I'm always skeptical about going to dealerships. We had taken our hybrid Ioniq to Midas for an oil change, but they told me that we needed an engine oil flush. They also they didn't offer that service. My hubby called around and Jerry V quoted us $249, which was a fair price. They flushed the engine and added new oil. We arrived at our scheduled time and checked in with Samantha at the service department. We left our keys with her and the service was done an hour and a half later. We thought that they would tell us that we needed to get this and that fixed, but that wasn't the case. They were very honest and didn't try to upsell us anything. What a 5 star experience I had! Kai was my initial contact salesman and Dylan alongside him. Both of their communication and listening skills were exemplified when they produced exactly what I wanted in test driving. I went in upside down on my vehicle loan and they brought me right back up to a brand new 2026 Sonata Sel. That is just the start. I made an appointment online for the service department at 10am for maintenance on my car oil change rotate tires etc. It took 5 hours to complete the service I mean why schedule at 10am when my car was waiting in line for over 3.5 hours to get seen by a technician, and this wasn't the first time it took that long the last service was even more terrible I will explain in other review. read more

At the completion of my transaction, AJ Britton personally made a promise to reimburse a post-delivery expense that I incurred, that promise has still not been honored after more than two months. I wish I could give zero stars. I scheduled my appointment two days in advance and specifically communicated that I could not stay past 1PM -- I had to pick up my child from school. I was assured it would be noted. I arrived 15 minutes early. Four employees saw me standing there and not one offered to help. I had to use the self-service kiosk myself. I confirmed my phone number with them so they could call when my car was ready, then headed to the mall with my two babies to wait. 12:30 came and went with no call. I walked back to the shop and found my car exactly where I left it -- behind the same car from when I first arrived. My gut told me they hadn't touched it, and I was right. A different employee at the window told me they were "probably backed up." If that's the case, why was I never called? I was at the mall with two small children waiting on a car that hadn't moved. The bare minimum would have been a phone call. No communication. No customer service. Employees visibly on their phones while customers stood waiting for acknowledgment. This is completely unacceptable. I will not be returning, and I will not be recommending this shop to anyone. Go somewhere that actually values your time. read more

Servicing my car in Kaneohe, O'ahu, Hawaii... I don't know why I kept going to the Hyundai dealership in Waipahu. Maybe because the lounge was bigger and had more amenities? It was further away and when I needed a ride home, it was more inconvenient. They didn't have a loaner car, wouldn't pay for an Uber ride, and didn't have a shuttle. Uhg! This time, my car barely made it to Windward Hyundai. The engine died three times before I got to the Service Department on Kahuhipa Street. The gals who helped me: Samantha, the Service Advisor, and Davida, the cashier, were very sweet, thorough, and knowledgeable. They paid for my Uber ride home, and when the driver cancelled, they were looking for a ride for me, then Uber rescheduled another driver who drove me home. This experience was spooky, but they made me feel safe by checking up on me and my Uber ride status; calling me with updates on my car; and gave me estimated prices on parts. My Hyundai Accent 2017, had been making creaking noises off and on when I let off the brake. This had been going on for a few weeks. When I had the time, I decided to take it in to Jerry V's for what I thought would be a brake pad adjustment. My only comment was that I thought the noise came from the left rear. No one asked me if there was trouble with braking or stopping, leaking from the wheel, sponginess in the brake pedal. As far as they knew, it was a sudden problem. No one took it for a test drive to identify the sound. When I got to the paying window, I was told that the brake drum was leaking fluid and that it could seize up at any time, it would take 4 days without the car to get the parts, and would cost $2,400 dollars. I was stuck believing them. ( I am an elderly woman; I came without a man's support.) When I picked up the car, drove out and parked at a nearby feed store, the same sound occurred backing up. I called a week later and asked to speak to the service manager and told them the problem was not fixed. No one has ever called back. I later spoke to several people who work on cars, including someone who worked on Hyundais. On the internet I found lists of signs and symptoms of brake fluid leakage. I now know that, if the problem they found was true, there wouldn't have been noise until there was big trouble with the braking action. The cause was probably rusting, due to wet weather, of the rotors or drums. Since the weather has dried out there is no noise at all. It is clear I've been victimized. They picked a nice expensive fix without any assessment and used threatening language to insure I would comply. I know my only recourse is to tell the public about this dishonest, money gauging, fraudulent tactic used against unsuspecting women at Jerry V's Hyundai dealer. read more

