If I could give zero I would. This started as 2 occasionally running toilets at my father in law house. He called Woodfin and they charged $400 to "fix". After 4 trips they were still running. Woodfin said they could replace both toilets for $1500 EACH!! And they wanted us to provide the toilets!! So basically $3000 for 2 to 3 hours of labor. Highway robbery. What kind of plumbers do they have that can't fix a simple running toilet? read more

Unresolved water damage from a Woodfin installed mini split. They installed it a few years ago, I've paid for the maintenance plan every year. Right after service it started spewing water. Months later the water damage is still unresolved. I have holes in my ceilings and walls, probably mold. Purchased new Carrier High efficiency heat pump 3-years ago. Since install, there have been over 15-service calls with several parts replaced Dec 3rd, they supposedly order a replacement part that would take 5-7 days to get. We've been waiting a couple of months for a simple part (twice since purchasing our fireplace) from Woodfin. They used to be so quick and great service. My husband has called a couple of times about an update on this part. He gets the same answer we are working on it. We have them come for our yearly home check ups. I have had Woodfin since I bought my house in 1997. I had, notice the had, been very happy with the customer service. That was totally tanked this Friday. I had a heat pump installed with oil back up slightly less than 2 months ago. The heat has not been consistent. I spoke with the thermostat company on Thursday. After much help from the customer rep I thought I had fixed the problem. When I came home Friday evening the heat was down to 62 degrees again. I called Woodfin. There used to be a real human to speak to after hours. Not anymore. Speaking to some sort of auto answer I set up an appointment for today from 8-noon. I received a text about sorry they missed me. No knock, no nothing. My dog did bark twice close to noon while I was in the bathroom. I've asked for a call back. I do feel sorry for Mark, who has answered the phone twice when I called. Especially the second time. I'm sick of doinking around with Woodfin on the phone and will be heading over there to speak to someone face to face as soon as I finish this review. read more

When they installed our whole house generator 3 years ago apparently they cut a line in my septic system. The damage didn't become known until my septic system failed last week. The septic technician said the failure was absolutely due to Woodfins damage. It just cost us $5150 to repair the septic system. Woodfin says this isn't their fault. That any damage is not their fault. They won't reimburse us anything. I would not recommend them to anyone. read more

I just had my propane tank refilled as it was empty (only connected to propane logs/fire place) and paid over $300.00 for the tank to be filled. Technician only put 70 gallons in my tank therefore not meeting the 100 gallon minimum and I still was invoiced a tank rental fee on top of that for $111.00 I spoke with the propane manager, and she stated I should have monitored her tech and advised he fill it up to 100 gallons (which I was completely unaware I would need to micromanage their staffing). SAVE YOUR MONEY AND PURCHASE YOUR OWN TANK before renting one from this place! read more

Had Woodfin install a new A/C unit in 2021, and have had problems with it each summer since, twice including a system short which caused the thermostat to quit working. Last July (2024) a drain pipe clogged and had to be cleared, but before it was, we went several days without A/C. A couple days ago, the same issue apparently resurfaced, but Woodfin says it will be 4 days before they can get a tech out for the repairs. I understand the backlog considering the current heat wave, but we're "Comfort Plan" customers and don't expect to have such frequent recurring problems with a 4-year old unit. Meanwhile, the thermostat currently shows 78° (at 10:15 am) and was at 81° last night when we went to bed. Very disappointed. read more

Woodfin's 100% satisfaction gauranteed claim is definitely a sham. It sounds nice but falls short. We received a quote to have dimmers installed for new LED lights. After the work, the lights flickered continuously without changing the amount of light. Another electrical contractor explained the dimmers were installed incorrectly and additional wiring was needed to make them work. He also explained the way they were wired could damage the new LED lights. When the Woodfin technician returned, he said he didn't realize additional wiring was needed. We had the new contractor rewire the dimmers. Woodfin would not return our initial calls. After pulling teeth, they did reduce the invoicee by less than 10%. It was clear they were much more interested in paying their expenses than having a satisfied customer. read more

