Winco is one of my favorite shopping spots for groceries because it's is affordable! The only thing is that the store does not accept Apple Pay! And not just that, but the customer service is really rude! Especially this one older lady with red curly hair who was working the self-checkout department! Best grocery prices and selection in the AV. I used to live in Tehachapi, CA-where shopping in limited to two EXTREMELY overpriced grocery stores, and on dirty, scrumpy, K-Mart. I used to drive over an hour (one way) just to load up on groceries at the Lancaster, CA WinCo once a month. Now that I live in Palmdale, I have dozens of choices for grocery stores. I still do all of my shopping at WinCO!!! I love this store, I love their selection, I love their huge selection of bulk items, I love their friendly associates, and I especially LOVE, LOVE, LOVE their prices! The only thing you should be warned about is that they do not accept credit cards, but do take debit cards. But with prices like that, you can't complain! read more

The five stars are for the pizza shop inside the store. The staff there is awesome, the prices are low and its some of the best pizza in Lancaster. They don't deliver, but their pizza is better than the local chains that do, so I take the time out to go pick it up. The rest of the store is subpar, but they are open 24 hours and the prices are low. Whenever I take advantage of the fact the store is open at 2 or 3am, the isles are clogged by the staff that is restocking. At this time of night they yell across the store at one another inappropriately and ignore the fact they are in customers' ways. The staff is frequently rude (even during the day time), and the customers are even worse ("ghetto" is a good descriptive term all around). I put up with it since I live close and the prices are low. I always go here before work in a hurry to pick up a lunch. Twice I have gone to the deli for sandwhich and salad and gotten old/molded/outdated food that i found out after I unwrapped it for lunch. Most recently was a salad that I purchased to consume the same day, and i find that its use by date was 5 days ago! That is much to long to be on the shelves for an oversight, makes me think they care more about thier bottom line than consumer safety. From now on i will stick to frozen/boxed goods. read more

I used to shop here frequently as I live nearby. I'm noticed quite a few of employees have a bad attitude I don't know if it's just this location but the experience I had tonight I am going to join Costco to avoid shopping there. I literally spent about 30 minutes trying to get checked out first because they wanted me to change the checkout line to second because the computer froze took the manager 15 minutes to come up and then he can't get it restarted and then when I complain about the fact he didn't open another lane allowing people to check out and making me wait to get behind everybody in line again. Absolutely love this place. Employees are always helpful. Store is clean and well stocked (except on Welfare days, the first of the month. Most stores are bad those days because of the shoppers though) I drive from Palmdale to shop there. Love the bulk foods department. Cashiers are fast and friendly. I like WinCo prices and products. I love their large selection of cheese my favorite place to get blue cheese and Romano, not all markets carry them...Plus many other deli items to choose from. Just my only concern and advice to other shoppers is to be alert with your surroundings in the parking lot, day or night. read more

I'm a big fan of Winco. I read a lot of negative reviews but what they were saying are negatives issues common to all grocery stores ( I have 20 years experience in the Retail Clerks Union and another 10 in grocery merchandising). I always check expiration dates wherever I shop and don't think they are any worse than other stores. I have found items in other stores that were over 3 years out of code and when I showed it to the grocery manager I had to teach them about the gregorian calendar as it is used to date some items. There's always going to be some bad produce and whenever I have seen any I tell the clerk and they have always thanked me and immediately removed the bad items. I have only been there once since the stay at home orders as I was pretty well stocked, but will be going tomorrow to stock up some more. read more

WinCo is just OK and some food there can be hit and miss. The meat section is good but a lot of their packaged foods are usually weeks from going out date you. You really have to check. I bought a lot of cereal from here that was off and only found out after tasting it. Very disappointed. I would not suggest coming here for anything other than the butcher and deli section. Very organized during this difficult time. About 9:45am I had to wait in line to go in, but was only about 10 minutes. The way they do this makes the shopping experience less hectic. Everything I needed was in stock and if there was none, I could get another brand. They even had toilet paper. But as far has other paper products, there wasn't much. The checkout process is long but it was orderly. The line was single file and went all the way to back of store along the ice cream isle and back to beer case. But it moved. You just need to be patient. Thank You Winco and it's employees. And the chipper security guard monitoring the line out front. read more

I really love this store being so local to where I live. I find that they have the lowest prices and the employees are actually caring about their jobs. There is always something good to buy there and I see their prices are lower than Wal-Mart. The only ugly is that Winco is the preferred shopping spot of the EBT cars users in the Antelope Valley and the store is extremely busy during that first half of any month. I also advise parking at a distance I have been hit a few times when the other party is uninsured. This store is great and the only bad part is the people that do not care. Also what amazes me is the people that use the handicap motor carts and they have no disabilities. read more

