We visit every 2-3 months and usually order the same main item but the sides may be different. We visited just prior the July 4th holiday. We were the first to arrive and had the place to ourselves for about 15min. It was packed by the time we left! Glad to see they are doing well! Since our last visit, the interior changed a bit. There's " art " on the windows - photos depicting Korean food culture. The banchan offering also changed. In addition to the kimchi and the cabbage, we received cucumbers and noodles. The noodles were a tad salty. We ordered to share: Pork neck stew - small. There is more than enough for two people to share. This is our favorite dish and will usually order this. Seafood pancake Delicious! I do wish it was slightly crispier. Fried laver This is new item for us. It's very simple. Seafood wrapped around seasoned glass noodles. Simple but addictive! Same old good tasting foods here, the portion is definitely smaller for sure and the prices are getting more costly. But, here you feel like eating at home with good old felling and at ease. This is my go to spot in Gardena! I first found it when my friends and I wanted korean food before heading to SoFi for a Twice concert (JIHYO STANS WYA?!) It can get busy but I always go during the off times so I usually don't wait for a table. There's usually only one lady who is doing all the front of house stuff so please be patient with her if it's busy, she's so sweet!! If you come here, GET THE GALBI!! Probs the best galbi I've ever had (next to Sun Nong Dam). I love all of their soups as well, my usual is the yukgaejang (spicy beef soup) but the large gamjatang (spicy pork bone soup) is great to share with a group. I'm a big fan of their kimchi dumplings as well - juicy and flavorful. They also have some of the most unique banchan I've had, it changes up every time I go there! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! read more

It came in a large bowl, but there was barely any beef; it wasn't spicy, and the broth tasted watered down similar to the ramen soup you'd make at home when you use too much water. I cant even count how many times I have been here this summer. This is where you can find classic, korean, homey food. Not many side dishes, but the food always tastes great. Just look at the pork neck tower for that soup! Can you believe that's one serving? The non spicy rice cakes is not that common of a menu option for a lot of korean restaurants, but it definitely is delicious. The pork bulgogi and cold noodle combo is never a miss and so yummy. There are definitely better places for the blood sausage, and I have mixed feelings about the taste of the new paik beer. But this place makes me feel like I'm back in Korea and my grandmas house and I love it! It definitely gets busy during peak lunch hours at times, so be patient with the waitresses! Hidden gem for authentic Korean gamjatang aka spicy pork bone stew. My good friend recommended the restaurant, and once I walked in and saw the random checkered table covers that you see at traditional Italian restaurants, I knew the food was going to be good. They are known for the gamjatang, which comes out as a mountain of meat and vegetables. The servers are nice and attentive. The gamjatang does not lack with the protein portions, and the banchan such as the kimchi cool off the stew. The soup and dumplings were delicious! You come here for the authentic food, not the ambiance. Not to say the vibes are not on point, just an older restaurant as implied in the name, serving quality Korean comfort food. The best Korean in the South Bay! In Korean, this place is called "myungdong kalguksu", a specialty place known for handcut noodle in soup. Aside from the freshly made noodle soup, their menu has many many Korean specialties.. from Korean street-food items like doekbokki to even kalbitang (Kalbi-soup) to their famous gamjatang (pork back-bone spicy stew). And of course, their fire broiled Kalbi (broiled in kitchen tho) is a bomb. There are many Korean places in South Bay but I highly recommend Old Time Noodle House. read more

This is a great spot for noodles, went there on a whim at lunch time and it wasn't that packed which was great for me. Gives me the hidden gem vibes. No AC but they had a lot of fans going to keep it cool. The parking lot is a bit small so trying to take advantage of its hidden gem before it gets hard to find parking. I like the kimchi, decently spicy which I love. I probably wouldn't get the blood sausage again since it was pretty pricy (although they give you a lot). Prices are reasonable, portions are massive. I went by myself to scope it out before telling friends and I had to get a Togo box because it was just way too much food. We had the 1/2 Kimchee dumplings and half pork dumplings, the 2 Color Dough Flake Soup and the Old Time Noodle. The dumplings and the dipping sauce was delicious! The Dough Flake soup was served in a pot and the soup was very tasty, but after awhile the dough became quite filling and it became a bit overwhelming. The noodle dish was good, but the soup was not quite as tasty as the Dough Flake Soup. Next time I would like to try the lunch boxes. Parking is located in the back of the restaurant. read more