Update: I still Love love love this car. Dealing with the dealership however, is a pain in the you-know-what. Their online appt scheduling system does not work, It took until the day my temporary license plate expired for me to drive in from Waianae to check to see if my new plates had arrived. I was told they had just showed up that morning. Hmmmm okay. Whenever I called to check on them - at least 3 times- I would either be be transferred to the salespersons voicemail or kept on hold. And the salesperson only called me back to tell me he would check and call me back, which he never did. Niiiice. And so I decided to just show up on expiration day (planning to get a refreshed temporary license plate so as not to get ticketed) and what do ya know!?!The new plates just happened to be there. Honestly I am sooooo dreading having to take the car in for routine service in the future because it is a pain to get anyone to answer the phone and they have absolutely no business communication skills. And don't even try to work from your laptop while you wait and take a meeting otherwise some lady will come by and shush you, even though they play their music at a Volume that could be overheard in meetings. As soon as they had my money for the vehicle purchase they obviously lost interest in serving me or likely anyone, as a service customer. Pretty sad in my opinion. And don't both going to the other Hyundai dealerships either, they all get crappy reviews too. read more

I noticed they (hyundai dealer) put dot 4 Brake fluid in my brake fluid reservoir instead of dot 3 which is recommended for this car, this i saw on one of my recent maintenance printouts and im sure its on file. My car has nothing but issues because i really don't know what work they did to my car after i get it back, because desires to share with me what was done and what I'm paying for and when i try to find out if i can get my costs cut with coupons they play dumb. I scheduled an appointment 3 weeks out for a replacement of my blinker switch. I received acknowledgement from the service department telling me my part has arrived two weeks before my appointment. When I brought my car in, the service adviser told me they'd have to check if the part was in stock. After waiting for two hours, the adviser called me to tell me that they don't have the part and it needed to be ordered. On top of that, I needed to pay in advance to order the part. I fell in love with the Santa Cruz XRT, in particular the Canyon Red color. I live on the Big Island and found only one XRT on the island and it was Hampton Grey. I test drove it and loved it and was willing to make the color compromise just to get one, because that model doesn't come on to the island very often (mostly SE and SEL). Someone actually (fortunately) bought it minutes before I could. SO, I decided to see how hard it was to buy from another island and have it shipped to Kawaihae. I knew that Windward had two identical Canyon Red models. I phoned the dealership and Danny picked up the line. I let him know I wanted to buy a car on THAT day and with total aloha he went to work. Within minutes he was back to me with a price to start the negotiations and within an hour we had a deal!!! Digital "paperwork" flew back and forth and soon I was the happy owner of one of their two Canyon Reds. He then went to work on getting me a shipping date, which depends a bit on Young Brothers communication skills, but eventually he was able to nail it down. Young Brothers here on my end were superstars and full of aloha as I picked up "Pumpkin" yesterday as promised. If Windward has the rig you're looking for and you need it shipped outer island, have no fear! Phone Danny and he will MAKE it happen. I bought my car here, which was a decent experience. But service has been a pain. I was sold a warranty that allowed certain things to be replaced yearly for no cost and they would never honor it. Thankfully the finance department oked a refund. But then coming in for service I was always given the run around and explanations of why they couldn't do some things that I think are standard in the Hyundai warranty like 36 months of service (or so many miles which I am nowhere near) and they guy said that they only do so many service visits even though I'm following the manufacturer recommend schedule and so it works out to be only 2 years of service. Today I hit the last straw (that broke the camel's back) when I went in for a state vehicle inspection that I scheduled online weeks ago, and got no fewer than 3 text and email reminders of, and the same shifty service guy said they can't see me because they don't have an inspector on Saturdays. Period, no attempt at making it right somehow (like a. discount for when they do the inspection later to keep my business) or seeing if one of their sister service places that are adjacent have availability to squeeze me in, etc. Nothing, just a flat stare. It's more that I'm primed with their past behavior, but this seems pretty par for the course that they would not fix their website scheduling system if they can't do Saturday appointments or scrub through for the type of appointments and call me to reschedule or something. Similar to how they sell a warranty they have no intention of honoring. Love my Tuscon, will not work with this service department again. read more

