Woodstack BBQ Tavern is, by far, the best BBQ joint I have visited in Valdosta. I travel to Moody Air Force Base for business several times a year and Woodstack is at the top of my must visit restaurants. Honestly, everything I've ever had here from the brined chicken sandwich to the pulled pork spring rolls has been delicious. We read the reviews on Yelp and decided it sounded like what we were looking for! Awesome burnt ends brisket appetizer. Flavorful. Moist. Did not need added sauce. Then my husband had the brisket sandwich and I had the pulled pork sliders. Both awesome. Did not need added sauce, flavor full as it was. We stopped in while driving through on a road trip. What a great find thanks to yelp! It's located about 2 miles off the highway but not a big deal. My son and I ordered pulled pork sandwiches and my husband got the 2 meat plate with burnt ends and sausage. The pulled pork sandwiches were great but the burnt ends were mouth watering and a must have. After stealing a few pieces of burnt ends off my husbands plate I immediately regretted not getting it. They had a selection of sauces as the table, we all agreed the house was the best. We sat at a high top in the bar, customer service was excellent, our waitress was really nice and attentive. Food came out quickly. There are multiple TVs to watch the game and a full stocked bar. There also looked like there was a tiny stage for a band to possibly play. Great bar aqua in town. This place rivals with smokin pig. It seems that everyone I ask is split if they like Woodstack better or not and these are your two best barbecue places in Valdosta. If you haven't tried Woodstack, then you need to give them a shot. The pulled pork and ribs were very good and I will definitely be back. read more

Looking around for different BBQ places in the area, this place was a great find. We ordered the brisket, ribs and pulled pork with 2 sides. The brisket and ribs were smokey, moist and tender. Excellent stop!!! We yelped while driving and immediately saw a billboard so we gave it a shot. The Pulled pork sandwich was awesome as was the coleslaw. The kids chicken chunks were soooo yummy as was the mac and cheese. The service was friendly and fast! A definite stop if you are in the area. read more

I know a secret... and it's not on the menu. Burnt. Ends. Great place. Was nice to see someone finally put that location to good use with the last occupant finally giving up the ghost. This one's backed by good people, so it's worth checking out. It was packed, but the fifteen minute wait ended up being less than ten. Our server, Kat, was awesome. She ran her backside off and was very attentive. I had the "pick two"and my wife had the pulled pork sandwich. Mac and cheese is to die for, coleslaw about average. Pulled pork was good, though more chopped than pulled if you're one to care about the difference. We weren't. Brisket was great. Pulled back from five states to four just on that Pulled pork abs the fact that the bbq bread was just that..white bread uncooked. .. They were out of the ribs. ..which was the bragging point of those who recommended the place, but that happens and is somewhat out of their control. Go early if you really want those. But the secret to know is the burnt ends. They're not on the menu, and not available every day, I'm guessing. Ask for them. It's like saucy, buttery, tender caramelized bbq heaven. The coca cola cake was amazing too, also not on the menu, but our server made certain we knew about it.... Price is comparable to any good bbq restaurant. Cheaper than the smok'n pig a block away and Better food. Glad to see they kept the Clydesdales on the wall from previous owners. That's a crucial part of that locations heritage, and I'm glad they honored it. Go on a weekend. Ask for a table in Kat's section. You'll be in good hands. read more

I stumbled upon Woodstack yelping for dinner with a car full of three hangry women. We hadn't had barbeque for some time and sifting through several spots in Valdosta, settled on Woodstack. We called in an order, topped off our gas tank and headed here to refuel our stomachs. We arrived 5 minutes or so after the window for pickup that they offered and our food wasn't ready for another 10 minutes or so which I can't stand, especially on a standard order and in the context of a day of driving for a dozen hours. Despite this annoyance, I was still starving and open for some great bbq. The food was fine, but not outstanding. The pulled pork was great, but it's pretty hard to mess up juicy pulled pork with decent sauces. The brisket was rather dry and forgettable. The mac and cheese was delicious, but again it's pretty easy to make cheesy creamy buttery noodles tasty. My girl enjoyed her pulled pork sandwich and the restaurant staff were friendly enough. The space is about what you'd expect, but offers more than many similar spots. Southern farmhouse with a touch of hipster. They have a good happy hour with dollar beers at the bar. They say you can tell a lot about a chef or restaurant from their sauces and that rings true here. They have four or five typical sweet, tangy, spicy, mustardy, north carolinian and other sauces, but none of them were particularly notable or memorable. Hands down, BEST bbq in Valdosta! My fiancé and I eat there all the time and love getting their fried pickles and ribs. We're not able to make it to lunch there often, but the times we have the lunch menu is on point and is always changing with unique specials. read more

Stopped here on our way from Atlanta to Miami. Almost stopped at another bbq place down the street based on the yelp reviews, but chose this place instead based on a recommendation from a local. So glad we did. This place is great! Food was excellent and so was the service. Don't miss the brisket or the Brussels sprouts (if they aren't sold out). It's ok, not great. Been to the location a couple times and BBQ is just ok really. Sauces are good, slaw is meh. The price is high for the portion sizes they offer when you compare to other local offerings. Staff hasn't been the best having to flag down waitress for a bill, refills or to even get my orders got old, especially when there are few people in the place. Not sure what this place wants to be either. Old School BBQ joint or Upscale "Q" tavern. Prices say Upscale but decor and food say other. Oh and seems they are always out of something may be good or could show they can't prep for business. If you can't get to the "Pig" then this will do fine and beats out some other local offerings but I wouldn't make a special trip. read more