WinCo Foods is employee owned, and I approve of that. They do not take credit cards. I do not approve. This store has the biggest selection of bulk foods I've ever seen. They have a pretty good track record of having fresh goods in the bins, too. Try the chocolate covered gummy bears. Seriously. Pure genius. Forget those deep fried twinkies, or whatever, because the chocolate gummys are winners. I have had issues with this store's produce and their butcher. But the regular goods in the middle of the store have been fine, and the dairy quality and prices are good. They are open 24-hours, which is a nice touch. So as long as you are a vegetarian who buys produce from a farmer's market (or some other location where you trust the quality), you'll be happy with WinCo. read more

I have no idea how this Grocery store was able to garner an 'A' Rating from the L.A County Department of Health. I routinely get stuck with, and have to return, spoiled cheese, and other half thawed (and then re- frozen) items that have been grossly mishandled. I work nights out of town and regularly stop into Winco on my way home, and I have personally witnessed stock persons throwing boxes/bags of food across the store (Shooting Basketball into nearby shopping carts with "go-back" items), and if they miss, the food is left on the floor with it's contents spilling/bursting out of the package, and nothing is done while customers, like myself, are left to step over, or maneuver around puddles of "once frozen, but now thawed" shrimp, or some other type of raw food which will continue to lay on the floor unattended for who knows how long. If horseplay is not in progress at the time of my arrival, then it is usually because everyone, (I mean everyone) except for the Cashiers, have congregated outside to hang out in the parking lot for a cigarette/smoke break. All the while dozens of palettes of refrigerated/frozen food items, will remain stacked up, neck high, and left sitting dead square in the middle of isles allowing dairy, meat and other perishable items to fall below the mandatory minimum food storage levels set forth by the Department of Food and Beverage Safety. After making nearly a dozen calls to the L.A. County Department of Health, with little to no response on their part to see it for themselves, I gave up. Now I just take pictures with my Cell phone camera, and maintain a log so that when, not if, somebody comes down with a bad case of Salmonella, or E-coli Bacteria poisoning, I will have everything I need for a class action lawsuit. Now, before you say, "If it is so bad there, why don't you go shop at Wal-Mart" Well, believe me when I say, I have been there, and done that, and Wal-Mart is no better. Not to mention I am already a year and a half into a life-long Boycott of Wal-Mart due to their being involved with political institutions, such the American Legislative Exchange Council, ALEC. Pros: * Great prices on just about everything. * Clean. Cons: * The clientele makes Walmart look like Bristol Farms. * Very busy after the first of the month - when EBT Cards are replenished. * I see what others meant about the lines. I went there and only three cashiers were open with very long lines. I picked the shortest line. After about a minute of standing there, the cashier turned off his light and told me he was closed. I told him I was in line when the light was on. He just shooed me away - unacceptable. Now there were only two lines open. I went to the shorter of the two. As I approached the front of the line two more cashiers opened up and took people from the back of the line - unacceptable again. read more

My husband and I were visiting my dad in Lancaster. As always, we made our traditional visit to Winco. As always we enjoyed wandering up and down the isles. Everything was the same as our last visit. Nice and clean. Some of the people that shop there look questionable......but who am I to judge, right? The customer service was great. In the spice isle, my husband was looking for Caraway Seeds. An employee walked by, and asked us if we needed help! My husband told her we were looking for Caraway Seeds.....she walked us right to it. Yes!!! Check out was good. Easy. I love that this grocery warehouse is open 24/7. My bf gets home pretty late from work and if I didn't make dessert or forget an ingredient, we usually come here. I've been through the fruits and vegetable aisle and some of fruits had gnats hovering over but the potatoes, squash and onions I bought were fine. I'm not much into fruit so I don't really care however I think the warehouse should at least have better air circulation when they have fresh produce lying around. The fresh herbs and other veggies that require a colder setting was clean and organized. It has bins filled with random commodities like chocolate covered nuts or gummies to wrapped candies and other bulk grains. There is always a special on something. My bf hates it because we come for a few things but leave with a grocery cart full. Always check the expiration date. Use your debit card or bring cash because they do not accept credit cards. read more

