We have loved Windy's for many years, although we don't go frequently because it's pricey. My son loves sushi so we went for his birthday recently. The fish was fresh, but sadly, the sushi was bland and nothing really stood out to us. The best thing we had was the calamari. Far too expensive ($190 before tip for 4 people) for mid sushi. Our local sushi dive is better and would've been half the price. Our server did a great job, and the ambiance is excellent as well. But we probably won't be back based on the sub-par sushi. read more

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here. We made reservations the night before. I had a response a few hours later that they could get me a reservation slightly later than my original request. Upon arrival we were immediately seated. Server was so friendly that my three year old was certain the waiter was going to be his new best friend. Food came out surprisingly fast which we liked but our server always checked in to see if we'd prefer if he had the kitchen slow it down, have things come out together or separate, etc. Kimchi edamame is a must! Entrees were really good and we also enjoyed the sushi rolls. I enjoyed upgrading my entree to a 4 course meal because the soup and salad were both very tasty. The best part of this place was the awesome private tea rooms. I'm not sure how hard or easy it is to get a tea room without a reservation so we would likely always make a reservation just to be certain. She was wonderful but should have checked on us more frequent. The ambiance was made up for some because we were in a private tea room. First time back here since late 70's. Yes it's been a long time. That was a date night for Prom. Can see why this place is still running strong. Only open Thursday, Friday and Saturdays. Busy place with great service. Had the Calamari appetizer. Came piping hot and just perfectly cooked. Not rubbery like most places serve. Special sauce was a perfect match with just the right amount of hot mustard. We also had panko shrimp, wonton soup and Wendy's salad. In all everything was very good. My husband and I went to this restaurant for a date night with high hopes. We read plenty of good reviews and were rather excited, unfortunately our experience was sub-par. Our edamame came out cold and the pork in the katsudon dish was soggy and chewy. The sukiyaki also came with chewy beef, burnt vegetable edges, and somehow a cold mushroom on top! My husband and I hope that we either got the not so popular dishes or caught them on a bad day. The good news: it's a cute restaurant with great vibes. It's literally been 15 years since we've been here. It was awesome! Place has really been cleaned up. Hostess and Server were very attentive. The menu has been revamped with great options for everyone. The tea rooms are nice and private. Everything we ordered was on point! Apps were great, food was piping hot, and very large portions. We each literally took half of our entrees home. Sushi menu looks great, will be trying that out next time. Oh, yeah, nice cocktails on the menu as well! First time guests. Food good. Service lacking. Ordered Hamachi Petals, Spider Roll, and the Senior's Tempura Shrimp Plate. Food was delicious and the fish was fresh; however our server (Alexa) did not bring the tempura sauce with the dish. We waited awhile for Alexa to come back to check on us and asked for the sauce but she forgot yet again. I exited our booth to find her and reminded her we were waiting for the sauce and also ordered the spider role. She finally brought the tempura sauce, though my husband had already eaten most of the dish as he was hungry. When Alexa brought my spider roll, I had to ask for ginger and wasabi. Another wait when again she could have brought it with the order. Lastly, she brought our bill and asked if we wanted dessert. Husband ordered ice cream. When she came back to process our payment, she thanked us for coming. Yet again - we had to remind her we were still waiting for ice cream. Arrived for reservation promptly at 6:40 PM, they took our order and we waited until 7:40 PM when I opted to ask about our order as we hadn't been served anything. We left at 8:00 PM and found online there was a new owner, The table next to us waited for a roll for an hour and were also neglected on an update. Service was awful, experience was not at all worthy of our time. Worst ruined restaurant experience ever. Which is sad because the restaurant is nice with great ambiance and the food was good. But I felt the management of guests is driving customers away, likely due to the b.y.o.b. Which seems to allow loud obnoxious guest to spend hours there getting stupid drunk and being loud and completely kills the ambiance for the entire restaurant. Never again for me. My experience: Wife took me here for my birthday. There was a group across from us that were getting so loud we could hardly hear ourselves talk. When we complained to the waitress (very nice) she explained they are regulars and do that frequently and will ask them to quiet down. That just made it worse and they started talking trash and making fun of us. One imparticluar, I bet they know who, a blonde drunkard with a foul mouth worse than a sailor needs a cork for her mouth and the wine bottle. 