My wife and I had lunch and dinner there on the same day. Both meals were mediocre. I would not go back.

Held our daughter's wedding reception here a couple weeks ago. Everything went smoothly, the food was awesome. Enjoyed a nice meal here with my family of four. It was a Friday night and they had live music outdoors so we sat inside so we could talk. Food was all delicious - really had no complaints except that we waited a little long for the entrees. We ordered the Ahi Tuna appetizer which was yummy. Also ordered the Pan Seared Trout, Portabella Meatload and the Filet Mignon w/ shrimp scampi (which I split with my daughter - it's huge). Cocktails and wine were great and priced reasonably. Food was ok but not worth the price. Service was good but overshadowed by the crumbling decor (ripped carpet, stained chairs, etc). There was also an extremely noisy table next to us so I could hardly hear my husband. It's like this place is trying to be upscale and ritzy but they don't know how. I walked in to not being greeted even though the staff was directly in front of me. Other people walked in and we're immediately greeted. Once I was sat with my party, the waiter didn't seem to realize I had arrived (mind you it's a party of 6, not very hard to realize one more person has arrived) I asked for a new york, pink in the center, I received it completely well done and gray. Lovely interior or patio seating on the Reno River Walk (Truckee River). Interesting menu. Full bar. Excellent service. Relaxing 50's and 60's background music (we usually hate background music). We shared a smoked salmon wrap and a roast veggie salad - both excellent and right amount for two persons, $18 total. We would go there again. read more

Not worth it. The spare ribs are bland and are $26. For that price, food should have flavor. It falls apart with a fork, but it tastes like a beef pot roast rather than ribs. My fiance had a Shrimp pasta dish that was okay, but again it was $24. The only unique item was the pesto, so the price did not back up the dish. Nothing there was exceptional. Half of the silverware on the table was dirty and the food service operated at a snail pace. We were one of four groups seated. You should take your money and go somewhere downtown where the money you spend will blow you away with food, drinks, and better service. The only really amazing feature about this restaurant is the atmosphere. Being able to see and hear the river is incredible. read more

I think this place is being rated for the setting and not the food. It's a terrific spot to sit around, but on my three visits the service was slow and indifferent and the food barely average. The Mothers Day brunch for four came to more than $150 before adding a tip. The eggs Benedict were served on English muffins so hard they were difficult to cut with a knife, with flavorless hollandaise over "Canadian bacon" that was a dead ringer for thin-sliced deli-pack lunchmeat ham. I can think of three Reno restaurants offhand that do better for a couple of dollars less. Two people in our party ordered the "unlimited" mimosas for $11, but they turned out to be limited by no one showing up to refill the glasses. The waiter was friendly but far too busy to provide good service (to be fair, they were very busy--but they should have expected that on Mothers Day). I may go back, for the location and because everyone else seems to like the place, but it's been disappointing so far. read more

Kind of a real yawner, decent location right on the river but the food was just okay little expensive I had the wild mushroom ravioli and my wife had the marsala meatloaf I guess if I was really hungry I might've given it three stars after a second nah. Best Ribeye we've had in a long time. The restaurant is on the Truckee River Walk, and the patio seating was delightful. Wait staff were friendly, prompt, and attentive. We read some good and some mixed reviews so decided to try wild River. It was excellent. Sat outside following a rainstorm that cooled things from the 100s into the breezy 80s. There was music about 7:15 which was excellent - acoustic guitar and a young lady with perfect tone sang songs we loved on key all set. The service was good and the food was prepared just how we liked - duck breast and trout were very nice and went well with a Caesar salad and chipped beat salad, respectively. Wine was ok. Some have written it is over priced. I disagree. It is not a bargain but you get really good food for a reasonable price. There's a difference between spending more than you wanted to, and being over priced - this is priced just right. So be prepared to spend $100 for 2 salads,2 entrees, wine and a desert (creme brule was good) before tip. Loved everything but the two person acoustic singing was the difference maker between just good and outstanding. read more

The onion soup was tasty but the fish was terrible. We first ordered the orange roughy special and it was a mushy mess. They brought the trout and it tasted like it was a week old. They took them both off the bill but needless to say we had a bad experience here. read more

Just had lunch here today. I had the BLAT sandwich and it was very good. The bread was toasted just right the bacon was flavorful and the avocado was ripe and perfect. I ate at the bar and the bartender Sinead was friendly and personable in a real way which added to my dining experience. I'm an out of towner so this was only my second time here but both experiences were good. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in Reno. read more

We were there this summer and had a really good experience. I only had a salad but my husband had the new york steak and seemed to really enjoyed it. The outside seating with live music was perfect on that warm summer night! So we return to try in the fall. We knew it would be inside seating as the weather was now quite chilly in the evening. I was excited this time because I had decided to try "real food" as my husband calls it. I skipped the salads and went straight into the steak and specialty section! I decided on the chicken piccata. My husband again had the New York steak. When our meals arrived I was disappointed to see skin and bone on my chicken...but I was still optimistic on the taste. Again disappointed! Chicken was somewhat bland and dry. The polenta was okay but the zucchini was bland as well. It was not the experience I was hoping for. My husband on the other hand enjoyed his steak again. The risotto was very good but agreed that the zucchini was bland. I will give them credit for how fast they brought the food out. I had not eaten since breakfast to prepare my stomach so I was really hungry. Overall food was okay but sad to say I was not impressed. I'll stick with the salad! read more