Mark and Kisione spent time with us going over the different cars we were considering purchasing and answered all our questions. We decided to purchase our car from them. Kisione made a personal connection with us by sharing so many stories with us that we felt we really got to know him on a personal level and he put us at ease in what could be a difficult time (car shopping). Not many sales people are willing to spend time with customers and making that personal connection. They both gave such aloha to us. Mark greeted us first but did not pressue us at all. Kisione greeted us after we had been walking around cluelessly. To be honest we kind of brushed him off because Mark greeted us first and we want him to work with us first. Mark unfortunately had to go to a meeting and seemlessly passed us to Kisione. Mark did come back and assisted us again. There was zero competition between them which we noticed and it told us something (big positive) about both them and maybe even Windward Hyundai. Do not purchase a vehicle from them!! We got our brand new car here and it's been a ridiculous nightmare. Long story short upon getting the car home , the next day during daylight, we noticed lots of interior scratches , one really bad one in the display part . One small spot exterior where paint is missing.The vehicle came from a different location on island so by the time they got it to their dealership it was getting dark and late. We should have never taken their word it was in perfect condition. Lesson learned. We have been trying to get this fixed for months! They keep blowing us off . They always say they will call back never do. One guy Daniel said it's getting handled , the manager cliff said he will get it taken care of right away, never heard back . The tags are now expired have been for a month and no one will return our call to get the registration. The lady who answers the phone puts me on hold and then disconnects the call. Peter and I got a Hyundai accent in September of 2023. We have been doing everything we can to contact the dealership and we have been leaving messages. So far we haven't heard back from anyone about his registration. The last time we heard from someone was back in November and they gave us the run around now they blacklist us and void our calls about the registration. We need that registration to continue the jobs we were doing. I suggested to Peter to sue Hyundai for his registration cause they are costing his living as an Uber driver. I'm done dealing with these guys. Feels scammy every time.  Garbly speech, indirect language, bizarre transactions setups... they don't listen well.  Pulling up feels like going into a slaughterhouse. I have no reason to believe the service technicians have been anything less than exemplary, we've had no problems mechanically; but the sales side, both in service and on the sales floor, has been scammy. Last straw, a simple battery diagnostic.  Tech ran the test, said inconclusive, said he would need to ask a high level tech (quietly) and left.  Business manager came over, said, you need a new battery.  I said are you sure?, based on what tech said, and what was going on with the car. He showed me the results again, said "battery bad" - literally those words. I went to a nearby auto shop, had another battery diagnostic test run, it showed the battery was good but needed to recharge. On another occasion, lady asked me to sign for something, didn't really let me read it, that said I would pay $35, but the business manager said it would be no charge.  This is called a contradiction, or "lying." There are frequently hidden additional charges as part of service. Gotchas accompanied by fast confusing speech and a rush to close the transaction.  This quite like the psychology of narcissistic sociopaths who employ "word salad" techniques of confusion. Just be honest and direct. There is confusion between various deals such as the tires for life program in conjunction with the 36k miles of free service offer by Hyundai.  I stopped taking the car to them for service after 36k to get a lower price at another service shop. But doing so voided the tires for life offer.  I asked them if they would honor it because of the confusion and because service had been done and they refused. read more