Delicious food served in an old school no fuss kind of way. Water refills are self service. The table, chairs, and serving dishes remind of of old school pochas. We ordered soondae, mul naengmyun, and haemul pajeon. Plenty to take home. Their version on mood kimchee had cabbage vs baekchu and also added jalapeños bud was tasty and refreshing. Their geotjuri was well seasoned with umami and red chili to add to the crunch. The naengmyun was great. The noodles are made in house and had a delightful chewy and springy texture. The broth was okay and the mustard and vinegar are definitely needed. The beef slice (one) was a little thick as was the 1/4 wedges of Korean pear-otherwise the sweetness and crunch of the pear added the right elements to the naengmyun. The haemul pajeon takes a minute so order it first. It was crispy and surprisingly light and chock full of yummy seafood. It tasted great at the restaurant, tasted good at room temp, and even tasted good cold straight out of the fridge. The soondae was decent and served with salt only-no shrimp sauce. But, the texture and flavor were good and came out steamy and soft. Plenty of parking in the back or restaurant. read more

This is the closest authentic Korean place to Hawthorne. Usually we do pick-up, but this was my first time eating sit down here. We were 5 people and one person spoke Korean. We tried to order in English, but the server didn't seem like they fully understood what we were trying to say. Needless to say, the person who spoke Korean ordered for us. We got two orders of the the handmade boops and the dough flake soup, and it was enough to feed everyone and we had leftovers for a 2-person meal. I recommend getting the spicy rice cake with the glass noodles, the other noodles weren't as good. This dish also has rich cakes :) the dish is kind of spicy so make sure you have rice if you can't handle the spice. The bone stew was good! It was difficult to get the potatoes from the bottom so I would take out the meat first so everyone can get the rest. The meat falls off the bone so you know it's good! The dumplings are literally half and half. We thought it was a mix of kimchi and meat in one dumpling, but it's one dumpling of meat and another of kimchi. Both were delicious so you can't go wrong with either. The dough flake soup was delicious. The spinach dough flake was our favorite of the two dough flakes. The handmade soup was our favorite! There's a couple of dumplings in the soup, but honestly the noodles are amazing. It's a must! read more