I do not use Woodfin. However, my neighbor does and that is what this review is about. He contacted Woodfin later in the day for a plumbing issue - water was not draining. All drains (sinks, toilets, dishwasher, washing machine, etc.) we stopping, nothing would drain. Obviously an issue with the main line leaving the house. Now that main line could be under the house or underground in the front yard. We know this now thanks to Matt, the plumber service technician who was on site to assist. Matt worked diligently to resolve this drainage issue but to no avail. He spent hours to determine the issue, to determine the cause, and worked to find resolution. So while Matt was not able to provide relief be did two things that are particularly noteworthy for this review. First, he only billed the 'trip charge' (one hour?) despite all the time he spend on this project. He did so because he wasn't able to provide any resolution and as a result it was the right thing to do. Second, he offered suggestions of service providers for services that Woodfin does no provide. Thank you Matt for your professionalism and ethics. Matt has did well enough that I would consider Woodfin for my next household service need. read more

I was talked into going from $89 to $159 for extra benefits plus the service call. Fine. But neither a Woodfin person nor a phone call. This was last Friday, the third, so until midday Monday we were unclear as to your plans. I called and waited, waited finally I reached a nice lady who told me that they had tried to call.....By that point I had made another appointment. The lady said she would request a refund the $169 (higher than was offered) but so far no refund. No anger here, just want my money back. read more

We have a maintenance agreement on our Generac generator with Woodfin. It stopped working with an over heating message. I requested service on line and got a call back saying I would have to call to schedule. I called and was put on hold for 10 minutes. Their message said I could avoid these wait times if I requested service on line. See where this is going? When someone finally answered they said someone would call me to set up an appointment. That finally happened and the service man showed up. Nice fellow. He determined the problem was either the thermal switch or the board. He said he had no training from Generac and didn't know how to test to see which was at fault. Since replacing the switch was cheaper he would try that first. I told him that approach was not acceptable so he called someone who told him to disconnect the wire to the switch to see if the problem went away. It worked. He then gave me a price of $160 to order the switch and come back to replace it. I've ordered the switch from Amazon for $69 and I'll replace it myself. I don't believe in guessing at the cause of a problem and replacing stuff until it works. Apparently Woodfin does, at their customer's expense. read more

I'm extremely disappointed with the service that I received from Woodfin. I called on 12/21 to have a tech come out to repair my heat. The gentleman replaced a valve around 12 and a few hours later the heat went back out. I called again and the gentleman told me that they could come back out but it was just going to go back out and the warehouse was closed so they could get to me first thing Monday morning. I called at 8:00 Monday to get an approximate time for a tech to arrive and I was told that they weren't giving estimates out on that day and was advised to wait at a Starbucks where it was warm. I gave them the benefit of the doubt because it was 18 degrees outside and I was sure that they were probably busy. I did fully expect to be one of the first customers serviced since I was without heat already for 2 days. I called back at noon as was told again that they couldn't give a time frame and after asking to speak to someone else I was told again that they couldn't give an estimate but I could go wait somewhere warm. The tech came at 3 with the part that the previous tech said that I needed but he said that wasn't the issue, I needed another part after all. By this time, once again the warehouse was closed so I would have to wait another day. At this point, I realized I wouldn't have heat for Christmas so I had to buy several space heaters so my family could enjoy Christmas at our house. My heat was finally fixed Friday evening around 5 pm. I wasn't loaded as one of the first customers on that day either. So, even with the maintenance plan with Woodfin it is clear to me that they do not care about their customers. I went a full week without heat during some of the coldest days in December. No one apologized for their initial error or had any urgency to fix a mistake that they made. Sad to say that I can't recommend them based off of my experience. read more

We have been using Wood fin for our primary heating contractor for over 40 years. They perform our annual furnace service. This year we noticed that a pressure relief valve was leaking and had the service tech look at it when he was out for our annual, he stated that we needed a new expansion tank as it was causing the pressure relief valve to drip. They gave us a estimate for the work which was over $500.00 to replace a $135.00 expansion tank. I know materials are high right now and supply is sometimes limited, but seriously, this was ridiculous. I will be writing Woodfin a letter to let them know how I feel and that I feel we were taken advantage of. Not a rosy scenario by any means. read more

