Gotta say, I rather like shopping here. Once you get a feel for the layout of the store, it's easy to navigate. Prices on most products are pretty competitive. And you don't have to buy some ridiculous quantities to get a good deal (like at Costco - I mean, who really needs a six month supply of oatmeal in one shopping trip?)... I'll also add that there's a good variety here. You want mustard? There are easily a dozen different kinds. Want cheese? You can get prepackaged blocks, sliced "name brand" packs, or hit the deli. Want that six month supply of oatmeal after all? You can pick up as many 25lb bags as you can fit into your car. Yep... You want it? They got it. read more

We enjoyed shopping Winco, but with COVID-19, we are working to use all the precautions. Shopped this morning, at 5:40 AM to avoid crowds. Unfortunately, only about 20% of Winco employees and vendors were masked up, leading to more than a few of their morning customers also shopping, unmasked. Since this Winco seems to ignore the governor's COVID-19 requirement to mask up, we will not return. Better to find a grocery store that requires masks on their employees and requires the same of their customers. read more

First time in a WinCo because we don't have these down in SoCal. Prices were amazing and there were a ton of good deals all around. Why the 2 stars then? 1) This location or chain (not sure) doesn't take credit cards; only cash and debit is accepted. In this day and age, who still carries cash? Also, as most people likely know already, you should never be paying with debit cards given the opportunity cost of missed cash back and points from credit cards. It's a major disincentive shopping here because every other competitor accepts credit cards. If WinCo's concerned about the fees, just hike the price of items by a few cents. They certainly have the margin to do so and still be competitive. 2) Crappy customer service at the front. Dude supervising the self-checkout put me on blast and lectured me condescendingly on the no credit card rule in front of everyone, as if I should've known that already. I get that retailers will pretty much hire anybody these days given the labor shortage, but they should really make sure their customer-facing roles are staffed with people with basic social skills. Uncalled-for outbursts like this just leave a bad impression of the brand. So what started out as a really impressive visit nosedived at the end. read more

If you're on a budget WinCo is a great store to shop. I love that, a lot of WinCo brand items are made in USA and that it is employee owned. I'm glad that we are fortunate to have WinCo in this area, I only wish they would open stores in Salinas and san Jose area where some of my family live. This is my favorite WinCo in the Sacramento region. Love the layout and cleanliness of this store. Used to work down the road and always stopped in for lunch because of the amazing selection of prepared meals and or the awesome chicken wraps in the back near the Deli section. I have continued to do my actual grocery shopping at this location since then and have had nothing but consistent amazing service. This location has a tenured staff with many familiar faces you will recognize and always polite and friendly. On top of all of this amazingness, they have Leonardi's Pizza (with quite possibly the best sauce of any pizza joint). The bulk food section is very well stocked and maintained complete with machines to make your own almond/peanut butter. Quick tips for successful WinCo trip. 1) Order pizza right when you walk in and let them know to put it in after 30min (giving time to shop). 2) The main wall (when you walk in) has all of this weekly sale items and most popular items as well. 3) Skip the main cookie aisle and check the bakery for their Oatmeal or Chocolate Chip. WOW! 4) Some toiletries like face wash and cleansing pads might be more expensive than department store (i.e. Wal-get) 5) Once done shopping pick up pizza and get 35 cent Orange soda or Root Beer. 6) Devour slice of pizza in parking lot. The store was really clean. There were lots of items on sale. I found what I came in for, including some stuff I didn't know I needed Haha They have wasabi peas in the bulk items. I love these and always forget they sell them here. The prices are very good and they post what other stores sell the items for. It wasn't busy when I went but it was really early on a Sunday morning. I wish they had winco in the bay. But since I'm visiting family up here I was able to run in. On the plus side it's a 24 hour store as well. The shelves were stocked, produce looked good, I picked up some blackberries. I can't comment on customer service as I didn't interact with any employees. They have self check out, so I opted to use that. read more

