This place is wonderful! It's tucked away in Santa Monica, and the area is so peaceful. It's on the pricier side, but definitely worth it. For every massage, they do a foot soak and it feels awesome. I just went for my second deep tissue massage yesterday and was thrilled to see it was as good as the first! Grace is not only a talented masseuse, she's a warm, welcoming person and the importance of that in my view, can't be understated. Massage is an intimate thing after all - and who wants to get a massage from someone who makes the experience uncomfortable? Grace was recommended to me by Holly, another spectacular therapist. (she isn't there all the time - only as a fill-in) Anyway, I love the atmosphere here, the tea and pre-massage foot soak in the pretty courtyard, the facilities made from a converted house, the friendliness of the people at reception. I imagine parking could be a problem sometimes, since the spa's right on busy Santa Monica Blvd, but I've been lucky both times and easily found a meter. Grace was amazing! She introduced me to parts of my body that I didn't know existed! Seriously, she was so thorough with my body and working through all the knots. She really pays attention to the problem areas and shows how everything is connected. I felt so good after I cried a little! Happy tears, of course. The staff was also very friendly. I can't remember the young woman at the beginning, she was new, but had awesome energy. When I left, Chris met me with a huge smile and a piece of chocolate. The massage is very good. And when I say very good, I mean VERY good. My masseuse was hitting all the right spots, I don't know how he does it. The service is really great. Very very good. Staff there are very friendly. But bear in mind, the spa is limited to just the massage. No sauna, no hot rooms, no jacuzzi etc etc. so I would suggest only go if you're sure you don't want none of that. Another criticism is that the bed I was on was pretty old. Loved my experience here at Willow Spa. My colleagues gave me a gift certificate for Christmas. I wasn't able to use it until January, but Willow Spa worked with me on the expiration and all was good. The spa is so quiet in its outward appearance you have probably driven buy it a zillion times and not noticed it; I know I had. My colleagues searched Yelp for a unique and special spa that they thought I would enjoy and they were right when they picked Willow Spa. I enjoyed my 3+ hour stay, probably more like 4 - very much. When you arrive, you will need to park on the street. As my treatments were going to exceed any timed parking available, I wish I had Uber'd. I was lucky and didn't get a ticket even though I was way over the time limit. The spa is behind some beautiful gates in a little house. You enter through the front to check in and then are guided through the courtyard to a changing room in courtyard. The changing room has lockers, showers, etc., but is spa like, not gym like in anyway. You change into your little outfit, which is incredibly comfortable by the way and they sell them upfront - then you have a relaxing rest on the courtyard couch or chairs. You are brought tea and water to enjoy while you wait. Then I had a lovely foot bath and headed off to my treatments. I selected a facial, body scrub and massage. I spa a lot and have never had the scrub and massage done simultaneously, but I have got to tell you I absolutely loved it; it is the ideal situation. Sometimes a long massage or long scrub can be taxing - first world problems I know! - but what Anthony did was to scrub one area and then massage it, then move to the next area and repeat. It was so wonderful to allow each part of your body to have it's treatment and then relax. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. i think it was 2 hours or so. Anthony is a fantastic masseur and his technique is very skilled. I have had a lot of massages and this was in no way average. Willow is not outrageous in price, but you get what you pay for and I wouldn't mind paying a premium for treatments like I received from Anthony. I was a total zombie when he finished and, trust me, I was so stressed from work that I didn't think anything would help, but my treatments at Willow did - thanks Anthony! My sister saw a Travelzoo deal for enzyme baths at Willow Spa and thought it would make for a fun Sunday. Willow spa is cute and hidden on busy Santa Monica Blvd. You're taken to the back to change in the locker room and put on a black tie up shirt and some very loose colored cotton pants that you have to tie around a few times to keep up. Then a foot massage on the back patio. Yuki was my masseuse for the day and she was great. Yuki used a delicious smelling moisturizing soy candle to rub down my feet. While she massaged my feet and made me feel like pudding, I