In June 2015, I bought a 2007 Accord from a private party. In April 2016, the check-engine light came on and it began surging on acceleration. After much research, I learned that a part called the Spool Assembly was likely not getting enough oil pressure because it was clogged, which would create the symptoms I was having. I went to 2 different independently owned garages and received repair quotes around $900 for parts and labor. I have repaired my vehicles before (body work, alternators, oil changes, electrical issues) and tried to replace the Spool Assembly myself - big mistake. The part is hard to get at and even harder to remove and replace. It was Saturday. I stopped half-way through the job, drove to Winter Honda in another car and met a friendly Service Advisor, Laura Santalaya. When I need parts or service, I rarely do business with a dealership because of the high costs. However, I realized that I relied heavily on the Accord and decided I needed professional help. I prepared to pay a dealership rate to get the Accord fixed properly. After explaining the problems I was having with the car, Laura began to research my concerns and brought a mechanic into our conversation. In a few minutes, they knew what the problem was. It was late in the day on a Saturday. Laura told me that the dealership could begin work on the Accord first thing Monday morning. I explained that I would have to have the Accord towed-in. She showed me where to leave it parked for Monday morning and how to fill out the Early Bird envelope. She told me another Service Advisor, Vin Parr, would take care of me on Monday morning. After speaking with Laura, I felt like I could relax and things would be ok. I returned home, had a beer and arranged to have the Accord towed the next day. Sunday, I left the Accord at Winter Honda and early Monday morning I got a call from Vin. He told me the Accord was being looked at and that he would call me with an update. An hour or so later, he called with a $500 estimate and added that the car could be ready that afternoon. I was very pleased and gave the go-ahead. A couple hours later, I was at the dealership picking up the Accord. Vin answered all my questions and explained that the Spool Assembly likely failed because the previous owner did not change the oil regularly. This resulted in engine oil sludge and dirt, which clogged the Spool Assembly. The repair costs came in closer to $400 and I couldn't have been happier. On January 5, 2017, the check-engine light came back on and the Accord again began to surge on acceleration. I was driving in Antioch at the time and drove straight to Winter Honda. I felt better when I arrived and was greeted by Vin. I explained that I was having the same problem again. I read somewhere that repairs were guaranteed for 12,000 miles and/or 1 year. I had put 14,000 miles on the car since the last repair and mentioned this to Vin. He told me not to worry about it and let a mechanic figure out what was causing the problem. He offered to take the car and have the dealership shuttle service drive me to my home in Byron. However, I had an appointment in the afternoon and opted to bring the car in early the next morning. As promised, Vin met me the following morning at 7:30 and got the car in for repair. An hour later, Vin approached me in the customer waiting area where I was having a cup of coffee and working on my laptop. He explained that the mechanic determined the Spool Assembly was working; however, the smaller cheap oil filter that was installed at the last oil change by a quick lube oil change service had failed and caused the Spool Assembly to malfunction. He brought me into the repair bay where I spoke with the mechanic and he showed me the bad oil filter and how it was clogged. Vin had the mechanic install a new filter, which also required an oil change, and did not charge me a cent....!! The Accord now runs great!! So, I really wanted to share my story with others about the great service I received from Vin and Winter Honda - not once, but twice!! These guys are great and I highly recommend them. I had been driving two 1996 Pontiac Grand Prix for over a decade now. One of them blew the head gasket so I parked it with intentions on getting it fixed and back on the road; about four years later the other one blew its head gasket and I was then without a car for about four to five weeks. Man walking the baby to school at 6:30 in the morning in the freezing cold was not fun at all, but I had to do what I had to do. My significant other was growing short in patience and was beginning to snippily suggest used cars for sale here and there; to which I would simply reply "I'm not buying a used car!" Anywho, I had previously gone to Winter Honda and took a very quick test drive of the 2020 Honda Accord Sport. I liked the car and told Mike I'll be back with all cash once the "thing" that I was working on came through. Fast forward about three weeks and the "thing" I was working on did indeed come through. I immediately called Mike and left a voicemail something of the sort "Hey Mike, you probably don't remember me but this is David and I'm coming to buy that Honda Sport. I'm not going to buy it outright like I previously said, but rather I've decided to finance with a down payment of $15,000 but I want a payment of between $300 and $350." I then got finished with