OMG!! This hidden gem is a real finder's keepers. I picked these place, because of the online pictures. Very nice pew seats and beautiful stained glass windows. Which was operated by a church at one point. Once there, they did not disappoint. The atmosphere calm and inviting. Outdoor seating is an option as well. Soft spoken young ladies, there to assist. Great interaction, knew the menu and off subject conversation wasn't a thing of the past here. Oh! I haven't gotten to the food. Many options to choose from. Lunch and dinner options. From roast, tenderloin, and seafood. my husband and I started with mouth watering fried jalapeño grits. Please do yourself a favor and have some. Fried calamari with peppers were top tier. I chose the fried seafood platter which you can have grilled as well. It came with three pieces of fish, four fried scallops amazing didn't know that was a thing. Six shrimp, 8 jalapeño hush puppies and fries. My husband had seafood enchiladas! I had to try. The best creamy well put together enchiladas I've ever had. Finished our meal with a breading pudding for dessert. Oh guys and girls the best thing to do is get yourself there. Food, service and ambiance were all great!! Food: They give you a little complimentary shrimp spread. Our server said it's a hit or miss with guests and I can see that. It was okay but I'll be alright without it. Now the La Bomba appetizer, 6/5!!! I would go back for just that. Fried stuffed jalapeño with cheese and shrimp, served with onion rings. It was so good!! For entree I had fried fish and grilled shrimp, spinach and mashed potatoes for sides. Everything was seasoned well and cooked perfectly. My husband had cedar plank salmon with same sides. The only disappointment was menu states it comes with shrimp skewer, but it actually came with 3 little salad shrimp. Wilson margarita was perfectly made. We've been to Wilson's a few times now. The inside of the renovated church is of course amazing and beautiful. The menu is okay, but I have yet to find a plate that is WOW. My husband really likes the pecan-crusted fish and gets it every time. I've tried their seafood pasta dishes and fried sampler. My problem is that their shrimp is teeny tiny and seems frozen (at least in the pasta dishes). The fried seafood platters are decent portions. We love the shrimp dip with crackers they serve before taking your order. Overall, Wilson's is a great place to scratch a seafood itch in Midlothian, TX but don't expect gulf shrimp or an elevated seafood experience. read more

Wilson's was extremely nice on the inside and had a nice outdoor area. The food on the other hand was pretty mediocre. The calamari was very low effort. The salmon wasn't bad, but wasn't anything crazy either. The chicken was paper thin. The bread pudding was dense and actually pretty good. When we came in and tried to order a drink they told us the bar was closed. Fifteen minutes later these people at the bar are ordering drinks and shot after shot. We ordered stuffed fish and a steamed crab with shrimp. Both were under seasoned and the hush puppies were undercooked. A marvelous menu of Cajun-inspired seafood dishes (the owner, Shawn Wilson, told us about his dad's restaurant in New Orleans), includes decadent homemade desserts-the praline cheesecake oh my! and Texas-size steaks and veggies so fresh and served with gracious style! The service was superior, everything cooked to perfection! The charming church building brought over from Italy, Texas is absolutely precious! Clean and charming! Our family came to Wilson's Seafood on a busy Friday night, but only had a 15 minute wait. First time to visit. Wilson's Seafood is located in the new Founders Row development by the post office near downtown. This restaurant is the new location of David's Seafood that was in Cedar Hill. McKenzi was our server and she knocked it out of the park. Neither our tea nor our water glasses ever went dry. The recipes are from the old restaurant and are every bit as good as before. I had the seafood Cobb salad with a vinaigrette and my wife had her old favorite, the stuffed fish. Both were perfect - seriously, just perfect. We had a crème brûlée for dessert and it was just as good as we remembered it. Wilson's Seafood will probably become our new date night spot. First impression is the building. It's a beautifully restored church it has a large patio but it's July, so that's not happening today. As I walk in IT IS LOUD. It's not the place to go for a quiet meal and conversation. Immediately seated, and wasn't long until my server came to take my drink order. Unfortunately they do NOT have a cocktail menu. They have a nice bar, and being the new place in town could establish a signature cocktail. But alas. Ordered the Mahi grilled. Was told it was fresh. It was not suggested to have an app or salad. A casual dining experience in an old church beautifully renovated. The ambiance creates a more upscale feeling than casual dining. I had the halibut with blue cheese mashed potatoes, and broccolini. My husband had the stuffed fish with rice pilaf and a mix of zucchini, squash, and carrots (I think). Neither one of us were completely satisfied with our meals.
