    Smoked Goulda Cheesesteak.

If you enjoy mystery ingredients and experimental menu honesty, Willie's Grill in Leander might be your spot. I ordered the Smoked Gouda Cheesesteak, which the menu claims comes with "peppers." What they actually mean is "jalapeños hiding in the shadows." The heat was so unexpected that I had to send the whole thing back and order something entirely different. When I brought it up, the shift lead/manager casually told me the menu was a "test menu." Fascinating. I didn't realize customers were part of the experiment. At least my soda was cold and my fries were fresh! If this is their idea of a strong opening, I'll pass. ‍

The food service was fast and the server was sweet as can be! Our kids loved the kids play area, it was clean and gives the parents a little reprieve during dinner. The fried pickles were hands down some of the best I've had! Crisp, Thinly sliced and seasoned perfectly. Cesar salad was lack luster and didn't have much flavor and the lettuce seemed to be old. My kids loved their hamburger! Happy Hour specials are amazing and very cheap even on Friday! We will definitely be back to try some other items.

Service was 5-star. The the chicken-strawberry-cranberry Balsamic Salad was ample and very good. Wife got cheeseburger and fries, and said it was as good as any she has. Had. They also have a full bar including craft beer. The prices are average with other places of this genre. We only had water to drink and the bill was $27.00 before tax and tip. These were the lower price items on the menu. We would go back again if we were in the area at mealtime, but not make a special effort, as there are many places like this closer to where we live.

You only get one first impression and Willie's Curbside made sure it was their best! I ordered a shrimp plate with grilled shrimp, mashed potatoes and veggies. I arrived, parked in their designated stalls and before I even attempted to figure out how to notify them I was there, someone was standing at my window with a bag!! Now that's what I call great service. Once I got home the food was in my belly. Loved the mashed potatoes with the skins left in along with the creamy texture and buttery flavor. Yum! Veggies cooked nicely (could've used a bit of seasoning). Shrimp was good but a tad overcooked. I appreciated that there were 8 of shrimp though! I shall return to Willie's and will even go inside next time to see if the dine in service is just as good as curbside,

6 STARS ******Absolutely delicious!!! Better than any Willie's I've ever been to! Met my friend and we sat at the bar after work about 730pm. My burger was cooked to perfection! Juicy and super delicious, full of flavor. My friends bacon jam patty melt was awesome! (Sweet potato fries were a little salty imo & and would be really good served with a chipotle aïoli). The onion rings were massive & so delicious. Personally, I would cut the width in half but everybody has their preference. Either way, they were still delicious crispy and cooked to perfection! Hats off the the cook! Jacob the bartender was great, made recommendations for food and he was spot on! A server that's ready with a recommendation when asked & has an opinion is top notch in my book :) The Texas Rose drink is just pure deliciousness. Y'all have to try one -- or two!! And that frozen jack and Coke mmmm ..was delicious! We will definitely be back!

Great service, but the kitchen is still finding its footing!? My wife and I dropped into the new Willie's Grill and Icehouse in Leander for an early dinner today. Since I joined the rewards club, we kicked things off with a free app: the onion rings. They were massive, well-seasoned, and came with a solid ranch, but unfortunately, they missed the mark on texture. They arrived pretty limp and felt a bit undercooked rather than having that satisfying crunch you want from a breaded ring. For the main event, my wife went with the chicken tenders. They were "okay," but suffered from the same lack of crispiness as the appetizer. On the flip side, my cornmeal-breaded catfish was the star of the table--perfectly fried and delicious. Sadly, the fries served with both meals were a letdown; they were underwhelmed and, frankly, a bit soggy. The saving grace was the excellent table service. Our server was incredibly attentive, prompt, and kept the experience smooth. Since they've only been open a few weeks, we're chalking this up to "opening jitters" and a kitchen still getting its rhythm. We'll definitely give them another shot in a month or so once they've had time to perfect the fry station. Check out my photos for a closer look!