They got a little better for a while but just nose-dived into the toilet again. It appears that the manager, cart guy and pizza creep have all perished in a hideous accident of some kind. One of the lanes in the parking lot was more than half blocked by shopping carts because they hadn't been brought in for what appears to be 7 or 8 months. LITERALLY an entire driving lane was blocked. People waited for over 20 minutes to get a slice of pizza because creepy pizza creep was outside smoking something and couldn't have cared less about the rotting pizza, and people waiting. NOT one employee had an answer or concern for either issue. I mentioned both on my way in and neither had been taken care of after I had shopped for over an hour and a half. I asked about the funeral for the manager who must have died because no one would accept a paycheck for the MESS that store has become.. In the past 2 or 3 years,, they have switched suppliers for most of their store brand products and they are TERRIBLE. Bread routinely molds within 3 or 4 days of purchase, peanut butter is not worth buying because after the change, you never know if you will be pouring it or slicing it with a knife into chunks and using a tenderizing hammer on it... Flies in the donut case ALWAYS and bugs on the produce if you can even get to it around the rudely placed racks that the stocking clerks drag out... Corp does NOT care, store level management does NOT care,, WHY should I??? No one will read this review or respond to my requests for funeral info so I can at least send flowers...... read more

I just want to write an update during this pandemic time with COVID19. I see a lot of attitude problems with staff at some of the other chain stores. It doesn't have to be like that. Winco you guys are doing an excellent job. I've never praised your staff however, they are doing a tremendous job right now. They are courteous and very helpful from what I have experienced the last few visits. The store seems to be well stocked and clean as well. Also, the staff appears to be following the current COVID19 guidelines. Thank you for showing human kindness. Winco is a little far from where we live. But you cannot beat the prices that they can offer in the amount of items they have stocked on the shelves. They have a huge selection of cheeses in meat the best value is the bulk grains, spices and candies. They have a lot of fruits and vegetables some that you won't find in regular grocery stores. I do love and appreciate this store very much! As soon as you walk in, there is are the current sale priced items located right up front. I really appreciate that concept. I always know that I'm going to save money on items that I needed to get. On the note of saving- a lot of times you'll see posted throughout the store "comparable prices" and WinCo always has the lowest price. The store is big, it's best to have a plan- or a list, so you're not there for too long. One of the main reasons I love this store is for their bulk options. We get our quinoa, rice, etc... this is where I suggest getting granola and coffee beans. Also! A must is their fresh peanut and almond butter press- this is the MAIN reason I come here. Seriously the best way and most healthy way to buy nut spread products. There are not too many places that offer this. Plus the have fresh honey, agave, olive oils, etc... This place is great for party amounts, bulk at a lower price is always great. The only thing I don't care for as much is I'm not too sold on their bakery section and I don't care for the price/selection of their toilet tree products. I would not purchase that kind of stuff here. But this place is way better than most grocery stores, and the price is wonderful! I suggest it completely over Wal-Mart. read more

First and last time shopping at WinCo today. I was there for less than 10 minutes and saw so many customers not wearing masks. I will say- the employees are not totally responsible for this, it's more because of the general customer base. The people I saw not wearing masks looked like they wanted to start a fight- like they were daring anyone to saying something to them. I feel bad for the employees who are just trying to do their jobs and make a living. Now they also have to worry about getting Covid from some arrogant jerks who don't want to be told what to do. read more

Winco is the playground of grocery stores in my opinion, if that even makes sense. Groceries? Check. Affordable prices? Check. Open 24 hours? Check check check. What more could you possibly want from a grocery store?? In fact, I almost despise this place because of how many late night food runs I make to satisfy my middle of the night junk food cravings... like donuts... or that great candy section they have!!!! Products: winco literally has everything you could possibly want or need out of a grocery store. It's basically the food version of Costco. They cleaning supplies, food, snacks, a deli court, a pizza court (Leonardis! It's so good and they have a cool lunch deal which is a slice of pizza, soda, and churro/breadstick for under 4$). If you have a sweet tooth, you'll fall in love with their candy section which is a bunch of rows with candy barrels where you can select your choice of candy and the specific amount yourself..... sounds perfect right? It is. Organization: The store is really organized (unless you go late at night like I tend to, where they sometimes have boxes scattered to restock items). The store is clearly labeled above the walls high so you can see which section is where such as "fresh meats", "frozen food", and "dairy". Service: All of the workers I have ever encountered and had interactions with have been helpful and friendly. They have self check out for all you eager bees who are impatient like me to wait in lines hehe Parking: I have never had an issue with parking here, because the lot is huge... So unless you come on the night of thanksgiving, you should be fine too. read more

