Does this restaurant have a full bar?

We have a sushi bar. We don't sell hard liquor. We only serve sake, red wine, white wine, and beer.

The staff was incredibly attentive and made us feel well cared for. Once they learned it was our anniversary, everyone greeted us warmly! Best sushi in Jacksonville, hands down! Always so fresh + flavorful with great portions. We ordered the Oceanside and Sand Dollar roll. Oceanside is a MUST try, it truly is the best sushi roll I've had in Jax. The atmosphere is luxurious and feels like you're stepping into a whole new city! Love it here!!!

We started with the edamame, with the sea salt and truffle oil, which is always delicious. The service over the evening was very slow, and we spent a lot of time waiting on food. We sat in our favorite spot at the bar window so our server also appeared the be working behind the bar and was busy making drinks. We love sake and usually get a bottle of the Noble Arrow. We asked for a recommendation and the server recommended the Soul of the Sensei, which is $107 for the bottle. We were celebrating our 24th anniversary so we went for it. He said it was on the dry side, but we found it very unexpectedly sweet, almost like a moskato wine. It wasn't surprising when we read the back of the label and saw the flavor profile was all the way on the fruity side, with notes of Muscat grape. We definitely made a mistake by not tasting it first, so we ended up asking for a bag to take it home and ordered 2 glasses of the Noble Arrow. It was a disappointing start. Next we ordered the yellowtail carpaccio, which was very good, although the size of the fish pieces overall seemed smaller than usual. Everything we ordered over the evening was undeniably tasty, but small. We got the Usuzukuri salmon and when they brought it, they had the tuna carpaccio as well. The person who brought it said it was a gift. Later, we were charged $2 on the bill for the "gift." It's not much, but it's just that giving us a gift and then putting a charge on the bill for it was very strange. Overall, I still love the food at O-Ku, but this was not the best experience. We had gone there previously for our anniversary and they made it feel special. This time there wasn't any kind of recognition besides possibly the "gift" we had to pay extra for. And the service was so slow that we ended up drinking the bottle of sake we didn't like rather than waiting for another drink order. Every place will have its off nights, and this unfortunately seemed to be one of them. I would still recommend going there, because even though the portions are tiny and expensive, the taste is delicious.

Karai Ramen Bistro is a full on experience and one of the best restaurants!…read more The restaurant is dark, intimate, and tucked away in a way that makes you feel like you've discovered a hidden gem. The vibe is fantastic and the staff matches it perfectly, friendly, warm, and attentive. We went twice in the late afternoon and never waited for a table, which is a huge bonus for a spot this good. The small plates alone are worth the visit. The Katsu Sando Sliders feature crispy chicken katsu on soft potato bread with fresh cabbage, katsu sauce, Japanese mayo, red onion, and sweet pickle peppers, every element working in perfect harmony. The Potato Korokke was equally incredible, perfectly crispy on the outside and filled with katsu fried potato and vegetables paired with katsu sauce and Japanese mayo. The Gyoza were perfectly crispy Japanese fried chicken dumplings, and the Harumaki was a great addition too. Everything fried here is done with real skill, the crunch is always there and never overdone. If you love spice, the KakuKara Ramen is an absolute must. A rich, creamy sesame broth made from chicken and pork stock with Japanese hot sauce and red miso, it is spicy, deeply flavorful, and completely addictive. Loaded with pork belly kakuni, homemade pickled peppers, cabbage, cilantro, green onions, and sesame seeds on those perfect curly noodles, it is everything you hope ramen will be. If you prefer something milder, the Katsu Shio Ramen is a beautiful classic, a delicate Japanese sea salt and dashi seasoned chicken broth with shiitake mushrooms, katsu chicken, red and green onions, and the most wonderful onsen tamago custard egg that takes the whole bowl to another level!

Both of them were pretty good and were done quickly. My one thing is that they are pretty small portions in my opinion. I wish there was more in the bowls. The spot is cute though and the lady behind the counter was sweet. They have a restaurant to pick up from and then a couple doors over is the restaurant you can sit down and eat. Would love to sit down and eat here soon to see what that experience is like.

We ordered two rolls: the Las Vegas roll (salmon, mango, and cream cheese) and a specialty Phoenix roll with spicy tuna inside, topped with lobster salad, tobiko, and avocado, served with wasabi mayo sauce. The rolls were a decent size, but the flavors didn't really stand out and felt like a slight miss. For an entrée, I ordered the Thai fried rice--specifically the Thai Special basil fried rice with chicken, beef, shrimp, and egg. I chose heat level #2, which was just right. However, there were only four small pieces of shrimp, which felt skimpy. The portion size was what I expected, but was disappointed to find a paper wrapper mixed into the fried rice. This was a phone order for two people, yet we were only given one set of chopsticks and one soy sauce container. Small details like that matter. For a first experience, this place fell short of expectations. The restaurant was pretty packed for a Wednesday night, and the ambiance looked welcoming and comfortable. Maybe dining in would be a better experience. Pricing was also slightly higher compared to other Thai restaurants in the area.
