After reading all the hype I thought I'd check this place out. The service is great and the owner is very nice. I got beef and broccoli, orange chicken and hot/sour soup and it was 15$. I thought the place was going to be good or at least decent but it's over priced and more like 1$ Chinese food that you find in a run down shopping center. I don't recommend this place nor will I ever come back. So I gave this place a 2nd chance I have change in opinion and I now give them a three star rating instead of my original two star. The Chinese food in the front trays is not the best but I do have to say their pho, soups and meats are good. The family that runs the place are very nice and make you feel welcome. Wow! This place is so great! Its so clean and the owners are so sweet and kind. The portions are generous, I could not put a dent in my Vermicelli! I ordered off the menu. Located off Newport Blvd parallel to the 55, this restaurant is not particularly easy to find. However, once you do find it, you'll see it's a hidden treasure. As others have mentioned, this is a small family owned restaurant and you can see the personal touch they put into their warm and friendly service. They serve food "to-go style" and off the menu -which I prefer. My first time, I tried the Phõ Gà and Beef Chow Fun. The Phõ exhibited a flavorful broth worthy of legit OG Bolsa style pho with all the accoutrements like basil, lemon wedges, hoisin, sriracha (gotta have sriracha), sprouts, chilis, etc. they use white chicken breast meat only, which is nice and the portions are indeed generous. After virtually annihilating my pho I made a go at the beef chow fun. Again, the flavor profiles were on point. "Fresh off the wok" flavor, copious portions of tender beef, and chunky sautéed onions. In other words, It was pretty much complete awesomeness on a plate. Overall, service was prompt and as I've mentioned before, warm and friendly. I have to say, the food was fantastic and legit. Let me say this, it's not exactly easy to find good Vietnamese food or Chinese food for that matter in the Downtown Costa Mesa area. Y'all know what I mean! Having dined at old school restaurants off Bolsa all my life, I find the neighboring restaurants in the area like Lotus and Lantern not up to par and they pale in comparison to the authenticity and quality you get here. With that said, it's safe to say I'll make another visit soon. In fact, I feel like I already know them like family! All in all, a great spot that will undoubtedly calm those hunger pangs if you're ever cruising through the CM for some casual Vietnamese dining and you're just too lazy to trek on over to Little Saigon. I work in Costa Mesa and I am a true lover of Thai so of course I go on yelp and I'm looking for a cool Thai spot to get some really good food. So I see this place walk in and it's not really type food it's more Korean photo and some Chinese type foods but let me tell you I ordered the fresh spring rolls and the wonton soup with noodles and it was amazing. Very Pho Very Vietnamese and very delicious. And they don't mix the broth with the ingredients they do it separate so nothing gets soggy. I brought leftovers home for my daughter and she wants to go down to wok in. Unfortunately for her we live in Anaheim and it is in Costa Mesa. Otherwise if you are from the area then you'll know him and the crew at WOK-IN simply because there's no where better to go. Our go-to pho spot. We've been to many of the pho places near us in the Costa Mesa/Santa Ana/Irvine area (nothing compares to westminster of course), and this spot is the best. First, the price point is excellent. We typically order the combination brisket, tendon and meatball pho soup and it's $8.00 and some change. The portion is huge too as I was able to share it with my wife. We tried the house special fish filet that comes with white rice and it was like $9something. Incredible value. Not only are the portions generous, the flavors are fantastic. The broth in the pho is beefy, but not overwhelming. Noodles do not stick together and don't do not arrive soggy. Meat is fresh and not tough and stringy. The house special fish filet is crispy and has a savory sauce sautéed into it. This might now be my favorite dish there. We've had the beef chow fun before and it was great as well. Service is superb also. The young dude that mans the front is incredibly friendly, and so are the 2 older folks that run the kitchen (husband and wife?). It's usually empty when we come, but I always see people come in and out to do take out, so don't let the emptiness fool you. Parking is hassle free - never had to fight for any space. I don't see how anyone can give Wok-in less than 5 stars. It's quick, it's cheap, and you'll be bloody satisfied when you wok out of there. read more

This spot was the first Chinese Vietnamese Restaurant I had been to this year. The waiter was attentive and was very friendly. And the beef chow fun was absolutely delicious. Overall I rate them five stars out of five stars because the price for their food isn't too expensive too. Everything is reasonable and next time I will be back to try the Orange Chicken. read more

I'm gonna be honest, I've had better Chinese food. But I still had a five star experience. The people were really friendly, offered samples, and hooked me up with extra sauces. I tried the lemon and orange chicken dishes, but they were kinda soggy rom sitting out. I went with the lung pao chicken and the beef n broccoli. The beef was definitely better, tender beef and crunchy broccoli. The won ton soup was petty good, and had a lot of won tons in it. Basic but delicious. Best thing I ordered were the pork egg rolls. Just arrived to our motel from Arizona and decided to get something to eat. The location was super close to our motel. The service was excellent! The young man took his time explaining the menu to us! They even gave us complimentary egg rolls, which were very good! I got the pho with rare brisket, around 6.49. It was a very big bowl. I cannot believe how cheap everything was! In Arizona, it costs a little more. I also purchased their fresh spring rolls to-go for 2.99! So cheap! Back home, it is like 4-6 dollars for two. I'm shocked and confused of the high reviews of this establishment. I ordered the filet Mignon beef and house special LO Mein. To start out, my LO Mein had cilantro on it, that was a first for me on Chinese. I always eat everything besides shrimp first since it can easily get you sick, I decided after eating the rest of the food that I wasn't going to eat any shrimp, it looked rubbery and didn't smell right. There were also slices of tomato unseasoned on my filet beef off to the side like a garnish. Pretty weird. Now on to the taste, no seasoning, minimal sauce that also wasn't seasoned very well, I put tons of salt and pepper on it and when I took it home even butter and it still was under seasoned. I enjoy my Chinese fast food place much better than this and it's only $6 for a combo, stay clear of this non-authentic & unseasoned Chinese Food. read more
