A restaurant that constantly shoots itself in the foot by offering up basically good food, if maybe too much of it, an extensive menu, and then destroys the experience with second rate service and an inexplicable refusal to serve decent coffee. Have they no clue that the conclusion of a dining experience is as important as any other component? Learn to brew good coffee. Break down and purchase espresso makers, learn to make decent cappuccino, and serve cream and sugar properly, not in little containers like a fast food joint. Your lofty prices demand a lot more sophistication and professionalism for me to consider your restaurant as top notch. read more

My wife and I found this place on Yelp, and based on its ratings, went by to have lunch. The outside looks like an old drive-in joint; the inside is a bit better, but not upscale by any means. However, when you look at the menu, and then try some dishes, this place is an absolute gem! My wife had a beet salad, and I a garlic fondue, both were wonderful. Then we both had the caldo de porko (a port stew) that was as good as any we have ever had. We took 2/3 of the caldo home for dinner so we wouldn't miss a drop! We'll be going back. read more

We drove by this place for ages wondering what in the heck was going on at Wild Garlic Grill. Some pretty delicious food and okay service is what is going on in there. It's a higher end restaurant that is unassuming from the outside, but pretty great on the inside. The price point is a little higher than I would have liked. That may have come from the so-so service... I will go again, but I don't eagerly point people in the direction of Wild Garlic. read more

Food was amazing overall. Wait staff seemed to be struggling. Ambiance is ok and doesn't match quality of food. Still rate stinking rose higher as far as garlic grub. read more

This place was suggested to us by a friend. The food was outstanding. The wine list is exceptional. You can tell they take great pride in their food. We had the New York Strip in a red wine reduction and Cabrillo with a buerre blanc. By far one of the top restaurants in Tucson. When you go there, ask to be seated at one of Michelle's tables. She will take great care of you. We will without a doubt be back. read more

Fantastic food from chef Steven Schultz. The mushroom bisque is outstanding. The pasta bolognese is my favorite standby comfort food, for less than $15 for a huge portion. read more

I really really liked this place! The service and food are excellent! I am going back very soon!

The place doesn't look like much but once you get in its pretty great! Seabass was to die for

Excellent food and service! What a cute little place also! Had the grilled garlic shrimp salad and tried their burger also...both fantastic! Will be back! read more

A hidden gem on North First. The exterior is so humble, almost shoddy but you walk in and it's really very nice and welcoming. Our server, Chris, was so wonderful and knowledgable. I had the Rack of Lamb and milady had the Sea Bass. We were absolutely blown away by the quality. Excellent Manhattans and Martinis, as well. The price was very reasonable considering the high-end quality and presentation. Oh, and the garlic shrimp and brie appetizer was to die for. read more

I visited the new restaurant location at Campbell and Skyline and give the folks high marks for establishing themselves so quickly in the new spot. Despite massive crowds, a new kitchen set up and (presumably) new staff, the service was pretty good and there were no significant menu screw ups. Basically, I enjoyed my meal of grilled salmon and my dining partners enjoyed their lamb chops-- but we all agreed the portion sizes were WAY too large and the plates were way overfilled with "stuff." Some might enjoy pretty roses on their plates, but this seems very unnecessary and, frankly, a little "dated." There were a number of vegetables on the plate but some were barely cooked (carrots) and the others were either unnecessary (plantain strips) or over-seasoned (kale). The lamb entree had a pile of mashed potatoes that had to be 10 feet high!! My recommendation is for Wild Garlic to scale back its portion sizes and sheer number of items that appear on the plate-- and concentrate on serving fresh, delicious entrees with little fanfare other than that. For my liking, the salmon with some lovely fresh steamed broccoli and some better-cooked baby carrots and perhaps a small portion of some kind of potatoes or carb would be quite preferable. I'm sure other sophisticated diners who enjoy quality (rather than quantity) would agree. I'll be back but hope you take my comments into consideration. read more

Very disappointing experience. We were so excited their new location was right across the street from our office, so we went in for a co-worker's birthday lunch. Things started out great - we were sat right away, we got our drinks and appetizer immediately. Once the app and drinks were dropped, we were forgotten. After 45 minutes of waiting, we had to get up and track someone down just to get drink refills. Once we received our drinks - our server disappeared again. After another 15 minutes, one of our party went to the host and asked to speak to a manager. This person told him there wasn't one and then walked away. Another 10 minutes after that, he asked another person to send us someone to talk to. Our server returned and we asked to cancel our order. He told us he would not cancel it but would ask them to wrap it up. We told him we were late getting back to work and we had to go. He said if we left, he would have to pay for our meals. We told him if he sent a manager over we would explain that we did not think it was reasonable that we would be paying $25-$35 per meal to not be able to enjoy it and instead have to take it to go. The hostess finally came over and we told her we needed to leave. We finally grabbed our stuff and headed for the door and they finally brought us our check so we could pay for our drinks and appetizer. Very disappointing, as the menu looked amazing and it smelled so good! read more

