Nothing I've had here competes with their premium burgers, though I've also had a few good salads. Winberie's is a very cute restaurant! It actually is the Summit Opera House turned into a restaurant and is really great inside and out. My friend and I came around 1 on a Thursday and it was not crowded. We sat outside, originally on a table with no umbrella. It started drizzling and our server immediately ran out and moved all of our food and drinks to a different table with an umbrella, which was so nice of him! The staff is very friendly. I got the Honey Mustard Chicken Sandwich with avocado. I thought the chicken was a little dry and lacked some flavor but, was pretty good overall! My sandwich with avocado was $15. Sandwiches are $13 and up. There is street parking and a parking garage near by. You can also park on Norwood Ave for free 2 hour parking. I would definitely go here again! read more

Came here with work colleagues to grab and dinner and drinks and left more than content. They got their before I did, but I was greeted promptly at the door and they took my order immediately so I wasn't left eating by myself later. My original order was more of a shrimp and rice stir fry, but they were more than happy to make accommodations when I just asked for extra veggies due to my gluten intolerance. My dish was good, though flavoring was a bit to sweet and a tad bit salt heavy. For dessert, we all shared the fondue which was delicious would definitely recommend for sharing, if not by yourself.. if you're capable of handling all those sweets! The general atmosphere is very mellow and relaxed.. it's almost a wonky toss up between a diner/bar vibe. Dimly lit, good music and plenty of space for bigger parties if need be. My friend and I were very excited to try the brunch here. We arrived and requested to sit outside. The host led us to a table and we sat for about 15 minutes.. no one came to our table as we watched 2 waiters go back and forth to other tables. My friend went inside to talk to the host and he said that he would have someone out right away. Another 5 minutes past and still no one so we just left. It was not a busy day, not alot of tables outside. Meanwhile we noticed another table who was sat after us was waited on. Let me first preface this review by saying that they serve my unparalleled favorite black bean burger, and by giving a thumbs up to tonight's entrees. Two minor incidents did make the experience less than stellar. Being the day after blizzard Stella, diners were somewhat sparse. Upon entering I noticed it was Happy Hour until 6:30. Yay!! We were seated in a booth adjoining the bar. Checking my phone I saw that it was 6:30 on the nose. Yay!! As the waiter gave us menus, I remarked that it looks like we're just in time for Happy Hour. He walked away to "check" and returned five minutes later to take our order, reporting that Happy Hour was over. Oh well. Finding a rather piquant taste and smell to the butter served with the complimentary bread, I asked whether something "special" had been added; cheese maybe? The waiter responded that, no, nothing is added. I asked him to smell of it. He declined. Ahhh... the butter was likely rancid. I asked him to please let the kitchen know. My husband and I have lived in Summit for a couple of years, love the town and atmosphere. However we want to like Winberie's but their food is subpar which you would think would have improved after their soft re-opening.... don't have some beers they claim to have, some of the staff is not friendly and seem preoccupied with talking to each other or on their phones. My husband and I usually keep going because they have happy hour specials on basic beer and drinks, however every time we walk away with a different problem with the place and seems to get worse. My husband thought he left his wallet there so he called and the male host said the manager told him to say he was too busy to look in the safe where they keep valuables and to call back in an hour when they open. That was the last straw for us a clear representation of what his customers mean to him. read more

Winberies has become our favorite family restaurant. I previously posted about their awesome Sat. Night prime rib special, but, truth be told, all of their food is delish. Especially when our group of picky eaters show up and there is literally something for everyone! Also worth mentioning is the awesome service we have received from everyone we have encountered on our many visits. I've been going here with my wife and daughter for years but after today I couldn't go back. We had a reservation for four and arrived on time, when we walked in the place was no more than 20% full, we were shocked because we've gone on previous Mother's Days and it was packed. The reason I start with this is we were in there over an hr and when we left there were plenty of available tables. Upon our arrival a elderly couple tried to come in and were turned away. My wife and daughter looked so sad watching that. Now, the brunch itself was decent, biggest problem, many of the items that weren't hot were cut down to bite size portions, and I'm talking so small it was comical but ok. I thought it would be a lot to figure four people at say $40 a head plus tax and tip seems right, when I got the check it was $306 tip not included and one person ordered one drink. I'll pay $300-400 for a quality meal but the 5 yr old portions with these prices were the topic of conversation and I guess gave us a shake your head laugh or two, still pisses me off the older couple were turned away in a restaurant that wouldn't be half full an hr later. read more

