Windsor Asian Bistro is one of our regular hangouts for consistently good food and service. The sushi is really fresh and delicious. There is a great selection of sushi and sashimi options. Entrees are delicious and come out hot. They put a good amount of effort into their cocktails. Stand out appetizers include their tuna tartare, Dorito fish, and teriaki beef sticks. We stay away from the egg rolls and chick wings. Notable entrees include the sizzling and sauce dishes, where you pick your sauce and proteins ala carte. The curry sauces stand out but we have never gone wrong with any of the combinations. The owners are friendly and make us feel welcome when we arrive. Ordered the "Thai Pineapple Coconut Fried Rice" and was overall disappointed because the description stated it came with fresh vegetables and there was not a single vegetable to be found. The pineapple pieces were also very small and scarce bringing hardly any pineapple flavor. For the price of $12.50 to have it with chicken I anticipated it to be much better and not just taste like some generic fried rice from your typical Chinese restaurant that would of cost half as much. read more

Terrible. Online order said 80 minutes and we called and they told us it would be done despite the uptake in orders. We decided to be patient and wait. Unfortunately they lied about how much they were taking in. Showed up and many people were waiting on orders for more than 2 hrs. They keep telling people 15-20 minutes. We just found out 3/7 dishes are done so a sushi order and meat are waiting out in the open while they cook the rest without knowledge of how long our order will take. We are still waiting in the car and it's been more than 130 minutes since we ordered. They keep lying to people about wait and they have no system or order on how to get orders out. People are waiting for takeout orders in the lobby in the same time it takes people to arrive, eat in, pay and leave. Not only that, with people angry in front of them in the lobby they choose to take orders over the phone in front of everyone and lie about the wait. Terrible. Yeah UPDATE: it took three hours to pick up my food. When I complained to the manager he asked me condescendingly what he should do. Guy, that's such a bad answer to a customer that lives near by and orders a lot. You should say you're not taking any more orders and taking care of everyone who has been waiting for many hours. And not even an apology. NOT ONE APOLOGY FOR TERRIBLE SERVICE. Not coming back. Lost a customer today. My company nearby often dines here for group outings and takeout and I will do my best to make sure they don't go here. 2ND UPDATE: got home and they forgot a dish. This was awful. They didn't even apologize when we showed up to get a refund and people that I saw before were still there. All in all it took more than three hours to get this resolved without an apology or any understanding from the business. Terrible look for them and not a modicum of empathy to make us think about coming back for a second chance. Lost. read more

First dinner out in Windsor, CT on a business trip and decided to order takeout (mistake because their bar looked nice). Staff was friendly and quick to cash me out. Sushi roll was ok but the quality seemed great and well constructed. Dumplings....probably in my top 3 of all time. Crispy, light and the sauce was definitely made in house. read more

Delicious, beautiful, fresh, and fabulous! Seven of us had lunch today, each dish fantastic. My husband ordered his "usual" sushi deluxe but this was a far better gourmet delight than anything we've ever had. I had beef with spicy orange sauce and broccoli. The heat level was perfect, broccoli steamed just right and the beef was tender. My mother ordered crispy shrimp with walnuts and it was amazing. Dad had the seafood fire pot, which was loaded including a whole lobster tail. We also had the Windsor roll, Tokyo roll plus a few other sushi items...all fresh and wonderful. Add Sapporo on tap and exotic martinis, owners and waitstaff who were friendly and attentive. This place is a don't miss! Windsor Asian Bistro is a hidden gem. When you pull into the plaza it is located in, you could never expect it to be as nice as it is on the inside. The décor is beautifully set up. There is a long bar on one side and table seating on the other. There is also an outdoor patio. The waitress was very knowledgeable and everything came out in a timely manner. We had a garden salad with a perfect ginger dressing, spring rolls that were to die for, and 4 different specialty sushi rolls. The presentation of the sushi upon delivery to our table was a beautiful layout and everything tasted great. This was my second time going here and both times I was not disappointed. read more

Clean and very friendly:) won ton soup was fresh and delicious! I had the eggroll and spring rolls, both were very good but I liked the Spring roll better. The eggroll had little flavor which was kind of disapointing because that's what I was craving the most. I had the coconut curry which was very good and the right spiciness... My husband had the general chos chicken which he devoured. It was sweet and tasty. They also were nice enough to make my son a plate of just lo mein noodles without anything in it which was super nice of them. The only complain that I would have is the lack salt in everything and sometimes soy sauce just does not do the job. The people that work are very nice and accommodating and the food was great too! This is a hidden gem. They pack in a lot in this little restaurant. There's a sushi bar, a sports bar and a dining area. The sushi was some of the best I had, very fresh. Not the dried out version from your local Chinese restaurant but an actual fresh rice dish that could be a meal. Also enjoyed the Hunan pork, but wished there was more spice. Large portion with tender pork and flavorful brown sauce. My wife enjoyed her sushi, especially the Bloomfield roll, which was rolled in cucumber. The food was terribly bland. We ordered pad Thai which has no flavor, and Kung pow chicken which had even less flavor. Ordered miso soup which was basically hot water. I ordered the sushi dinner for two and was not impressed. At first the platter came out beautifully and our waitress (Debbie) was so sweet so I had high expectations. The fish was cut perfectly and the rice to fish ratio was perfect. However, the tuna and a few other pieces were tough and chewy and had a very strong fishy aftertaste. This place is truly a gem in an incredibly unassuming strip mall location. We passed this restaurant multiple times after moving to CT but didn't give it a try until months later. One of the things that initially kept us from trying this restaurant is the fact that their menu includes Chinese, Thai and Japanese dishes. We felt that most restaurants that endeavor to master multiple cuisines often fail. Boy were we wrong! This place is really great! We've ordered out a couple times and have had some of the Chinese and Thai dishes including General Tso's Chicken, Drunken Noodles and a few of the Thai curries. The chicken was a little chewy but the taste overall was good and the Thai dishes were awesome! Most recently my husband and I had a lunch date at the bar and tried the sushi and I have to say it was excellent! We ordered a few different rolls and the tuna carpaccio to start and everything was great! Additionally, the interior of the restaurant is simple yet elegant and the service is always friendly. Great find by chance. We had General Tso and Kung pao - both shrimp and both awesome. The food quality and service is really good. Lunch special was at a great price however we feel the portions are a little small. However all good and great experience. Sushi is 4 out of 5. Not the best but you should come here for entrees. This restaurant is at the same location the China Sea used to be. When I first moved to the area (late 1990s), the China Sea was an excellent Chinese restaurant with exceptional service. Over the years, however, with a change in ownership, it went downhill. Very happy that the location now houses the Windsor Asian Bistro. The restaurant's decor is modern, beautiful and inviting. Had lunch there on a Friday with colleagues, and then went back again today (Saturday) just to make sure that my first impression wasn't a fluke. The food is very tasty, lunch portions are ample, and the service is very friendly (if not over solicitous). Being of Asian descent, I am incredibly happy (and yes, even proud) that there is a nice Asian restaurant in Windsor again where I can take friends, family and work mates. Will return for dinner service soon, and call for takeout as well -- and will update this review accordingly. So far though, Windsor Asian Bistro is a solid four stars, based on my two lunch visits. read more
