They have really lost the great taste of there food since they lost the original Lodge. Really hate that but still a fun plc's to go.

Our subdivision has a group of about 24 folks who get together once a week and go to dinner. We pick a different place each week. Last night 3/2/2017 we went to Wolf Bay Lodge where we had a private room all set up and ready for us. We had 19 last night as several folks were sick and could not make it. Our server Chrystal was awesome! She handled our groups orders for drinks from the bar and our food orders perfectly and she also provided our checks without any problem. Where can you get a salad bar that includes romaine lettuce, spinach, deviled eggs, chicken salad, tuna salad, five home made dressings, captains wafers, real bacon bits, croutons and lots more up until 3:00 daily except Sunday? Wolf Bay Lodge in Foley. It is included with most lunch entrees plus a side. Baked potato and baked sweet potato are just two of the sides offered. Abby Ridley Davis chose the huge catfish filet pictured here. Hers was $9. I choose the two filets of tripletail for $11, but could also have had Snapper or Grouper for the same price. All include hushpuppies, which most restaurants are now treating as a side. The portions are much larger than most of the upscale restaurants locally at half the price. The quality and preparation are perfection. It is hard to save room for the coconut cake, but worth the effort. Bring your appetites and prepare to take home a doggie box full. read more

Suggested by a local, the Wolf Bay Lodge was quite a treat! Just a couple of blocks off the main highway. Excellent service (thank you, Maggie!), and the food was exceptional. Good salad bar with homemade dressings (the Italian was fantastic). My encore was lump crab cakes with sauteed veggies, and it was so delicious! I'll definitely go back. read more

As locals, my wife and are are very familiar with most every restaurant in town. Though this is only a bit down the road from us, we just recently gave it a try. What's great about Wolf Bay Lodge its combination of drab cafeteria decor, lazy presentation, and overpriced mediocre food. What's more, you get to be condescended to by a waitress who ostensibly "accidentally" overcharges by a factor of 2. If fake Christmas trees being supervised by glaring animal heads is your kind of atmosphere, this is your place. If you believe a wilted piece of parsley is all you need to dress up a $20 plate, grab your keys. If you're always walking away from restaurants saying "those people were far too helpful and kind, I wish we could find a place where we are talked down to", press that accelerator to the floorboard and get yourself to the Wolf Bay Lodge. If this doesn't sound like a great time, give Nolan's, Cosmo's, or Cobalt your hard earned money. They will appreciate your business and provide you an excellent meal. read more

5+ stars all the way! Service was great! Food was excellent!!! We had the captain's platter and each item was cooked to perfection. I asked the chef to broil my oysters instead of frying them and they were so yummy!!! Salad bar was super fresh and they allowed me to make a little plate for my infant, who is just starting finger foods, free of charge. I especially loved the shrimp and grits, so creamy, and just the right amount of seasoning, not too spicy! Would eat here again if in the area! They also had a complimentary sugar scrub for your hands in the restroom and it was amazing! read more

Wolf Bay Lodge: A Phantom Menace I was recently recommended this wretched hive of scum and villainy by the front desk attendant at my 3 star motel. I was skeptical at first, but the attendant assured me it was no lodge, it was a restaurant. So upon arriving, and after navigating the yankee candle scented gift shop in less than twelve parsecs, I was seated in a mismatched chair at the head of a table for ten. Our waiter arrived, a commanding young man with a pony tail not unlike a padawan in the classic 1998 film. Having been accustomed to dive restaurantson the coast, I ordered the "gumbo" and a "jumbo lump crab cake". The gumbo was luke-warm, and with so much tomato flavor, was more of a seafood chili bantha fodder. But surely the crab cake would impress. Unfortunately the shredded crab was barely discernible in this fried bread ball, and it crumbled like Alderaan under the mighty fist of the empire. My entree of choice was the shrimp and grits. Star Wars puns aside, shrimp and grits should always have a white wine sauce AND NEVER a cheese sauce with tomatoes and chives. This isn't Taco Bell. Needless to say, the force was not strong with this restaurant, and I've made better shrimp and grits in my T16 back home. read more