Easily was able to schedule a free estimate during a time-frame that worked for me after work. Looking to get my 10+ year old water heater replaced, and as a new homeowner, I knew little to nothing. Technician called me when he was on his way and arrived masked, and with boot covers to not track in any dirt! Loved the thoughtfulness. Technician quickly analyzed my water heater, took measurements, and answered any questions I had about the pros/cons of buying a new heater when my old one was still in working shape. I was emailed a copy of my estimate within 12 hours. Woodfin theoretically serviced our AC units for two separate cooling systems in 2017 & 2018. The units were installed in 2015 & 2016. One unit was not cooling in 2020. The new technician said that the units were never properly cleaned. The situation was reviewed with the Woodfin supervisor who took NO responsibility. We called today about a potentially leaking radiator. We had a potential Covid19 exposure and are awaiting test results early next week. We were informed that the technician would not visit our home for 2 weeks after a negative test result. When I called, the customer service rep all the information upfront. She apparently was not listening and the information had to be repeated multiple times. read more

Removed our old systems and installed new. Excellent work and couldn't be happier with them. No hidden costs, no pressure, we needed our systems replaced as they were in very bad shape, almost burned the house down at one point. The installers even offered to spread the 7 stone I bought for the heat pumps to sit on. As far as the attic install the only thing I would have asked different is the drain hose just barely gets in the way of the filter media door but still, not a big deal. As far as the subfloor air handler location, they had to cut a section of drain pipe to get it installed and they patched it up and all is good. Highly recommend them and when we build our home they will be doing the install for sure. read more

Woodfin has great delivery service but they do not honor their contract with the customer. When I signed the salesman told me there wouldn't be any rental fee if I had them fill the tank once a year. When I got a rental bill for over $100.00 I was told I didn't buy enough propane. I was also told when I signed that I had the option to buy the tank for $500.00. When I called to buy the tank I was told the cost would be over $1,100.00. I bought the tank.So I will not be doing business with this company in the future. read more

Beware of long term service requirement to get any help. Nearly $12K on a whole home generator, but they will not come out to help unless you are part of their long term service contract plan. Their system is set up like "Pay to Play". Continue paying the monthly/yealy price to be a part of the exclusive service club or they will make you wait a week for help. Safety of system is irrelevant, you either join their service club or you are S.O.L. Spend your money elsewhere unless you are willing to continue feeding the PIG to get service. read more

There is an ice storm this weekend. I got my propane fireplace filled Friday. It was empty so i need a leak test. Why didn't Woodfin do the leak test while they were here? Why don't all the filler know how to do a leak test? The rep called me while I was at work. "Well, I don't think they have time to come back". Mind you, they charge my card $360 to fill the tank, yet I cannot use it because they turned it off. There's an ice storm! Am I working for you or is it the other way around? Anyway, they can't come back till the middle of next week during working hours. What a fleecing of a single I spent $7000 for a propane fireplace in 2019 and it's been a hassle every step of the way (expect when it come to debiting my checks and credit cards). Had an issue with my air conditioning where the thermostat had just completely shut off and nothing I tried would make it turn back on. Called Woodfin and they were able to set me up with someone to come and check it out that same day. But as these kinds of things usually go, I had no idea when to actually expect them and to simply wait for the 15 minute courtesy phone call telling me they were on their way. James was very friendly. He came in and diagnosed the problem within a couple minutes. All together the job took less than 45 minutes. He assured me that the issue shouldn't arise again. The only downside to all this is what it cost me. I'm not sure how the price compares to other companies but they charged me a 99 dollar diagnostic fee and then 80 dollars to clean the drain (which was the problem). A little hefty in my opinion but this may just be the norm. Overall content with the service. read more

Originally had Woodfin check out my two heat pumps (AC). Within the next month both capacitors went out and both units were found to be 3+ lbs low on freon. While I understand capacitors go out from time to time the low freon should have been caught during the initial service call. read more

