Went to lunch here and was surprised at how bad it was for the great reviews that it has. We started with spring rolls, which obviously weren't fresh, they seemed like the kind you get in the frozen section at Walmart. The miso soup was lacking in flavor, undercooked, and the tofu pieces were obviously over processed. The more plain sushi rolls were decent, but the tempura or whatever they fried the rolls in was an odd taste and texture. Our server didn't clear our plates until brining our sushi out, a huge no-no for anyone who has worked in the service industry. Overall, I wished we had gone somewhere else for lunch. I tried a hot banana sushi off the menu that was tasty. The other sushi were not as good. The free sake was not good. I hated it. But I drank it cause it was free and I didn't want it to go to waste. So at first glance you could mistake this place for just another "take out Chinese restaurant" in the area but that's not the case here. While they do offer take out, this is a very decent and nice restaurant complete with a full sushi bar. This place has a great atmosphere and vibe. Their orange chicken and pad Thai were . Horrible. Their soup taste like hotdog water and my husband described his general tsos chicken as handjob from a man, it gets the job done, but he really wish it didn't. I've been eyeing this place for awhile, patiently waiting for it to finally open. Serendipitously, we stumbled on their grand opening while trying to go to the neighboring Sunoco. The place is SUPER new so there weren't many other customers there for a 3 pm weekday lunch. Either way, our server was very nice and attentive. I'm definitely loving that the servers carry tablets to submit orders and also to help them be your cashier when paying by card. Hopefully it stays reliable when the restaurant is actually full. The food was pretty good. Generally speaking I've found Asian food in the South is always a bit sweeter than the Asian foods I grew up with in California and Hawaii - as is also the case here. Nevertheless when pitted against other local offerings, Wild Ginger definitely holds their own. The orange chicken is served hot and slightly crisp, my husband's pad thai was also excellently prepared. We also ordered the chicken pot stickers - an odd meat choice for the potsticker but it still tasted pretty good. Finally we ordered 2 sushi rolls - the dynamite (a fried roll) and the summerville (a riff on a rainbow roll). There was a wasabi sauce served with the summerville roll that was absolutely wonderful! And the dynamite roll was very tasty in its own right. Overall we had a lovely meal, wonderful service and the added bonus of an awesome playlist filled with tunes by Jack Johnson and friends. We continue to be impressed with this restaurant! The food is AH-MAZING, but the service is unparalleled. Our experience: In house service is SPOT ON, but we have also had delivery via Door Dash. Quality is not diminished due to delivery. For our delivery this evening, we called the restaurant to inquire about the status. Not only did the hostess know our name prior to us telling her, she made sure to note the delivery was a little late due to their capacity being met at the restaurant and an increased number of online orders. The hostess was honest about why our scheduled delivery was a little behind, which to us, made a big difference. She said it was due to the reasoned I mentioned above, not the driver. An employee told me they have had this complaint before. But that it is up to the owner to correct or change the menu. Service was not great, but not extremely bad either. The server did not offer to remove the steak bowl from the check, in which the steak could not be eaten. Edit: so we have made this our usual take out place but now we will stop coming. I think they changed cooks or management or something because now the food isn't very fresh, it has that freezer stale taste or they cooked it the day before. I am not sure what happened with this place but it's not longer quality food. Also the portions are way smaller and I think they upped the prices. The wait for pick up is sometimes over three hours. I get they get busy but that seems excessive. So amazing! We found the best place! Best take out, we can't wait to go back!! Food came right on time and big portions. Everything is so fresh! Food and Sushi were great, but left a bad taste in my mouth. Not from the food, but the piece of chipped plate that I bit down on in my Pad Thai. Wasn't offered a new dish or any discount or full refund. Not sure if they noticed the loud noise of plates hitting and then a piece of it missing and where it might have disappeared to. So me and my mother we're in the Summerville area due to me getting a new wire on my braces, 11:00am hits and we are hungry, so we both decided on sushi, for the simple fact we both enjoy the food. We get to the place, and walk in. It was clean, calming, and aesthetically pleasing. We started with two teas and a salad with ginger dressing. The bowls look great and the salad was great. We then continued with our main lunch being a Nigiri sushi, and hers crab crunch and shrimp crunch sushi, the setup was gorgeous. The flavors and the food was fulfilling.