Why don't we have this store in the Bay Area?? If Costo and Walmart had sex this would be their lovechild. Imagine a large store with many many many grocery items and for cheap! They even post their competitors prices to show you how much you're saving. They sell generic and name brand items. I love their bins section! I can buy my spices, nuts, and candy in any amount I want. They also have machines that grind you some fresh fresh peanut butter or almond butter. AWESOME! Up until a July/August winco bakery was amazing. Now, the bakery has had inconsistent hours and quality of fresh baked goods.

Highly dissatisfied!!!!! I've shopped here faithfully every month on the 6th for the last two years . And literally every shopping spree for the last 4 months we've had something wrong with our meat. The first time we bought 11$ of ground beef. Opened it the next day and it smelt like DEATH !!!! the very next day we opened our winco packaged bacon and the middle pieces had large mold patches ! Again tonight I take out ground beef and it's D A R K B R O W N with what looks like to be patches of fresh meat. Is so disgusted and this is a lesson learned to stop crumbling receipts before getting to the door. Survival is hard enough! I won't be seeing you next month winco ! Any new suggestions? read more

Why 4 stars? Pricing & merchandising - 5 stars. With a few exceptions (notions) they lead in low prices. Their merchandising is generally 2nd to none with clean well stocked front faced shelves. Yes, they will have some instances of out-of-stocks but nothing that is serious or persistent. Produce section - 3 stars. They could use help in this area with presentation/appearance. I just don't get that 'FRESH' feel. Employees - 4 stars. They are helpful as needed. The clerks, with a few exceptions, are generally fast & efficient. Cleanliness - 4 stars. They are 'light years' over Walmart & given the heavy customer traffic are superior to high cost provider Folsom Raley's. I like this store & highly recommend them!! read more

Good prices Good selection Poor customer service - I guess the checkers really don't like their jobs. Bad attitudes (kind of like someone suffering from a really bad hangover) the times I have been here. I'm sure they have nice checkers too; I just haven't experienced them yet. Couldn't follow simple instructions. Wanted lime green & PURPLE borders. The woman that did our cake said that she had the correct colors & it would be easy to do. Told her not to write any blocks around the name max. She DIDNT listen. The borders are uneven & look like she moved her hand over some of it & didn't fix it. The cake tasted horrible, so dry & where the picture is was like literal paper. Our guests had to take it off of their cake because they couldn't eat it.I called to see if I could pick up our cake but she told me she didn't even start on it.. but when we spoke it person when we first ordered the cake she said she would start on it in the morning. We couldn't pick it up our cake till 6... The party was the next morning and we had tons to do so that was very inconvenient. They should look to hire a new cake decorator. Tonight was buying myself some alcohol. I know the laws on it. But when I got inline I was met with Justine S. who I'd have to is the worst cashier I've seen. It began with starting in line with 2 6-packs, I picked them up again to go get more grocery's, as I walked away she started yelling where I was going. Once I got back she continued to have a RUDE attitude with me, kept telling me to have my ID out while helping someone else and ignoring the lady she was helping. She then asked for my friend ID and said I couldn't purchase the alcohol because she was underage. Why haven't I heard about this bargain grocery store until now?! The prices are ridiculously cheap, even for name brands! The seafood department is better than any of the local stores! Big produce section with lots of fresh fruits and veggies at a fraction of the price of other grocery stores. Large meat section! Super helpful & friendly staff! 4 stars instead of 5 for only a couple small resons (really I'd give a 4.5 starts if that was an option)....you have to bag your own food & they accept cash or debit only. Also, I wish they had more grass fed beef & USDA Prime meat. Over all, such a great experience! We are so happy we found Winn Co! We are going to be regulars from now-on and we will be literally cutting our monthly grocery bill in half! read more

