My husband and I go to Wok In Café from time to time. We stopped last May 5. The rice was very soggy and for the first time we ordered the Sesame Chicken along with two other usual dishes we like. The portions are small, so we finished those and they were fine. We also tried few bites of the Sesame Chicken, the pieces had hardly any chicken, mostly breaded. We thought maybe only those pieces were like that, took the rest home. We tried to have it the next day, added some broccoli and carrots to make a meal, but it was the same. That is cheating in my book. The name of this dish should be Sesame Bread. Fix your act if you want customers to come back. read more

First off people, orange chicken and beef with broccoli are not authentic Chinese dishes. That being said, there are some authentic Chinese dishes here I would like to try. This restaurant is pretty good. The prices are reasonable and the portions are enough to get you full with enough leftover to bring home. We had two lunch specials. I had the kung pao shrimp and my husband had the sizzling shrimp plate. The flavors were a bit similar but still pretty delicious. All in all, I wouldn't come here for "authentic" Chinese. I still need to go to la or oc for that but for my American-Chinese food, this place beats panda and pick up stix for me. :) read more

The six of us ladies descended on this little restaurant last night for a Saturday night feast. We had a great night with delicious food, great service and wonderful company. The food was perfect - not too spicey - just right. Everybody's dish was excellent. Many loved the Kung Pao. Nobody had any complaints. The amount was plentiful and still we could not stop eating so we hardly had any to go boxes. We all vowed that we would be back and we CAN'T WAIT!!!! I love this place a lot. For the lack of good quality Asian food in the IE, this is at the top of the list for Chinese food. The service is fast, kind, and accommodating. The owner constantly walks around the tables to make sure everyone has everything they need and enjoying their experience. I have been here multiple times and even thought about having them cater my graduation dinner, but then our plans changed. They have by far, hands down my favorite egg rolls. They are sooo big, stuffed with lots of filling, & thin outside wrapping. Most places have either really small egg rolls, or big ones with less filling and really thick wrapping. Their egg drop & hot & sour soup are both really good so we usually have a hard time deciding which one to get. The fish fillet is really good along with their tofu dishes. They have great lunch specials at a reasonable price. After I proposed to my girlfriend, we came here to eat dinner, which means we like this place a lot. This place and Lotus Garden are the only good Chinese food restaurants in the IE. The food here is really good. Fresh and hot, doesn't seem to be overly salted or saturated with soy sauce. We had the following dishes: shrimp lo mein, green beans in brown sauce, peppered beef, combo fried rice. All was so good we didn't leave anything behind. Best to phone order. But if you dine in the place reminds me of an old school Chinese joint from China Town San Fran. They have a nice window seat that looks out into DTR. Will be frequenting this spot when we want a fix of Chinese deliciousness. read more

I absolutely love this place!! I always come here on my break from work and the waitstaff is super friendly and the service is super fast! All the employees make sure to personally introduce themselves and make everything personal. I love the lunch special Every entree comes with a side salad, egg roll and a choice of soup. I can't believe we've past this little gem several times and never walked in. We tried it this evening for dinner and it was perfect! The food had great flavor! We ordered the Sweet & Pungent Shrimp along with Sweet & Sour Chicken. It was a lot of food for a decent price. We also had an appetizer and a large bowl of soup before our dinner. The restaurant reminded me of something you would see in San Francisco. Very clean and neat with plenty of seating inside and a few patio tables out front. The service was excellent! Very friendly staff that made you feel like you were home enjoying your meal. We'll be stopping here again and recommending this place to all of our friends. read more

