I am a South Buffalo resident and whenever I was in the mood for affordable pizza, I would always turn to Wiseguys. Without questioning other options, I stepped into Wiseguys last week for a slice. I was shocked when the pleasant cashier announced a whopping increase in price. I reluctantly handed her the cash, knowing that I would at least be getting a reasonably-sized slice with sweet sauce, crust and nice texture. Although, annoyed, I walked out with the familiar Wiseguys pizza box, eager for a delectable snack. When I arrived home and opened the box I felt Disappointed, Betrayed, and Ripped Off. My expensive slice was an anticlimax. I stared at an amorphous quadrangle that looked like it was carved out from the inside of a pie as an after thought. It didn't even have a full crust! I suppose I'll have to head to Abbot road rather than Seneca Street for pizza. read more

I update my rating one star because even though I consider this to be one of the best pizzerias in buffalo.. they NEVER have slices when I stop by; which is at least once a week. There's nothing like a gut punch when they respond "that will be 20 minutes " of my lunch break just spent waiting to get food. They have the best sauce, perfectly sweet and they have ample size slices. At this point I don't even like going anywhere else because this place is such great proximity and such great food! We got a small cheese and pep with garlic crust. Ordered online. Came at the time it said. Took an hr , very reasonable. I like the parmesan sprinkling. The sauce tasted almost like spaghetti sauce. Which is a good flavor and lends to the uniqueness. I didnt taste any garlic in the crust, maybe they forgot . Good amount of cheese and sauce, wish there was a little more pepperoni. Good amount of char, but flirted with the burnt line a tiny bit, but the bottom of the pizza was perfect. Was not overly salty either which is huge. All in all I would order from them again, and I like the unique Italian seasoning flavor. Love the branding too ! Good job youse wise guys Update: ate the rest of the pizza, cold . And marveled at the perfectly airated dough and again the flavor . Awesome that a representative commented back. I feel valued as a customer and it definitely makes me want to come back and reccomend to others. I have been seeing a lot of pizza places gain in instagram and social media popularity, but have completely lacked in customer service ( as also reflected in their reviews) . Tonight ordered a large pizza, twenty wings extra crispy, and an extra bleu cheese was charged $43. What I got was a pizza that tasted gross, 20 under-done wings, and no extra bleu cheese. I called to let them know and was informed I could either wait to have them redo it, or get a credit for next time.. I don't feel like waiting again, nor feel like giving them another shot and using their credit I would just like my money back.. Their reply, we don't do refunds.. Update: 5/5. Wise guys pizza has significantly improved their operation. Over the past few months I've noticed a dramatic rise in their quality and consistency. Their re-training and change in hours for improvement has had noticeable and positive effect. Their pizza is well-balanced and delicious featuring a sweet sauce, crispy pepperonis and a medium-thickness dough. Their wing and finger sauces are thick and plentiful. GREAT and creative selection of sauces that are generously applied (it's the worst when places are skimpy on the sauce, which is not the case here)! Constructive criticism: Individual slices are not always cut from a circular pie and therefore I've bought slices only to come home and realize that I didn't get any crust because they were carved out of a sheet pizza, which was disappointing. Secondly, on the menu it seems like you can only get fingers and fries combo, $12 for 5pc and $19 for 10 pc. with an additional charge for specialty sauces. I wish there were a cheaper option that excluded the fries. read more

My family and I use to frequently order from this place. At least once a week we would order and it was delicious every single time. We stopped ordering about a year ago after constant inconsistency with the food and a lot of times our order was never ready for pickup on time. We decided to try it again tonight. My order was suppose to be ready at 8:12. My husband went to pick it up, it is 8:35 and our ready is still not finished and he claims he is the only patron in the place. We only ordered a small pizza and ten wings. I haven't even had the food yet but at this point I'm expecting it to be another let down if they can't even make the food on time. I would've given a 5 on my first visit because it was amazing the first 2 times. The pizza is really good and so are the wings... when they're fresh. The last few times we have ordered, however, it took at least an hour to get our food delivered and the wings were cold and overdone. The texture was not good. I don't know if we'd go again. Maybe there good just for pickup or dine in. It's disappointing because we are new to the Buffalo area and thought we had finally found a good pizzeria that would be consistent, but as of now, we have not found such a place. Wiseguys pizza made our order quick but our mozerella sticks seemed to not be done all the way and weren't very crispy. The blt sub, turkey sub and pizza sub we ordered were really good though! to start off I'd say it's defintaly one of the best pizza joints in south Buffalo when ever I'm out that way, this is my place for pizza for sure. Steak hoagies also very good the cheese sauce they use makes it great until recently I was out that way and ordered a steak hoagie and noticed they did it differently and just used melted cheese instead of this good cheesy sauce like substance they used the prior time I ordered and also messed up the hoagie by putting the opposite I asked for on but did come thru and actually deliver a brand new one made correctly so overall, pretty good except for 1 experience and I have ordered from here several times. I ordered a few subs for delivery and somehow my order was lost because it wasn't delivered. I called after and hour of waiting, and they apologized re - took my order and said it would be out right away. The driver showed up, and wouldn't take any money, so that was nice, but that isn't why I gave them a 5 star rating. The reason is the food was so on point that to give them less would've been unfair. Updating to three stars for customer service. Owner called me shortly after my original posting and left a message inviting me to give them a second try. As a result I've removed the original post and will just say that the pie wasn't for me. Thanks for calling. I will be back again but don't necessarily want to be catered to. Just want to try it as it is and see if I have the same experience or if I can just chalk it up to being late night. Going to have to not call in now too since they obviously have my phone number on record. Sorta concerned that with a name like Wise Guys and the call back that I might need to have my brakes checked or get an inspection mirror to look under my car before I start it again. :-) But I'm sure it's just an owner wanting to make the customer have a great experience with his pie. I've had better... I ordered a a sausage and pepperoni pizza and an order of the fried dough. When consumed hot/immediately after it arrived the pizza was mediocre at best. The pepperonis looked like the ones from a lunchable pizza, sausage was good. Sauce was a bit more tangy than I've had before, and was pretty sweet. Crust was greasy, but had a nice blend of chewey and crunchy. I'd put it on par with a decent frozen pizza or bad bar pizza. I tried it cold the next day, and thought it was noticeably better, still not good, but not as bad. The fried dough reminded me of the chicken you'd get from sweet and sour chicken...without the chicken. The sugar and butter on it was good. This was my favorite part of the meal. It was such a disgustingly awesome dish that I could see myself order just this. It tastes good warm, but from the fridge it is even better. I think if you add some cinnamon to it, it'd be pretty amazing. It came with powdered sugar and butter, but that was concentrated on the center part. I added some regular sugar to ramp up the likelihood of diabetes. So, my overall impression of the food is mediocre. I don't plan on ordering from this place again. It wasn't inedible, but it wasn't very good. Since it is pizza, there is only good and better, and this was on the low side of good. The service though, was great. The guy on the phone was friendly, the delivery guy was nice, and the pizza got here around 45mins after I ordered. Those guys get 4 stars, but the food is barely 1.5 stars. Original rating 2 stars. Edit: 9-18-12 I got a message from the owner on here. I def wasn't expecting that, so that reaffirms to me the earlier comment about the service. That is amazing, going above & beyond. So props to them. However, as a Chicagoan, Buffalo style pizza isn't my fav. The fried dough though-that stuff was great, especially cold the next day. And, yes, I did bump the rating by a star after getting a message from the owner....reaching out with that kind of care is extremely rare, and surprising (in a good way). Even though I didn't particularly dig the pizza, if you like the Buffalo style-you might love it, and you know that you'll get outstanding service.