sipped some ginger tea and a very interesting enzyme concoction that was syrupy thick and spicy, sweet, and all the other tastes of the rainbow. After the foot rub it was time to get dirty. Yuki led me to a dark room adjacent to the back patio where there were two large cement tubs filled with smelly enzymes. They looked like large dirt baths. Yuki helped me in and buried me to my neck. Then came the waiting game. 20 minutes with Yuki coming back every 5 minutes to check on me, wipe the sweat off my forehead, and feed me water through a straw. The first 10 minutes were easy peasy. But the last ten taught me how a thanksgiving turkey must feel while roasting in a convection oven. When the 20 minutes are up Yuki brushed me off, led me to a shower, and massaged me after I washed up. The enzyme bath was by far the most interesting spa experience I've ever had and I felt amazingly relaxed after. It's not for everyone. It is interesting. It makes for a great story. Dear readers, this is what you should expect: sweet beach bungalow atmosphere mixed with island getaway feel. You will feel like you've stepped into someone else's Tahitian vacation once you sit in the patio and have your feet washed and massaged before your treatment. The therapist I had was incredibly nice and struck me as very knowledgeable about the treatments I was receiving and made me feel so at ease and relaxed from the very beginning. I had the "Linger" Indonesia - Damai "Tranquility" treatment which included a massage and a body scrub treatment, and talk about luxury! I was ringing with rejuvination once I stepped out of the spa and back into the real world. Here's my most helpful tip for this experience: find parking on the residential streets behind Willow Spa. Massages are a luxury I have yet to be able to afford on a consistent basis. It's also incredibly hard to find a good masseuse (or masseur). Some the pressure is too much, too little, the movement is weird, the room smells weird, not enough oil, I don't know. Paying this much money for a bad experience is literally the worst. Thankfully, the experience at Willow Spa is amazing. You're given these lounge clothes (which I'd totally buy if my idea of "lounging around my apartment" wasn't "underwear" because it's too goddamn hot to have anything else on), and then you sit in their little garden area where your masseuse massages your feet in a wooden barrel filled with rose petals while you sip Happy Tea, and any tension or stress you may have had walking into this experience sorta becomes not important anymore, and you're just sitting there smiling. Then she leads you into the massage room where you lay on what I'm convinced is the MOST comfortable bedding in the world, as you sink deeper and deeper under the smooth, comforting movement of her hands kneading out all the knots in your body. Then at one point you will twitch on accident because it feels too good, and scares your masseuse. Of course by now it's a party so you just keep twitching, and that's awkward, and I really want that happy tea again, oh god please stop noticing my twitching. AMAZING. Took my man friend here for a couples Thai massage for his birthday. First, this place is seriously such a tranquil sanctuary - it really makes you feel like you're in Asia. Second, the staff is SO friendly and helpful. From the receptionist to the masseuses, everyone was awesome. They gave us complimentary food scrubs before our massages while we drank this delicious ginger drink (that you can buy boxes of on your way out). Last, the massages were out of this world good. We each had the table Thai massage (they also offer mat Thai massages), which is a combo of deep tissue and Thai. Spas are all about the property. Despite its efforts, Willow Spa is still a bungalow on a thoroughfare (Santa Monica Blvd.). I thoroughly enjoyed the foot massage in the garden area before I was escorted into my treatment room. But the treatment itself was underwhelming. I got the 60-minute massage plus reflexology. The room wasn't simply cramped but so blatantly a bungalow-bedroom-turned-massage-room. Sound traveled through its walls very easily. I heard the Big Blue Bus go by many times during my treatment. The linens were rough as sand paper. As were the hands of my massage therapist who was very nice and courteous but fact remains, his hands were too rough not to affect my experience. The shower room felt very improvised like an upgraded camp shower. I notice every detail and nothing turns me off more than to see an established business deck itself out with IKEA furnishings like Willow Spa does in its shower room. I know I'm not paying top dollar for this place but still, I expected more. read more