Atmosphere is very TGIFridays. Nothing special. Waiter comes to our table and introduces himself as "Steve." Takes our appetizer and drink orders and disappears. We see him behind the bar but another waiter comes over. We ask him, "What happened to Steve?" He angrily says, "He's busy!" Then he asks us to place our orders by saying, "So what are we doing here?" He was a total jackass. We were kind of WTF, at this point, and then later Steve returns like nothing unusual happened. The appetizer of calamari came and was way too small. We ordered another and they told us they might be out of it and then delivered another order to the table like they were doing us a favor and told us it was the last order. Came here tonight to meet up with some old college chums. Tuesday night, wasn't too busy, got some seating outside on a beautiful night without any wait. I showed up early without my party (of 6) and no problem sitting me without the rest of my party. The outside seating area is very nice, on the corner of Springfield and Kent Place, a nice view of the Main Street. The service was, okay. Had to wait a little after we were all here to order food. I wouldn't rave about it. Since there was a group of us, and it was a little after dinner so we just got a few of the appetizers. We got the Irish Nachos, Artichoke Dip, and Hummis. They were all much smaller portions than we thought they would be. The Irish nachos were actually pretty bland for having a bunch of toppings all over them. The artichoke dip was, I'm not sure how to explain it. I guess I had different thoughts, and I was thinking more of a more cheese spinach/artichoke dip. This was artichoke and sour cream. What saved it was the fried pita chips with cheese, tomato, and chives. The hummus was probably he best out of the trio, but there weren't enough things on the table to use up all of it. The first drink I got was a Stella Artois, and it was flat and stale. Switched to Alagash and that was fine. They had an alright beer selection. The girls who got cocktails enjoyed them. read more

We went early on a Saturday night. It wasn't too busy and they were able to accommodate 6 of us without a wait. We decided to get a few apps to split amongst the table. Pita chips w/artichoke dip (decent), fried mozzarella (very good but not big portion size), dynamite sticks (good but oily) and Irish Nachos (anything with bacon on it makes it a whole lot better!). For a meal I had the Kobe Beef Burger. It was good but there was something different I couldn't place my taste buds on. It was a unique flavor and I am not sure if I was keen on it. I did try some of the cajun mac and cheese which was good as well. The service was attentive but not overwhelming. Overall a good crowd as the night progressed. Winberie's in Summit is a solid spot for a casual lunch or dinner on-the-go... It's location is really key - SMACKEY-DAB in the middle of Summit's awesome downtown. The waitress we had was really friendly and attentive. We swung by for a quick lunch on a weekend, and it wasn't busy at all. They whipped up some decent cocktails - not MIND-BLOWING, but a-ok. The food was also decent. Note to anyone who loves a chicken caesar salad: they do NOT use an oil-based dressing. It's the anchovie-based, fishier-tasting dressing. HUGE let-down for me, honestly... Winberies is in the old Summit Opera House. Its located where Springfield Avenue meets Kent Place. Like most of Summit, street parking can be a challenge, but there is a parking garage not too far away. The food here is good, but not great. A little pricey for what you get, but its Summit. The service has always been attentive and friendly. They have several tables outdoors, which are great for the nice weather! The Office is being renovated, so they are busier than usual. Even so, I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes to be seated. read more

Bar food is very tasty and the appetizers are delicious. However, do not come here if you're on a diet, as there aren't too many healthy options. They have a nice selection of burgers and beers, which is nice especially during football season (yes, there are TVs). Summit has some decent restaurants, but I would say this is the best place in town for a burger and a beer. Cons: The service...is...very...slow. Unfortunately, I think they're understaffed, which is management's fault. Some menu items are needlessly overpriced. I'll be back for sure. read more

