    Shrimp scampi

Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing stop for my wife and I. We had never been here before, but the view looked excellent online. And by all accounts it was just fine. Wait staff was very kind and attentive. But, then again we were the only customers. The water comes in a nice decorative bottle, but sadly that is where the positives end. The cocktails were served in clear plastic solo cups. Flavor wise, they were fine, but for 18$ the cups were a puzzling choice. We ordered the duck wings, which were fine. I ordered the shrimp scampi and was very disappointed. The shrimp were extremely overcooked and the scampi sauce was flavorless with a watery consistency. The pasta was overcooked and was a touch away from being mush. My wife ordered a chicken sandwich, which was also very overcooked. Though at least the sandwich was generous in size. I can't say if this is the usual quality of food, but I also won't be returning to find out.

Food was great. Our server was very accommodating. View was amazing. We were pleasantly surprised. There was an amazing band playing called Diva and the Bar Band Heroes.

My mom and I found this place while driving around out east and we are so happy we did! The restaurant and grounds are absolutely beautiful and you can see all the amazing boats on the marina. The service was impeccable and so was the food. We were greeted by Dan who is the manager, and he was also our server. He couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. He made us feel so welcome from the moment he saw us walking in. The atmosphere is nautical which I love, and it is bright and airy, with the best views of the water. The food here is amazing, and mom and I agreed they make the best baked clams we have ever had! I had seared tuna which was cooked perfectly, and mom's fish and chips were perfect. Not greasy at all, and the fish was flaky and moist. The shoe string potatoes were also excellent, and also the best that I have ever tasted. Another server was named Angel, and she came over to our table to check on us. She was so nice and also so attentive, even though we weren't her table. Dan and Angel work so well together, and made our entire experience the best! We will definitely be back, and I encourage you all to try this place. It is so relaxing and beautiful. I think they also have music out on the lawn at times... but I forgot to ask. I will be back to find out, and to enjoy another amazing meal! Thank you Dan and Angel!

It was a beautiful day so we took a drive out east and decided to try Windamere after hearing its name come up several times over the years. Not too many people eating lunch there; outside seating only during that time of day, but it was perfect out so that was fine. Our server was somewhat attentive and generally knowledgeable about the menu. Was not overly friendly but our orders were accurate. I had the shrimp tacos and spouse had the lobster roll. Both were very good. Would have appreciated a larger menu selection even for lunch. We will consider coming back to try their dinner menu at some point. The only tables that they were seating people at were right in front of the pool, which was not enjoyable because it was somewhat loud. There were tables further away from the pool but I felt like it was an inconvenience to request one of them so as not to make the server go too far from the other tables. We also felt a little out of place as we are not members of the club there. Lately we've been exploring restaurants we haven't been to yet, so we were glad to try here, but definitely not one of our faves. Perhaps we will change our minds when coming for dinner!

The description of the restaurant, the menus and the reviews online made us to decide to give them a try. We're so glad that we did! We entered through the bar entrance which was lively but not crazy loud. There was a musician setting up in one corner of the bar area. We could hear him during our dinner but it was not at all distracting (and he was quite good). We were greeted by one of the hosts (who I now believe may be one of the owners). We were welcomed and escorted to a table in the dining room right behind the bar area. From what I could determine, there were at least two other dining areas and an outside dining area (for dining during the nicer weather). Our server quickly came to welcome us, ask if we had questions about the menu / specials and to take our drink order. She was attentive, pleasant and was able to quickly and accurately answer questions that we had (we have some dietary restrictions and needed to verify some ingredients. She knew immediately what we could order to dine safely. We started our order with the Chiccharon appetizer. I had anticipated that the item would be traditional crispy Chiccaron. Instead the dish was more of a pork belly in a broth. We actually enjoyed that much more! It was plentiful, cooked to perfection and flavorful. For dinner my wife and our friend ordered the sea bass special. They both thought it was plentiful, perfectly prepared and tasted great. I ordered the pork chop with spicy cherry peppers in a light evoo broth. I told our server that I wasn't eating potatoes or rice and asked for a recommendation for a substitute. She recommended the broccolini which was a perfect alternative. My pork chop was served perfectly (medium, juicy,) and was huge! We passed on dessert but the options looked amazing. We will absolutely be back again SOON. Thank you.