Worst car buying experience ever! It just must be Hawaii and the high mark up's! Was looking for lease vehicle in the $22,000 to $24,000 range. Dealership marks a $24,000 car up to $28,000 then claims it's giving you all kinds of discounts only to get right back to the same amount or more! $4,000, that you'll never get back, for a 3 year lease and your payment is almost $400 for a Hyundai? That's not affordable! Even better how about a car that's 2 years old $4,000 down $350 a month for 78 months! You end up paying $30,000 for a used car who's MSRP is $24,665.00 Are you telling me there are people who can afford this? Then on top of that they don't even have the inventory but bullshit you just to get you in there so they can waste your time trying to harass you into buying something else! Honestly such a misleading business. I wanted to purchase a hybrid elantra here earlier in the year and passed up an opportunity to get a toyota corolla hybrid because Mike from Hyundai Windward told me they could match the price, I'd just have to wait for the elantra to come in. Fast forward later that month, the hybrid elantra comes in and there's a recall on the seat tensioner so I can't purchase it. I waited for this car to get fixed but to no avail. They didn't even know when it would get fixed! Sounds really fishy to me. Mike then tells me his manager isn't able to match the price. The audacity! After they've been stringing me along when I could have bought a different car. They've contacted me once more when a red elantra hybrid but I passed and they told me I'd be contacted when the white one came in. No response! Moral of the story is buy a Toyota at mapunapuna where you won't get a $5000 market adjustment fee and actually get good service. That's where I bought my awesome corolla. Hey Windward Hyundai, Thanks for the holiday card that I received today with the great deal coupons. Unfortunately, the coupons expired one week ago and are no longer good. Pretty much epitomizes my experience with your service department. I think that the people who work there are overall professional and nice, but there seems to be systemic issues that get in the way of providing decent service. I bought my car at Windward, but service got progressively worse between 2018 and 2022 when I finally switched to Tony Hyundai Waipahu. Even though I live in Kaneohe. How bad? Mostly small things like progressively longer wait times, excessively long times to check the car out after service was complete. There were a couple times when my keys had been improperly labelled and/or misplaced and it took a while to find them. The last straw was trying to replace my latch on my back hatch. After about 2-3 months, several visits, about 3 wasted hours waiting at the service department only to be told the part was incorrect and had to be reordered, and many phone calls-- I just gave up. I called Tony Hyundai - they ordered that part based on my description over the phone, part came in about a week and I made just one single trip where it was fixed within an hour or so. So - youʻre nice people and I hope you get your act together. In the meantime, Iʻll just stay with Waipio. read more

Service side: In February 2024 I scheduled a recall fix and saftey check appointment for my 2012 Accent on the website which allows bookings and gives service appointment confirmation emails. I called to ask how long the recall could take and they said they didn't have my appointment information because online bookings don't show up in their system, so they scheduled one for me on a different day because apparently they were closed on the day I originally booked. Service drop off was fine but I didn't get any service updates while I waited. I saw my car in the lot a couple hours later and found out it was done. I didn't receive any paperwork so I had to google to find out that the recall was a steering wheel lock that they left in my car. They didn't do the saftey check because one of my taillights was out and they wanted me to pay FIFTY FIVE DOLLARS to repair it. I thought that was really high so I said I'd get it fixed myself. I went to Lex Brodie's on Queen (highly recommend, I love them) later that week and they fixed it and did my saftey check for a total of $32.95 so only charged me like $8 for the repair. Sales side: I scheduled a test drive of a 2024 Elantra hybrid since I'd be waiting for my Accent service. I got a couple texts and a call to confirm the test drive before my appointment, which I answered. When I got to the sales side I think there was only one Elantra hybrid on the lot and it was in the middle of their inventory lot and I think I waited 30 minutes for them to get it out. I ended up buying the Elantra for the Windward Hyundai MSRP which was $30,950 for a total of $33,261.63 with taxes and fees. I looked at Jerry V/Airport Hyundai after and I think their MSRP was lower. My biggest issue with the sales side is that THEY GAVE ME A BROKEN KEY FOB. I received two and only used one and realized the next day the other one didn't work. It was a huge ordeal to get it fixed. I live in town so I made a (phone) appointment (because online booking doesn't actually book) at the airport Hyundai and had to take off work and wait an hour 15 minutes for them to tell me that yep the key chip was broken and they had to order a new one, then wait 16 days for them to get a new fob in and had to take off work to go in again last week and wait 45 minutes for them to reprogram it. Airport Hyundai said they asked Windward Hyundai if they could provide compensation after the first visit but Windward Hyundai never responded. read more

