Went on Sunday morning for the Chicken Fried Steak (CFS) mentioned by the show, "Eat like local" with Chris Shepard. Following the show's recommendation we had the appetizer, "Texas Twinky", CFS, and for desert the peach crisp, alamode. It was very delicious. I love "hot" food and the pepper on the Texas Twinky were blazing hot (ya!). This is not a dish I would feed to a person that doesn't like hot spices. My significant other declined my invitation to partake. These are generally called jalapeño poppers, but these have a large pepper spilt in half, crème cheese, then BBQ brisket with bacon wrapped around and smoked again. They were both physically and tastefully "hot'". Careful of the calories cause these are a minefield of at least 400+, you get 3, so it's a meal itself. However they intermingled onion rings for those more refined taste, like my significant other. Those were gone in a flash. She was asking what's next! Then the chicken fried steak entree came out rapidly. There's enough there for two or you better be plowing the fields cause it was the typical Texas h-u-g-e CFS steak. We spilt this. Of course, we had cream gravy with gravy on the side for the mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were mashed potatoes (plain Jane, so to speak) that were mashed by hand ( which I loved). How could I tell they were made by hand, well there were lumps in the mashed potatoes which you don't get using instant. Gravy was a strong B+/A-. The gravy was just a bit thin and belonged more on the steak and less on the potatoes. Could have used more butter and some pepper. But, potatoes wasn't why I was here though. The Texas toast was immediate scarfed up by my companion. It to was gone in a flash. I must point out that she was dipping the bread into the gravy. Next time we will order a larger bowl of gravy. I did not get my fair share of gravy. We have had CFS at several restaurants some recommend by Chris, like Live Oak, this was in are opinion slightly better than Live Oak ( the other place that Shepard recommend, and no I don't always agree with Chris on his choices) having been there several times for the CFS. This had a definite crunch to the crust and held true to picking up the gravy. Her steak had som grizzle to it, but that is the nature of the meat that you are using. Liking hot tasting food there was no Tobassco or Cholula offered. Probably, will ask for it next time. This time was the head to head what does Wolfpack CFS taste like and compare it to Live Oak. The Green beans were right out of my Grandmother's kitchen. Somewhat boiled to death. Edible, but not the focus of the meal. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance, could not asked for a better experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Waitress was personable, helped us with order, was timely with drink refills and deserved the tip she got. This is in sharp contrast to Live Oak which has no waitresses, but they still want a tip. Live Oak has good food, no waitresses, speed of light table janitors ( Sir, are you through with that plate?). In my opinion tipping is well out of hand in the US. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Here the pace appeared slower, with a full service bar, tables were older but very comfortable as was the seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food was excellent in both texture quantity and taste. I expected to see a condiment bar which would have help the people that like it hot. Next time I will try different sides including a baked potato and the condiment bar would do great, if added. Both Live Oak and Wolfpack Tavern have excellent food. If you're looking for the get and go, then Live Oak serves the bill, but if you want to kick back and be served then Wolfpack is your place. The peach crisp was a delight. We had it with ice cream on top. We spilt this too. It was spoon licking good. Yes, I thought of licking the plate, but that embarrassed the little women the last time I did it in a restaurant. Price for the entire meal was just shy of a full Grant, including tip. Still expensive in our book, but in today's economy it's normal. Remember we spilt everything. This had lots of calories; hence, either plan to take it home or bring a friend! read more

We were in the mood for burgers on our way to San Antonio and decided to go off the beaten path a bit to try this place and we were not disappointed . We came in a little after the lunch crowd but the burgers were still super fresh. I love a juicy cheeseburger and these fit the bill perfectly. My fries were cooked to crispy perfection. Get the Brisket Fries (like nachos but fries so waayyy better) and I forgot to snap a pic of the cheese curds but the best ones I've ever had. These are like little tiny cheese sticks, not like any other cheese curd I've ever had. They're addicting and it's very easy to eat a whole basket on your own. Take away one star just because the margarita still needs some work, but I like the atmosphere it's always very friendly. read more

We found the food to be mediocre. We were there for lunch and learned that grilled items are available only after 4 on weekdays. We ordered the chicken fried steak as we had heard it was top quality ~ mine was gristly and not all that flavorful. The gravy was thin and not very tasty. The CFS entree comes with green beans and mashed potatoes. The green beans did not look or taste fresh. Again, it was just okay, but nothing we would go back for, especially as there is a wonderful restaurant much closer to us that offers many more menus options and much better food. read more

I'm a local, have visited Wolf Pack many times in the past, but will probably not choose to go back again. I will caveat by saying the food is good, and if you have two hours for lunch with nothing better to do, then this is the place to go. However, if you want good quality service, wait staff that are attentive and maybe remotely care, or you want your food to come out well prepared and in a timely manner, I would strongly consider other options. For our party of 5, lunch took over two hours and we left with one person giving up on food. Just not a good experience. read more

