Decided to try a place I haven't tried yet today in downtown. I ordered the hot honey chicken tenders for takeout. The person at register was very friendly. I might have came in at the right time because my food came out quickly too! The inside of the restaurant, while I waited, was clean and roomy. Though rather empty during lunch on a weekday, maybe beside some deliverers. Now, for the food, the sauce covered tenders were sweet and came with a tiny kick. Absolutely loved the flavor in each bite. Though, flavor is a secondary factor when I am eating food. My main opinion comes from its texture. I'm not a fan of it. We haven't ordered from here in years but my child had wingstop recently and was begging to try here also. We got a tender platter and wings with waffle fries and tater tots - over 60$. Everything smelled awesome but wow oh wow. Everything was sooooo salty!!!! Why?! We got lemon pepper, buffalo and garlic parm and only the buffalo was decent although a little too sour. The lemon pepper was more like salt and pepper with a kick of vinegar. The ranch was really sweet and it didn't compliment the tenders at all. Things have changed from what I remember Wings over Lowell as. The food is still good but they eliminated half the flavors. Not to mention the new paint inside??? It looks like a prison now. I've had the food here a few times, and it's always great! That saved it from one-star. Picking up food as a delivery driver, however, has reverted back to being a very unpleasant experience. Employees absolutely do not need to police delivery drivers to the point of watching us hit the pick-up confirmation buttons on our phones! This is not only highly insulting, but it also takes away potential of getting another order nearby to stack. Do you trust drivers or not? If not, don't use third-party delivery services. I used to love this place when it first opened always good and cooked however now every time I ordered on doordash I get undercooked tenders and like other reviewers get stomach cramps/ aches. Honestly fed up with this place. I LOVE their dry rub flavors though. I asked for the wings to be well done and they came cooked just enough. I ordered a LARGE waffle fries (over $5) and basically got a small. I included a picture. That is a complete rip off of my hard earned money, are you kidding me??! Never ordering from here again. I usually stop by for a quick easy lunch. The bone in wings are much better than the boneless and I usually get them in the sweet onion bbq sauce. This time I tried a grilled chicken salad and was really disappointed. The chicken had a strange smell and taste to them....almost tased sour. I figured it was whatever they were marinated in. The salad was just lettuce and some parmesan cheese. I will definitely not be ordering that again. The service is ok. They aren't overly friendly but they get the food out quick. Sunday dinner with family. Watched the Patriots then ordered Wings Over Lowell. Recommended from a friend. 20 min drive for wings but what the heck? Website was pretty easy to use. Picked up the order and the three other orders of my guests. The person at the counter was confused when I offered our order numbers and instead asked for everyone's names (wouldn't order numbers be easier?). Headed home and arrived to find my order of boneless tenders were made as bone in wings which I find disgusting. So no dinner for me. They also forgot to include the drinks if one other order. I called back and the manager refunded my order (she offered to replace the wings or give me a credit but I'm not driving back another 20+ minutes for wings. And to further frustrate me, the $30 tray I usually buy advertises as 2lbs. Normally it was. But the latest visit will be my last. Chicken was OK, a bit dry, but big portion. Guy at the counter was friendly. But what really turned me off was that my feet stuck to the floor, that none of the tables had been wiped down in a while, that there were crumbs all over the booths, and that the same booth that I saw a couple of years ago with a huge rip in it was still ripped. All that was bad enough. But I think it was the loud belch let out by a young woman at the next table that almost made me lose my cookies. I've ordered from Wings Over a number of times the last few months. The quality has been steadily slipping. Today was the final straw. Ordered for delivery 15 wings, honey mustard. They arrived in fairly short order (30 mins or so) but when I opened the black Styrofoam container, my wings were sitting in an inch and a half of cold congealed grease. I don't know if the cook was having a bad day, but this was absolutely outrageous. We've always tipped well on our deliveries (18%), so I'm sure it wasn't directed at me. Let me first start off by saying I frequently bought wings here from time to time since 2012. Never have I ever until now had a terrible experience. Tonight (10/24/19 @ 9:50ish PM), I had ordered a B-17 Bomber, waffle fries, tater tots, and a 2 liter sprite. I noticed something was off since the moment I had the notification saying the order was picked up via DoorDash. Seemed way too quick and too true for things to go the way it did. Oh and another thing that I found weird was how now they don't have their own drivers anymore. The last time I ordered here was almost a month ago (9/29/19) and they still had their own drivers. Nothing wrong with having DoorDash be a partner though. So What happened was I pretty much bought about $30 worth of RAW uncooked chicken wings. Normally I do not go out of my way to complain but this was UNACCEPTABLE. After my findings, I called Wings Over Lowell to tell them that about 90% of my wings were still RAW and barely cooked. The worse part of this is that I only ate TWO of the two dozen and might have eaten RAW chicken!! The manager at the time of speaking told me if I ordered through a third party. I replied yes via DoorDash and I was told well I gotta talk to them about it. Not sure if this is protocol or whatnot but I felt as if I was just being brushed off. The problem was about the RAW food I got from THERE. I wasn't calling to complain about DoorDash so wth? Pictures says everything and more. I'm genuinely greatly disappointed in this experience. I was very EXCITED to hear about the new Wings Over Lowell opening during Folk Festival weekend in Downtown Lowell. After much anticipation, weI finally made our way to Downtown Lowell to sample the menu. After what seemed like many minutes of viewing the menu displayed on the LCD screens and letting other customers go before us, we finally made up our minds and placed our order. We got the F-16 (15 Wings), Cajun Waffle Fries with Cheese, and a 2 Liter of Diet Coke which came to about $19.00. There were just too many flavors to try and they allow 1 flavor for every 5 pieces of wings. Since the Mo loves hot spice, he insisted on the "After Burner" and we also tried the Spicy Teryaki and Golden BBQ. Although the wings were meaty and the textures were right on, the flavors were not that impressive. The Mo complained that the "After Burners" were not hot enough and seemed like it was just dressed in the same Huy Fong Chili Garlic Sauce we use at home. Since my tolerance of chili is not where his is, I took his word for it. The Spicy Teryaki didn't resemble any teryaki sauces that I was used to and the Golden BBQ flavor was a bit too tangy for me. Maybe next time I will try the Honey BBQ instead. I must admit that they Waffle Fries were amazing! They were fried to perfection and had the right amount of Cajun seasoning! For the optional seasoning, you can choose from Ranch, Cajun, Mesquite, Seven Pepper and Garlic Parmesan. The melted cheese dip ($1.00 extra) was a great compliment to the fries and we didn't even require any ketchup! They looked pretty busy, after all it was a Friday night. As we sat and ate our meal, I noticed that the establishment was very popular with takeout orders with the phone constantly ringing and people walking in to pick up their orders. The delivery service seems to be popular also, I noticed they had at least 2 drivers running in and out and they also had a sign posted for more drivers wanted. With its late hours and nearby proximity to the Umass Lowell Dorms/Conference center, Middlesex Community College and Lowell High School, I truly believe this franchise will be a success! Note: Parking in Downtown Lowell can be tricky and its usually a hit or miss. Obviously this will be not a problem for students or Downtown Lowell employees. Dedicated goers can shell out a few bucks and park at the Leo Roy Parking Garage, literally 2 minutes down the street.
