***This is a review is on SERVICE ONLY*** I stopped by here on my way home from work, because a friend told me this place was good, so I decided to check it out. I went in, looked over the menu and ordered a hot dog and fries. There were two other people there before me, that were there waiting on their food. Someone came in AFTER me, AFTER I took some time looking over the menu, ordered, and had already been sitting down waiting on my food that I ordered TO GO. The two people that were there before got their food before me of course, then when the person that came in AFTER me got their food BEFORE me, I was livid. I waited at least 20 minuets already, on a HOT DOG and FRIES!!?? REALLY??? I simply went up to the cashier and asked for my money back!! How ridiculous that I waited all that time, for food that was not even being prepared!! SERVICE: HORRIBLE FOOD: I don't know, the wait was TOO long!! I just want to shout out to the SLOW staff at Wojo's and the owners, that allow them to be so slow. My advice: BE PREPARED TO WAIT!!! read more

If you really enjoy milkshakes, then you probably know already know of the legendary Wojo's. This burger joint/greasy spoon on the southside serves over 60 flavors of shakes and malts---all of them awesome! Actually, I don't really know if they're ALL that great because I haven't tasted the 65+ flavors, but the few I've tried have really kicked it! They're kind of expensive (around $3.25), but they're HUGE and worth the investment for a taste of any of the crazy flavors like watermelon, grasshopper, banana moon pie, raspberry fluff, chocolate peanut butter fluff, chocolate coconut, rum eggnog, turtle, the "Elvis Shake", and artesian...I have no idea what the f that one is, but I'm sure it's rad. Wojo's food isn't half bad either. With a burger menu as large as their milkshake menu, you can be sure you'll find something to satisfy your craving. They pride themselves on buffalo, ostrich, and elk burgers. They're pretty good, but I'd stick to the regular burgers that are tender and greasy and taste like any awesome burger joint's burgers should taste. The only downside is that everything on the menu is kind of a la carte, except for a few select "combos". So if you're looking to buy a shake, burger, and fries, be prepared to spend anywhere from $8+. Someday I'll make it my passion to sample every milkshake flavor at Wojo's....and when I do, I'll be back up here with the verdict. read more

The prices are a bit steep, but in my opinion, didn't matter when i tasted how awesome the food was. Every thing that is ordered is cooked fresh, and it makes a big difference. It's been thirty minutes and I still taste the gloriousness of the perfect elk burger I just scarfed down. Perfect? Well, I have never had an elk burger to begin with, so this one wins be default. Tender meat with a perfect pairing of peppered onions (ask for em) and a dabble of nacho cheese (again, ask). It's an orgasm in the mouth...actually.... The prices are steep, then again, where else can you get an elk burger, or an ostrich burger on the southwest side. As mentioned previously, there are over sixty...SIXTY...variations of their milkshakes. From an Amaretto to a Chocolate Cherry Cheesecake, or you can even ask for a customized milkshake, this place is undisputed Milkshake King. Fuck. Are. They. Great. Essentially this is seen as a greasy spoon but with my four times going, my burgers were excellent with NO grease droppings. None. using one napkin just to wipe the mouth is great. The decor of this place is homely with pictures of their sponsored baseball teams from 95 to now. Come around 3pm-5pm you'll get Brother Rice and Mother McCauley teenagers in here. read more