the delivery that I was awaiting and got on my bicycle in the cold of night for the very last time (it was about 6 pm and dark). I walked through the door freezing cold from the 5 mile bicycle trek and Mike was standing there awaiting me to get started with the process of putting me into a slick, pearl white 2020 Honda Accord Sport. We went through the normal formalities and he then took the check and discussed my options with the finance manager. Mike then came back and said "Well it's a little over what you wanted but not by much; the payment will be $378." I replied "Yeah, that's cool." and the rest is history. Mike offered and gave me EXCEPTIONAL Customer Service and caring detail to my wants and ultimately put me into a NEW, BEAUTIFUL HONDA! Not to mention I'm only 8 months out of bankruptcy; but actually that's neither here not there as I'm making moves like a BOSS! Go see Mike and get yourself into something SWEET! read more

Friendly vibes the moment I walked in! I was greeted by a pretty young lady named, Laura, at the front desk. I explained my problem to her and she was very professional. My car was shaking like a leaf on a tree! However, since I was dropping my car off late for the next day, she would not be able to follow up with me since she was off the next day. But luckily I ran into Nelson and Vin, both who are former technicians turned into service reps. They were able to identify my problem(engine mounts) by the next morning! They had the parts in stock and told me the car can be fixed by that afternoon! Pricing was actually very reasonable! Usually you hear the dealer is more expensive, but that was not my experience. I did my investigating and called around for prices, only to find the lowest bid was actually at the dealer! Vin showed me the old parts and exactly what went wrong with them, and Nelson went on the test drive with me after to show how smooth my car was running. Let me tell you... Night and day difference! Huge daps to the service staff at Winter Honda! I couldn't be happier with the level of expertise and professionalism I was met with! My Civic and I will be returning when we are due for an oil change. Which, might I add, is better priced than quick lube services! $54.95 to change the oil on my Civic?!? Most places are charging me $90.00 due to having the 0W-20 oil! Almost twice as much! I'll never go anywhere ever again! ***UPDATE*** I specifically wrote this review so that this dealer could be recognized for the amount of effort and professionalism they showed me. Meanwhile, YELP has decided this review will not be recommended. Frankly, I find that insulting. I spent time and effort writing this. At the same time, I notice some people that write one review in their life and their review stays up for everyone to see. This is a prime example that yelp has either a biased staff, or a poor algorithm. Whichever it is, I'm less than satisfied that this platform is highly regarded when people are looking to share an amazing experience. I just purchased a new 2019 Honda Civic Si Coupe from Winter Honda in Pittsburgh, California driving past two other dealerships that are closer to my home where I have purchased at least 8 other Hondas in my lifetime. I did this because of the following reasons: 1) The speed of a reply in establishing a price that I was willing to pay for the car AND the speed and clarity of details for which Michael Bushel (the salesman) was offering the car for sale (very much appreciated); 2) The fact that I was going to buy the car within 48 hours and he offered to get any Honda for me in a dealer exchange if what they had in stock did not satisfy my needs and wants (very thoughtful); 3) Pointed out certain unique benefits that he could offer me such as the LoJack theft recovery identification system (I have had wheel locks before but never a GPS locator for police); 4) Superior post-purchase customer service where he personally assured me that all of the accessories/services that I wanted and negotiated for had arrived at the Parts department at the agreed upon discounted prices (full gas tank, side impact resistant strips, weather resistant floor and trunk mats, spare tire kit); 5) Making 100% sure on at least 6 phone calls and 3 emails that I was satisfied with my new purchase. Quite frankly I had called another salesman at a competing Honda dealership that I had purchased another Honda from expecting him to be happy to rapidly assist me in getting the 2019 Civic Si coupe but this was not the case. Michael Bushel is a VERY personal and hard-working Honda Sales Manager that I will definitely contact for my next Honda purchase. We purchased 2020 Honda Odyssey minivan in January. Finally, after having been shopping for literally a couple of years for ideal multi use vehicle! This reflects hours to days of visits to many car lots and many interactions with sales people, both online and in person. Kyle at Winter Honda in Pittsburg, CA, stands out as one of the best! Kyle helped us to finalize our purchase contract with extremely service oriented and knowledgeable negotiations, making sure we had a great deal, not only with the car, but with our experience. Purchasing a new car is a big deal and should be treated with the respect and celebration it deserves. Kyle certainly helped us to celebrate our fortune, because it was obvious he was present with us