Went here for lunch and the food was good! My husband and I got the yukgaejang, naengmyun combo woth spicy pork and the assorted dumplings. Everything was so good! The yukgaejang had a homey taste to it, not too spicy but it had a hit to it. The assorted dumplings were kimchi and beef, both so juicy. Great tasty food! Ordered the popular Gam Ja Tang or Pork neck bone soup with potatoe. This came out boiling and steaming. Its a large portion and comes with steamed white rice. The meat was very tender and flavorful and worth the effort of digging it off the bones with chopsticks. You get an extra bowl for the bones ...or at least thats what I used it for lol. The broth and whole potato are at the bottom of the bowl so you have to eat your way to them. This dish had napa cabbage not the bean sprout I'd seen in other pictures. I would definitely get this again! The second dish was also a pretty big size, Yukgaejang Mandu Guk was also tasty but pretty spicy! Next time will probably ask for less spicy because off the menu spicy is too much for me.This dish contained shredded and sliced beef, pork dumplings, bean sprouts, glass noodles, leek and napa cabage. These dishes are served with complimentary pickled radish, kimchi and corn tea. The resturant was pretty clean and the staff was prompt to clear and clean tables once guests left. My only issues was that the blue glasses they gave us were very sticky on the outside and made me question if they were clean... The jar the tea is served in was also a bit sticky. All the tables around us had metal cups ... may be they ran ouy of clean cups and gave us these? Other then that the staff was nice and attentive and the food was great! There is a small parking lot in the back and street parking available. This place hets busy at dinner time so I suggest you go right before or after or order take out. This place is so... interesting! First of all, decor is like 80's Korean restaurant. I doubt you can find restaurants like this in Seoul, even. It doesn't look new-retro (all fancy, stylish retro), but it looks authentic retro, like you've stepped back in time. You can't even get that vibe in LA Ktown nowadays, with all the restaurants looking hip and modern. Service was good, waitresses were nice and attentive enough. For the food, wow their portions are HUGE. The pork neck soup for 1 person is enough, for like 3 people. The kal-gooksoo I had was enough for two people. They don't give you much in terms of banchan, just kimchi and picked radish, but what they don't give you in banchan, they more than make up for it in the amount of food they give you. The reason I only gave 3 stars is because we weren't fans of the pork neck soup. The flavors weren't very deep or rich, it tasted like they boiled it for a short amount of time and didn't give it enough time to meld together or something. However, we brought the leftovers home and I boiled it for another 20 min or so, which made it much better. The pork neck soup is also different from any other pork neck soup I've had. They include kimchi and soybean sprouts along with pork neck. It's actually more like my Mom's kimchi jiggae than pork neck soup elsewhere. Pork neck didn't have much perilla leaves or perilla powder either. It's definitely very different from your typical pork neck soup. Kal-gooksoo is ok, pretty good, but the noodles weren't that chewy. Overall, we liked the restaurant with its retro vibe and huge portions. We want to come back and try other dishes which might be better suited to our tastes. I felt like we had travelled back in time and place.... very interesting! read more

The tables have floral tablecloths and the friendly servers all speak Korean. It was my first time trying kimchi dumplings, and they were AMAZING. Even my Korean boyfriend agreed they were delicious. My new favorite spot to grab cold noodles! The food and service here was really great! Also appreciated that there was air conditioning during this heat wave. We had the hamhung style cold noodle, spicy cold noodle and the spicy chewy noodle. My favorite was the spicy cold noodles but all of the dishes were great! They also give cold tea and pickled radish and kimchi. Both delicious. There is a parking lot at the back of this restaurant which is really convenient. Bestie was craving kalgooksoo (handmade dough soup) so we came here. We've ate at most of the Korean restaurants in Southbay and this was by far the most disappointing for us. We got the cold chewy noodle (I believe it was #16) and the beef kalgooksoo. Neither was satisfying. We didn't even take the leftovers home. The chewy noodle had a good chew texture but it was just too sweet for us. We prefer it more on the savory side. The beef kalgooksoo was ok in flavor but the handmade dough was not thick enough and therefore it did not have the chewy texture we were looking for. Unfortunately we will not be back. However we did LOVE the 2 banchan. Kimchi was flavorful and delish and the pickled daikon was FIRE. We could eat that pickled daikon all day. Taking COVID19/pandemic precautions, their provided service is for take-out only. But they do have tables outside should you decide to eat your grub within the premises. I have been meaning to come back for the last couple of months because I wanted my Mom to try it. (She's a pork fiend!) Came through at around noon, put in my order, flashed my 10% Yelp discount... ... then I was told they don't accept the 10% discount for this specific dish because "we give you a lot." First thing that popped in my mind was that it shouldn't matter. But to avoid conflict, I told them, "It's fine." Got my receipt and the price has gone up ($3 more since my last visit which was only 6 months ago.) I was definitely turned off even more by that. But, I really wanted my Mom to try it. (Okay: I did too, so there. Heh...) So, after all this, why the extra star? 1) They raised the price for a reason. The containers alone must cost a lot of money. The one for the bone soup is bigger (and far nicer!) than a KFC bucket. 2) I got my food less than 2 minutes after I paid. That's some quick service. Granted I was the only one there at the time.. 3) Packaging was great. Although it only took 10 minutes to get home, it retained its temperature. 4) When she said it was a lot of food, she meant a LOT OF FOOD. It was far more than what I got when I dined in.
