Whole chicken
Jetrina M.

We ordered pick up for dinner on a Saturday evening. Their online platform made it easy to place our order. We ordered the whole bird meal, which came with a whole chicken, 2 large sides, 8 tortillas and 2 sauces. Our sides were the beans and the kale salad - there is an extra cost for "premium sides", which we did not get. We ordered their white sauce and one of the red ones. We also ordered a regular size side of rice. We enjoyed the flavor of the chicken and the portion size was enough to last 4 total meals. It reminds me a bit of an "elevated" el pollo loco. I believe we paid $35 pre-tax for the meal, not sure how much the regular size was but for everything including tip was about $50. Pick up was very easy and it was packaged and ready by the time we arrived at the restaurant. We walked here from our home so not sure about parking, but I think there is free parking under the building.

Congrats on the grand opening Wildbird! Love that they have 50% off for the full day during their grand opening week plus free meals for the first 20 guests 8/11-8/13 :) GRAND OPENING DEALS Mon 8/11 - quarter bird meals 50% off Tue 8/12 - burritos 50% off Wed 8/13 - market plates 50% off SERVICE Was excellent! Quick to take my order and offered free samples of their watermelon Fresca. Order was ready in a couple of minutes. FOOD Pretty solid meal! 2 pieces of dark meat (leg/thigh) with a side of their sweet potatoes and uptown mac and cheese. 2 tortillas on the side and 1 choice of salsa for free otherwise it's $0.75 for extra I believe! I chose the wild sauce and it was super spicy, creamy, and delicious. The chicken was juicy and lemony but portions were small for the price. The sweet potatoes were a bit soggy, but had a great pepper seasoning and the macaroni and cheese was cheesy! Watermelon Fresca ($4) Refreshing! Love that it's made with fresh watermelon juice. PRICE A bit on the pricyyy side for $16 + $1.85 for macaroni and cheese (premium sides). INSIDE Clean! Huge menu on the screen which I appreciate for blind bats like me :3 SEATING Not much but there is a small bar seating inside and a few tables outside. OVERALL A solid meal with great variety and awesome service, but a bit pricy without the deals so enjoy them while you can!!

This guac is 6.50 lol

Rice had no flavor, guac is over priced, paid for xtra salsa and it wasn't there. Won't be ordering from here ever again.

Recently opened Wildbird in Culver City offers another dining option in this trendy city fueled by growth from companies such as Amazon and Apple. There's nothing special about the dining area vibe other than it's small. It's clean. I ordered the tostada bowl with shredded chicken. Nothing really special. Might have to try something else on their menu next time.

Salads

Wow this place is SPICYYYYY. We ordered the two salad choices. The chicken salad dressing was a simple balsamic vinaigrette. The veggie one was a spicy chile dressing. So happy I ordered the dressing on the side. The buffalo cauliflower was spicy. The batter didn't stick to the cauliflower but it did soak up the sauce. There's many vegetarian side options but wish there were more beans in the salad. I know this is a chain so I doubt they'd change the menu based on a review, but would be great for a plant based protein item. All of the toppings were fresh. The kale was massaged and chopped finely. I took the chicken off the kale salad to try the salad bc I loved the topping selection. The app doesn't allow you to sub or remove the chicken for the beans or a dif side. Paid about $38 for two salads and a side of the cauliflower.

The restaurant was decorated for the Fourth of July, creating a festive atmosphere, and everything from the décor to the aromas felt genuine and welcoming. The staff was attentive, personable, and made the experience even better. I ordered a chicken and steak burrito with rice, beans, and cheese, and it was outstanding. The shredded chicken in mole sauce was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor, while the steak was cooked perfectly and complemented the burrito beautifully. My only gripe is that the prices continue to rise and the chips and salsa are only free for the first basket, which really takes away the appeal of a local family style Mexican restaurant. My fav burrito is now $20, and while the burrito itself is large, it's a high price to pay for just a burrito with no sides. I think if the chips and salsa were still unlimited the increase in food prices wouldn't be such a hit as well. Their drinks are always great I just wish they had happy hour since the prices really are up there with other new and modern restaurants with no fun deals or unlimited chips and salsa like many other family style places. Their servers are kind and attentive and there's not a crazy amount of tables so there tends to be a wait no matter the time of day. Also parking can be hard to find as it's basically located inside a neighborhood.

The nopalito salad was good, but on the smaller side. Maybe good for 1-2 people. All the food was good! Shared the "taste of Oaxaca" plate with a friend, which was good but maybe not the best thing to share since you had to slice up the protein, etc. Lots of mezcal cocktails - I ordered the Chido Wey and really enjoyed it. Did not like the Al Chile! as much. Very sweet and not much spice. The service was a little slow sometimes. He came by to ask about dessert and we said we needed a few minutes and then he never came back. We ended up having to get up to ask for our check. There is limited street parking. Pricey but I decided to try them: Chicken taco: weakest of the bunch, not very enjoyable flavor in the marinade. Carne asada: good. Tender steak, good flavor. Limited outdoor seating by the streets, but definitely fits the vibes for a "Taco Tuesday". Tacos on Tuesday are $5 which are still quite pricey. FOOD Tried their surf and turf burrito which is way too pricey for $17 + $4 including rice, beans, pico de gallo, lettuce, jack cheese, pickled onion, and a side of chips. Plenty of parking, and, while the line looked quite intimidating, the wait was not nearly as bad as it looked. Really fast service and friendly staff members. Note that there's not a lot of seating, so be prepared to potentially eat in your car or take the food to-go. I ordered a Tito's taco, an enchilada, a cup of guacamole to accompany the chips and salsa with my order, and a piña agua fresca. The taco was delicious. It could have been stuffed just a bit more, but it absolutely hit the spot. The enchilada was not nearly as good as the taco, unfortunately. Texture was very tough and dense, and the flavors were not quite there. The piña agua, however, was absolutely fantastic. Tasted exactly like a fresh pineapple with a perfect level of sweetness. The chips and salsa were my favorite part of the meal, though. The salsa was superb, the guac tasted great (very much a creamy, less viscous texture), and the chips were perfectly fried and obviously fresh. Personally, I thought the prices were fair for what we received. Way higher than a taco stand where the quality would be better, equal or slightly less than a taqueria, but way lower than one of the boutique taco shops around the area, especially given the fact that the chips and salsa come with each meal.

The tacos remain the best beef hard shell and the salsa is the best in the world. However, it is an absolute tragedy and should be illegal that it's $6.15 for one taco with cheese and $14.70 for a beef cheese burrito. It is also a tragedy that the burrito is kids size that my 2 year old can eat on their own. These used to be my favorite and huge, but I can no longer order them. This place used to be a family favorite but I can no longer order extras like we used to. They closed off the inside which was convenient to order, I think just to make the outside look busy. I'm not a fan of these new changes to my favorite taco place in LA.
