The food was absolutely amazing! I really enjoyed the specialty rub that they use, a perfect mix of sweet and savory. As for the venue it self I guess they are still pulling things together. Customer service was good. It's a nice spot but there was no air in the building. But I didn't have to wait long. Service was quick. The brisket was good and the Mac-n-cheese was delicious. Ordered yesterday for the family. Everything was amazing! Meat was seasoned well and it was tender. We had chicken, ribs, brisket and chopped beef and sides. This has to be the worst barbecue I have eaten. The ribs were half done like they boiled them and pored liquid smoke all over them, the chop beef had a good favor but very salty, I didn't bother to eat the chicken because the liquid smoke was overwhelming. I ordered a 3 meat plate so I would have lunch and dinner. I have no idea what has changed but it's Horrible!!!! I think I'll drive the hour to the other location. When I compare this place to the historical Dallas BBQ places, it comes in dead last on the BBQ meter. The line must be surely be due to the lack of choices in cedar Hill. First of all, good all around bbq. All of the meats are very good. The potatoes are great. The servings of are big enough to feed 2 people on most things. Now some things they need to fix. 1) when you order your food you shouldn't have to turn your order into the meat cutter, the female taking the order should do that. 2) you shouldn't have to pack your own order once its ready, that's the servers job. Instead of sitting behind the counter playing on her phone, while the orders are ready. Never had to pack up my order at any other restaurant. 3) please please turn on the lights, its like walking into a cave. It's not a night club, even though the music is some times to loud. I had such an amazing baked potato at this location. First off the potato was huge by itself not including the large portion of cheese butter sour cream and meat inside. The portions of meat were very large I had the chicken and brisket. The chicken was juicy and had some amazing seasoning on it. The brisket was smoked just right. I even had a hint of brown sugar in there somewhere. Long story short I will be back when i can catch them open. read more

I think they have pretty good food but my initial experience at the register is always discouraging because the staff are never friendly or social. It's an "I'm only here to take your money" experience. For that reason, I typically choose other equally good BBQ locations instead of this one. read more

When they first opened the food was so good! The smell of the bbq all the way from the parking lot was amazing. In the past 3-6 months we've been going alot less because the brisket especially seemed way more fatty and greasy. I'm not sure if they started buying cheaper meat, but it was definitely noticeable. This BBQ is truly the best. The seasoning is so addictive. If you want falling off the bones, tender, seasoned, no need for bbq sauce ribs. Then you need to come here. I have had their sausage, ribs, and brisket and GUUT LAWD it's all so amazingly delicious. Now the sides, they are just okay - nothing to brag about but who goes to a bbq joint looking for good "sides" anyway right? No one. We just want some good bbq. Now one thing i will say is that, the portions of meat is much smaller at the cedar hill location vs the plano location. Why do restaurants that? Come to the south side of town and try to cut back. COVID 19 Worry: Cashier having conversation with other customers with her mask pulled below her nose. I asked her to lift her mask up over her nose when she waited on me. She reluctantly did. She asked for the manager when I told her I did not have an order number. I asked if I could give her my telephone number. She described the format for the order number. Then, called the manager from the kitchen. Manager pulled her mask down below her nose to talk to her. I asked cashier if that was the norm--mask below nose. "No," she said, "she just did it to talk to me." So In the kitchen it must be back and forth between safety and convenience. I told cashier that if the mask doesn't cover nose it's worthless. Exhaling from nose or mouth can spread COVID 19. As I was leaving, she had pulled her mask below her nose to talk to customers waiting near counter. Followed safety procedure for food, so I thought it should be ok. Being in the store where employees don't follow safety precautions increased my worry. Had to attend to a sick relative Monday. Then the worry became worse. Exhaling from nose or mouth spreads COVID 19. Someone may be infected and have no symptoms at all. Masks do more to prevent an infected person from spreading it. Masks do protect the one wearing it to a lesser degree. A treat turned into a trick. Will never return. Brisket dry and overpowered with smoke flavor. Same with chicken. Pork ribs and sausage pretty good. Expense not worth the hype. My worry not worth the choice. read more

The staff is rude, discourteous, and unprofessional. They don't allow call-in orders. You can't order and return for your order. The only kind of chicken they have is leg quarters. For those of you who don't care about good service, this might be the place for you. But great customer service is just as important as the quality of the food.