I shop at this store for most items we use throughout the month, the prices are very reasonable and usually carve about twenty bucks off our usual food budget for myself and my eight year old daughter. I used to shop more at Stater Brothers, nearer to my house, but WinCo beats them out for bargain pricing. The prices are totally comparable if not way better to, lets say WaL~Mart...and they also carry these delectable pies in the bakery section that we have replaced those frozen ones, we sometimes get, with. Coconut & banana are our favorite, we add extra fresh bananas to the top, and the sweetness is cut a bit, by healthy real fruit. I appreciate that I finally found a food-store here in Lancaster with Healthful BuLk Foodstuff's the prices on those BY FAR outweigh any competitor. Try some Nutritional Yeast on your popcorn? The recipes that are handy all around the offerings, are good to grab too, in bulk foods. They will give you ideas for preparation(s) if you feel lost. The last thing we tried was the pizza dough and making our own pizza...great but the yeast there was flat, get that in those packages in the flour section instead for a bit. hopefully they will get in Active, dry yeast which bubbles up...(the whole point of the matter, when baking) in the bulk section soon. maybe i'll call... We save on so many things there, we love the blueberry granola, which costs twice as much with manufactured packaging, and isn't as tasty, although some granolas are just okay. You can buy teeny samples of a bunch of them if you want, for the price of a cereal box of granola...and find your favorite one in a weeks time. We buy the mixes at times for muffins, or the rye or buckwheat or flax flours in any amount we like to add to our cookies crepes, and cakes...healthy and delicious additions. We also get small amounts of chocolate chips there, buy a dollars worth to toss in banana crepes or pancakes for a month...and such. Makes it affordable to eat like a Queen...and a lit'l Princess! Other bargains are all throughout the store, they also go beyond grocers items and hygene supplies, adding a bit of gardening supplies, a few toys, simple clothing like a three pack of stretchy camisole tops, and occasionally some kind of shoes and beachy stuff like sunglasses & slippahs... Dont forget to see the viatmins, i found out I can get Coral Calcium for about 11 dollars, and thats for a huge bottle. You know how great that is for ya right? Check in there for the bargains! No one should waste their food budget on high priced stores. It's also right next to another store I really like, the local Lowe's, so I usually wonder around in Lowe's first for hardware, closet, and any BBQ needs, then get on to grocery heaven...only the 99cent store can beat it for food bargains. You do package your own food there, into the bags, after paying. I sometimes feel hurried by this, but we usually get it done without irritating anyone coming along behind us. I have never had any problem with bagging our own stuff. Highly reccommended... but when asked about Textured Vegetable Protein, the person working in bulk foods said they didn't have it, but there it was~ after I helped the gal looking for it. Also when you buy bulk, from this store you will occasionally forget to write in the number of an item, and that proves to be a little problem at the counter, because they don't have folks to send back to bulk and just grab a number for you. Guess it's best to have a helper like I do. My daughter keeps me in check now, writing the numbers while I grab more items. The fresh peanut grinder and almond grinders for butters are excellant, and the honey there is the ONLY way to buy honey...very affordable! This week we got the darkest one, a Blackberry honey, and it is so YUMMY...and more healthy for you than lighter color infused honey's, and if you don't mess with the bee box is best, they are there making it fresh for ya. ;~}) read more

I like the prices there and will go back for packaged food. But I've had problems with the produce - as many other reviewers already stated and prefer to buy it at Food4Less or Walmart. I've also had problems with their meat. The ground beef was on a few occasions bad once I opened the package at home (on the same day). I also got bad pork there once. I stopped buying meat at Winco - I don't risk getting sick just to safe a few pennies. read more

What ever you do... do not go at the beginning of the month. It's a mad house in there. All other times, it so much less crowded. My mother in law and I love the bulk food area. I get my dog treats from there and cereal and other things like seasoning, nuts, pasta. It's truly awesome, so much more less expensive then the prepackaged stuff. Their produce section is really good. Lots of fresh fruits and veggies. They have a large meat and cheese section in the back of the store. It's between the baulk items and the frozen foods. I find almost everything here and their competitive low prices are hard to beat or find anywhere else. read more

The service is always good. Shopping I'm the evening, I feel I receive better service. It is convenient that they now have a self checkout line. I personally don't like them because it eliminates jobs and people interaction, but it is nice for some. They have a great bulk selection and it's where I buy anything from chocolate chips to spices and cereal. A better deal for your buck. Winco has wonderful rawhide chew chips for dogs. The rawhide chips are made in America and are reasonably priced. The Hounds love them. Winco is also one of the few markets that carry Tillamook Yogurt, many places have the Greek Tillamook, but not the standard Tillamook. Winco is cash only, but you know that going in. Their prices are very low. However, if you want fresh produce, don't go here unless you plan on using it the day you buy it. I bought zucchini, broccoli and celery there, and within a day the zucchini started getting soft brown spots and fuzzy mold, the broccoli was no longer crispy or firm and it was turning brown and the celery was soft and bendable. I only really ever go here if I need something last minute since I live in the apartments behind it, but if it can wait I will go to Wal-Mart or Vons. That being said, they do have good prices on canned goods, and frozen food. Their deli should be cleaner, but their fried chicken is a good last minute dinner idea and it is the cheapest, as far as I know in Lancaster. BUT it is super ghetto! read more

This is my usual grocery store and I like this place until I get to the cash register. They need to give their cashiers some badly needed public relations training. At least teach them to communicate so I don't have to ask questions and try to figure things out. A hello or thank you I can live without but refusing to verbalize anything at all and making me as the customer drag info like my sum total out of you is cold. Pretty cool grocery store in the heart of the AV. Basically like a smaller version of Sam's Club or CostCo without any required membership. You also don't have to buy everything in bulk and the prices are better than anything I've seen in Palmdale or Lancaster. Only weird thing is that you have to bag groceries yourself, but I guess they have to cut costs somewhere. Try 'em out! read more

This is the worse store in the Antelope Valley as Customer Service means nothing to anyone who works here this was once a kind and happy place and they say it is employee owned ,If that is the case I have never seen such miserable owners ,A smile is unknown of here I do not even like coming in the store anymore as everyone is so mean and depressed ,I wish they would at least get some Music in to offer a better environment .