Had the mezcal Paloma and my wife had the bees knees which were both created to absolute perfection. The Littles looked over the menu and were kinda ‍ but our waiter must speak kiddo and said that they have chicken fingers and other kid meals that they would be happy to make. Score!! We got the fried calamari for the table to start. Crispy, fresh and beautifully tender. Kids devoured them and almost took one of our fingers off for the last one. My wife had the summer risotto and made a request for grilled chicken on top which they were happy to do. I had the Greek farro salad with grilled chicken, again, after a day of wine tasting it was the protein I needed and lightness I was looking for. Chicken as a topper on both dishes was abundant . Our servers were attentive without being intrusive or trying to rush us out. Host was friendly and accommodating, even checked up on us as she escorted other diners to their table. QPR was right on point. All dishes were fresh, seasoned to perfection, creative utilizing what's local and what's in season and generously portioned. This place stays on my radar and will be frequented again and again when we're in town next. I wish more spots in CT were this creative with locally grown ingredients and still maintained an ambience of a friendly neighborhood bistro. Very welcoming place.

The pancakes were good, I believe there were three and they are large. I especially like they serve real maple syrup. The steak and eggs were ok. The steak was marinated in some sort of teriyaki sauce I believe. Our party did not enjoy the steak. But we loved the home fries and the side of bacon was cooked perfectly. I would like to go back here and try their lunch and/or dinner. I also want to mention we arrived at 8:15 and it was really crowded by 9. It was a nice place to eat.

A Loyal Customer's Disappointment…read more I've been going to Legends for over 20 years, so writing this review is honestly disappointing for me. I have always loved this place and considered it one of my go-to restaurants. That's why the changes I've experienced recently are so noticeable. I ordered my usual Coke, but unfortunately it was flat. I also ordered the hamburger I've enjoyed for years, and this time it simply didn't taste like the burger I've always loved. The portion of French fries was also noticeably smaller. Normally, I wouldn't care about the amount of fries if the burger was still as delicious as it used to be, but unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Since the new ownership, it feels like a lot has changed. The service was very slow, seemingly because there aren't enough servers. The changes behind the bar have also affected the drinks, which just aren't as good as they used to be. I understand that businesses change and new owners may want to bring their own ideas to a restaurant. But when you've been a loyal customer for 20 years, you notice when the quality, service, food, and overall experience change. I truly hope Legends can get back to the quality and service that made longtime customers like me keep coming back year after year. I would love nothing more than to be able to enjoy my favorite burger and say, "This is the Legends I remember."

Redemption! I always…read moretry to keep an open mind when visiting a restaurant, especially if it's new. Well, I'm happy to say this one has matured very well. Just walking in, we were warmly greeted, then quickly seated. This place is "picnic style", so you're given menus at your table, but order at the counter (I personally like that vibe). Anyway, we ordered their 1/4 pound, five-meat sampler (pulled pork, pulled chicken, brisket, a competition-style rib and a whole smoked sausage) and they converted me. Everything was nothing short of awesome. Both the pork and chicken were juicy and tender, the brisket this time around was smoked to succulent perfection and the rib was nothing short of excellent (not 'fall off the bone", but with that perfect competition "pull" that really won me over). The sausage I learned was locally sourced and a great compliment to the platter. Enough for two with small appetites to share. The sauce is still in small cups, but as I was told, there had been so much waste left on empty plates, that they had no choice to serve it that way, and I get that. Restaurants run on very thin margins these days. I had the spicy version again and really enjoyed it. Add in some live music played by a couple of good ole boys and since my first visit 9 months ago, this place has turned into a legit Long Island BBQ joint and will now be part of my usual rotation. I still think the hush puppies could have used a few seconds less in the fryer, but the flavor profile was spot on as was the corn fritters. But we left happy and full...I'm glad I was able to get back and try it again. Plenty of parking, all cards and a very laid back experience. Great for families or a stop by while cruising the north fork of Long Island. It's a gotta-go in my opinion. Nicely done!
