I had never seen a place specializing in stroopwafels before so I was so surprised when I walked by while checking out Grand Central terminal! My boyfriend and I ordered one to share; we got a small freshly baked stroopwafel with freeze-dried strawberries. The stroopwafel display was so beautiful and the packaging is very cute as well, I was a big fan! The stroopwafel itself was a bit too sweet for my liking, but that's to be expected. My boyfriend really liked it! I definitely recommend it for anyone with a sweet tooth looking to try something new. It is quite pricey though for a single stroopwafel. I had the Reese's stroopwafel at Bryant Park's Winter Market and was very pleased with my choice! I love sweets and anything with peanut butter and chocolate so naturally it was a perfect match. The staff were super friendly, service was quick, and the stroopwafels were tasty. My personal favorites were the reese's pieces and mint chocolate toppings. They also have their limited-edition Halloween stroopwafels which is a ghost and pumpkin. I chose the ghost stroopwafel and it was freshly made. It's the perfect Halloween treat. I find them very pricey. If you are getting the fresh one, menu says $8.50 for a small one. The location in Grand Central said they do not have the fresh one... and they are selling per box of 3 or 6. We got choco mint, choco coconut and lotus biscoff. They were all good. I was expecting them to be a little crisp on the outside but they were on the softer side. Maybe bec they were not as fresh as when it first comes out from the oven. If the price were more reasonable, I would have given them 5 stars. read more

Then, nearly 40 minutes for our stroopwafel ice cream sandwiches. We ordered three: * One came out rock hard * One was soggy * One was undercooked and bitter At $14.50 each, I expected at least decent quality. Instead, the "ice cream" came straight out of a Costco tub--nothing house-made. It melted instantly, creating a messy, soupy disaster before we could even start eating. The taste was awful--so bad no one could finish theirs, and it left us feeling queasy. They might have been featured on TikTok, but I have no idea why. I tried their stroopwafels in Bryant Park Winter Village and it was memorable. Every stroopwafel is served warm straight from the waffle iron -- they press a dough ball into a flat cookie and cut it into two thin pieces. Then they glue the disc wafels together with caramel fillings. It is half-covered with syrup of your choice, either chocolate or caramel. You can customize your stroopwafels with a variety of crunchy toppings, including smarties, coconut flakes, caramel pearls, and more! The stroopwafels are crispy on the outside and gooey in the center. They are smaller than the ones I had in Winter Village but the size is perfect for one sitting. Overhyped! We just stopped by for coffee at the GCS and as I checked in, there's a yelp offer if you buy a stroopwaffel and coffee. Ladies were nice but it's definitely a tiktok hype thing. But didn't taste as good as those served in Europe or even the Trader Joe's mini ones lol. Just not sweet nor could you taste the syrup filling. Van Wonderen Stroopwafels are well-known in the Netherlands, so it's quite exciting to see an outpost across the Atlantic here. It is a little poetic, if you think about it; before New York City, there was New Amsterdam. This review is specifically for the Bryant Park location, which is a temporary stall for the winter holiday season. All their stroopwafels are made fresh to order and the surrounding air smells absolutely wonderful-- molasses and cinnamon wafting gently around the carousel. You choose which size of stroopwafel you'd like and they dip half of it in chocolate before sprinkling on the topping of your choosing. I was unable to dry their ruby rose strawberry chocolate shavings on my most recent visit, so I had the orange chocolate pearls instead, which gave the dessert a light citrusy touch. I'm convinced a fresh stroopwafel, all warm and gooey from the caramel and chocolate, will cure almost any known ailment. read more

This review is for macarons from their Grand Central locations. The macarons were not fresh. Their color had migrated due to being on the shelves for so long, which we did not see until we opened the box, and the outer shell would easily separate from the sticky inside when being picked up, and become crumbly. The lady behind the counter also used tongs which punctured the outer shell of the macarons. The box also did not have an insert so our 6 macarons just swam around in there. Sticky caramel sandwiched between thin wafer layers, coated in chocolate and toppings, the stroopwafels are as delightful as I remember but there is less choice in toppings (I recall we'd had some caramelized nuts).
