place has great potential but overall my family was very disappointed with the food and service. read more

I've been here a few times. The beer has always been outstanding, I really liked everything that I've tried. They do way better than many of their local competitors. It's nice that they offer a reasonable local wine and cider selection, too. I guess that I don't buy into the "family" concept. I understand it, but I'm not sold that it works. I don't want to drink craft beer with a bunch children running around, that sounds more like a picnic than a brewhouse. It seems like serious beer consumption/appreciation is really an adult thing. A few big screens with some sports on and interesting adult conversation...that's more like what I'm looking for. I also don't really get the food menu. It's big and has lots of stuff on it. Unfortunately, there's nothing on the menu that I would really care to eat. If you are a sausage fan this is the place for you...but the sheer amount of it seems odd to me. I do applaud them for trying something unique on the menu, I just don't think it works. I've never seen chips and dip on a pub menu before, I guess it's for the kids, I'd rather have some wings. Wild Fields is a truly special place. In addition to featuring some of the best beers in California, courtesy of Ryan Fields (formerly of Pizza Port San Clemente and Beachwood Blendery), they also have created a welcoming space for rhe whole family. We went there twice during our weekend in Atascadero and our 17-month old was so happy playing there, he never wanted to leave before we were ready. Food was great too, with lots of vegetarian and vegan options available. I had the vegan hot italian sausage with cole slaw. My wife is an omnivore and 100% German so she ordered Das Brat with the German potato salad (contains bacon) and she said it was the best potato salad she's ever had. We tried all 18 of the house beers that were on. Favorites included If It Makes You Hoppy, Windswept Fields, Montaña De Oro, and Unstuck In Time. Whether you are a parent or not, this is a destination-worthy trip for all serious beer lovers in central California. read more

We went there last night, first time. We ordered a polish kielbasa (Polishious) with chili, coleslaw topping and a side. All for $10, a bargain in this county; it was fabulous! The sausage tasted like a giant Lil Smokie. It was so juicy and perfect amount of smoke flavor. The chili complimented the fresh, slightly acidic and crunchy coleslaw. The oversized fresh bun was the perfect vessel for holding all the ingredients. The German potato salad was the best I've had. Not vinegar soaked. Garnished with a heaping spoon of bacon and spring onion. All was delicious. We spoke with Jacque for an extended period. She is so pleasant and personable. The children and families, teenagers and adults were all having a great time. This county needed an established like this. Please support them, they deserve it and we will be back! read more

We were excited to try a new eatery in Atascadero. It's a large building that is separated into a family picnic table style area and a bar area. There are lots of games for everyone ranging from toddlers to adults. We were confused when we walked in, looking for some signage or waiting for someone to acknowledge us about seating yourself or waiting to be seated. We grabbed some photocopy menus from the bar and we chose a booth in the bar area. We again waited for some acknowledgement or direction about ordering. We finally realized we needed to go order our food as it appeared this is a serve yourself operation. We ordered a sausage with German potato salad, mac and cheese with chili, coleslaw and a kids mac and cheese along with a cream soda and a non alcoholic beer. It was reported the sausage was good but grandmother would turn over in her grave at the German potato salad. The mac and cheese with the 3 bean chili had good flavor because of the chili on top. The menu stated The mac and cheese is made with homemade cheese sauce and cheddar cheese. I asked what the 3 bean chili was made from and the answer was 3 different beans. The poor kid at the register wasn't able to answer the question about what the 3 different beans were and had to ask someone (I think she may have been an owner). The coleslaw was doused with mayonnaise and apple cider vinegar, but it had the most flavor of the food we ordered. The kids mac and cheese tasted like boiled macaroni, we never tasted a homemade cheese sauce and there was maybe a teaspoon or so of grated cheddar cheese on top. It was tasteless but was edible with lots of salt and pepper. The cream soda was served in a bottle but the bottle was not opened. We took it to the bar to have it opened and they couldn't locate a bottle opener but finally located a wine bottle opener with an opener on the end of the handle. The non alcoholic raspberry beer was served in a can and it was tasty, something we would order again. The decor is something we were trying to figure out. It's just a big white empty feeling building. The signage appeared to be hand written. We're not sure what look they are trying to go for, but if it's professional they definitely missed the mark. The different flavors of beer signs are colorful, but difficult to read. As a plus, they do have a wine menu as well. The person at the bar was happy to talk to customers and share information, but to the point of not acknowledging or assisting anyone else that was waiting or standing there. We think it may have been an owner that came by and bused our table and asked us how everything was. We answered ok only because we didn't know if it was an owner or if it was an appropriate time to give our honest opinion. Hopefully they will read the reviews. We give them credit for trying to think outside the box and create a menu that is different from the norm, but there are several reviews that address the quality of the food and hopefully they'll be able to make some positive changes. It appears to be a good place for families or for a stop before or after the movies, but as an option for an eatery, we're sad to say we won't be going back. read more

This place is awesome! It is an absolute dream for families. It's full of adult and kid arcade games...bowling, foosball, air hockey, hoops, pinball, video games, plus a toddler zone for the littles. The beeeeer is so yummy. We are hop fans and the group of pale ales and IPAs did not disappoint. The saison and red ale were also well balanced and full of flavor. While my friend and I had beers, our children took care of themselves (and had a ball) in the arcade. Everyone ate and everyone was happy-tons of variety. I randomly tried the carrot dog as I'm trying to eat a little less meat and it was so smoky and tasty-with fresh jalapeños like icing on a cake. The sausage was also super tasty-my friend's order. The kids gobbled their Mac and cheese and veggies and hummus We also tried the pickled eggs that were show stoppers. I seriously want to have my daughter's birthday party here...or a great place for my son's soccer team to meet after a game. So stoked on this new spot!!! read more
