I honestly do not understand how this place has good reviews. Not one dish we ordered was good. We ordered Szechuan chicken, chicken Lo mein and almond chicken. The almond gravy was literally water, I thought they accidentally gave egg drop soup but it had no flavor whatsoever. The Lo mein also has no flavor, barely coated with any sauce. The Szechuan is ok on the sauce but no heat, and just sub par. Not only did I wait 50 minutes after they said 10, it was a horrible meal. Utterly disappointing and I'm a fan of cheap Chinese food. I also never write reviews but felt compelled to not let others think this is actually a 4 star Chinese joint. read more

This is hands down my favorite Chinese food joint and I've tried a lot of Chinese food restaurants. The food is excellent and the portions are large. I don't care for how the interior of the restaurant looks and sometimes the workers have off days and can be rude, which is the only reason I didn't give them five stars. The meals seemed eerily similar even though they were from opposite ends of the Chinese food spectrum. They definitely go by the quantity over quality premise here. FINALLY great Chinese food! We have been searching it seems like forever for decent Chinese food in the Oakland county area and I think we have finally found it! Assured that their Tso's wouldn't be what I was looking for, I decided to try something new for the first time. Truth be told, I have no idea what good Moo Shu Chicken should approach but I tried theirs and it was pretty good. Plenty of cabbage and mushrooms with nice pieces of white meat chicken in a sweet and savory sauce with a side of hoisin to spread over the "pancakes". I liked the Moo Shu a little better over the white rice but it was a solid dish and there was a lot of it! Their spring rolls are some of the best I've had too. They had a little more flavor than usual and cooked perfectly instead of being fried to death. Lastly, the Spicy Pepper Chicken is a little of a misleading moniker. There were definitely some hot peppers mixed into the combination of peppers, snap peas, etc. but they were all whole so there was NO heat at all, until you actually eat one of the peppers alone. That said, the dish was solid and probably somewhat healthy? Wing's Garden isn't my usual spot but I'll likely try them again. I have been ordering take out from Wing's Garden since I moved to Ferndale. There serving sizes are generous and their food is delicious.

I had very high hopes for this place after reading all the reviews and pulling up to a full parking lot. On a Saturday evening the place was pretty busy both takeout and dine-in customers. Now on to the food. I order a sesame chicken combination that came with plain fried rice, an egg roll and a dinner roll. Upon receiving my food all I could smell was garlic. The rice didn't have any flavor barely tasted fried. The chicken was lightly breaded not thick like most places. Not the best sesame chicken. Egg roll is bean sprout nothing special. Overall price is great for the portion but based off this meal it's nothing I'd go bragging about. read more

I do not like leaving negative reviews. However, after reading so many words of praise for this place, I had to check it out. I used to go here many years ago under different ownership and the food was so delicious! I ordered lunch two times, once two weeks ago and again today, typical Chinese carryout dishes, chicken egg foo young and today, chicken chop suey. I rarely eat fauz Chinese food like chop suey but had some two weeks ago from a spot in Royal Oak that was SO delicious; I was blown away. Nice crisp sprouts, tender chunks of celery, nice tender pieces of chicken, and lots of it. But it was the sauce...thickened and really delicious. Two weeks ago the egg foo young was burnt, the brown gravy mediocre. Okay - maybe I hit a bad day. Today my chicken chop suey was horrible! The sprouts were very chewy, limp, grayish. (I regret not photographing it.) No celery, mostly sprouts and the chicken was okay but not tender. The sauce was - a disaster. Watery, absolutely no flavor. So I won't be back. It's too bad because this spot is very convenient for me. Maybe dinner is better - but I'll never find out. read more

Use to be good....today our food was unseasoned...no garlic or ginger or even soy in the chicken chopsuey/ Bean sprouts were very over cooked.....left in the take out container for and extra 15 minutes before giving to us ? They are also always stingy with the rice. There "fried rice" is nothing but leftover white rice with so much soy sauce it is dark brown. Save your money.......go anywhere else. Wings Garden is my favorite Chinese food spot so far in the area. The food taste fresh and is well prepared. The dinner rolls taste like homemade and the staff is so nice and friendly. The best thing I like besides the food is the coziness and cleaniness of the place. You get prompt service as well and the cost won't kill you either. I went out with 2 other people and for the three of us the bill was under $35 bucks and we did'nt scale back. I've been going there for a few years now. Its a great place to eat. read more

This has been our got to 'Go To' place since we moved here from L.A. in '06. The Wonton Soup cures all ills. The Hot-n-Sour soup holds it's own to any we've had, even in Shanghai. The ABC makes my wife very Happy. Another highlight: Egg Foo Young. Trying spicy Kung Pao Shrimp tonight. And the service is friendly...so can't beat this combination. read more