Do not buy a car from them unless you want a headache from hell. Bought a car from them in October of 23. They let me drive it off the lot without temporary plates on it, so I had to return the next day to get them to put plates on it. In December, my temporary plates expired & I had to call them to see what was happening. They explained they had LOST my paper work & needed me to come back in. I went back in... no one had any idea why I was there. 20 minutes later, they finally figure it out and bring all the paperwork for me to sign. & told me I had to get a failed safety so waited another 30 minutes for that. In February, my temporary plates expired AGAIN, so I called.. They said they never filed the paper work for my plates/registration so i'd have to come back in for new plates and another failed safety. Wasted an hour and a 1/2 of my time that day. It is now the end of March and since I know how this dealership operates... I called them yesterday (since my failed safety expires), the salesman asked me to text him and he would check when he was done with a test drive.... never heard back. My husband then called and another salesman told him the title clerk had left for the day but he would call him first thing this morning at 8am! Guess what? He never did! My husband called back & now again the salesman cannot get ahold of the title clerk & says he will call him back. At this point i'm convinced they will have to take my car back as I am relocating to the mainland in a few months and it CANT go on a boat unless it has plates/registration. Absolutely the WORST experience we have EVER encountered with a Service Center. ** I will be gathering reports from other military families and sending everything to the legal office on base in attempts to get this horrendous business black listed. Many of us military families are a one vehicle family, and for a Service Center to have our car for this long because of their incompetence and disorganization is unacceptable. ** Windward has had our vehicle for 113 days, and has done absolutely NOTHING but dodge our calls, emails, change their stories (and repair cost amounts) multiple times. 113 days and they have not even BEGUN work on our vehicle. It took them from Nov 22-Jan 30th just to get us PRICING on our repairs. (They claim it took them that long to hear back from Big Hyundai on things). We asked for 3 weeks for them to produce the diagnostic paperwork as to why our vehicle needed a new engine after initially they said it "passed the test and the engine was fine". But then suddenly after a new test, we needed a new engine. They refused to call us back or produce the diagnostic paperwork for a month straight. We have had to physically drive 30 minutes to the service center TWICE just to get any kind of answer from them. Once we received the paperwork, it didn't even match what they initially told us. You can find the "service advisors" on their personal phones, and chatting with coworkers any time you go, but don't expect a call back about your vehicle. Six weeks ago we told them to go ahead on a certain repair, and that we would "let them know" on the other overpriced repairs that they wanted. The manger Damon said they would order a certain part and that we should expect it to be done in about 4 weeks. It's been SIX and we have not heard a SINGLE THING. I've called and left messages for the last 2 days and no one's called back. So my husband went today in person to check. THEY HAVE NOT EVEN STARTED ANY REPAIRS. They thought they were "waiting for us to get back to them on the other repairs". (We made it very clear to fix the one issue, and that we would most likely NOT be using them for the rest) They had even given us that time line for competition.... So now they have had our car for over 3 months and haven't done a dang thing. Run away as fast as you can, and don't ever buy a Hyundai. Already had to have an entire engine replacement 2 years ago, (a car with 77k miles) gave Windwards sister store (Jerry V's) 5 k for repairs on this vehicle last summer. And now they want another 6 k and claim it needs another engine on TOP of that 6 k. Nothing like paying $450 a month for a vehicle we don't even have.... read more

Bought a 2020 Hyundai Sonata from Windward Hyundai and it was a good experience without a lot of that nasty car buying experience that makes me dread a visit to one of these dealerships. Dealt with salesman Jay Lee who was a really nice guy and the sales team he used to close the deal were professional, friendly and organized. When I took the car home, I discovered a problem of a defective driver's frontside mirror and discolored chrome molding in which they promptly said to bring it in to get it detailed further. The chrome molding cleaned up beautifully but the mirror was found to be defective. So they ordered the part and 2 weeks later, the part arrived and I was immediately contacted to make an appt to bring the car in. Today I brought it in and was helped by a really friendly gracious woman by the name of Lei and the awesome service guy Lou who told me that they would change the part and have me out of there in about a half hour! As promised I got my car back and all fixed! Mirror was new and off I went. I am really pleased with the service I've received from the group of people that work here! They seem like one big happy family in a car dealership that care about their clients! Keep up the good service and work! I'll be recommending your services to whomever needs a new vehicle!