If you want to splurge, this is the place. The taste of the food is not near what it was at the old location & the prices are so very costly!! You get the salad with your meal, BUT, here is the shocker, only 1 trip to the salad bar with a little bitty bowl. There is a lot to choose on the salad bar but that little bitty bowl only holds a little bit. The little bowl & 1 trip to the salad bar is so ridiculous!!!! This is the only restaurant I have ever been to that has this practice. Oh well!!! read more

By far the worst service ever. Our server forgot to ring in our food. And then we finally got it two hours later. Then a roach crawls on our table 5 minutes into having dinner. Instead of discounting our ticket, the manager tried to offer us free alcohol. Very unprofessional and we will never go back. I was really excited to eat here because I have family from the area who like it. I was somewhat disappointed. First, the wait to be seated was looooong. Over an hour when they initially told us 30 minutes. The salad bar came with many of the dinner items. It was rather small, but decent. Salad only - no extra dishes like larger salad bars. We ordered triggerfish and ribeye steak. The food was good and a decent amount, but it was still way overpriced. For two people drinking water and no appetizers, and no dessert, our bill was $60! Most expensive dinner we've had in a long time. And the thing is, the place wasn't anything special. For those kind of prices you expect white tablecloths and servers dressed nicely. No such thing. Servers were in shorts and t-shirts and whole place was very casual. If the prices were lowered by half, I'd give it 5 stars because the food was good, just way too expensive. read more

It was a saturday night about 8:30 when we were seated. We chose this place b/c there was going to be almost a 2 hr wait at Lambert's. We got our drinks, appetizer & salads super quick! Then the waiting began....waiting and waiting and waiting....after almost an hour, we finally got our food. We ordered 2 specials: "New York Strip", bourbon glazed shrimp & veggies, Seafood Alfredo, Chicken Alfredo & Grilled Grouper. If i have to wait HOUR for my food....it better be stinkn HOT can I just tell ya!!!???? It was NOT....and I'm not sure what cut of meat that was...bargain basement steaks,Inc?...toughest New York strip we ever ate!! It was cooked perfectly but...no flavor whatsoever and was very chewy!! The grouper was very flavorful but one end of it was cold....waaaah? My daughters' Alfredo dishes were super yummy!! The seafood alfredo was the best thing on the table....we ended up dipping our flavorless steak in that sauce! We had planned to try a dessert or two but thought we might have to do our Christmas shopping while we waited for it to arrive so we opted out! Im sure this place is really great but apparently our waitress was having issues! No apology was ever made about the long wait for the arrival of our food, not even after we cracked tacky "did you have to kill the cow" jokes! Absolutely a perfect experience from beginning to end. The wait for 5 was 45 mins to be expected on a busy Saturday night. The bar made the wait bearable. The staff was very helpful from the moment we walked in. I tend to watch the kitchen for cleanliness, and the way the kitchen handles the food. From what I witnessed gloves are always worn, and employees are constantly cleaning. There was no dust around the air vents, and one employee seemed to be assigned to the salad bar full time. The food was served fast and was VERY hot. We had stuffed whole flounder, burgers, seafood platter, and chicken fingers. Everything appeared fresh and was delicious .I can't express how attentive our server Carla was. This is our first time at WBL, and owning a place in OBA we will be returning. Took a group for lunch and everyone loved it. And our waitress was really good. The only problem was Salad Bar, Nothing was marked. And it was so dark over the selection we didn't know what we were getting, let alone see whats in it. The Chicken Salad and Tuna salad looked so much alike. On our second trip here in 5 months while visiting our newly purchased home we enjoyed the very good food and great service again. Keep in mind that a small portion of the seafood served in this area comes from the local fisheries. Ask your server what is local and go that route. I am not a fan of the salad bar situation but it is a staple here. Probably because a vast majority of diners here are locals, or like us, spend 4-6 months a year at our beach home. Prices are very fair and our service has been very good. We and our friends really like this place. I have dined on seafood all over the world and paid much more for like or even lesser quality dinners than Wolf Bay offers. OK wine selection if you are not a wine wacko. I've been visiting relatives in Foley for 25 years & dining out has always been a challenge. The WBL has now changed that. Stuffed flounder & lobster tails (cold water) were delicious.