My husband and I decided to stop here on our drive home to Tampa after Christmas with the family and we loved it! The food was excellent and service was great. My husband got the burger special and I ordered the pulled pork plate with Mac and cheese and fried okra. The pulled pork was so moist and flavorful I almost didn't need the sauce, but their signature sauce was too good to pass up: it complimented the pork perfectly. Ordered the Oreo pie for desert and was very good. We definitely plan to stop here again, probably every time we make the drive from Florida to Ohio! read more

Best brisket I've ever had. Far superior to the Smokey Pig just down the road. Excellent, friendly, and prompt service. I was actually grateful this place was less busy on a Saturday compared to the crowds at Smokey Pig. My wife had the applewood bacon burger and it was delicious too. However, that brisket is something worth tweeting home about. I couldn't even bring myself to add any sauce because I was trying to savor the strong smokey flavor. My wife and i are here for a casual night out. Good choice! This place is run by the same people who own The Salty Snapper and Friends. They found a formula that works here too. This is a Bbq joint that offers some traditional and creative dishes. If you have a craving for some bbq and a good atmosphere go here. I ordered a bourbon and to my surprise the waitress asked if i wanted it neat or on the rocks. She also asked if i wanted a water back. When it came out it had a large cube of ice, perfect for bourbon. Try the burnt ends when they are available. read more

We stopped here for dinner during our day-long drive back to Florida, based on reviews we'd read. We were seated immediately, even with it being Saturday night. The sandwiches were generous servings without being so full that everything falls out of the bun. The variety of sauces were delicious, too. The mac 'n cheese was yummy, as was the potato salad. So incredible! Succulent pulled pork. Whole fried okra that is hands-down the best we have ever had, and we have had a lot in our day! They didn't have any more of their famous burnt ends by the time we got there and we still had an exceptional experience! Homemade pickles superb too. Great tasty brisket and a nice variety of excellent sauce choices. The homemade tres leches cake was so moist and tasty it was close to flan. Definitely save room for some! Only criticisms would be the only ok mac n cheese and smoked chicken on the dry side (always a danger with bbq chicken, but the best places can do chicken right.) Go there when in Valdosta for a pit stop, not that other corporate monstrosity down the way that has long lost its historic charm. You will be treated right by the cheery staff too. Not surprisingly they have catering orders from 100 miles around in all directions. I only hope they franchise with one near my stomping grounds without diluting their excellence. read more

Ordered pulled pork bbq sandwich and wife got the fried green tomatoes topped with pulled pork and pimento cheese on side. The sandwich was so tender it melted in your mouth. The bun was soft and fresh. Meat had a smokey flavor but not overpowering. The FGT werenot overcooked or over breaded. Tender and very good flavor. My wife who doesn't like pimento cheese ate almost all of hers. That speaks volumes. Cheese was good and not salty. Very good meal and our server was very knowledgable and pleasant. Good down home country decor with a wild side bar. First impression was good until I met my waitress. Let's just say she wouldn't win any welcoming committee or charisma awards. The billboard off I-75 advertises burnt ends but they aren't on the menu. I did get lucky on a day they had them so I ordered what I came for. Food came out quick, it was hot and the burnt ends didn't disappoint. The sides however were a huge disappointment. Fried okra and stew weren't edible in my opinion but hey you go to BBQ joints for meat, right?!! I wanted the thin based dipping sauce but they only sold it in cups and for someone that travels that wouldn't work so I declined. Try those ends!! read more

I have been to woodstack several times. I have never been disappointed in the food or service. It's not lightening fast, but hey it's slow smoked barbecue not a drive thru burger stop. I have tried burnt ends and they are perfect, smoked chicken half, and sliced smoked brisket, all cooked on a REAL stick burning smoker. Taste the difference in a real smoker and a " commercial faux smoker" and its night and day. This my friend is the real deal! If you go to the coast and eat lunch at Capt D's then head to Red Lobster for dinner... this isn't the place for you. Head down the road to the faux Pig place on the corner of 41 this is your place. I was passing through Georgia and decided to look for some of that classic southern barbecue and came across this place. It was really nice inside and the staff was polite and our waiter took good care of us. I decided to go with the 2 meat meal with ribs and brisket. Both were really good although the ribs didn't have enough meat on it. Nevertheless I was still impressed, especially by the brisket. My friend went with the pulled pork platter and was also impressed. One of the best barbecue I've been to. I would definitely recommend if you're passing by. read more

I appreciated the choice of bottled sodas, Cheerwine, Jarritos and Fargo in addition to usual fountain drinks. The large Budweiser mural in the dinning room was a little over the top. However, we ordered the smoked sausage appetizer for $10 and we only received one sausage link about 8 saltine crackers (Overpriced). The pulled pork was amazing! Along with the Brunswick stew. A good alternative to most of the local BBQ restaurants. The "usual suspects" on the menu: pulled pork, chicken, brisket. Plate or sandwich. I had the pulled pork sandwich with mac and cheese. Pork was hot (temperature), juicy and had the great smokey flavor. Bun could have been warmed/steamed. Sauces (5) at the table, I've always liked the vinegary North Carolina style and was happy to see it as a choice. Tasted great. Place was clean, service was very good, staff polite.