Tried out the Wild River Grille for lunch. Starting off with the very friendly Hostess Emma, the service was great. Brittany, our waitress was friendly, helpful, and attentive. I ordered the BLT and I think it is safe to say that it was one of the best BLTs I have ever had. My friend ordered the lobster Mac N' Cheese and said it was delicious. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys good food, a good atmosphere, and friendly staff. read more

We moved to Reno in July, after visiting several times in the past 7years. We soon discovered Wild River Grille on the Truckee. What a culinary blessing! The ambiance, the wait staff and the food are all inviting and rewarding. The NY strip with fingerling potatoes and mushrooms is one of the best my husband has ever devoured...and he is a steak man! I try different dishes, but the scallops are the most tasteful, mouthwatering items on the menu. Everyone is very friendly, the timing is perfect and we shall continue to dine all throughout the seasons. read more

This was our first time to Wild River Grille and we enjoyed it tremendously. We sat in the bar area with its warm and inviting ambiance. The service was great! Our waiter was friendly, attentive and made knowledgeable suggestions from the menu.We felt the wine selection was quite nice as well, both by the glass and bottle. We had the crab/salmon cakes for an appetizer along with the NY Strip and the meatloaf with mashed potatoes. Everything was delicious, especially the steak. My boyfriend took me here before a day at the museum. We tried the salmon cakes as an appetizer. They were fantastic! I was just sad that there were only 3 small cakes for the two of us, so just a few bites...but boy were they tasty! I had the fish & chips for lunch. The fries were a little too salty, and the fish wasn't quite salty enough. The tartar sauce was excellent though, and I don't usually like tartar sauce. It was also served with a spicy slaw...oh my goodness, I could have eaten a quart of this stuff! My boyfriend ordered their chicken wrap with the lime salt chips. That meal was so good, we ordered a second to go! We had wine because they didn't have our favorite beer, but the homemade lemonades they make look amazing! Purchased a living social deal to Wild River Grille, and it was a total waste of money. The service was horrible, waited over an hour for unappetizing food. Had dishes broken around our feet, which cut a couple of our legs, and nothing done about it. Brought it to the attention of the manager, if that's what you want to call him and just received dumb ass looks. The whole restaurant was giving off strange vibes and very unhappy employees... This is what is happening to our Restaurants!!! Such a shame!!! Save your money and eat somewhere else!!!!!! read more

We had 10 people for dinner on a Tuesday night, which meant an automatic 18% gratuity for the waiter, which also meant he was absent most of the time. They could have made so much more money if he would have come around more often for cocktail service, or even just to see if we needed something. He was lucky we had a generous host because he did not deserve a 5% tip, let alone a 30% tip. Food was good, service not so much. read more

Went to Wild River Grille this evening for dinner and decided to sit inside. I had never been here before and It was pretty nice and the food really good. I had shrimp pasta and my husband has meatloaf and it was really good! Kudos to the chef. Our waiter was really helpful and fast ( our receipt says his name is Jensen). Speaking of receipts, when it came, I expected it to be higher, but was pleasantly surprised. We will definitely come back. It's nice to know there is a nice restaurant in Reno that is not attached to a casino! Next time we will sit outside! read more

Now That's what I call a fancy place! I've lived in Reno for a decade and just went to Wild River Grille for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Well worth the wait and definitely met and exceeded my expectations. We were seated outside on a nice breezy July evening and had a live blues band stir up the air with some awesome groovy beats. The atmosphere is spectacular - super romantic and classy. Definitely more of an upscale vibe but the service was great - not pretentious or too much in our faces. The waitress readily split the entree for us (she just didn't mention the additional fee so beware if you split a meal- ask!), gave us great recommendations and was very approachable. The prices were high but even with a split entree we both left full and satisfied. We had the white fish over rizotto cake with zuccini on the side and spicy creamy sauce - yummy!! read more

I had the Mahi Mahi, served over a fried patty of risotto, with zucchini/squash as a side. The fish had a spicy chipotle yogurt sauce on top. I would have given this a one star rating, but the food was edible. The Mahi was way, WAY over done, and the fried risotto was so greasy it was unpalatable. The whole thing could have been saved with more of the spicy sauce, as the whole dish needed the contrast (by the way, the sauce was broken). The vegetables were fine. They gave me and my wife three small slices of bread (small= 1"x2"x1/4") and practically had to beg for 3 more mini slices. So, in short I had a piece of fish that had all the moisture cooked out of it, and that fillet sat upon a lukewarm Mcdonalds hashbrown. Wild River Grille should be ashamed of the quality control, and I will never return....go to Campo. read more

While spending five days in Reno recently (with side trips to Tahoe, Virginia City and Truckee), we ate at the Wild River Grille three times--once in the grille itself, once in the River Room and once on the patio at the River Walk. All three times we had an amazing meal--excellent food, fine ambiance and friendly, welcoming, efficient service. We especially appreciated our server/bartender both evenings, Brandon, who was quite busy multitasking but still had time to make recommendations on food and beverages (which we tried and enjoyed) and to chat with us. If you go, be sure to try the soups of the day, the salads and the crab/salmon cakes. Yummy! read more

Went with a friend during the first weekend of March Madness. The place had a great atmosphere, very cool. I had the caesar salad and the filet. The salad was great. The fillet was ok. It didn't have the amount of seasoning that I am accustomed at good restaurants. It was a little bland; however, it was cooked perfectly. My buddy got the clams as an appetizer, which were excellent, and a fish entree. He said the fish was great. I would totally go back again; however, I may order something different next time. read more