I'll walk through my whole experience, but the overall gist is: I had a relaxing massage at an affordable price, and was pleasantly surprised by all the extras thrown at me during the experience. Well worth a weekday afternoon excursion. First of all, a shout out to the receptionists of the world. I don't remember his name, but when I called to make an appointment, the receptionist was helpful and kind. I had to reschedule once and it wasn't a problem (they have a 48 hour cancellation policy, I believe). I only bring this up because we've all had that experience of scheduling and arriving at a place for the sole purpose of relaxing only to be met with a combative receptionist who sets the wrong mood. Not the case here. I changed in their admittedly underwhelming changing room, equipped with a few lockers, a bare shower, and a bathroom. They provide ill-fitting pants and a robe-like shirt. Not ideal, but they get the job done. From there, everything is fantastic. They have a small area in the back where you sit and relax while waiting. They then bring you tea (which was delicious) and give you a foot and leg massage (which was free of charge and perhaps the best part of the afternoon). And then your massage therapist brings you to a room and you do the whole massage thing. My massage was great. I pointed out some trouble spots, she worked on them, helped me relax, so on and so forth. The price is reasonable - not $$$, like the reviews indicate. Is it a cheap, shady massage place? No. Is it pricy like the high end places, the hotels, and the like? No. It's right in between. You don't feel like you lost a limb after paying the bill, and you feel like you got your money's worth and then some. Highly recommend. read more

Booked a citrus body treatment via travelzoo promotion. I usually prefer spas where I can make an event of it and hang out in the steam room before and after but it was too good of a deal to pass up. They start by having you change into some lounge clothes - personally the shirt was annoying to deal with, would have preferred something that was pull over. Then we enjoyed our "free" chocolate and ginger drink while getting a foot soak. After our foot soak we had an hour massage and salt scrub. I was a little disappointed that the salt scrub was only on my arms - it didn't specify on the website, in fact the website made it sound like our whole body would be scrubbed. We then finished off with another "free" chocolate. Overall it was a nice experience but I wouldn't have paid full price for it. I came here on a Travelzoo deal. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but I was open to try something new. When you get there, you go change into some provide lounge wear. Then you go sit in the garden and they give you some enzymes to drink. Then came a foot/leg massage. After the foot/leg massage is the enzyme bath. The enzyme bath isn't really a bath. It was more like burying your whole body in hot dirt. It was not actual dirt; it was enzymes and the enzymes generate heat. The enzyme bath was 20 minutes, they check up on you every 5 minutes and provide some water. After 20 minutes, you get out and shower off the enzymes. The last part was a thai massage. My husband and I have been looking for a local place where we can both be happy with a couple's massage. We found our team at Willow Spa! Referred here by a friend, we are very happy and now come regularly to this sweet little spa in the city. This is by no means the fancy spa like at a high-end hotel. If you're looking for something much nicer than one of those massage places where it feels like you're in a closet, check this out. It's clearly a renovated house and there's a little zen garden in the back. They start off with an enzyme foot massage in the garden, and then you go to your massage room. We now go regularly to see Anthony and Uki who really know what a deep tissue massage is! I had to dial Anthony back from a 10 on pressure to an 8 and now it's perfect. My husband is thrilled with Uki and he also likes very firm pressure. We've had massages at some of the nicest resort spas around, and quite frankly, I prefer these two over any other massage therapist. I had a lovely massage therapist on a visit when we couldn't get Anthony and Uki (our first one to Willow Spa) and she was great if you like less deep tissue pressure and super relaxation. Her name is Nouri (rhymes with Missouri). Again, nothing over the top fancy, but a lovely location, quiet, relaxing, and the people here are welcoming and friendly. read more