Really disappointed. I cheerfully admit screwing up a toilet repair due to incomprehensible elderly plumbing, so called Woodfin. The repair needed consisted connecting the supply to the old plumbing and into the bottom of the toilet, where it screwed to the new valve kit I got. Bill: $540. - I winced, but know stupidity tax is seldom cheap. What really got me, though, was when the tech says, "you know, to really fix this right you should get a new toilet." Now obviously I don't know much about plumbing, but this was an insane suggestion. It would be like getting an oil change and the guy at the counter says, "you know, to really clean this up well, you should change the upholstery in this car." The Woodfin tech also said he would not install the flapper (there were two new flappers sitting beside the toilet) because he'd have to "charge extra" for that, so I am $500+ in this thing and still don't have a working toilet. By then I just wanted my bill and him out of there. So - what's going on with Woodfin? Sales incentives for techs getting out of hand? Change in management? Why so greedy? Whatever it is, I'm not having any more of it after this episode. Adios, Woodfin - you've lost a customer of many years. read more

Great for propane, plumbing prices / quote process was awful. Nice things first, their propane tank gas prices and service are excellent, and superior in every way to AmeriGas as far as I can tell. No complaints, easy billing, even the tank rental is included if you buy enough propane. Plumbing was worse. It took a call to the manager to get them to honor the prices on the estimate for installing a new toilet. I was given an estimate on a service call (which has its own fee). When I only wanted some work done, I was told the prices included some sort of bundle discount which was never told to me originally. But step back - they wanted $117 (as part of the supposed bundle!) just to replace a toilet handle. That's a $10 part and what half an hour of labor? I had them install a different toilet (which I wonder how necessary it was) and the leaky shutoff valve (which was the reason for the call) but I don't think I'd use them for plumbing again. Maybe I just don't understand plumbing business models but I feel like there should be a labor charge, and a part charge - and those should both be reasonable and itemized. Anyway, I didn't even call them for my latest toilet fix (new flapper and fill valve); DIY for a $10 amazon part and about 45 minutes of work. read more

Called and requested a leak trace after my heat pump started behaving like it was low on Freon. They sent a tech over, he looked at my system and told me I probably have a leak somewhere and that I should get a leak trace done... That cost me $100.The tech was friendly and communicative but there was obviously a breakdown in communication somewhere in their system. I mentioned my complaint to several people and was never offered any compensation. Wasn't willing to spend anymore with them after that experience. read more

Woodfin just finished replacing our HVAC and installing a mini-split in our addition. Both times the Woodfin guys were friendly, knowledgeable and went above and beyond. Taylor led the HVAC replacement and took time to answer my questions and explain to me how everything worked. He even drove back after completing the work to ease some fears I was having about my gas furnace I had never used before. I can't remember the name of the man who led the mini-split install today but he was also great and removed an old heat source from the brick wall in our addition. While we've had good experiences in the past, our most recent experience is lacking. We called last week about someone coming to repair what appears (still) to be a clogged drain. The original date of service was pushed back a day- no problem, it's only the kitchen drain that is the issue. When someone did arrive, he spent the time commenting on the crappy plumbing job and stated that he couldn't flush the line because of said crap plumbing job. Instead, he quoted us the cost to replace the plumbing in the kitchen and continued to state that it would be under warranty then. Great, except we're a family of five that has had to eat out every meal at present and we'd call someone out to clear the line. Also, the crap plumbing in question has worked fine the 9 years we've lived here without issue. It is a clog in the line (we found that with our own auger) that he refused to clear without repiping the whole thing. In the end, he offered zero help and advice, only telling us how bad the plumbing job done before was. So, we sent him on his way with the service call fee and will be calling another service provider tomorrow and in the future for all services. read more

Woodfin found problem with my furnace on Saturday Parts need to be ordered and estimate cost of service. Monday arranged return for Tuesday service. Returned Tuesday evening with parts needed. The technician was courteous and ready to start work . Arrived at just before 5pm stayed and completed repair Just After 7pm. Did not just wait till the next day but completed the needed repair that evening. Completed what needed to be done even having to work in the crawl space late into the evening.
