It looked like a cool bar--and I don't drink, but I assumed they had some bar food I could fill up on. They have a pretty well rounded menu, and I had a cheesesteak sandwich and a bowl of chili. I also tried the fries. Everything was ten out of ten. I'm sure the beer is great here too... but, I don't like beer. Also, the atmosphere was great. As a longtime patron of Wogies, I can safely say this is comfort food at its absolute best. Popular for televised sports, trivia nights, or just a solid happy hour deal, the service is always great and the food never misses. The Philly Cheesesteaks are superb--it's their signature for a reason. I always choose provolone cheese. But the real star is the Krazy Kate's Wings. I've been to the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, and, these are just as good. They offer everything from mild to "Krazy," plus great BBQ and Garlic options. I admire the attention to detail, the carrot and celery sticks that come with the wings are always, fresh, plump and crispy. House-Made Extras: Don't skip the Philly soft pretzels with that Yuengling cheddar beer sauce. If you have room left, the fresh cinnamon rolls are incredible. If you want fantastic bartenders, good bar food, a nice pint, and a place to watch a game - this place is for you. Especially if you get Chris as a bartender. I am from Philly and stumbled upon this bar a few weeks ago on a visit and upon my brief day-long return just HAD to come back here. They treat you like family, they treat you like home, and as long as you treat them with respect - you're in the club. The ambience of Woagies is off the charts. The walk-down-the-stairs to the bar is such an underappreciated art, especially when the interior is top tier. A couple of TVs, a dartboard in the corner, Tarantino-esque. The vibe in there on a Sunday night is perfect for a few pints with your friends, the bartenders are genuine folks - good people. Add in a few medium-spiced wings that will make your stomach do back flips into Tuesday and give you chapped lips that make your entire face burn, and you can't ask for anything more. Honestly, this was delicious in a sinful way BUT I'm giving it 3 stars because it is super greasy. Like I could SQUEEZE oil out from the bread. This might be good if you're drunk and looking for something oily and salty. Otherwise, not something you'll typically eat on a normal day. I had heard good things about the Philly cheesesteaks at Wogies and had to give them a try! We ordered takeout on a Tuesday night, and showed up right around our pick-up window. The place was empty except for just one table, and there was only one person. After just a short wait, we picked up our food and were on our way. The cheesesteak is as good as they say! They bread was soft, the meat +onions/cheese were tasty, and it was a decent size for $16! We also had to try their Italian garbage bread and waffle fries, both of which were also quite good! I usually always just order for delivery at this place. But I decided to actually take a walk and dine in. Walking into the place it's spacious and has a good amount of seating. I was able to get a table right away and our waitress was attentive and helped us out right away. That's a big plus. Ordered 2 Philly cheesesteaks one with cheese whiz and onions and one with provolone and onions. We also ordered a side of waffle fries and I wanted to get a extra side of gravy. (Tip: Get the Gravy. Just trust me) Everything came out at a reasonable time, no complaints with our food and everything was good as it was. Yet another joint I've walked past 900 times. Finally went recently. It was...different. The food choices were interesting, it's a Philly-inspired sports bar...IMO Philly isn't really known for it's cuisine. But it's what you'd expect: bar food, greasy stuff and cheesesteaks. Except their cheesesteaks aren't in the traditional sense. I got mine on a BED OF WAFFLE FRIES. You can get the regular one on bread. But I think where I come from, if you have the chance to get waffle fries, you get the damn waffle fries. They had a decent selection of beer. Something for the craft crowd and your regular schmoe beer drinker. I don't live in the area, nor work there anymore. But if I was around, I'd definitely go again. read more

This place does their best business when people are desperate and everything else is closed. We should have run away screaming once the stench of the sewer hit us when we first walked in, but we had been in 2 other restaurants / bars where the kitchen had already closed. The drink selection wasn't great, only 2 IPAs to choose from. The food was super salty. And awful. The cheesesteak sandwich meat was tough, bread was not good. Mushrooms were canned. Wings were also salty. Sauce was ok but the meat was tough and the ranch sauce was watered down. The stuffed bread was super greasy and salty. Again, watery ranch and marinara didn't help. The chili cheese waffle fries were too salty. The chili had tough bits of steak in it and too many kidney beans. I'm thirsty for water just thinking about it. Worst meal in NYC so far. Server was too busy talking to his friends at another table to bother with us. Run for your life from the Boogie Woogie and don't look back. read more