Ordered the Sesame Chicken lunch combo & spring roll. The food was done in under 10 min! Delicious and enough for 2 to be comfortably full. I was in and out so I didn't get a good look around the restaurante, but it's all about the food anyway, and it was top notch! The only thing that was a slight disappointment was the "fried rice," it didn't seem like traditional fried rice. It seemed more like brown rice. Worms in my food!!! Today I visited Wings Garden. I ordered Shrimp, Mixed Vegetable and Garlic Broccoli what I didn't not order were a side of worms. Originally I found one worm wedged in between the broccoli however after looking closer I found 3 additional dead worms. I drove back up to the restaurant expecting to receive a full refund and an apology but instead the Manager only refunded a portion of my bill and explained that she can't do anything about the worms in the broccoli. she stated "they come in the broccoli". I haven't really eaten a whole lot of Chinese food since college mostly because if given the choice, I would chose Thai of Chinese any day. There's more variety and flavor, this coming from a Vegetarian perspective, and it's generally just more fun. I like curry and eggplant together, can you blame me? Well, I just bought a house in Oak Park and since the kitchen isn't exactly complete my roommate and I have been eating out more often than I would ever care to admit. We decided to try Wing's Garden recently because it's like three blocks away and it seems fun and festive from the outside--if it's trying to be a pagoda, how could it not be great? The menu seemed pretty basic with lots of typical Chinese offerings from Egg Fu to Moo Shoo and so on. I ended up orderingI a tofu stir-fry dinner which was served with white rice and egg roll and soup. I enjoyed the stir fry and the portion was actually big enough for me to take some home as a snack later. Despite being fried, I enjoyed the tofu in the dish, the only thing I would change is more baby corn. I'm a sucker for baby corn. They did let me substitute a meatless spring roll for the egg roll and they had a vegetable soup that I selected which actually was pretty great. It was a basic simple broth with fresh veggies in it, like bean sprouts, mushrooms, and napa that were maybe quickly added to the broth and cooked upon ordering; it was perfectly simple and comforting. The meals also came with those delicious large dinner rolls that Chinese restaurants sometimes have and a fortune cookie as one should expect. My friend had the Sesame Chicken, if memory serves, and wasn't so bowled over. He also ordered a soda and apparently, Wing's Garden is one of the last restaurants in the world that does NOT offer complimentary refills on sodas. I had tea so it wasn't a problem. The decor inside was okay but no where near as fun as I thought that this bright red building would be from the outside. It was actually kind of plain with wood trim and beige walls. All I know is that if I owned a Chinese restaurant it would be like little China town exploded--we're talking gold, red, and dragons everywhere--and I mean everywhere. And maybe a koi pond just because. The service was okay, nothing outstanding and nothing to complain about. I would return to Wing's Garden if I had that craving for Chinese, but more likely I would seek out the comforts of Curry Noodle or Pad Thai elsewhere. read more

this is my go-to chinese in ferndale. after testing out fung xeng, hong kong express and a couple others i always return to here. they aren't the best, ahem jade palace, but they are good enough for at least twice monthly. in their favor, they make a really good shrimp in lobster sauce. the rice has actual flavor and isn't dry. they still have hot mustard which they make and is getting harder to get at carryout chinese around here. the sesame chicken still comes with broccoli. if your gonna eat this gut bomb, you need a little fiber to help it come out the other end. the fact that there is no windows in the entire place freaks my boyfriend out. love, juston read more

I've been going to this restaurant for more than 30 years. But at this point I will never, ever go back. It has turned into the absolutely worst run restaurant I've ever been to. Was told 20 minutes for carry out pick up. Showed up in 20 minutes figuring I'd have to wait a few minutes. After waiting more that 20 minutes I thought I'll just wait to see how long it does take. Well, I WAITED 42 MINUTES TO GET MY CARRYOUT. The owners do not seem to be able to get or keep enough help To run the restaurant . The owner was the only person at the front counter, there was only one waitress in the whole place, no busboys, and a look through the kitchen door revealed 3 young people standing around looking like they had never seen a working kitchen in their lives. The whole thing was actually ridiculous and so badly run that I stayed just to see how long it would take before the food came out. .. After all that I was really disappointed to find the quality of the food has gone way downhill. The spring rolls were inedible, just a rolled up rice wrapper with 3 bean sprouts in it. The Chow mein was bland and tasteless. The hot and sour soup was ok, but just ok, not even pretty good. After all that time everyone had lost their appetites. So the dinner was ruined. Wing's Garden is your typical Americanized, non-buffet Chinese dining experiencing. The food is made to order, but they time it just right if you order an entrée with soup and an egg roll. They also provide these really tasty rolls, which seems odd to have with Chinese food...but they're really good! The portion size is enough to share with someone or take home for a second meal. Overall an average experience, but I'd definitely go back. For a Sunday lunch, it was fairly quiet, so I hope they do enough business to stay open. read more

My father has been going to this restaurant for years and often takes us along. I think this is one of the few Chinese restaurants with authentic Chinese food. All others could not stand the test of time. The eggrolls still have bean sprouts and a quality wrap instead of the cheap cabbage substitute most places pass off to you. The vegetable fried rice and soups come highly recommended. I prefer dining Thai these days because there's no quality Chinese joints around any more, but this place is the exception! The wait staff isn't top notch, but gets the job done. Don't go if you're looking for great atmosphere either. read more

This place is right around the corner for me and last night my girlfriend and I decided to try it after reading the reviews on yelp. We ordered the family dinner for two and I must say it is probably enough food for 6 people. I don't know how this place can turn a profit with their portion size. We had the general tso and sweet and sour chicken, better than most Chinese food around here, my girlfriend was disappointed with the egg-rolls but I thought they were adequate. The food here is great. The price is cheap for the amount of food you get. The dinner for two is enough for about four or five. The price is about $20 for the dinner. Includes soup, roll, egg roll, rice and two generous sized portions of choice of several different plates. I love this place. The inside is a little dated but the food is top notch! read more

This place is awesome. Best egg rolls I've ever had, really good egg drop soup, and they give you these sort of sweet rolls with the meal that are absolutely delicious. Prices are pretty standard, but you get so much food that you'll be eating leftovers for days. On top of all that, the employees are fast and friendly, and I've never had them screw up an order. About the only complaint I have is that the parking lot is terribly small for a place that gets so crowded. Even so, give this place a shot if you're ever in the area. read more