We also were celebrating our friends birthday. We had a 530 reservation. When we arrived we were told to wait at the bar which was impossible due to standing room only and all the seats were filled. People kept filing in behind us and soon the door was open with people behind us. We were finally led into the dining room and offered a table right by the entrance to the kitchen which we refused. They put us around the corner at another table. There were four of us and we ordered one wine and three mixed drinks. Our entrées were halibut, 2 orders of sole and I ordered Seabass with garlic mashed potatoes instead of risotto. When the meals were brought out they were not hot and my Seabass came with risotto. I called the waiter over and he took it away and brought me back a plate of Seabass loaded with vegetables were which were not done. They were not al dente by any stretch... they were not edible! I again called the waiter over and said I ordered mashed potatoes and he said "oh I thought you said you wanted double vegetables.Pretty soon he re-emerged from the kitchen with a plate of what could've very easily been instant mashed potatoes. They had absolutely no garlic flavor at all. My portion of fish was no more than 2 to 3 ounces and when you're paying $28, that is unacceptable. My Seabass had absolutely no flavor whatsoever I gave bites to two people at the table and they said "it doesn't have any taste there's no flavor. When we got the bill it was $203 and the food was no more than 120 of that. That means that forone wine and three cocktails they charged us over $70. Come to find out they charged $18 for a martini In any event we all decided this was "a one and done" In addition there was a sign in the front saying that they had installed lots of new ceiling tiles to damp down the noise. Obviously they had not worked as we could hardlycarry on conversation due to the noise The waiter we had was accommodating at first but was slow to bring any cocktails and we did not get bread despite asking for it three times Obviously we will not return ....neither will her friends. read more

Went on Friday night. Sea bass on risotto was good. Chipotle pork, not so good. Waitstaff seemed to be spread too thin. Forgot our forks and it was awhile before we could get utensils, waited a long time to get check after eating, for examples, even though our server was obviously working hard. Music was loud and table conversation was reduced to charades. I'm glad I tried it, some things good. read more

Yup, ignore the looks from the outside. This place is awesome. The indoor decor is awesome. The staff is very friendly. The menu is perfect and the food was awesome. It was big portions but perfect sized and tasted great. The drinks were delicious, too. I don't have anything bad to say about this place! I will definitely return. read more

Food was awesome! I didn't like the fondue but everything else was delicious and large portioned. The service was sub-standard but the hostess was nice. And the drinks were great (strong)! I had the stuffed salmon and my honey had sea bass. Both really delicious! read more

I travel all over North America. This is a fabulous find. It's a made over A&W root bear stand. The drive in is now screened in, just fine for Tucson. It also has an inside area. The food and presentation is divine, and over the top tasty. The chef we know from other locations, but this place allows him creativity and lower overhead. We will eat here often. read more

What a wonderful surprise! This place looks like nothing from the outside but the inside wait staff and ambience is very elegant. The food was plated beautifully and delicious also. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

On Friday nite at 5:30 pm, great food, reasonable price, good service - BUT horribly noisy. Two tables of 8-10 people drinking heavily at back of place were so loud as to ruin everyone else's dinner. Never going back. read more

I have been a fan in the past and have always enjoyed my meals here, hey what can I say, I like to eat ! I feel the quality of food and service has gone down lately. The last 3 visits have not been amazing relating to service and food. I'm sure Ill go back again as Mrs M woofs down the salmon like it was her last meal but for me just so so. Maybe because of their popularity now they are overwhelmed ? I hope it gets better, Ill report back. read more

We went here for the first time on Mother's Day. We made reservations for 7 of us at noon and we were promptly seated out in the covered patio. Our waitress immediately engaged us in conversation and was very attentive! AMBER is by far one of the best waitresses I have experienced in Tucson!! My personal pet peeve is when the wait staff does not know the wine list - she was ON IT!! I'm so impressed!! The food was beyond delicious and the presentation was spectacular!! I was also impressed with the fact we could order off of their regular menu on Mother's Day and they didn't charge us an arm and a leg!! This by far is my new favorite restaurant!! Thank you Wild Garlic Grill for making our Mother's Day FANTASTIC! Kudos!! read more