This place is great! Here's the straight up no BS review: the food is great, shakes are pretty awesome too. The service is mostly high school and college kids. I don't think I've ever seen anyone I've the age of 26 working behind the counter. So you get what you get when it comes to that but mostly really nice kids. The owners need to sink a little money into a new place or remodel. The 100 shakes they offer has a station big enough for barely one person to work but I always see 2 or more trying to make shakes. Then the decor is horrible. It's a small place with booth seating from 1961 when the average person was . . . A bit smaller. I like the fact they sponsor the local little league teams but if the photos are more than 5 years old remove them. (Like the ones from 1995) and where do I start on the creepy clowns hanging from umbrellas. . I have mixed feelings about this place. I stopped in the first time a few weeks ago to try out the shakes, which everybody was raving about. First up, the flavor of the month, Strawberry & Banana shake... the shake was very good, you could taste the fresh banana and chunks of strawberry. The flavors of both came thru nicely and were mixed into the creamy ice cream, to form a perfectly textured shake. Second visit.. I ordered the Pina Colada shake for the wifey.. now i was expecting a delicious shake along the lines of a virgin pina colada. Sadly, what i received was not what i expected. The girl who prepared my shake must have added the wrong combo of ingredients, is what I immediately thought when i tasted the shake. It tasted like a plain vanilla shake!! I immediately returned to the counter and advised the girl of the mistake I believed took place, but low and behold, the male working the counter said that she used the proper ingredient mix, but was polite and suggested they try again and add some more flavor.. well lucky me I thought.. we are going to get that delicous pina colada shake afterall... I gotta say that the second time around was a tad better, but i cant say the same for my wife. She was sooo disappointed that the shake was still not flavorful enough. I agreed with her opinion, but still was not ready to write this place off based on one subpar performance. I do want to thank the staff for trying.. they were very nice and understanding. The food here was pretty mediocre, just another burger joint when it comes to that if you ask me. I suppose there is some draw if you're looking for wild game (elk, ostrich, buffalo). But my main reason to give this place a whirl was the very long list of milkshakes. And Wojo's successfully delivered all my hopes and dreams with the White Chocolate Oreo shake. Not only does this place have great hot dogs, THE BEST MOST AAAAAMAZING shakes (the strawberry-banana-pineapple was delish), but great customer service. We stopped by there after coming from the airport and I had a cranky, hungry--excuse me--starving baby. The team there helped me as I was struggling to get a bottle ready and was just very catering. I go here every time I visit my friends who live in Oak Lawn. This place is great because (a) it reminds me of places we used to eat on the way home from the beach in Southern California when I was a kid, (b) it reminds me of places teenagers used to hang out in in the early 1980s, (c) it's got pictures of Little League teams whose members are probably in their thirties now, and (d) the shakes are really good. Poor girl at the front was making all the orders herself while the high school boys sat on their phones in the back, chewing gum and spitting into the garbage cans. I can't believe I have never reviewed this place. I've been coming here for over 10 years. I rarely order shakes, but always get them here! It's a typical greasy burger/hot dog joint. I always go with a cheeseburger and strawberry-banana shake. They also have elk, ostrich, tukey and buffalo meat along with veggie items. I've never gone that route though. I'm guessing if they can cook my meal right everytime they can manage those items too. 60 different shakes on the menu!!! You have to try one of these. Service can be a bit confusing at times. A great place for a burger. We had their shakes and they were out of this world. My boys and my wife had a burger and they said they loved it. I had a chili hot dog with all the fixings. A basket of fries and onions rings. To top it off with a pizza puff. All great Vienna food items always make a good meal. I highly recommend this restaurant for a quick bite to eat. This place looks like a basement from the 70's, but the food is so good! I always get a mushroom cheddar bison burger! Very greasy but very delicious! They have so many flavors of shakes! Wojo's is a the stereotypical Chicago hotdog place. It is kind of a hole in the wall with the exception that Wojo's had a huge selection of shakes! Seriously, I love a shake as much if not more than the next person. I can get a different shake everyday for Wojo's for over 2 months now that is crazy! They all taste good which is awesome! The Chicago hot dog is decent as are the sides. My real reason for coming is to grab a milkshake! Also, timing is key when coming to Wojo's. A client of mine took me out to lunch here after a showing. She swears by it, and I can understand why. Tons of burgers, great waffle fries, and more milkshake flavors than you could invent in a week-long acid binge. Prices are good. I haven't been to this place since I was in highschool (mainly because it is mainly inhabited by high schoolers) but came here on a Sunday evening for dinner. I ordered a cheeseburger, fries, and a shake. My sister had the same. I thought the cheeseburger was really good but wasn't impressed by the fries. My sister thought the fries were great so maybe it's just me. Now on to the shake. I ordered the chocolate peanut butter fluff shake (don't judge me) and it was one of the best things I've ever tasted. It was magic. Excited to try new places as we recently moved to evergreen and love supporting small locally owned vs large franchises. While I get some smaller places don't update often I believe minimal changes would be nice. Arrived and weren't minimally greeted or thanked, and as i Sat there had lunch with kids it seemed like it was just a common thing to all customers. Our granddaughter plays Volleyball for Loyola Academy and they play Mother McCauley every year right down the street from Wojos. It's been a ritual the last two years to come to Wojos for a post match dinner. Feeding a 6' tall teenage girl and her 12 and 11 year old brothers plus their parents and grandparents is reasonably priced at Wojos and everybody gets what they want and enjoys it. read more

I used to go here when I was much fatter. Now that I am bench pressing 420 and flirting with a 36-inch waist, I don't see cause to come here much, but it's still pretty decent food. It was like looking at a map of the Silver War, where next to the names of towns like Gettysburg or Chickamauga, the cartographer inserted an image of an explosive to indicate that a battle took place there. Well, while drinking down that damn shake, I could not help imagining my tongue splattered with little explosions. (That really did happen.) It was like there was an invasion, a war, going on in my mouth--except that this was a war for good, like Vietnam. I've never had a shake like since; in fact, taste invasions of my tongue have been few. Wojo's makes a good shake. Now, I know many people don't dig on swine, but if you want a ham and cheese, turn the damn frying pan off, fish the wrapper out of the garbage can and wrap the cheese back up in it, let your dog eat the ham, and head on over to Wojo's. You ain't gonna make it better than they do, so why bother? Far be it from me to discourage anyone (unless you work out and cannot put up 300 lbs.; if so, why bother working out at all? Why not just go skip some rope or double-dutch?), but it's best to know when you've been beaten. The ham and cheese sandwiches at Wojo's are delicious. The place is heavy on the calories, of course, which is why, the last time I went (two weeks ago), I got my son, in the middle of a three basketball game-Saturday, a few dogs and nothing for myself. Finally, I like Donald M.'s review--particularly the part in which he says, "This place has been here forever. . . . Don't over look this mom and pop place. While food I'd good customer service is horrible. If your sign says your open until 10:30pm I expect to be able to order more than a shake at 10:05pn. Not to mention have the employees act like we disturbed them and talk smack through the window at us after we were refused service. My husband and I are old enough to be their parents. I know this place has been around a long time but this being my first visit I can't figure out why it was so crowded. It's took over 20 minutes for my food. My bill was over $14 and all I got a 1/4 pound bacon cheeseburger, a bison dog and a large soft drink. Seemed pretty expensive but if it was something special I'd figure what the heck. Not so... The bison dog was disappointing. For double the price of a Vienna hot dog I'd say don't waste your money on it. It lacked much flavor. I'd swear they gave me a veggie dog by the lack of taste. As for the bacon cheeseburger, it was pretty dry and again disappointing. I normally prefer independent places like this but not this one.