Came here recently after work on a weekday at around 5:30pm and was pleasantly surprised at how chill this bar was. The bar never reached full capacity at any point in the evening, despite the nice day, but it in no way represents how good the food and service was. A friend and I swung by and came here for a quick dinner and drinks. The bar was a bit on the dark side. There were a few 2-4 person booths to the left and the bar to the right. There was a good amount of spacing in between. The menu wasn't too big, but having looked at Yelp, we knew what we wanted ---- cheesesteak! We ordered 1 cheesesteak with American cheese and onions and an order of Wogie waffle fries with cheese to share. The cheesesteak came out fairly quickly with the fries. The cheesesteak wasn't huge, at about 8-10 inches, but it easily could fill a single person. The hoagie bread was soft and airy and cradled the delicious chopped up steak. I've had my fair share of cheesesteaks from multiple restaurants in Philly and the cheesesteak served here was not on that level, but pretty good. The Wogie waffle fries with cheese were excellent, Crispy, with plenty of cheese smothered on. The bar was a bit loud, with the background music, but that was to be expected. The service was quick and the waiter always came back to ask if we needed anything else. Definitely a nice, chill bar to grab some good cheesesteaks. read more

I had a really good time here even though the place was tough to find at first, it was really dark outside, and there was a rat the size of an armadillo hiding out under a car out in front of the place. Walking in past two people that were outside smoking, the first thing I noticed was that it's a lot like a lot of other places in NYC, smallish, darkish, but pretty cool. Bar to the right, tables to the left and I think there was a dart board to the right, right as you come down the stairs. I say I "think" because my back was to that part of the restaurant, but I heard a lot of activity back there from the girl that was cussing like a truck driver. Anyway, I had the portobello mushroom sandwich was like no other portobello mushroom sandwich I've had before. Where most of the ones I've had before dressed them up a little, this one was hoagie style...long bun, mushrooms cut into small chunks and provolone cheese. As unimpressive as that may be to some people, and admittedly me at first, it was easily one of the best ones I've had. For just bread mushrooms and cheese, it had a lot of flavor. I'm not sure what they marinate the mushrooms in, but whatever it is, it was good. Everything else was pretty uneventful, service was great actually, although, for whatever reason, the server had kind of a strange way about him...like the way he looked at me seemed very millennial-ish, if that makes sense at all. I'm going back to NYC in May and I'll definitely make it a point to go back here. Especially since it's so close to where I'll be staying. read more

Bathrooms were fairly clean. Server was friendly but distracted and forgot our beverages. Filled us up at an affordable price which is great for NYC, so all good. It's funny, my colleagues and I were excited to have Wogies open up a couple hundred yards from our office given the generally unexciting options in the close vicinity...but I'm a bit underwhelmed so far. It's a pretty slick looking place on the inside, despite it being essentially a windowless basement that passes through an entire block (an entrance on both Trinity and Greenwich, but no real light to speak of). But the fixtures, booths, and bar are all new and relatively fancy. The beer selection is pretty meh. I think they might rotate the couple of fancier draft beers they serve (they used to have the Breckenridge vanilla porter but it's no longer on the menu), but the Kelso Nut Brown is always solid. Prices are a tad on the high side even for NY, $7-8 for a draft I think. The wings are still solid like the WV location, though I'm not sure I'd have anything else on the menu (garbage bread? no thanks). Good TV placement makes it a worthy game-watching spot as well. Right now, though, it feels caught somewhere in between dive bar, sports bar, and upscale post-work spot for FiDi types -- given that they obviously just spent a pretty penny on setting the place up like this, for the price and atmosphere, I think I'd prefer they move more toward better beer and food than what's currently on offer. read more

Have you ever heard that it's against the law to read a book in a bar? "Facts," according to a Wogies' regular that tried to insult me for my aspirations for knowledge. He was cute, seeming clever, and had a legitimate job. Mass appeal. Mass swag. We exchanged information but after a few mini text-versations and a few missed tries for a phone call, I ghosted him. But meeting him at Wogies, your typical Wall Street area bar--an American revolutionary vintage-style background with finance expert patrons and a dive bar essence and floor that says loud-n-proud, anything goes--was a highlight of my day. There is something else special about Wogies. I wouldn't eat here, but this place definitely deserves a try for drinks. I was impressed with the bar service. My drink was poured nicely and the bartender was professional if not friendly. The booths are also appealing for couples. It was the perfect, quiet nook to read a book, if reading a book in a bar wasn't against the law. read more

I have been working close by for about 3 months now and this has been my staple. I do sometimes come here almost me for lunch, read some of my book and just enjoy my lunch break. I have only tried 2 things so far the cheesesteak with onions and the chinked fingers. I cheesesteak is so far my favorite and it's my go too meal at this point but I can only eat half usually. The chance come fingers are really just chicken cutlets with sauce on the side but tasty. I enjoy coming because I know the service is always very great of and quick enough to go on my lunch hour. I do sometimes come after work for the happy hour but not as much for a quiet lunch near the office.