Big portions! The restaurant had a fast staff with great service. A friend and I went last night for dinner, and everything was delicious and fresh. It was a great value, considering how much food you get. The only thing is that the bread could have used a little less time in the oven. read more

For an appetizer I order ceviche, which was a perfect size then the Chicken linguine for my entree. The service was fast and very helpful, and knowledgeable about the wine. read more

My family and I went this past Sunday and had a pleasant experience. On the outside you wouldn't expect such a gem inside. It is elegant inside with attentive wait staff. The menu has many options. We enjoyed two of the specials which included a salmon and venison dish each paired with a wonderful mixed vegetable side. We also had a vegan diner who enjoyed their chef created meal. The fish was by far the favorite of the table it was flaky and the most moist delicately prepared salmon I have had so far. The only let down was dessert. We had the cherry cobbler crisp dish which was lacking flavor and dimensions especially for us who love dessert but this is something we can overlook to enjoy a good dinner. read more

I've eaten there twice and the service both times was the absolute worst of any place I've ever eaten

Had a great dinner party of 10 this weekend. Great food, drinks, and service. The dishes were creative and were prepared with the highest quality ingredients. Everyone had a great meal and evening. We cant wait to return and enjoy all the Chefs cuisine! read more

Ordered the Portobello mushroom salad and added grilled chicken. The chicken was overcooked and the server stated that all chicken breast here is dry so sent it back. The salad was great though. read more

One of my Tucson favorites for foodies. Parking is not easily done and may I suggest a reservation.

Went in on a Thursday evening. The place was packed so I sat at the bar. I had the salmon and a signature cocktail. The kitchen is open so you can watch the chef prepare the food. The lamb shank looked great and so did the sea bass. I plan on going back for the seafood stew it looked great. The prices are very good as well for the taste, quality and portions. read more

This was our second visit. First time I had. Sea Bass and it was wonderful. Our waitress was super nice, we'll informed about the menu, and the service was great. This time the service and our waitress was a bit "Spacey". She seemed overtaxed and forgetful, even though it was a Wed. Night and not crowded, and the large table next to us was attended by another server. Said she was bringing us all a complementary cup of their new soup to try. Never arrived. Nor did the water we asked for. I asked if the pasta on the Bolognese dish was home made. Assured me it was. Obviously it was not and tasted straight from a box. The Bolognese was basically flavorless, needed spices, and there was about 3 lbs on the plate. Would have much preferred quality over quantity, and ate only about a quarter of it before giving up. To be fair the three others in our party loved their entrees. The beet salad we shared was very good and my wife's salmon was great. Out friends meals, ribs and salmon, were pronounced excellent. So, I apparently I made a bad choice based on some bad advice. Probably should have gone with the seafood stew. I will return, but this place would benefit greatly from a more knowledgeable and consistent wait staff AND few good beers on tap ( please, no Peroni or Moretti !) read more

Absolutely delicious! Great date night place. Cheese fondue was great along with the seared ahi tuna and the san Francisco pier stew. Good happy hour. You wouldn't this expect this type of food in it's currently location but man is it a great gem! Defiantly recommend it read more

I had never heard of this place but a friend suggested it and we went with a group of people...we got the garlic shrimp appetizer, garlic shrimp salad, a side salad and the pasta bolognese.....everything was absolutely delicious! All I can say is WOW!! Amazing, gourmet food that is reasonably priced and super delicious. I took my husband here for his birthday, and it is our new favorite restaurant! We started off with the mussels for our appetizers and the sauce they came in was so good, we had more bread brought to us so we could finish it off. I ordered the Salmon special which had so much flavor, and my husband ordered the lunch special chicken linguini which he really enjoyed. Their sangria is fantastic! You will pay about the same or even more for some chain restaurant food that was heated from a bag and served to you. This restaurant is the real deal! My compliments to the chef and staff! read more

Hands down best seafood I've had in Tucson. We started with garlic shrimp served with warm Brie and I couldn't even begin to describe how incredible it was. I had the stuffed salmon and it was equally amazing. I can't wait to go back and try the garlic fries. Lastly we had the flourless chocolate torte, which although was delicious was very rich. The portions for the entrees were on the large size (thank god) so the torte was perfect to split. I also had the red sangria and oh my was I pleased. All in all I had an amazing experience. read more