and truly cared about our satisfaction, not just closing a sale. He insisted that not only was he himself out to please, but representing a company that truly prides itself with good service. Family run since the 50's with current family member, owner visiting the site almost every day to make sure everything is running right!! This attitude is apparent throughout the company into the very responsive and respectful service department as well. I have been buying cars since 1970 and I just had the best buying experience ever at Winter Honda....seriously! It's always about the people, right? My salesperson was Mike Bushel, actually a sales manager there. When I left, I felt like I had made a new friend, someone I really enjoyed talking with and sharing with. And even more importantly, I trusted that he was honest and sincere. Mike stayed for a long time past when he was "scheduled" to leave for the day and never acted rushed or hurried. He took care of details that sales people almost never do anywhere else, such as getting my phone set up in the car and walking me through other convenience setups. He went way out of his way to make the buying experience easy, informative and comfortable including remembering to remove my FastTrack device and garage door opener from my trade-in (which I would have forgotten). And I also want to commend Winter's finance manager. He was warm, friendly and personable; not what I have been used to dealing with other finance managers. He made some extra accommodations to make my final purchase more appealing and satisfying; he didn't have to do those things. So I actually enjoyed my time with him also. Both people told me this was the best dealership they had worked at, and it sounds like the owner has a lot to do with making it a great place to work, and a place that customers will want to come back to. I just bought my third Honda Civic EX this past weekend. The Civic EX I purchased was actually the first one I found online Friday night. I did, however, look at several more Civic Ex's that night. Matthew, from Winter Honda, was actually the second salesman to contact me Saturday morning. The first salesman to contact me did not actually have the vehicle on the lot and I would have to wait a couple of days for them to receive the car and detail it before showing it. Plus, that particular dealership was not local to where I live. So, when Matthew called, we spoke for a few minutes about the car and then he sent me a few more pics via text of the car. The fact that Winter Honda is local to where I live was the first selling point. Upon meeting him, he was so personable and very knowledgeable. He took his time in showing me the car and explaining all the wonderful features that have been added since my last Honda Civic purchase. I was sold almost from the start. Just to add, yesterday I had an alarm system put in my car. Due to the installation, almost all of the settings in my car were gone, plus I had forgotten most of what he had told me...there's so much to learn bout all the features!!! They are so God . So much was going but my starter was going out so I had to find a car ASAP. To fix the problem they saying 500, and just spent 200 on a battery . So I'm like that can just go to a use new car. Why not right ?.... who with all the stuff going on with Covid my score with down and note I have to buy a car. But not as I'm looking apply I'm not qualified outside of having a couple signer or having more; and I better FEICO score. I've been driving my Toyota Highlander since 2002 (!) - we knew it was time for something newer! Now my hubby had gone by Winter Honda on Thursday asking a few questions, you know the typical "I'm looking for a used car, $15,000 out the door!" Sam Gheit was very patient with him. My hubby told me he didn't see anything, I had loved my Toyota Highlander so much it was going to be difficult to get me into anything else. Well....Friday came and we hit car shopping really hard. We drive to Walnut Creek, saw a few cars...nothing really stood out. After a few more stops we decide to head home to Oakley but we pass Winter Honda on the way.....hmmmm, why not stop by and take another look. My husband and I came in late Friday, June 5th looking at used cars. After Sam greeted us, of course he remembered my husband, we got to seriously looking at the CR-V. I took a test drive and discovered it was perfect for me!! We found what we wanted for a fair price and the service was great! It was time to send my mom's ancient BMW to pasture. It was 20 years old. Even though the cost to keep it running was beyond its value, my mom loved that car. We had to find her something safer and less expensive to drive though. The new car had to have all the luxury of the BMW but more affordable to maintain. We checked out Mazda, Nissan and Toyota but nothing seem to fit. Finally went to Winter Honda. Kyle greeted us right away with a friendly smile. Not the "sales-y" fake smile we had seen all week at other places. He quickly made a connection with my mom. He had recently traded in his old truck that held a ton of sentimental value (and zero safety features). He knew exactly what my mom was going through. With that he introduced her to the new Honda Civic. Bam. She was impressed and, all of a sudden, excited about getting a new car. Kyle made the whole experience easy and drama-free.