2 stars because the space is nice and food was good. Certainly could be a nice place, but clearly driving customers away when management/staff allows "regulars" to act a fool. I honestly think they need to do away with the b.y.o.b. Was visiting Ogden last week and had a hankering for some sushi, so a friend recommended Windy's. Filled out their online request form for a tea room and they responded quickly to confirm our request for dinner that evening. The server was wonderful, so friendly, and gave great recommendations! Our favorite was the Lemonade, which I was hesitant to try because I'm not a huge lemon fan, and it was fantastic! Very mild lemon flavor, not overpowering at all. Also had the Misia, Playboy, and Mars rolls, all on soy paper because I'm not a fan of seaweed. They were all soooo good! How good, you ask? Recommended by a good friend of ours to this place and decided to check it out myself and give it a try. Heard about the spectacular private quarters for dinning like how it is in Japan. So we called in 15 mins prior to arriving and reserved a private room. Good thing we called because they are only open from 5:00pm to 10:00pm ONLY. They accommodated our request because they were not that busy today (~7pm'ish on a Saturday). Arrived and parked in their little parking lot adjacent to the restaurant. Very convenient parking. From the outside driving, you simply cannot judge a place by its looks. This place is a jewel. Walked into the restaurant and was greeted by spectacular display of their cuisine that they offered in a display case and by the Attendant. She kindly fretted us and asked if we had reservation to which we did and after less than three mins, we were walked to our private room. The nice lady advised us to take our shoes off first before entering as it is a custom in Japan to take your shoes off before entering a secluded dinning area. This is truly for most traditional Asian families (if you come to my house, I will ask you politely to take your shoes off. ) Our waitress then came in a few minutes later and got our drinks and set our silverwares (napkin wrapped with a folk and chopsticks). After she brought our drinks in, we ordered our meal. Since it was our first time there, we asked what was recommended. She advised that all of the food were great. We simply ordered some veggies tempura, a few Nigiri sushi especially the tuna and salmon, a chicken salad (which is the best salad I've ever tasted), fried rice for the little one and my wife ordered a beef teriyaki dish. Let's just say that, the food here, IS SIMPLY AMAZING!! Now, I'm not saying that because I'm Asian and I've eaten at a lot of Asian places of Japanese origin, but simply that IT IS GOOD FOOD HERE! I think I've only left one other terrible food review in my life This is the first time I (we) have EVER left that much food on a table Starting with appetizers the edamame was cold and mushy Stuffed crab salad jalapeños were ok, no flavor All the nigiri was dull looking and mushy, I ordered a Vegas roll, again, no flavor and it was luke warm. The server (1 of 2 for the entire restaurant) was super nice but I couldn't even finish ordering appetizers and he was gone. As a foodie people often ask what my favorite meal is. I've had the same answer for years and it still holds true. The beef teriyaki dinner at @windyssukiyaki in Ogden. It's my go to celebration meal. My son and I have birthdays two days apart and my dad has been taking us there for our birthday dinners since my son was a little boy. He turned 21 this week and both of us still want to have our birthday meals there! Fun fact, this meal is not even on their menu anymore but they still let us order it. You can get the beef teriyaki in other meals, but we like a lot of it! Be sure to get the soup and salad because they are delicious! My favorite salad of all time. I dare you to find a better beef teriyaki. It can't be done, I've tried. It's the best in all the land. Go eat here Utah. Fav place! Never disappoints. I've been coming here since I was a kid and I honestly have never had better shrimp than here. SO yummy!

We reserved a private tea room and LOVED the ambiance (please note, you will need to remove your shoes if you reserve a tea room), but what we loved the most was the service! Our drinks were never even close to empty, our server remembered our names and was quite personable! I took one star off b/c I (personally) have had better tasting sushi (pics posted), but having said that, my husband loved his sushi rolls! The gyoza were delicious, and my 4 year old daughter devoured a gyoza, her rice and tempura veggies - but not so much her teriyaki chicken.