The entire place needs an overhaul, especially the outside waiting patio and the restrooms (a nice painting job overall, a complete gut job in the patio area, and also washing the dirty white curtains), the restroom/locker area is way to small with no door for the toilet just a curtain-really? Ridiculous! Dirty cups left on counter, the entire experience was not at all an oasis spa like peaceful, and relaxing place. FACIAL: I received the Willow Balance Facial, that is not what I wanted (I specifically told her my skin problems but she insisted on something less then what I really know I need, my fault for not insisting back don't know why I let her push me to get what she thought was best when I know what's better-I have gone to some of the best spas and I know what works for me). She included the "micro-current" in which she only did for about 3 minutes or less and it was NOT a micro-current machine (micro-current is a machine that does a face-lift w/o having to do botox or fillers), instead she used a small hand-held toy-like, cheap device, not a real micro-current machine (they also sell the hand-held device to customer for about $300.00-don't waste your money-it is not micro-current, it just massages the skin which is fine but it does NOT lift sagging skin like a micro-current machine properly does). CHECK-OUT: Went to pay for facial and purchase products and I couldn't take 1 of the products home because they only had one left and he couldn't sell me the last one in stock (supposedly computer didn't let him sell it to me, very ridiculous-so they rather not make that last sale-very very ridiculous). OVERALL: Will not be returning. Prices should be at least 50% less for the less-than relaxing, sub-par spa experience. read more

It was a surprise and it truly was for this Southern California native. I have never been here And I can assure you I will go back. It's hidden behind a beautiful fence and U would never know its there unless someone tells you. They give you the most comfortable little outfits of 100% cotton to put on and then U wait in a very tranquil pretty area for whatever treatment your getting. It starts with a foot soak that has roses and fruit in it and they do a nice foot massage then your off to your service. Our couples massage was insane and yes I was snoring. My husband Gareth and I had a couples massage last week and it was really great. They start the treatment in the outdoor area with a foot massage. They bring out these wooden buckets with warm water and rose petals in them for a foot soak--it's a really nice touch. It's also a good opportunity to get to get to know your practitioner and tell them where you carry stress, what kind of pressure you like, etc. Gareth was massaged by Alex and I was massaged by Dylan. Gareth really enjoyed his massage and said that Alex really knows her stuff, but the telltale moment came the next morning when Gareth woke up and said "I think Alex fixed me! All my kinks are gone." That doesn't usually happen for him so he was pretty happy about it. Dylan was really great too. He gets IN there, so if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen! Just kidding...if it's too much, he backs off right when you tell him--which was only in two tender spots for me. But Dylan helped my body release a lot of tension and stress that I had been hanging onto for a while. And if you start to cry, he'll get a tissue for you. (Not that I did or anything...oh, whatever!) Speaking as a Reiki practitioner I can tell you that his energy is very good and that he really cares. All in all, we had a great time. I had a spa treatment several years ago that was underwhelming. Without my permission, they added me to their monthly email list. For a while, the emails were irregular and I just deleted them. As the mails became more frequent, I tried to unsubscribe. The unsubscribe link on the mail never works, so I wind up calling. For six months, SIX MONTHS!, I was told I'd be removed. Never happened. So not only was I getting b.s.'d by whoever answered the phone, but for four months, I asked to have a manager call me back and not once did it happen. Including today. I would strongly recommend that you pay attention when they are explaining the Enzyme bath process as the entire thing is extreme but absolutely amazing. I actually only made it 15 minutes - my mum who I was concerned about made it the full 20! If we were to give any critique at all it would be that there seemed to a little inconsistency in the therapists. One of our therapists went above and beyond and seemed to truly love what she was doing....the other...not quite as much. We would still highly recommend the Willow Spa. Blissful, a mind vacation!!! I could wipe my smile off my face as we begin the spa!!! I surprised my husband with an aroma therapy couples massage and foot scrub and it was the best money spent! We took the first appt. on a Saturday, there was just one another lady in the common space where we enjoyed our foot scrub in a bail with flowers and citrus, surrounded by lush gardens, natural light, and tea. Everything was so cozy, clean and thoughtful. Good vibes all around. I loved the attention we received and the details. I was the first to