While passing through Redlands, my wife and I decided to stop by Wok-In Café since she had tried it before and was open to coming back. When we arrived, the restaurant was empty, so we were able to sit anywhere. We ordered Kung Pao Chicken and Beef, and the food did take some time to come out--which usually signals that it's made fresh, and that part was appreciated. Unfortunately, the overall experience was mixed due to the atmosphere. The kids sitting at the table next to us appeared to be the owner's children, and they were very loud and running around the dining area. There didn't seem to be much effort to keep things under control, and it made the environment feel unprofessional. At times, it honestly felt more like being at Chuck E. Cheese than a sit-down restaurant, which took away from enjoying the meal. The service itself was okay, nothing terrible, but the lack of attention to the disruptive noise was disappointing. Final Thoughts: The food was decent and seemed freshly prepared, but the noisy environment--especially with the owner's kids running around--really impacted our visit. Because of that, I'm not sure we would come back again.

Awesome orange chicken. Food takes a while to get to the table but it's a sign that everything is made fresh. Nice family owned restaurant.

I've been coming here for about three years. My to go to is their Lunch specials which range around $10. You pick a soup, a rice, and your main. It comes with an egg roll and small salad. I'm always left feeling satisfied with the quality and amount of food I received. The orange chicken is delicious! There is actual orange rind in the sauce so this has me feeling like there sauces are homemade. I've also gotten the House Kung Pao which is great if you can't decide between beef chicken or shrimp. You get all three. The inside is always clean and roomy. There is adequate space between all the tables. In terms of service, they do a great job being very direct and respectful. There can be a language barrier at times so please be respectful of that. This was no issue for me. If you are in downtown Redlands craving some Chinese food, I highly recommend this spot.

The flavor was good and I enjoyed them, but unfortunately they were missing one of my favorite parts of xiao long bao. The soup. There was very little to no broth inside. The braised beef noodle soup was easily my favorite dish. The broth was flavorful, the beef was tender, and it came out at the perfect temperature. My only complaint was the noodles themselves. They were pretty tangled and clumped together, almost like they had been sitting refrigerated before being added to the broth. Once separated, though, I really enjoyed the dish. We also ordered the sliced beef with hot peppers. The beef had good flavor, but I thought the sauce was a little too dry for my preference. And when they say hot peppers, they mean it, there were A LOT of jalapeños. There was also a small wait between receiving the noodle soup and the rest of our entrées, so the timing could have been a little better. The restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere, plenty of space, and is conveniently located near Downtown Redlands. Overall, I'm glad to see a place serving good Shanghai style Chinese food in an area where there aren't a ton of options like this. Definitely a place I'd come back to and try more of the menu. 7/10

And OMB is more vegetarian friendly. This isn't a Chinese restaurant with a thousand dishes ranging in quality. I see some reviewers suggesting they've had better elsewhere, but those elsewheres are over an hour away. I know those places and they're not worth the drive or the higher prices. There's a reason new locations of this restaurant are opening up left and right in the IE. Yucaipa just got one and they're opening another in Palm Springs in an impressive 'in the middle of everything' location. The only shortcoming of this location is it's a tad too informal for my taste. Like it's more a well lit room than a cozy area you might lounge in. However, that shortcoming is rather common in the IE where I wonder if a place looks a little posh the customers turn and run. The staff is great, the service prompt (even when busy), the boba drinks are delightful -- what's not to love? I'm certain that almost anyone who comes here will likely return. One person in the group recommended Naan Cafe for the first event, and they didn't disappoint! I almost felt bad rolling in with 15 people on a Sunday at noon in a rainstorm during what seemed like a slow time. Not bad to bring in business, just bad to bring it in all at once. There was plenty seating to host our big group with minimal table shuffling. It seemed liked there was even another big group meeting there as well shortly after ours. They really handled the rush like champs and got us our food super quick. Most of it is ready to serve like fast food Chinese restaurants. I haven't tried much Indian food before, but I really liked this setup so I can see what I'm ordering and ask questions about I'm picking. I think this would be the go-to model of introducing Indian food to someone that hasn't had it before, or is reluctant to try it. I ordered a two item combo which comes with two entree items, rice, and garlic naan bread. For my two items I tried the chicken tikka masala (which I hear is the gateway entree for most trying Indian food) and the lamb curry. I've had chicken tikka masala a couple times and it's always pretty good. This one was no different, except maybe that the chicken was a little better that usual! What really stood out was the lamb curry. It was really flavorful and savory and had plenty sauce to mix with the rice. As usual, I also have the benefit of trying my wifes food. She got a two item with the palak paneer (a common spinach and cheese dish) and the chicken curry. I'm never a huge fan of palak paneer and this was no different. It was okay, but I wouldn't order it just because of preference. The chicken curry I would probably order next time instead of the tikka masala. They also have other dishes you can order individually that aren't already prepared, but those are a little more expensive.