WinCo mostly seems to be filled with off-brands and a lot of things in bulk quantity, which isn't a bad thing per se but it does limit your options when looking for healthy or recognizable choices. If you aren't a regular here it will take some getting used to when seeking out those brands you know and love. The setup is also atypical of a "normal" grocery store - you're forced to go down an aisle of featured foods and through the produce section to get to the rest of the store. Once I got used to it, I actually liked it. If you ask most health experts the produce section is where you should spend the majority of time and money anyway, and there's is affordable with stock equal in quality to elsewhere. The shelf brands are a mix of familiar names and strange stuff leaning towards lots of hispanic brands. Nothing crazy and actually a refreshing change of pace. One final thought: nice employees every time. Despite long lines at the registers they keep you moving and do so with a smile. It's the kind of service you hope for and expect. read more

Came here 4 days ago after work to their customer service counter to make a money transfer with Western Union. Went home and then suddenly I receive a notification that the transfer was refused and didn't go through and I had to go back to pick up my money from them. I went back within 30 mins to an hr and I let them know that I got notified by western union it was refunded and refused and I could go collect my money immediately. The lady that had helped me earlier with the transfer was no longer there. The new lady there wasn't able to help me. I was there an entire hour.. she told me to come back in 30 minutes. I went the next day and the man at the customer service counter couldn't figure out how to help me get my money back. I had my receipt and my control number and my California identification. He told me the transfer was successful and that the other person already had picked up the money and all. I told him that's impossible the other person has not retrieved anything, and I spoke to customer service they told me my money is ready for pick up because the transfer was canceled and refunded. He kept telling me he can't help me there's no money there for me to "call western union customer service or something". I called WU customer care again and went back to the counter and again he said the same thing he doesn't know what to do and he can't help me. I went back outside to call WU customer care again and speak with them. I came back inside and he wasn't there anymore. There was an elderly lady there and she was extremely rude. She did not want to help me at all. She had an angry face with no mask on. She did not even greet me she just stood there and after a minute or two I said hello is there anyone that can help me and she rudely said to me " what do you need?" I began to explain to her and and she suddenly cut me off mid sentence and snapped at me " no! I can't help you with that! Just wait for the guy that was helping you already to come back." OK and so I waited. 10 mins go by nothing. I asked her very nicely if there was someone else that could help .. she sighed real hard .. (I get that they're tired and under staffed .. because I heard her and the other two workers that kept coming up to the counter do nothing but complain about how understaffed they'd been.. but that doesn't justify them giving horrid customer service to customers) and she said to me " ok let me see your receipt" and she begins typing on the computer and struggling for like 10 more mins she seems to have absolutely no idea of what she is doing. The guy comes back and she asks for his help.. he says in a very irritated tone that he cannot do anything. I told him what the WU customer service representative told me over the phone.. to let them know that they need call them so they can help them figure it out. He replied to me "I can't call them I will not speak with them ".. I asked if there was someone in charge who knew what to do? (Mind you the entire time I was there which was a total of 1 hour, the store manager was standing on her phone right next to them the entire time. I read her name tag) he basically didn't even pay attention he was very dismissive and left. The older lady that was there asked another employee ".. could you do this please?" And he replied no. She asked another one and they said no he didn't really wana deal with that to wait for someone else to arrive for their shift to do it. No one wanted to HELP the customer (me) ?! Like isn't that your job? I was getting so impatient and upset that none of them wanted to do a simple task. I had to call customer service a total of 4 times while being there and wasted an entire hour there. I told the lady to please just hand me back my receipt and I'd go somewhere else. She just handed it back to me without a word no apology nothing at all. I went to Safeway right down the street and I got in line at their customer service counter I was helped with SECONDS. Not even a minute at the counter and I had my cash in my hand. EASY! The gentleman that helped me there literally just asked for my control number and boom gave me my money within less than a minute. I am so grossed out. I bought a big thing of wet food. I kept smelling something on the way home and finally figured it out when I got home. I grabbed the cat good and smelled the gross smell. I went to this winco recently. I went to produce and saw an employee wearing his mask under his chin. I am required to wear a mask properly in order to enter the store. Every time I come to winco I see this employee wearing his mask the same way. Especially during this time we are supposed to take care of each other. I feel this employee is not concerned about my safety or his. Since it has been multiple times he doesn't wear his mask properly, I feel the employee and the manager are responsible for this. That day all the other employees were wearing their masks. I don't fault the whole store because of one employee. The employee was a man with a mustache. read more