What a hidden gem! We were headed to Austin and wanted to stop for lunch somewhere, so worth the detour! If this place was closer to home it be my go to place with hubby! The staff was fast, knowledgeable, friendly and owner recommended the best chilaquiles for brunch! Sad I didn't get to try more stuff but I'll be back for more. Review of Wolf Pack Firegrill Tavern in Sealy Texas We were there ,asked to wait 15 minutes, no problem, we sat at the bar waiting to be called, after 30 minutes we asked one of the bartenders to check to see if they got our number wrong, the hostess had forgotten we were waiting, we finally were given a table, where we sat for over 30 minutes and never had a waiter or waitress come to our table. I thought maybe because we had drinks and an appetizer from our wait at the bar, they ignored us, we asked both a waitress who walked by and the hostess to please get us a waiter, 10 minutes went by and no one came, finally we saw one of the owner/ managers and told him about time we were waiting and ( it was not that busy) he said sorry, unacceptable , would get someone to take our order. 5 plus minutes and finally he brought someone, took our order and then wait for food was another 30 plus minutes. We were told salad would be out right away, 15 minutes and she had to go back and check on it. We really thought about leaving, but we were both hungry and had driven from Katy , just to try them out , as we had seen them on Eat Like a Local on channel 2 Houston ! No one offered water either ! No salt and pepper on table! When food finally came, there was a steak knife for the chicken fried steak, but not the bone in pork chop ! The pork chop had a good flavor, but was a bit dry, could have benefited from some applesauce or dipping sauce of some kind. The chicken fried steak was underwhelming, as it was not crispy as stated on show, the " cream gravy " was watery and very salty and poured over the steak ! The service at bar was excellent, bartenders were attentive and friendly! There was a Hispanic lady bussing tables and she was first one to acknowledge we needed help and even refilled my lemonade and got us a to go box for our appetizer, which were good( Texas Twinkies). She also told the waitress that finally came to us that the time we had waited for help was unacceptable and No Good ! Overall, I was very disappointed! We both were waiters in our younger days and I cook meals from scratch and know what things should be, but we like to watch the shows that show local restaurants and then go on the weekends to try them, and if good, we return many times and with groups of family. I wish I could say my experience was great, but it wasn't. And I really wanted it to be great , as it was my choice for dinner for Saturday before Mother's Day ! But on bright side, after walking around town a bit , we found a little restaurant , Mesquite Mexican Grill. Service was excellent and food good too. We will return there. We have not had one bad experience coming here. We had a friend recommend trying it after I told her I was having trouble finding good crawfish. Our first time eating at Wolf Pack, Danna was our server and she was great. We just got home from another trip, and it was our best experience yet. Landon was our server and he was amazing. Very personable, on top of it the whole time, and even took time to help my kiddo get logged into the WiFi. Dave, the general manager, came to check on us and we couldn't say anything bad. I felt like the few suggestions we had he took to heart and really cares about the experience of his customers. He has a lot of good ideas that I think will do well for the restaurant. As a celiac, I'm sad crawfish season is almost over because I'm not sure what else I can eat there. My kid loves their burgers and sweet potato fries. Husband likes the different appetizer options and enjoyed the crab cake sandwich on the jalapeño sourdough bread. Give it a try. If you're disappointed, it's probably an issue on your end. read more

Took the wife out Saturday for crawfish. Best crawfish around, margarita on the rocks not so good. We have had our share of margaritas. The food here is wonderful, my husband & I would come for the fried cheese curds appetizer alone, but everything else we've tried has been delicious as well. I like that the old building was kept intact & they did not try to modernize too much. The bar has a good selection of beers & other drinks (I like the Bloody Mary, personally). The only problem is parking; downtown Sealy is relatively small, so sometimes you have to park pretty far from the restaurant. read more

We are frequent Wolfpack customers, and while we were sitting at our table, we opened up the google page to add a photo of our food & noticed a recent review about a girl with "chipped blue finger nails" Turns out we got the "chipped blue fingernails nails" girl today, and her name is Alaina- she was OUTSTANDING, we have had her few times and she is always super personable and friendly. We mentioned the review and she said she heard about it this morning and was so upset and shocked by it, she said she's never had a bad review... and we believe her! She is one of the best they have, so I'm just coming on here to let everyone know sometimes people have bad days and we should show grace, I wasn't here yesterday nor do I know how she treated the customers at that table, but I just don't believe this server would act in such a manner to be called names. The food is always great, sometimes the spice is off, and is a little too spicy, (which is why my go to is the turkey Club!) so we understand that part of the review. The wait staff is what makes this place very enjoyable. They make you feel like you're eating at home and like you have been a regular for years. Had the opportunity to return to Wolf Pack on our way to San Antonio. This time we were able to try the Blackened shrimp BLT on sourdough bread with seasoned French fries and the wedge salad with homemade blue cheese dressing. Good service, good food nice ambiance for this cute small town restaurant. The manager actually came over to ask our opinion about the quality and amount of food for the price. My family and I absolutely love this restaurant. It is definitely worth the drive to Sealy. I always order the hamburger with cheese. It is one of the best tasting burgers I have had. The only drawback is the parking, you may have to park in the downtown area and walk but after eating one of their delicious burgers a little walk would probably be ok.