There is a sign that says no refund on food after they made. The rice was mushy, how hard is it to make steamed rice? The beef and broccoli well the meat... not sure what that was and I'm guessing it was previously frozen because I did not recognize the texture as meat or the flavor as that of meat. This used to be one of my favorite places to go for Chinese. The second to last time I went, the food was just okay. I didn't hold it against them. I went again and the food was no where close to the quality it used to be. I ordered shrimp and lobster sauce and the whole thing was primarily water chestnuts. I feel cheated by them for paying all that money for what I was given. The sweet and sour chicken was okay. It only had one tiny piece of pineapple in the whole dish and no bell peppers. Plus all the food was salty. We had the same problem last time with the food being salty and even notified the cook. I don't know if this place is under new management or what might be going on. It was disappointing enough that I won't be returning. There's better Chinese restaurants around. read more

So I had a previous review on here that was 5 stars, this place had hands down the best Chinese food around - and their service was amazing. Last time my wife and I went - the food was still amazing, but the service was so-so - there was a language barrier with our server (which I usually count as a positive towards authenticity with the food), but within earshot of our table, there were some rude comments made in their own language made about our table that - unfortunately for them, a colleague was able to translate. At that time, I simply deleted my positive review and moved on; because who wants to ruin a local businesses reputation over something like that? So fast forward to today, about two years after our previous experience - I knew my wife would love some great Chinese food. I went through the options, and knew that since it was takeout - this was the choice. I called in my order on my way home from work, and was told it would be ready in 10-15 minutes. I arrived 20 minutes later, and was received by a friendly cashier - I paid, and she said nothing, so I sat down assuming my food wasn't ready. She immediately stood up to fill a glass of water ... for herself, never offering me anything. I waited approximately 10 more minutes - which is no big deal, but when I got home, and opened the food - I realized my mistake. I had ordered: - Honey Walnut Shrimp - Beef Broccoli - Orange Chicken - Vegetable Chop Suey What I received: - The driest, smallest Honey Walnut Shrimp order I've ever received. - The roughest, driest beef I've ever had. - The driest, most flavor-less Orange Chicken. - A Vegetable Chop Suey full of sprouts, and lacking flavor. I really thought this business was going to be THE ABSOLUTE SPOT for Chinese food for a long time, and they seem to have imploded. I just realized I didn't even mention that they were blasting "Jingle Bells" in a foreign language the whole time I was there. 10+ Minutes. I feel like they gave up a while ago, their website died almost as soon as it popped up - and their food quality has hit an all-time low. NO SHAVED ICE. I specifically came here during my lunchbreak for the shaved ice (which is included/advertised on their outside menu), only to be told it has not been available for about 5 years. I ended up getting the lunch special (soup, tiny salad, rice, entree), which came out quickly and was a good portion size. Honestly I'm starting off with this. Not sure why this place has such horrible reviews I've had nothing but good experiences with their food & service. I've been to this restaurant 3 times in the last 2 months. Their staff already knows my mom & I. We have our favorite table which is inside right by the window. They offer different lunch plate specials including vegan lunch plate specials. How amazing is that. I used to live in Downey where there was this one restaurant named Peking China which Wok in Cafe really reminds me of. Their pricing is very affordable for their portion size. This is hands down the best chinese food restaurant in Redlands, San Bernardino, Highland and surrounding areas in my opinion. Both are good but was looking for something more 4 to 5 stars...I found it! Such a nice, cute and very clean place to eat in or take out. If you're near downtown Redlands and need a quick Chinese food fix, visit Wok In Cafe. The staff is very friendly and the dishes are mostly made to order. I ordered the Beef Fried Rice and the Egg Foo Young dish. The chef explained that my order would take longer then normal to prepare because the egg foo young is made from scratch, but that it would be something of a treat. The rice was average but the chef was correct, the Egg Foo Young was well made and the ingredients make it a dish to recommend to anyone that wants to try something new. Keep in mind, this is not the best Chinese food in Redlands, but considering that they are located downtown Redlands, they are the closest Chinese restaurant. read more

I came here for lunch with a friend and we both got the lunch special. I am so appreciative of their newly revamped vegetarian options. I really enjoyed what I ordered. The prices are so reasonable. Then I came back as a group on a Saturday night and I was so grateful that they had a room for all of us. The service was attentive although I know they are understaffed.