Pro tip: It's not directly on Walton Way; it's on the side of the building. Wilson, one of the owners, kindly guided me to the entrance when my GPS said I had arrived, but I still couldn't see the restaurant. Please note that there is indoor and outdoor dining along with free parking. Fogonero is best known for its empanadas, arepas, and other traditional Venezuelan specialties. While all of those sounded tempting, I was craving one food specifically...plantains. I have a real weakness for sweet fried plantains, and lately they have become my ultimate "go-to" comfort food. Fogonero's plantains hit the spot. They were perfectly sweet, moist, and enjoyable to eat. The restaurant is a whole vibe. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by a striking mural of the Venezuelan flag painted in vibrant colors across the wall. It's eye-catching, inviting, and instantly sets the tone for the experience. Alfred welcomed me with a warm smile and immediately recognized that I was there to pick up an order. He had everything packed and ready to go, making the process quick and seamless. His friendly, personable demeanor made a great first impression. I'm looking forward to returning and exploring more of the menu once my mouth is back in eating condition.

It's past crawfish season, so we didn't do any of the signature boils. But it's a broad menu with Viet/Thai curries, fried rice, pasta, and other special dishes. A couple of my friends went with the Cajun fried rice with shrimp and liked it. The server was attentive and responsive and kept things moving. He calls everyone "boss", endearing though trite. We came on a friday night around 6:45 pm and ordered their garlic parmesan fries, a margarita, and 3 lbs of happy style sauce crawfish mild that came with 1 potato and 1 corn. Total came out to be $65 with tip. There were no tables available, as the restaurant is quite small, so we were offered to sit at the bar. -The parmesan garlic fries came with the garlic on the side in a little container containing mostly oil and garlic crunches on the bottom. The flavor was good, but it was too oily. I wish they poured the garlic onto the fries vs having us dip it in the oil. Not sure how much these were, as the price wasn't on the menu I took snapshots of. -The margarita was on the smaller side, but my husband enjoyed it. $8 -3lbs crawfish was ehhh. It was definitely frozen so it was harder to peel and honestly, nothing special, which was disappointing. It was also kinda mushy?? which is definitely a first.. The only thing I liked was the happy style sauce. We ordered mild, but can definitely go hotter since the mild wasn't spicy at all. Portions were kinda small, tbh and so we left unsatisfied. The crawfish came out to be $41 with tax, which was kinda expensive.. esp being frozen. Thoughts: -very tiny restaurant with only 8 tables, including 1 large table for 6-7 people -you can't order 1 or 2 lbs of crawfish, the minimum is 3 lbs which I feel is a bit odd.. -kinda expensive with the 3lbs crawfish esp it being frozen cuz you can get fresh crawfish for less than what they're charging at other places Honestly, pretty disappointed with what we ordered. Guess we'll have to keep looking for other seafood boils. I saw that they had crawfish etouffee, which I am looking forward to trying next time I come. Also, come earlier if you want to get a table. **It's kinda a weird setup. Although there are tables, you actually order first at the front and then you sit. There are no table service just fyi!

The website mentioned reservations but accepting walk-ins also; my wife made a reservation for 8 at 7:40p, and that turned out well, as the couple in front of us hadn't done so & went out front to wait. We had a very attentive waitress, & sat on a raised stage by the window which was cool, but note: tall chairs there maybe not great for short legs. When she poured our water we didn't have to request, she left the carafe, which I supposed was a labor saving idea --until she came back repeatedly and refilled our glasses with it! It aided our date night that the two flat screens had artworks displayed not a basketball game or Chive videos of folks getting injured for 15 seconds of fame. Menu is in the upper middle price range for us but we did an easy work-around to get some upscale food, anyway:: We ordered a bowl of gumbo from the appetizer list, with two spoons; (yeah, been married 41 years)... Arrived perfect temp, not to hot to dig right in. The 6 crab claws broken to expose the meat were a nice touch we've never seen; we try everyone's gumbo: prolly the best we've had recently if ever. Continuing that theme, we shared the 14 oz Japanese style (name recipes me) new horn strip, truly too much for one normal appetite: the already flavorful tender steak was helped even more by a unique brown sauce with capers: and my Dad said a good steak doesn't NEED any help. Well, this steak was so good let's just say "the sauce was gravy." We like Brussels sprouts broiled; so my wife asked when ordering the steak, which comes with creamed sprouts, if they could be broiled: instead our waitress asked the chefs who actually flash fried them with salt and pepper, perfectly, with crunchy outer leaves & al dent inside. My wife ordered a 14.00 glass of Pinot noir; the cool wine glass was a generous size --and filled generously. We like the pretentious wine descriptions from the backs of bottles; bartender let us take a photo of the label but suggested the "vivino" app to get the lowdown on any wine. Finished off sharing the bread pudding with rum soaked yellow raisins, great flavor without excess sweetness, and thanked our waitress Katy.