come out in my lounge clothes from the lady's room and naturally I was going to peep if my husband had come out too but the wellness tech let me know as soon as I stepped out that my husband would be out soon and invited me to have a seat in the "throne" (LOL)...so I relaxed. I don't need the fancy fluff of a Burke Williams. The back patio area is transformed into a beautiful sanctuary. You really feel like you are out of the city. Everything here is done well and is well thought out, but also very simple. I love that they start out with a nice foot massage - perfect way to start to unwind. The therapists here really know what they are doing. The only place I would trust for a pregnancy massage. Yuki is amazing - she knows exactly to how respond to your body. I've been to Willow Spa twice, and both times it was superb. It's a bit hard to find, mostly because you would never expect a spa to exist in this little house. Once you enter the waiting area, you're instantly transported into a lovely spa environment in the midst of the urban neighborhood. On my first visit, a friend treated me to a Japanese Enzyme Bath. This totally unique experience involves lying in a tub, covered in a substance similar to a fine mulch, in a pleasant dimmed room shrouded in curtains. The "mulch" is hot, so it's a little like a sauna. After spending some time relaxing with an attendant bringing lemon water periodically, you're brushed off and you proceed to a mini-thai massage. The therapists were attentive and skilled. It was great! On my more recent visit, I had a "zen-tastic" massage by Grace. It was the best massage ever. It started with my massage therapist meeting me in the outdoor waiting area with a grapefruit-rose footbath and a cup of tea. We moved into a pleasant little massage room, and she expertly mixed Swedish, Thai, and deep tissue massage. I left feeling like a million bucks and will definitely go back. Overall, I think the prices are reasonable for the level of service you receive. It's better than the other high-end spas I have visted in Los Angeles at the same price. I absolutely love Willow Spa, I go there once or twice a year with my mother. Together we either both get massages at the same time, or one of us gets a massage and the other gets a facial, and the third is sometimes we get two treatments in a day (I believe on Tuesdays you get a discount for booking two treatments). The location is great because the space really transforms and takes you away from the city streets. The staff is very friendly and coordinated, and they make the experience that much more pleasurable. There are lockers and bathroom/showers where you can leave your belongings (the lockers all have locks that you keep during your treatment). Once you've changed out of your day-to-day clothes and into something more comfortable (i.e. a shirt and pants provided for you), you can lounge outside in the rain-proof patio with heat lamps for the chillier days and nights. The couches are abundant with pillows and blankets, and the twinkle lights pull together the patio for a pleasant atmosphere. The staff member who is treating you brings you a cup of tea and a nice foot soak. All treatments include this soak and a foot massage before you go inside. I feel like this is a great way to unwind before you really unwind, it's like a two-step process of relaxation. I have never had a bad massage or facial here. They use all organic and natural ingredient-based products, so what's to complain about! I'm sure you can get a much better deal on a massage or a facial elsewhere, but when you're paying the price you're paying, you're paying for a lot more than a stale room with a candle. I've been here an few times now and had a few treatments. I really enjoyed all the treatments but there's something missing here that would not allow me to give it 5. It's not as clean or as tranquil as it looks. Some of massage therapists disappear for longer than they should when going to get stuff. Came here for couple massage and I LOVED getting massage from Joe. He was very patient, carefully massage my stiff rock hard shoulders but didn't leave me aches or bad soars next day. I usually don't like to get shoulders massage because I've been experiencing bad headaches/soars and sometime feel sick, but not from Joe! Highly recommended to book with him. However, the reason of 3 stars was my boyfriend's massage woman, believe she was Japanese but he doesn't remember her name, wasn't good as what he paid for. Understand she was petite woman so gotta move bigger and more toads age his body, but she loves super fast, didn't seem taking her time to massage his body. Almost gives us she's in rush to do her job, and I wasn't impressed how she treated him. She wasn't bad but not great and wish he was satisfied of his spa experience. read more