I really like this place, but it is hard to explain why. it almost has a chain restaurnt feel (actually it might be one, but I have never seen another so i am assuming it is a stand alone) they have good, but expensive drinks and decent bar area to sit it. they also have pretty nice outside seating, although it is at the end of busy street in summit so there is not a lot of foot traffic for people watching but a lot of car traffic. The food has always been great when I have went. Bread that sandwhiches are served on is usually fresh, and the quality of the ingredients seems to be high quality. I recomend the Sam Adams fondue as an app, it is delicious and good to share. it comes with bread and sliced green apples. Also, my favorite thing on the menu is Pita Chips. the only problem with them is that they are SOOOOO filling. For dinner I have had a lot of thing and they are all really good. Last time I was there I had a honey mustard chicken sandwhich and it was great. Very fresh grilled chicken that was not even a little dry, cooked perfect. obviously this is not some fancy restaurant, but instead of going to Friday or Applebee's, I come here. it is the perfect substitution. they also have good deserts and coffee. it is a great local place to stop in on a week night or late on a friday night read more

I consider myself the king of comfort food evaluations. Everywhere I go, a themed mac and cheese is at the top of my selections. Winberie's may have just earned the greatest mac and cheese concoction ever! The cajun mac and cheese is simply a must try. The meat selection of chicken, sausage, and bacon team up with biggest explosion of spicy cheese sauce known to mankind. There are so many displays of flavor in this dish. The pasta is especially soft and pairs well with the rest of the ingredients. This item screams top of the line comfort food. I really recommend seeking this dish out. Nice relaxed bar vibe, but good for families too. This place tries to differentiate by having better than normal wine and spirit selection + menu items that are a step above similar restaurants. Sigh. The experience had potential that was severely crumbled! My coworker and I went here for lunch and sat outside. Our server started off well, but took a turn toward the useless. We were forgotten for a bit when it came to refills, and had to request bread that was forgotten until we asked someone else. (Meanwhile, all other 8 tables had bread). We also had to ask a different person for drink refills. Upon asking for water, the server used my old iced tea glass rather than getting a new glass? I don't mind the residual, but that wasn't quite the appropriate thing to do. And my 'refill' was not of my original drink. No one checked on our food until toward the end. My coworker's was cold. The manager was quite unprofessional. Didn't acknowledge us, even though she noticed the empty beverage. My coworker had an HQ card that provides discounts for local areas. She explained it and provided it to the server. He asks the manager about it, who ends up standing 3 feet away, watching as he comes back to be messenger pigeon, rather than talking to us herself. Basically, they had no idea what was going on, so my friend had to pull it up online. The manager than came up, without introducing herself , and attempted to grab our check book. My friend had to ask her "are you the manager", and go through the explanation AGAIN. Then, all of a sudden, the manager was aware of a promotion, though she was unsure of how to take care of it. It was an unpleasant experience to get the card back, and quite amusing that a card that's supposed to encourage people to check out new establishments, made the establishment look like an ass. read more

This restaurant is very very nice, big portions, great tasting food, something for everyone. It may be a little pricey but I think the quantity AND quality of the food really makes up for it. I usually sit outside for lunch which is very nice, it is on a street corner but it is pretty quiet. Nice place for drinks & food with friends. I recently had a chicken Cesar salad & I don't really care for salad but this was THE BEST most delicious HUGE salad ever. I could actually eat this one. I've never said "mmm this salad is delicious." But this one made me say that about 4 times while I was eating it. Go check this place out. read more

My boss put me in charge of finding a new place to go for lunch. I checked yelp, and found this place. We went as a party of four. We were seated right away by a very lovely woman. The decor was nice. Very Americanized. It had just finished raining and the view out the window was nice. The menu was full of delicious sounding meals that I wanted to eat, but finally I chose only one. I went the healthy route and got an interesting meal with brown rice, chicken, spinach, and other things. I was expecting a dinky little thing but I was wrong. A large plate filed with delicious stir-fried vegetables on top of very flavorful rice with surprisingly tasty chicken. I was thoroughly impressed. We all greatly enjoyed ourselves and tasked a great deal over lunch. Our waitress was very attentive without being bothersome. Everyone there seemed very nice. The Force was with me when I had dinner here. I just flew in on business and had a great meal and great service here. I see that other Yelpers have had a bad experience, but Winberie's was just right when I went there. All I wanted was a quick dinner salad and the Alsatian Salad was perfect: field greens, chicken, apples, candied walnuts and bleu cheese. I got served within minutes and the chicken was still steaming from the grill. It was delicious. I had two different waiters call on my table, but then I arrived at 8:30 pm. I got my check immediately and was in and out in less than an hour. Winberie's is basically a nice bar (kids can eat there) with TV screens.
